Redskins - Giants: Who Will Win?
You asked for it, you got it -- a post for predictions on tonight's game. And a Jason La Canfora chat is upcoming.
Also, I should add that the D.C. Sports Bog is all Redskins, all day today. Dan looks back at previous season openers and also asks "Is Losing Better?"

Gee, I wonder if this poll will be biased...

Not that's a poll I can dig today. Skins 24-17.

24-17. Redskins..played it on madden against my friend.the stats from the game..ports:24-131 1TD, Moss:4-78 1td, Cooley:4-62 1td

At some level, Zorn has to let Campbell be himself. Not sure how to describe that. Except maybe by looking at the opposite end of the spectrum ... with SJ9
SJ9 in his last seasons under George Allen. Don't think Sonny cared one bit about what the coach thought when he was on the field. Sonny understood what he did well and just did it.
Not saying Campbell needs to move to that extreme, but some of that attitude might be helpful
Posted by: AL Zeke etc | September 4, 2008 2:11 PM
Thanks Al, couldn't remember who posted that. This may be his problem more than confidence and I would like to see him go out and just have fun and play football. No thinking after the ball is snapped.

2-0 skins.
THATS RIGHT!

22-7 Giants. The cards are stacked against us.
This season is Campbell's to win or lose, and Zorn's not to flub too badly with inexperienced playcalling.

Redskins 27/Giants 20
Skins pull it out with a TD with less than a minute to play. But none of us get to see it because it happens at 10:13 pm est and NBC has already cut to the convention.
Unless we get to see it in a little box in the lower corner of the screen (with no sound) while someone is talking about McCain. Thanks to the Heidi bowl.

63-56 skins..Portis runs for 325 yads and 5 td's and manning throws for 400 yds and 8 td's. Jason Taylor gets a crazy careers ending sack on manning and Jason breaks his ankle ending his season

If the 'Skins don't win, they will lose, or perhaps tie like it's 1997. You heard it here first! (Sorry, I'm already geeking because of the game).

John D: Thanks for the welcome. Hasn't been too bad - yet! Although I had to listen to the partner two offices over discuss the greatness that is Palin TWICE this morning - to the point I had to shut my door! :)
As long as the Dallas fans stay near Dallas, I should be okay. Excited for tonight - curious if i will be the only one sporting the burgundy and gold - going with Darrell Green tonight for some old school HOF luck.

Sorry that sounded incorrect. I mean I'll be watching the Skins go to Giants' place and beat the Giants. I'll be watching it from the safe confines on my apartment.
although I did almost pop up and buy tickets to tonight's game last week, which would've literally been impossible to make the trip.
Too much driving though, Saturday I'll be in Athens bright and early for my first game of the year!
and I go with 35-17 as I've been saying for over a week now!!

Oh - the Cowboys fans were really bad between the Oilers and the Texan's era, but now the Texan's fans hate the 'Girls as much as 'Skins fans do -
Sean Taylor jersey tonight - but I'm waiting for my $5.00 Archuleta jersey to come from the 'Skins store :)
35332 - with TO and 85 on my team, I've cornered the market on head case WRs - how can I lose?

Posted by: Alex35332 | September 4, 2008 2:34 PM | Report abuse
Well the team that scores the most points will win the game. The turnovers will really affect what an offense can do. If Portis runs the ball well he should get some good yards. If Eli plays like he did in the playoffs then he will play pretty well. With Osi out of the lineup he is probubly not going to be a factor in this game.

Anyone see all the lemmings (aside from 1) picking against the 'Skins tonight?

Clinton Portis is an all arround player, he runs well, catches the ball and blocks well.

Clearly remember that '03 opener, also a Thursday night game I believe. It featured THE SINGLE Patrick Ramsey highlight (where he ducked a blitzer moving out of the pocket and heaved a pass to Coles streaking down the sidelines).
Not to criticize Gibbs (or exhume an old argument), but those Spurrier teams had higher scoring and offense per game than did Gibbs 2.0. Wow 30+ points in a game...just seems like we haven't thought about that much the last few years.

Finally got a chance to read the Vinny article that everyone was commenting about.
That first paragraph alone would kill Vinny's Mom! Now, in addition to watching out for Jack's Kids, gotta think of Vinny's Mom!
Thoughts:
"...but did thank Cerrato for attending his son's football games and taking an interest in his family..."
Didn't Michael Corleone take an interest in his brother-in-law's family, stating that he wouldn't make his sister's kids orphans?
"...Dan about what our game plan was. Now, it'll be Jim and I walking down the hall to talk to Dan about the game plan..."
What the SJK/VM does Snyder know about game planning?

Umm so I'm really only a little excited about tonight. . . .
I am in deep thought about game apparel as well. I feel like since it's a Thursday game whatever I wear doesn't set traditoin for Sundays . . . karma has some sense of days I'm sure. Since KO time is 4pm PDT I think I may even venture to watch part of it while I'm on the treadmill then I can run/walk the Skins to do well . . . that will totally work.

Predictions for tonight:
Skins, 28 - Giants, 21
Portis rushes for 100+ and 2 TDs
ARE, Cooley, Moss combine for 175 yds; one scores a TD
McCain’s teleprompter malfunctions; he promptly poops his pants, then naps until power is restored
Vinny yells “See!” whenever one of his draft or FA selections makes a great play
JLA writes “See!” whenever one of Vinny’s draft or FA selections makes a bad play
JT plays – gets a hurry or a sack
Bristol and Levi break up and get back together at least twice during the acceptance speech.
Rogers and Springs each get beaten at least once by Giants WRs.
In a stunning conclusion to the festivities, Sarah Palin drags a slaughtered polar bear onto the stage – ravenous RNC delegates rush to feast on the carrion and grope their new VP
After a particularly good series for the Giants D, Coach Spags looks up to the owner's box and screams, “I was ready, Mr. Snyder… And by the way, your house is too showy and it smells of little dude.”
Campbell is sacked and picked twice; Colt talk begins in earnest
Bristol and Levi seen making out in the stairwell. He whispers, “Come on, moon pie, let’s make some Alaskan twins.” She responds, “But I ain’t got no egggggs. Weren’t you lis’nin’ durin’ Abstinence Class? You gotta be strong now, Levi, we gonna have a bay-beee.” Levi spins away in frustration, jamming his hands in his pockets and shuffling his foot. He thinks better of it, turns back and says sweetly, “Yeah, but in Creationism Class, when did you ever hear that Eve wouldn’t give it up to Adam?” Bristol ponders and responds, “Well, never, actually.” “That’s right,” Levi says, encouraged, “And now that I’m on TV it’s like a law or something that I get what I want.” “That makes sense,” Bristol says. They begin making out again, as Sam Brownback watches on, rubbing his hands together and murmering lasciviously, “Beautiful white teenage children, beautiful, do what God wants you to, that’s right, just a little closer…”

Let's get real... Giants are the defending superbowl champions. The skins have a new coach, new offensive system, and a new defensive coordinator. I'd like to think it will be competitive, but wouldn't be surprised of a Giant blow-out. BTW, I am a huge skins follower. Still hate Cerrato and the Danny-boy.
