Jerry Gray Update

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote that the Houston Texans were very interested in Skins secondary coach Jerry Gray for their vacant defensive coordinator position. And it turns out, he was considered a very strong candidate for the job. The Redskins, however, denied him permission to interview for the opening, despite it being a promotion from his current title, and Houston promoted Frank Bush to the coordinator role this week.

Gray, asked about the situation, praised Bush and thanked the Texans for their interest. "They had some great in-house candidates there," Gray said.

It was within the Skins' rights to deny him permission. With Greg Blache, Washington's current defensive coordinator, lured out of retirement a year ago and operating year-to-year, blocking Gray's interview makes sense ... with the natural assumption being that should Blache walk next offseason, Gray would be right there for the job.

Gray interviewed for Detroit's head coaching vacancy a while back and it does not appear he will land that position. Gray said he had no other interviews planned - "There's nothing cooking right now," he said - and should he stay, many within the organization believe the chances that cornerback Shawn Springs will be kept increase. Gray is a strong supporter of Springs.

Let me be the first to say that I am thrilled that Gray will remain. He is an outstanding coach.

Given our quality secondary play the past two seasons, the FO should 'upgrade' Jerry so he doesn't feel the need to look elsewhere for a job.

Given Blatche's age and experience, perhaps the coordinator job should be dangled in front of him.

I remember when he played. The guy was a killer.

Miami had 9 draft picks, six of which were dedicated to their offensive and defensive lines, including the #1 overall pick in the draft.
posted by psps 8:30 am

I suspect if you look at Miami, they were actually building this year's team 2 years ago, but the pieces didn't fit together last year, and that made those 9 picks much more valuable in last years draft.

What I am saying is that it is a process. You can't make a major turn-around in 1 year.

IF... (I know it a BIG IF) you have the right people making the picks, it can be done. If our 9 remaining picks from last year prove to be successful, we may be closer to success in the post-season than we realize.

Anything less then a playoff appearance next year will get Zorn and hopefully Vinny fired.

If they make the playoffs it could still happen but would be less likely.

For Cower to come here he would want full control, not sure Snyder will give him that.

He tried it with Marty and said he wasn't having any fun, which goes back to my theory that Snyder would not enjoy owning the team if he has no say in personnel.

"That's how they refer to it in the deep south. Definitely Savannah and Charleston. The War of Northern Aggression. Not by these other names. Never the war between the states, never the civil war.

I guess they like to keep things simple and a war over succession seems a tad on the complex side. From their perspective the North invaded the South sans the Constitutional right to do so. There was provocation at Ft. Sumter and other places ... still ...

Another high quality college junior--Sam Bradford-- has decided to stay in school and not embrace the pleasure of watching Drew Rosenhous earn enough money to feed his ego and hair habit.

So far, no Gerald McCoy, Colt McCoy or real McCoy.

Tim Tebow is returing to the Philiphines to circumsize little boys who think football is soccer and a tight end what American business men look for while on vacation.

The Madden GM wonders what these kids are smoking.

Don't they know greed is good?

Don't they know the 'education' they're receiving won't help them buy the mansion their athletic skill will?

Don't they resent watching the BSC profiting off their living out the best years of their lives?

Don't they know their indecision has made Mel Kiper's hair straighten, curl, and re-assume it's helmet-like shape?

But, always being selfish, Moe realizes some things:

1. The Redskins will have to make very good decisions about which players to select as the pool is now not as deep.

2. Perhaps the FA route now becomes even more attractive.

3. Next year, 2010, some very good college quarterbacks and defensive players will be availiable should the wheels fall off both the Campbell and Cult O' Colt Bandwagons.

I guess you could learn a lot from kids deciding to stay in school to play football.

Next year's schedule
Home: Dallas, N.Y. Giants, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Denver, Kansas City

Away: Dallas, N.Y. Giants, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Carolina, Detroit, Oakland, San Diego

We'll see how tough the NFC South really is, I guess. Typical, the Redskins get both NFC South playoff teams from 2008 away. Dallas gets both of them at home.

