Redskins 2010 regular season schedule (updated)

Make your forecasts right here.

The NFL has released Channel 4's Dan Hellie has obtained a copy of the the Redskins' 2010 regular season schedule. The Redskins will open the season at home against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football on Sept. 12 and play two additional prime-time games -- a Sunday night game at FedEx Field against the Colts in Week 6 and a Monday Night Football game at home against the Eagles in Week 10.

According to a Tweet from Hellie, The Redskins play eight games before the bye week: Dallas at home, Houston at home, at St. Louis, at Philadelphia, Green Bay at home, Indianapolis at home, at Chicago, at Detroit.

After the bye, they play the Eagles at home, at Tennessee, Minnesota at home, at the Giants, Tampa Bay at home, at the Cowboys, at Jacksonville, and then conclude the season against the Giants at FedEx Field.

The NFL is scheduled to release the entire 2010 schedule at 7 p.m. Coach Mike Shanahan is slated to talk about it on ESPN2 at 7:15 p.m.

"The Redskins will open the season at home against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football on Sept. 12 ... and then conclude the season against the Giants at FedEx Field."

Best two games of the season right there ... assuming the FedEx experience can start competing with the "sitting and watching the game at home" experience.

I *want* to believe that (the 2009 Redskins) - (Zorn+Blache+Cerrato+Campbell) + (Shanahan+Haslett+Allen+McNabb) yields a four-or-five game improvement in 2010, but I just can't go that far.

Here's hoping they make me look like a dope, and that we can all share a laugh at the profound wrongness of predictions like mine...

Posted by: NateinthePDX | April 20, 2010 5:34 PM | Report abuse

There should be a good Shanny/Jerrah storyline for week 1.

Posted by: manlius1 | April 20, 2010 5:35 PM | Report abuse

Its a tough schedule. Only 3 'bad' teams from 2009. 6 games vs 7-9 to 9-7 teams. 7 games vs 11+ win teams in 2009 (gulp).

Posted by: zcezcest1 | April 20, 2010 5:35 PM | Report abuse

10-6 with a home playoff game at Fed Ex Field. How old is Fed Ex Field? Skins have never played a playoff game there.

Posted by: coparker5 | April 20, 2010 5:36 PM | Report abuse

Abstain.

Posted by: 4-12 | April 20, 2010 5:36 PM | Report abuse

Draft picture is getting interesting. Hopefully Shanny still has an eye for talent in the later rounds. We can still end up having a good draft if we can get some extra picks for AH, JC, AC, and maybe even CP. With AH bringing in the most value.

vs. Dallas W
vs. Houston W (Kyle knows them/and at home)
@ StL W
@ Philly W (revenge for McNabb)
vs. GB W (big game, at home)
vs Indy L (Peyton owns Skins)
@ Chi W (Cutler??? haha)
@ Det W (better coaching and we wouldnt have lost last season)

BYE
vs. Phi W (after bye, Shanny/McNabb won't lose revenge game @ home)
@ Tenn L (bad game, we'll lose)
vs. Minn L (they're just better)
@ NYG L (we cant win in Jersey)
vs TB W (beat a bad team at home with Shanny)
@ Dal L (not good enough to sweet Boys)
@ Jax W (no fans there, and blackouts--they suck too)
vs NYG W (end season and win division)

11-5. this is optimistic, but turning point games are :
vs. Hou
@ Phi
vs. GB
@ Tenn
@ NYG

figure we should go 2-3 at worst, maybe 3-2.
I'm basing a lot of this on us being a better coached team. Last season, we would have been 7-9 or 8-8 with a Shanny-type coach. Add McNabb, an Okung, and an O-line coached in a tried-and-true successful strategy, I think we can be 10-6 or 11-5.

Posted by: kman2 | April 20, 2010 5:37 PM | Report abuse

Yes, I'm being too pessimistic, but I already have a bad taste in my mouth at the possibility of going into the bye week with an ugly loss to Detroit...

Bottom line is that this schedule does not look good to me. But I'll continue to hope for the best, as always.

Redskins trade for Carriker, shocked at his appearance
Posted by Michael David Smith on April 20, 2010 4:20 PM ET
The Washington Redskins have swapped places with the St. Louis Rams in the 5th round of the 2010 draft in addition the Redskins have gotten defensive tackle Adam Carriker. When Carriker showed up at team headquarters they were shocked to find out that Carriker had his left arm amputated after suffering a severe shoulder injury last year. Suffice to say, the Redskins are looking into their options at this time.

