Reed, Gaither, McGahee Active
Baltimore's primary injury concerns - Ed Reed, Jared Gaither, Willis McGahee - are all active.
The Ravens are without WR Terrance Copper, WR Marcus Maxwell, CB Evan Oglesby, T Oniel Cousins, TE Edgar Jones and DT Lamar Divens. Todd Bauman is the third QB.

Campbell has to be the WORST QB in the league when it comes to recognizing the blitz. The kid just doesn't have the awareness. When the other Rookie QB from Baltimore steps in, he knows exactly what the Redskins D is going to do. Campbell always has that deer in headlight look

It's going to be a long, long night. Until this offensive line improves, either by personnel or performance, this offense is going to be mired in neutral.
It goes without saying that Leigh Torrance would have blocked the dude who blocked the punt.

To close on the burgundy-colored glasses fumble ambiguity:
Rule 3, Section 2, Article 7 of the NFL Rulebook states:
"A player is in possession when he is in firm grip and control of the ball in-bounds".
Portis very clearly did not have firm grip and control of the ball before he was down. Thus, it was a fumble.

Posted by: PDiddy
Nope. That is an ad hominem argument. You can't claim something is true by saying it's true, essentially. The ball can shift around in one's grasp and it still be called a firm grip.

Jim Zorn's playcalling is about as original as the playbook in the 1st Techmo Bowl.

I agree with the person that said the Gibbs stuck with older players for too long.. This is basically still a GIBBS team.. Trust me if Zorn could pick the players to run his system this would not be it.. So we basically have to go about 2 years to see what this system really can do.. WHile he picks up players.... I mean really what did we expect.. Its 99% the same team as last year...
Posted by: cocodc1 | December 7, 2008 9:09 PM | Report abuse
I think the Skins should change Portis' role next year and make him more of a receiving QB. This is not Jim Zorn's offense. Zorn discovered that he could win some games with Portis as a between the tackles back.
Portis will not last two seasons if he keeps this up.
Posted by: rickyroge | December 7, 2008 9:09 PM | Report abuse
and a quick PS Clinton Portis will be done after this year. He won't even make it through this year. His career is gonna go downhill FAST because no one can take that kinda beating he takes every week.
I'm close to being 100% for blowing the team up!

To the person who's hoping the skins lose by 50. Well, that would be a relief, but more likely is the tortuous loss by 7 or less, likely at the last minutes as usual.
Choking, in other words.
This blowing it in the 1st quarter is refreshingly new.

Posted by: jiacinto | December 7, 2008 9:13 PM | Report abuse
The ground cannot cause a fumble and that's what happened. If you make the argument that a ball moving around in someone's arms indicates he has lost control, ergo fumbled, then a player shifting the ball to the ohter arm during a run would be considered to be fumbling the ball (and recovering it). But obviously that is not how it is reflected in the stats.

To all those who call us haters, it's not really. It's more like the team players stopped PLAYING, stopped believing they could win, and acted like all they want to do is collect a huge paycheck. That's why we "hate." Although it's not hate so much as an accurate expression of disgust.