Dallas plays San Diego at home. Washington plays them on the road.

Really: 3 of the 5 non-division away games are against 2008 playoff teams. Dallas has ZERO, the Gi-Ants have ONE.

As for this years' draft, I saw some stuff on RI that concerns me about Oher, specifically that he may have spots where he doesn't play hard. Last thing this team needs is a first-round pick with motivational problems. What do we hear about Monroe (UVA?).

From Charlie Casserly......Re: Charley Casserly discusses Drafting/Bulding a Team on the John Thompson Show

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He said that the reason he chose Williams over Bush was because Williams can rush the passer and stop the run and that's so rare in a DL that if you find one like that you take him.

He said that defense is the way to go. A great defense keeps you in games and is more beneficial for a serious playoff run than a great offense.

But he also said that QB is the most important position on the field and that's what you want to build your franchise around.

They asked him what player he would take out of the 4 remaining playoff teams to build a franchise with and he said if he were selecting them straight out of college he'd take Donovan McNabb and if he were taking them at their age now he'd take Roethlisberger.

They asked him which defensive player he'd take and he gave a lot of praise to a lot of players including CBs and Safeties and dismissed the notion of building a defense around a Safety. He said James Harrison would be his first thought but due to his size he would instead take Ray Lewis because of his leadership.

He went over how Philly, Pitt and Baltimore built their teams. Said Baltimore's strategy has always been BPA. He said Pitt builds primarily through the draft but takes bargain FA guys. He said Philly uses a good combo of draft and big-name FA.

Said Pitt has had the same D scheme for 17 years and all of the players know exactly what they're doing in that scheme. That's why they're so successful.

Flound, the last sentence in this first paragraph needs to be cut out, and pasted EVERYWHERE inside Redskins Park:

Pioli outlined his vision for the Chiefs, and the direction they plan to head. It echoed the vision of what Pioli talked about with the Patriots in 2000. “We’re going to build a team that is a team; my job is not to collect talent, it’s to build a team,” he said. “Individuals go to Pro Bowls. Teams win championships. That’s our goal here – to build this team with the right kind of people and the right kind of players, and consistently compete for championships. We’re going to build a big, strong, fast, smart, tough, disciplined football team.”

Pioli said no decision has been made regarding the future of head coach Herm Edwards. He said he visited with Edwards today, but would not set a timetable on when he would make a decision regarding Edwards’ future. “It’s about getting it right,” he said, noting that the overall process would be methodical.

Cards, Panthers, Falcons all had easy schedules, and Chargers one of the easiest in the league! What does it say when a team with an easy schedule barely squeaks into the playoffs? And they are one of the most talented clubs in the NFL?

Norv sucks. The Redskins are still recovering from him. Snyder should have bit the bullet and fired Turner in the preseason like he wanted, and kept Casserly.

Thing is, there really is only one way to improve this team, and that is by getting younger. Even if Snyder feels like this team is very close, he will still feel the need to improve that little bit, and that little bit will happen by getting younger. I really don't see any way in which Snyder can use the "band-aid" approach. Is it even possible? The only free agent out there that I can see fitting that bill is TJ Houshmandzadeh. Everyone else, including the big names like Haynesworth, Peppers, Gross, or even Suggs, allows the team to get younger (by about 3-4 years at the least) and much more talented at every one of those positions. So long as he doesn't trade any picks (which he shouldn't have to in order to upgrade), there's really no way to use the "band-aid" approach.

Have we ever heard anything like this from our FO.

Building a team, not a collection of talent. Man, that'd be music to my ears.

What's worse, is that after every loss, or season all you hear from this team is: 'With the amount of talent'. That's just it, talent with not team identity or direction.

The more and more I look at this team, the more and more frustrated I become.

About the Skins not being big players in FA.

I agree. If the Skins had a strong-minded GM with a success record, I'd say, 'Yeah, let's use the heliocopter to bring in about 3-4 guys.'

But we don't have a strong-minded GM.

Hopefully, they'll take the simple route, use the 4 picks they have wisely, turn the roster over here and there, and find some low-cost non-draftees that become killer special teams players.

