Rams Lead Redskins by a Point at the Half
The Redskins' first possession of the quarter lasted 5 minutes, 57 seconds -- their second of at least that long on the day. It featured four first downs and covered 64 yards. But once again, it ended in a short field goal for Suisham, this one of 28 yards for a 6-0 lead with 7:58 left. The Redskins' plays, after getting first and goal from the 8: a two-yard loss for Portis, a dropped pass near the goal line by fullback Mike Sellers, and a ball well overthrown by Campbell to Antwaan Randle El.
On the Rams' next possession, back Steven Jackson ripped off a 68-yard gain, and the team that hadn't scored a point in the first five quarters of its season did what the Redskins couldn't: scored a touchdown. On third and goal from the 2, Bulger threw a fade route to receiver Laurent Robinson, who badly beat cornerback DeAngelo Hall for the touchdown that put the Rams up 7-6.
The Redskins got the ball back and again were on the move, but any momentum they might have gained was stopped when receiver Santana Moss was stripped of the ball by St. Louis defensive backs Oshiomogho Atogwe and Ron Bartell. The Rams recovered at their own 30, and took a one-point lead into the locker room.

Exactly!
I do not think Zorn or Blache should get fired. They should have 4-5 years at least IMO to build a team that they want, not fair to rate them on the inherited mess they have to work with.

The Rams use their tallest receiver at the goal loine and we don't, Zorn not very smart in the red zone.

Zorn won't get fired, nor should he. But if you think he should be, who would you replace him with as interim head coach?
Posted by: fan-o-matic | September 20, 2009 2:31 PM
I think he would get fired IF Snyder can convince Shanahan to take over. But, not after only two games. And, I don't think Snyder would fire Zorn to replace him with one of his assistants. Not much there.
When Norv was fired, Snyder tried to get Ray Rhodes to take the job, but he wouldn't do it. I think if Snyder knew Rhodes wouldn't take the job, he wouldn't have fired Norv.

Zorn must have two playbooks....a conservative playbook for outside the redzone and a "VERY" CONSERVATIVE PLAYBOOK FOR INSIDE THE REDZONE. Inside the redzone, he seems to call plays that will give his team a easier field position

I don't know how people are blaming this on Campbell. I've counted 2 dropped touchdown passes and a fumble by Santana. He's playing great right now. Quick decisions and not pump faking 4 times and getting hit. They have to hold onto the ball.

Zorn did not pick his own QB, so that's his only saving grace...but what kills him is how he does not utilize the talent he has
No Fred Davis...no Malcolm Kelly in the Red Zone...no Devin Thomas...no Marko Mitchell..
To me...this is what could cost Zorn his job.

So it is JC fault that DT didn't catch the ball. It's JC fault that Sellers drop the ball.
Those 2 aren't JC's fault. Freaking out against a non-existent pass rush on the last third and goal and throwing the ball away to settle for a field goal--that's all JC.

A lead is a lead. Still, though, this game should be 21-7. They are letting the Rams stay in the game. And that is going to bite the team in the @ss late! Somehow the defense is going to have to step up here because, clearly, the offense has no intention of doing anything brilliant.