Redskins appoint new general manager
Posted by Michael David Smith on April 20, 2010 5:20 PM ET
The Washington Redskins announced today that, in a shocking move, general manager Bruce Allen has resigned, and in his place, the team has hired a blogger who goes by the name "BeantownGreg1". Beantown, in his first remarks to the media, said, "I have no experience, but I surely know how to run a team better than that idiot Vinny Cerrato. And one thing's for sure, there'll be no more bogus rumors leaked to PFT for people to cut and paste all over the net on my watch. Go Skins."

Skins hire Haslett as DC

Joey Porter visits Ashburn
Alan4: Can he play offensive line?

Skins may trade Haynesworth
Alan4: For an offensive linemen?

4real Alan4,

Your love of offensive linemen seems a bit unhealthy. If the day ever comes where maybe, just maybe, you realize that you could be wrong and maybe, just maybe, O-line isn't the end all be all to winning Championships, I hope you aren't visiting the Grand Canyon or buying a hand gun that day.

I can only imagine how hard you took it the day you found out Santa Claus wasn't real...

You guys kill me. Once again, the Redskins win the NFC East and go deep in the playoffs in April. Come October it will be a different story as they blow the ones at home that they are supposed to win and get a few wins on the road because the opposing team didn't take them seriously. McNabb will be out for the season by then with an injury after taking snaps behind a G-string excuse for an offensive line.

Titans, Redskins have talked Haynesworth
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 20, 2010 5:34 PM ET
Titans G.M. Mike Reinfeldt made it clear he couldn't say Albert Haynesworth's name Tuesday, but he didn't squash the potential for a reunion with the former Titans defensive tackle.

"You want me to guarantee we're going to make a trade before the draft? I can't guarantee that," Reinfeldt said. "We'll have a number of discussions over the next couple of days and we'll see where it goes."

Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean reports the two teams have had discussions.

So basically Mike Shanahan is full of it. But we knew that. We don't even hold it against him.

According to Wyatt, "If the Redskins are truly done with Haynesworth, and want to unload him for cheap, the Titans are ready and willing to take him back in."

If Sims and Scheffler are only worth 5th round picks, and Carriker is only worth moving up within the fifth round, is McNabb really worth a near top second round pick?

I just am not getting how teams are assigning value for birds in the hand versus birds in the bush. Is it because these draft picks aren't going to get paid diddly in their new contracts b/c of the CBA lapse?

Vicc,

Even if they trade down they are still going to pick offensive linemen. This draft is full of good ones. Have to assume the plan is to trade Haynesworth, possibly Campbell, MacIntosh, Cooley, etc. in order to obtain more picks.

The strategy at this point has to be to acquire as many picks as possible on or before Thursday.

Posted by: periculum | April 20, 2010 6:07 PM | Report abuse

Patriots loaded up with re-tread, high production veterans last year ... Joey Galloway, Fred Taylor, Shaun Springs ... now they have 12 draft picks.

I can see that a team like Tampa Bay actually could use 12 draft picks (which is what they have now with the Leftwich trade), but the Patriots do not deserve to be allowed to lockup that many young guys. Its just not right.

A 10-6 record will win the NFC East. The division winner likely won't be clear until the final game. The best we can hope for is to be relevant in December... something lacking for most of the past 20 years.

I agree. I have little doubt the Skins will address the O-line this draft.

The thing is I've already filed the "Skins trade down and acquire more picks" paperwork next to the "Skins draft MLB McClain" and "Eagles trade McNabb" folders under the "too good to be true" section.

I will say this though: people who say this year's schedule is "tough" or "easy" never learn. We have no idea how good or bad the teams we will be playing will be, and relying on last year as an indicator is pretty silly.

Skins in NFC East means tough schedule thanks to the three good teams (Cowboys, Giants, Eagles) in the NFC East. Need to move the Skins to a less competitive division so they have a chance, this schedule is a killer for a weak team like the Skins...I predict Skins go 4-12 at best, and that only if the Giants have playoffs locked and play their back-ups in last game of season.

They are cooked. 6-9-1.

I really see the Redskins at 10-6 this year and a playoff birth. That schedule is no tougher than usual.

Please trade Haynesworth to a team the Skins don't have to play this year. Can you imagine Dockery, Rabach, and Big Mike Williams trying to block Haynesworth? McNabb would be placed on the IR that week.

5-11; 5-11; 5-11; McNabb isn't enough of an upgrade until I see the draft, future acquisitions, and pre-season. If Shannahan tries to get too cute with the WCO stuff, the physicality of the NFC East will overwhelm this team, as it has the past 2 years.

3-13. If you can't find the easy wins, you're the easy win...