Again: I think 11-5, playoffs, is possible next season.

From PFT,

WILLIAMS LANDS IN NEW ORLEANS
Posted by Mike Florio on January 15, 2009, 10:27 a.m. EST
The New Orleans Saints have a new defensive coordinator.

And he is former Jaguars, Redskins, and Titans defensive coordinator — and former Bills head coach — Gregg Williams.

“A lot has gone into this decision, and we targeted Gregg as the coach we’d like to hire after our first interview because he was so impressive and prepared,” coach Sean Payton said in a release, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “As an offensive coach, I have game-planned against his defenses in the past, and I know the problems they create. He’s an aggressive coach, but his units are always sound fundamentally. We have some pieces in place for him to work with, and I know he’s excited to get started.”

The Saints fired defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs last week, and they immediately focused on Williams, who was released by the Jags after a single season during which the team’s defense didn’t perform nearly as well as it had under former defensive coordinator Mike Smith, current head coach of the Falcons and 2008 AP coach of the year.

As of yesterday, we’d heard rumblings that Williams received an offer from the Packers and was shopping it back to the Saints. If true, the Saints apparently upped the ante.

The Saints had the top offense in the game during the 2008 season, based on average yards gained per game. But they were 23rd in total defense, and it’s widely believed that their inability to stop their opponents had a major role in a second straight season without a playoff game.

moe, I think/believe they can bring in some guys, some 2nd tier guys. I guess my main point is that HOPEFULLY we aren't in any way shape or form going after Haynesworth, Peppers, or any of the top dollar free agents out there.

I've said before, bring in Chris Canty, Jason Brown, Marcus Tubbs, guys that are flying under the radar, but are still quality players.

I'll give you some on his talent evaluations.

And you're absolutely correct on the GM stance. See the J Taylor trade. That was solely based on emotion and he clearly over reacted.

The moment the trade went public I said it was a horrible idea. The dude did absolutely no football preparation in the off season. At his age he needs to be working that much harder than the 20 somethings. I just hope as a future hall-of-famer he's working his butt off for next season to go out on top.

Either way we're out of a valuble 2nd rounder. Jansen was a second rounder and a shiny new RT would have been very sweet right now. Along with our #1 we could have revamped our entire offensive line.

In life, we tend to have an easier time acquiring possessions than we do getting rid of them. Just as we harbor emotional baggage that is difficult to let go of, our lives can tend to be filled with material objects that we may feel compelled to hold on to. Most people are not conscious of how much they own and how many of their possessions are no longer adding value to their life. They fiercely hold on to material objects because this makes them feel secure or comfortable. While it’s true that the ownership of “stuff” can make you feel good for awhile, it seldom satisfies the deep inner longings that nearly everyone has for fulfillment and satisfaction. It is only when we are ready to let go of our baggage and be vulnerable that it becomes possible to recognize the emotional hold that our possessions can have on us.

It’s not uncommon to hold on to material objects because we are attached to them or fear the empty spaces that will remain if we get rid of them. Giving away the souvenirs from a beloved voyage may feel like we are erasing the memory of that time in our life. We may also worry that our loved ones will feel hurt if we don’t keep the gifts they’ve given us. It’s easy to convince ourselves that unused possessions might come in handy someday or that parting with them will cause you emotional pain. However, when your personal space is filled with objects, there is no room for anything new to enter and stay in your life. Your collection of belongings may “protect” you from the uncertainties of an unknown future while keeping you stuck in the past. Holding on to unnecessary possessions often goes hand in hand with holding on to pain, anger, and resentment, and letting go of your material possessions may help you release emotional baggage.

When you make a conscious decision to fill your personal space with only the objects that you need or bring you joy, your energy level will soar. Clearing your personal space can lead to mental clarity and an improved memory. As you learn to have a more practical and temporary relationship to objects, positive changes will happen, and you’ll have space to create the life that you desire.

