Redskins a 26-24 Winner in Dallas

Jason Campbell and Clinton Portis saw to it that Jim Zorn can say something that no Washington Redskins coach since George Allen has been able to say. He is a winner coaching his first game in Texas Stadium. The game also will be Zorn's last regular-season appearance in Texas Stadium, since the Cowboys (3-1) move to new digs next year.

Campbell threw two touchdown passes (20-31 for 231 yards) and Clinton Portis ran for 141 yards as the Redskins improved to 3-1 with a 26-24 victory over the previously unbeaten Cowboys.

That was the best win we've had in a long time. The Skins seriously dominated on both sides of the ball. On the road, against an 11 point favorite, with all the names, Witten, TO, Romo, Barber, Ware, Newman - Skins beat them handily. Better special teams, better offense, stifling Defense.

Let me be the first...

JC stunk it up last year blowing games @ Tampa and Dallas w/ Red Zone INTS...

JC stunk @ NYG, he was an embarrassment, and the Fox, NFL and NBC media teams all talked about how bad JC looked.

JC came back vs. NO, played consistent vs. AZ and today JC, your play was splendid.

I don't know how you have done it, but you deserve tremendous praise for being tougher and bouncing back.

Hats off to you now, JC.

Repost (and where are the haters?):

The Skins offense has been stagnant for about a decade. Do you want Brunell back? Think Collins is the answer? How about Ramsey? Maybe we can talk Heath Shuler out of politics?

All you JC haters need to get a grip. His play is very comparable to Eli Manning, inconsistent but promising. And Eli's had a lot more stability in his career. Let's see where JC is by week 8 before ya'll start whining to turn the team over to another over-the-hill vet or unproven QB who takes another 4 years to develop.

So the Campbell haters need to back off right? Like I said, give the guy time and he might surprise you. He's played better than some pro bowlers this year:

Matt Hassleback
Carson Palmer
Derek Anderson

How about we keep giving him time because I'm sure it's not going to be smooth every week. The Eagles are next and they have a killer Secondary. We've got CP rolling now so we need to keep up with that. Did Jansen help the run game or was it something else? That's going to be interesting to see what's written about that. Did anyone see how Devin Thomas faked a catch on CP's long run? He took the CB out of the play and allowed CP another ten yards. Now he just has to catch some balls. I'm so impressed with the D right now. Blache needs credit and dare I say Vinny for that 7th round pick....

We have a coach.

We have a QB.

We have a TEAM.

Now, I know what I'm about to say may seem a little crazy, but (wait for it) how about some kudos to the front office? They did hire Jim Z. They did keep Greg Blache. They insisted on developing JC. Right?

I don't know where this goes from here - we still have a ways to go, but - GOOD WORK Dan! GOOD WORK Vinny! Keep it up!

I liked Chris Horton in preseason and great to see him in the starting role.

Mr. Snyder you need to sit down with Jason Campbell's agent and start working on a contract extension....He is the real deal.

I have told all of you Jason was going to be just fine once he really gets another wide reciver to his arsenal them he is going to a dangerous quaterback,to all who doubted his ability, didn't beleive he could do it, now what? The defense played an inspired game Greg Blache deserves a ton of credit for a marvelous game plan,Marion Barber not a factor! Santana Moss "Cowboy Killer" torched them each and every time. The D line just negated anything Dallas tried, and Portis? just a beast Philly will be tough no doubt but this team now believes and we should too.PLAY HARD FOR SEAN#21!!.

Jason,

Why don't you write an article about how Snyder and Vinnie had no clue what they were doing by hiring Zorn.... or are you too busy crying about the fact that your favorite team lost to the Redskins. Oh... I forgot, you are too busy trying to report BS infractions to the league hoping to get the skins into trouble. Face it.... skins fans hate you.... the only people that like you are personal aquaintances that write on this board. Go cover soccer... you loser.

Jason Campbell is and always has been the Man and a winner. A high school state champion, and his senior year he lead Auburn, I mean LED Auburn to a perfect 13-0 season which they were probably the true national champions. He is calm, and collected at all times and very cool under pressure. He will be the best Redskins QB ever.

Two weeks ago, during the Skins-Saints game, a fellow Skins fan started yelling that we needed to bench JC and bring in Colt. We got into a yelling match, and about four or five plays later, JC hits Moss for that 70-yard score. People, lay off of JC. The guy is the real deal. He showed it today with an outstanding performance. We haven't had a QB this good since Gibbs I.

I'm a third-generation Redskins fan, and I'm floating on a cloud right now. After all the horrible losses in that stadium -- the 1979, 1974, 1975 and 1997 games, in particular -- it's beautiful to close down that dump with a win.

Not to quibble on such a joyous day, but Jason's blog entry is wrong. On Oct. 3, 1971, the great George Allen coached the Redskins to a 20-16 win in Dallas. But it was at the Cotton Bowl, not Texas Stadium.

Texas Stadium didn't open until Oct. 24, 1971. Sad to say, Dallas routed New England 44-21 that day.

Allen's first game at Texas Stadium was a 34-24 loss on Dec. 9, 1972. So Allen won in his first (as Washington coach) visit to Dallas, but not in his first visit to Texas Stadium.

Jim Zorn is the only Redskins coach to win in his first, and only, trip to Texas Stadium.

Hail to the Redskins!!
