Redskins add Mike Balogun to practice squad

The Redskins hit the practice field Monday at 2 p.m., and they had at least one new player in uniform. The team added an eighth and final player to the practice squad: linebacker Mike Balogun.

Balogun had spent the preseason with San Francisco but was released last week. He had eight tackles and one interception in four preseason games.

His name might sound familiar to some fans. Balogun played one season at the University of Oklahoma but lost his final season of eligibility after it was discovered he played semi-pro ball before coming to Oklahoma. He played with the Sooners in the National Championship game in 2008 and registered six tackles against the Florida Gators.

Balogun, 26, is a native of Upper Marlboro, Md., and the semi-pro team he reportedly played for was the Maryland Marauders of the North American Football League.

Hmm, if we have to end up giving up our team name some day, "Maryland Marauders" has a ring to it. . . .

I actually agree with you Mr. President.

Regarding Bush, I believe Bill Maher put it best when he said, "The only person who ever missed you was the Iraqi guy who threw the shoe."

We've be trained by Cerrato for so long to look for big names.

We are NOT one player away ladies and gentleman.

My roommate (a Green Bay fan) asked me "did you hear that Haynesworth isn't playing Sunday night?" I chuckled. I have not for an instant doubted both AH and DMac will be on the field. It was pretty adorable he actually thought our most paid player would sit on the bench just because there's a rumor floating around. If the Girls have any doubt, they have to game plan for both him being there and him not.

In Shanallehan will trust... Better than Snyederrato... Best line ever must be " Danny Boy, get your Cerrato out of your A$$"

This guy has a crazy story. He is 26 yr old rookie who grew up in Upper Marlboro, did not play high school football his junior or senior at Suitland high. From there he did construction for a couple years before dominating a semi=pro league and walking at Lackawanna junior college. In his second year he was juco all American at inside linebacker so Oklahoma gives him a scholarship. Plays one season, ruled ineligible then didn't play in a football game until this preseason for the 49ers where he picked off a pass and had 6 tackles.

I hope this guy succeeds and has a good career with his hometown team. They say he still needs to work on his football IQ but athletically he is off the charts.

Learn a little journalism, willya? Dog bites man is NOT news. Man bites dog IS news. Ergo, let us know when your pants poop you. Otherwise, we'll just assume you regularly, or irregularly poop your pants.

who do you think the 8 inactives will be on gameday besides beck?

Hope it works out for this Balogun guy. Some added athleticism on defense would be nice.