Basically we gonna get philip back again this year and i know he is old but he still can stop the run, so with him in as a starter and JT coming in on situationals, we will be ok for another year. While adding a run stoppping DT and a blitzing OLB, our D could rise to top 3 next year

we need to get young on the offensive lines, Max Unger and Michael Oher could really do some damage and they are pretty much ready to start

Posted by: mehtadman87 | January 15, 2009 11:32 AM |

A couple of problems first Oher will be gone in the top ten. Second we have no one on our team that anyone would give a 2nd round pick for.

Why does anyone want to pay JT another 8mil to be a situational pass rusher, he needs to go.

To underscore my pessimistic state of mind as a redskin's fan, I actually think Vinny could do more with Magic beans than could with future draft picks. I mean hell, the value of magic beans might be higher than TJ ducket and J Taylor....maybe we could then parlay those magic beans into a trade with Al Davis for Asomugha.

I'm sold, wire the front office.

I've been mulling the possibilities of putting LFB back together with Angelo Crowell as well, but the circumstances behind Crowell deciding to put himself on the IR (in the preseason?) seem fishy to me ... its a contract year for him. I don't get it.

Also, cL, I'm a Carhartt guy myself (though no "trucker hats") ... I'm on my third vest ... the other two got swiped (which is what I call it when stagger home from the bar where I left it and return the next day to find its not there anymore).

With so few picks, I think the Skins need to return to free agency to restock the shelves regardless. Hopefully it will be the Gibbs 2004 strategy of "undersung" guys rather than plashy moves. Crowell fits that mold, as does my new personal "must sign" guy, OG Harvey Dahl from Atlanta.

Sure if he agrees to it, but anything more then 2mil is a waste IMO. The dude is done and was getting handled 1 on 1 by a TE in the 49ers game.

After a guy gets franchise tagged (esp. with the highest level of exclusive rights like Asomugha), then signing him becomes, by definition, a plashy move.

Which is exactly why guys like Asomugha, Haynesworth, and Jordan Gross should NOT be in the picture. Value (i.e., $ in relation to expected performance) cannot be had. Its like drafting a USC guy in the later rounds ... what you see is what you get (hopefully) and you are paying retail.

They have mental institutions that can help her. Get off her back. Lol..She can't help that she subscribes to a site that has absolutely nothing to do with the sorry Eagles orginization. Yeah we did beat them twice, but they are still playing for a NFC championship that even if they win, McNabb would have a snowballs chance in hell of winning the big game. Didn't T.O. already show us the blueprint? We can't help that yall! Saddest part of it is that they beat Minny, and the Gmen, but going to go to Ari and watch Boldin (Mr. FSU of course) and Fitz go coo coo for coco-puffs with about 5 td dances apiece..Lol..He's soon to change his sn on here and probably is an employee at the Redskins store as we speak. Leave him alone, not his fault he had to ride the short bus as a youth. But for us dedicated and true loyal fans, Zorn might not be our solution, but we have to give him a fair shot. Two games out of the playoffs, but with a lack of a pass rush and still have the number 5 defense in the league, it clearly states the offense has to get on track! 09, here we come

I'm starting to think that Jason Smith of Baylor is gonna be the guy the team ends up picking if they remain at 13. I think the 2 UGA guys will go at the very top, Oher, Monroe, Orakpo, Crabtree....all within the top 10.

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints hired Gregg Williams to fill their vacant defensive coordinator's post and revive a defense that allowed 331 yards per game.

Coach Sean Peyton announced the hiring Thursday.

Williams, who spent last season in the same job for the Jacksonville Jaguars, replaces Gary Gibbs. He was fired 10 days after New Orleans finished the 2008 regular season ranked 23rd in the NFL in total defense.

Jacksonville's 331 yards per game ranked 17th in the league. The unit allowed 22.9 points per game, which was 21st in the NFL.

In five of the last eight years, however, Williams' defenses have ranked in the top 10 in the league -- including three top threes in the past five years.

Every person eligible to enter the NFL Draft should do so.

People say school is more important, and it is, but after your NFL career is over, I'm sure you could afford to take one year off and do nothing but go to school and finish up.

