This will change over the next 24 hours.

secondy-twelfth.

Ready for the game, now.

I gotta say, I'm pretty happy with this Redskins team, except the O-line. Would love to see an upgrade there, if possible, from another team's cuts. Is that OT cut by the Jags any good?

wow. skins. wow. what exactly is the objective of this team? If Campbell stays on the roster, I'm not watching.

Poor Marko Mitchell. He went to the Nevada game vs. Notre Dame and Nevada lost 35-0. But he made the team so I bet he's really happy.

Doubt they will add Pashos, he was cut because he would not take a pay cut ($4.3 million). Though he won't be signed for that I would guess he will try to get a lot more then vet min.

Then you're not watching Domino. See you next year.

Cut the OLine "cast off backups" and sign any OLine guy placed on waivers today or tomorrow with at least 1 snap of experience in an NFL game, and the Skins will improve the OLine deficiencies.
Mike Williams.. are you kidding me??? He's Vinny's project..

Vinny just wants to add one more "1st round pick" to the Redskins roster for highlighting his GM accumen and bragging rights..(no matter how bad the player is now).
"We have more first round picks on our team than any other team in the NFL." Already heard this before from Vinny.. Too bad it equaled last place in the Division.

Jags and Browns are very deep in quality OLine guys... Skins should of cut Mike Williams and grabbed an OLine waiver from one of those two teams..

This day was like the start of FA - RI was on the sideline, getting scooped right and left. All that preseason suck-up for nothing. In a sense it's the left hand and the right hand not knowing about each other. JR works hard to get on the good side of Vinny and then WaPo blasts Danny for no good reason.

Lay off the conspiracy theory pills...good God, your paranoia and angst makes my heart beat faster.

This is a solid lineup.

Its not a bad roster as far as it goes. They kept a lot of the OL. Mitchell will probably end up playing a lot. I suspect that linebacker Young will be brought back and activated if he isn't picked up by another team. They need every single one of the DL for the games that Haynesworth misses. He has consistently missed a lot of games. Have to expect that.

Also they kept A LOT of corner backs this time. So, they do apparently understand that there is a problem there right now.

Mason sends a signal to Portis that they weren't impressed with his "camp" this year.

Impressive set of linemen and linebackers. The linebacking is a work in progress that hopefully won't require an entire season.

Is it me or did anyone else think that Vinny just snorted some blow before his press conference? Maybe he can't handle the pressure questions, or the pressure of making decisions about the roster. Who knows, but that guy was high as a kite.

Its a solid (First TEam) lineup... But, not after injuries begin to pile up as the season progresses... Do you really see Mike Williams stepping in with the first team OLine after his play this preseason?? He would of been cut on any other team except he is "Vinny's guy". A diamond in the rough personally uncovered by Vinny.

This is a great day!!!!

I just got three words for all the Mason hatin' bamas:

Su*k IT beyotcheeeeees!!! lol...lol..lol...lol...lol..lol...lol...

Yeah JReid, I'm looking at you! If you don't like what I just had to say, I'm not going to suck up to this guy, so get the f over it! His boy Rock still wasn't cut, but he still had to cheap shot a dude that worked his ass off to make the team.

JReid is a gaping a-hole for that...

Personally, I don't f*** with Jason Reid. I never recall La Canfora lobbying against a player making the team. To me, he's worse than La Canfora. He's supposed to be a objectionable reporter -- not show proclivity, but he wears his "I hate Marcus Mason" on his sleeve.

I can do it to... anyway, let the Mason persuasion rain...

Who wasn't making the team? Mason? HE IS ON THERE! Anthony who???

Nah, but seriously I wouldn't have mind seeing Aldridge make the team, but not at the expense of Marcus Mason.

Like I debated up here for the majority of Friday afternoon; Mason is a better runner at the NFL level than Aldridge, and more importantly he doesn't FUMBLE.

Aldridge is just a dude with speed, and that's it. Dudes, like him are a dime a dozen. They can easily find speed backs. You can't just ignore the fact that Aldridge has a fumbling problem. No matter how fine you think he is (rachel216), or what he runs in the 40 (everyone else, I think, maybe others think his looks are appealing as well)

Go to see JReid is still on his job..

portispockets, sheriffgonnaget... this is your roll call beeeeyotches...

