Redskins come up with big play, trail 17-14
The Redskins had a problem with giving up the big play in the first quarter, but in the second quarter it was Washington that turned in the big play.
The Redskins narrowly avoided another huge pass play at the start of the second quarter, as Kyle Orton missed a wide-open Eddie Royal down the field on third-and-16 for what would have been a 79-yard touchdown pass.
Neither offense was able to move the ball on their next drives, but Washington took over on its own 41-yard line after Santana Moss was taken down by his facemask on a punt return.
Jason Campbell scrambled for 13 yards, and Quinton Ganther, a running back who was only recently added to the roster, took a short pass for an 18-yard gain. Two incompletions and an intentional grounding had the Redskins facing fourth and 20 from the Denver 35-yard line, however, and the Redskins sent out their field goal team.
In a bizarre sequence, Washington showed a fake and then called time out. Coming out of the break, however, the Redskins went back to the fake and punter/holder Hunter Smith took the snap and rolled right looking for a pass. With the receivers seemingly covered, Smith stopped and threw all the way back across the field to fullback Mike Sellers for a surprising 35-yard touchdown pass that tied the game at 14.
Denver responded to the touchdown with an 18-play drive that moved from their own 11-yard line all the way inside the Redskins ten-yard line before stalling with two consecutive incompletions and a short run from Orton.
The Broncos settled for a 24-yard Matt Prater field goal and went into the half with a 17-14 lead.

ok..admit it.. who on this board is a life long Skins fan but, quietly wishes the Skins continue to lose.. in order to improve the chances of blowing it up (team and Mgmt) in the offseason?

NEVER!!!!

If anything in an indictment of Vinny and Zorn, it is all those empty seats.

ok so backup QB that hasn't taken a snap. we better win. Simms doesnt even have a spleen. how can we let a QB without a spleen beat us?

it's one thing to hope to lose if we know our team will improve with failure, and high draft picks. but when we have no faith in either of those happening, i'll be loyal and root for my team regardless of the consequences.

If we went 2-14, I'd say "well at least we'll get a good draft pick," but there's no way I can root against the skins.

Nice way to walk into a sack. No pocket presence.

Throw the damn ball...at least away!

If we beat dallas twice, I'll take the rest of the games as losses. No question.

Another thing Ricky has in common with me is that we both think Jason Campbell is horrible. ;)

i cant remember any team rely on the stretch play as much as the redskins have this season. when we get 0 on 1st down, it's an automatic punt situation.

Knew we could not get through this day w/out a poll.

I don't get it, everyone complains about the bad oline not being able to protect JC. But the oline has been for the most part good today and he still misses wide open guys, what's his problem?
The defense is very shaky..

One of the greatest indictments of Cerrato is that with Campbell playing this poorly, there is no QB waiting behind him that we could put in that would take JC's job and never look back!

another thing you two have in common, staying on this thread too long. move along.

You know what it is rachel...it's Jason Campbell...
I'm not saying these are the HOGS, but JC:
1) Holds the Ball too Long!
2) Locks in on Receivers!
The Oline is playing well today...but look what JC has done with it!

I am a lifelong fan that wants the Skins to lose the rest of their games. It's the quickest way to make Snyder lose money.

Curzon...
Don't hate the player...hate the game!

JC since the opening drive has not done anything. He has in fact missed 2 open receivers for TD and in my opinion deserves to be benched.
Don't count on him to get the Skins back in this game.

why do we always run that damn stretch play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!on 4th and short
Posted by: zjfr2 | November 15, 2009 3:04 PM | Report abuse
Well I am hoping that Denver wins, if only to make it harder for Cerrato to keep his job.

I thought they took the play calling away from Zorn??
Posted by: SkinsneedaGM | November 15, 2009 3:05 PM | Report abuse
my thoughts exactly..
No chance of going to the playoffs and Losing increases the chances of blowing it up..
++++++++++++++++
Well I am hoping that Denver wins, if only to make it harder for Cerrato to keep his job.

Does anyone know why Dan Dierdorf still has a job - he has been, still is and always will be, the WORST Network Announcer on TV

Can somone PLEASE tell me what Randle-lost-the-handle is doing returning punts? Rock Cartwright is perfectly able, and not going to let a ball bounce, giving the kicker a 65yrd kick! -M

this is a local broadcast (DC and Denver), Dierdorf is now on the lowest rung for this network.. He doesnt do the national broadcasts.

Can someone tells me why I am wasting a beautiful sunny day outside to watch a sure lost for the Skins?
Waiting as usual and on cue for JC to give up the untimely turnover, and a usual sturdy defense to not be able to stop anyone and their grandma.