Ross Tucker makes this same point, based on his own NFL experience, on SI:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/ross_tucker/01/14/tucks-takes/index.html

He says your body has only so many hits that it can make/take, so you ought to start getting paid for them as soon as you can. And Ross is a Princeton man. Of course, TheTruth is a Charleston College guy and that counts for something, too.

What's worse, is that after every loss, or season all you hear from this team is: 'With the amount of talent'. That's just it, talent with not team identity or direction.

The more and more I look at this team, the more and more frustrated I become.

Place Grilliams years' in DC as defensive coordinator against the one year in Jackie-ville and you get the picture of a guy who wound up in a place that he shouldn't have gone to.

The guy was good here, deal with it.

After not geting the Skins' head coach job, Williams should've gone home, chilled, and waited out head coaching positions that've opened up this season.

I would've auditioned for a tv job where nobody second guesses your decisions and there's no won loss record to out your failings.

That's what Billick, Mariucci, and Cowher have done.

"The Manhattan DA is probing whether bullets fired in 2005 by men sitting in a pickup truck on loan to Giants receiver Plaxico Burress can be linked to guns recently seized from the Super Bowl star, sources said. The district attorney's inquiry was spurred by a Post story yesterday that revealed Burress' Chevy Avalanche was seized by cops on the morning of Aug. 20, 2005, after men inside the pickup fired shots when it got stuck behind a garbage truck in The Bronx. The driver and a passenger fled on foot when a cop car arrived, but officers nabbed the two other passengers. Cops also recovered at least one handgun that was tossed from the vehicle when the patrol car rolled up. Burress - who later that day played his first home pre-season game for the Giants - weeks afterward told cops he was not in the truck during the shooting. Burress said he had loaned the vehicle to his cousin and was never charged."

Also glad Jerry Gray is staying. What our organization sorely lacks is continuity of high quality management personnel. I completely agree that Vinnie wouldn't know a quality player if one bit him. Who knows why Snyder is so high on him. I love Zorn's enthusiasm and smarts. He certainly didn't have the horses to get it done this year. We need to give him the tools and the time. Same w/ JC. I saw real progress w/ him this year. Love Colt, keep him, develop him.

Sources: Dallas may release Owens

By Ed Werder

ESPN.com

Improving locker room chemistry will be the highest priority for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason and that will force serious discussions between Wade Phillips' coaching staff and owner Jerry Jones about whether to release controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens, according to team and league sources.

"I think we all know that chemistry is the problem with this team more than the schemes or anything else," a Cowboys source said. "Are we going to continue to allow talent to outweigh everything else in the decisions we make with players and putting the roster together? We're like the Redskins used to be when they signed every player they wanted. There's more to it than talent. It has to be more about the team.

"The big one [Owens] didn't get discussed yet, but I'm sure it will and real hard."

A USUAL Periculum is often right even when theTruth wishes he were wrong.

Civil War or War of Northern Aggression
About North Georgia

Let me form this into a question....since that's what you seem to want for your feedback. "Why do you insist on calling the Civil War the, quote...War of Northern Aggression..unquote?

It seems to me the first shots were fired by Southern folk...a well known fact. Your attitude in after aldl these years still defending a lost, and thank God it is lost, cause is indicative of the mentaldity of the South in dragging the country into the bloodiest war of it's history for the benifit odf a group of wealth, slaveowning traitors.

The country, in general, has gone along with a sort of wispy view of the South's motives, allowing texts for children to call it such things as "The War Between The States," and other eupherisms to placate the naturally bruised feelings of loosers who are still in our midst.....I have lived in the South since my sixth birthday, and am presently 58 years old, and I love it here and wouldn't want to live anywere else....but there is an element in the South that I am ashamed of, such as the Klan and beer drinking Red Neck so-called reenactors....that is repelent.

I consider your web site reference to The War of Northern Agression to be foolish stuff. Bottom line it was a bloody insurection by staid leaders who couldn't adapt to changes in a democratic fourm and resorted to blookshed.