Look for the us to go after Tony Pashos hard or even Damion McIntosh for a more experienced tackle instead of D'Anthony Batiste (who is that guy). Overall I'm ok with the roster but still expect some minor changes over the next 24-72 hours, we are really deep in some position ( D-Lineman,WR and RB) not so deep on some key positions (O-Lineman,Secondary,LB's and QB). Thoughts anyone ?

Posted by: robbkels | September 5, 2009 8:11 PM | Report abuse

people that are just haters of either Campbell, Jason Reid or even the other Jason or Vinny (he is one funny looking dude though, def high, lol) are made for the Comedy Channel. Enough with conspiracies and make comments that are productive not of bigotry and show that you actually used your brain. If you are NOT true fans of the game and your team there is F'in baseball for ya.

Anyhow, GOOD test when the G-men next weekend, then we shall talk but for now, its about game planning and how they are gonna start the season as 1-0....

I CANT FREAKING WAIT ANY LONGER

Not many suprises are there? I was sort of suprised that they kept all of the O-linemen they did, but I suspect that they will drop one to sign a new 3rd QB. Also, I do hope they are scanning the other teams O-line cuts for some upgrades.

As for Mason over Aldridge, I'm not sold on either. Mason doesn't give you anything sustantially different than Portis or Betts, and he isn't a special teams standout, which you would hope a 4th back would be. Aldridge definately puts the ball on the field too often.

and lets just build on this team from the DRAFT and some FA that can help the team at REASONABLE price...

LETS keep the COACHES and BUILD (NO MORE FIRINGS NO MORE STARTING OVER, enough already with that, 17 years of that crap has not got us anywhere), i can not stand us having less RINGS than the Calfgirlies or the G-women, the green birds am not worried about

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I foresee Mason and Mitchell being deactivated week after week. Now someone tell me why the NFL only allows 45 players to dress for games? This is a ridiculous rule and it should be changed to allow all 53 players to dress. Can anyone justify this dumba$% rule?

Posted by: pennstate1 | September 5, 2009 8:34 PM | Report abuse

Upgrades in regard to the 0-line in my mind other than adding WIL MONTGOMERT include DOCK who has looked good, far better than when he left. He should help us forget KENDALL. HEYOR is improved, but still a question-mark to my mind although an improvement over JANSEN who played like a zombie at times last year. RABACH continues to perform steadily at center. EDWIN WILLIAMS is rough, but has excellent upside and could be a standout in two years.

Still troubling are both SAMUELS and THOMAS who have to prove they can play pro caliber ball after serious injuries. RANDY was held out of the JAX game. Evidently serious enough to rest what ails him. His outstanding career is nearing its end.

On the least optimistic side, CHAD RINEHART continues to give me night sweats. And MIKE WILLIAMS looked terrible for a veteran player despite not having played for years. The thought of him having to pinch-hit for SAMUELS or HEYER is downright scary.

jeremy bridges really stunk up the joint to be cut. most people seemed to think he was a lock to be on the roster and provide depth at right tackle. he is definitely one of those people who played himself out of a job against the jags. pretty pathetic effort on his part.

Posted by: goose33 | September 5, 2009 9:07 PM | Report abuse

pennstate,
roster size has been 45 for a long time (20 years maybe). i think thats why it's kept that way. why are baseball teams 25 players (or whatever they are) or basketball teams 12 players? thats just the way it's been. i think 45 is enough players to field three good units. so long as everyteam has the same restriction, i dont have a problem with it.

there may also be a free agency angle to it. ie. players get credit towards free agency for being on the active roster so many games in a year. not sure about that one, but dont underestimate the nfl's desire to keep guys from getting FA status.

Somehow Tryon is still on this team. And Although Mason is a preseason HOF RB, he really showed nothing special and does not provide a change of pace from the starters, doesn't play ST and sucks at pass blocking. I would have much preferred either of the young guys Dorsey or Aldridge. At least they aer both fast and both played ST. As for the 45 man dredding rule I agree it is horse crap. You are paying them you should have them available, though I disagree that those two will be the inactives. i expect they will be Batitste, Willams, Williams, Barnes, Tryon, Westbrook, Henson, and D-line man. MAybe Mason or Mitchell, but not both, and it wont take long for Michael Westbrook, err i mean Malcolm Kelley to get hurt so then it will be him.