I love history (that's why I'm at your web page) and appreciate the ins and outs of the events of the past.....but....come on....just call it the civil war.....which it was.....and remember that not all Southerners agreed with the war either....read Mark Twain and why he deserted and just went west.. If you want to call it something besides the Civil Wat, how about The Insurrgency of The Traitors? No one needs that tittle either....but fluffing your bias in history really isn't kosher.

History is not a lost cause, but maligning it is.

Hap Canon

Hap

I will limit my personal comments to the question asked--The War of Northern Aggression, The War for Southern Independence and The War Between the States were contemporary Southern names for what the North called The Civil War. We generally refer to Civil War battles by The South's name with The Northern name in parenthesis. We also tend towards The South's name for the War rather than The North's. If you want to read texts that use Northern names, maybe find a site called Welcome to North Ohio.

Its unseasonably hot here as well. We never see temps higher than 85 even in the summer!!! Strange weather indeed. Stuffy in a place known for low humidity. And we're on the ocean!

Shoot Ben this is usually the best time of year to be in Bangkok. Dry, with temps in the 70's, a bit chilly at night. Sounds like strange weather there.

Apparently Periculum was right about Priest Holmes. He envisioned a role similar to that played by Darren Sproles with the Redskins. Not an every down back type. But everyone seemed to think that the team didn't need a back like that ... a hybrid h-back.

Now everyone seems to think the Skins should get Sproles. Sounds to me like asking for Priest Holmes when he was much younger and injury free now doesn't it? Wouldn't Darren Sproles (as a returner and 3rd down back) be the "jack-knife" of the Skins? Hmmmm ????

Mississippi Rebels defensive end Greg Hardy, one of the top pass-rushers in the SEC, said Thursday that he would return to school for his senior season.

Hardy and Rebels coach Houston Nutt met on Wednesday, and it was determined that it was in Hardy's best interests to play another season of college football before jumping to the NFL. Hardy was plagued by a stress fracture in his foot this season, but still finished with 8.5 sacks.

"We're very excited Greg has decided to return to school," Nutt said in a statement released by the school. "I had a good visit with his mom, and Greg has more he wants to accomplish. He talked about how much he loved the bowl experience, and he has personal goals he wants to attain."

Hardy had 9.5 tackles for loss -- including the 8.5 sacks -- in only eight games this season. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound junior had 10 sacks as a sophomore.

"I'm excited to return for my senior year and look forward to helping our team build on the success we enjoyed this season," Hardy said in the statement.

Scouts Inc. considered him one of the top pass-rush specialists potentially available in the upcoming draft.

Thursday is the deadline for college football underclassmen to file paperwork to be included in April's NFL draft.

Tom Hanks movie ... I liked "Joe vs the volcano" ... (though upon typing that out, it reads like gay porn ... not that there's anything wrong with that).

What I was thinking about for Harvey Dahl was Kendall's spot ... let Kendall retire and hit the glucosamine chondroiten (sp) for the forseeable future ... save further wear and tear ... its only humane to make him stop playing football.

Rinehart could then maybe get some snaps as a third guard if and when the need arises, hopefully not due to injury ... but an offensive line is a continual building process. I don't want to "find out" if Rinehart sucks if an injury bites the interior line again (and it will). Thomas isn't getting any younger.

Who things GG will make things a lot better in NWO?

NWO had the 23rd ranked defense last year. They played the 5th easiest schedule (opp winning percentage 0.449) and finished 8-8. They gave up 29 points TO THE REDSKINS!

The offense might not be as good as everybody thinks it is, either.

From Skins.com

Zorn discussed his thoughts on the Redskins’ offensive and defensive lines, but emphasized the evaluation was still in the early stages.

“We have a solid offensive line, but we’re always looking to build,” he said. “Guys do get injured, so when you have to put a new guy in, you would love to have him come in and have it be seamless.”

WTF is he smoking!

++++ I posted it a couple times before, but Vinny is actually a good judge of talent. What he is NOT is a general manager….

Posted by: psps23++++

You can post that thought til the cows come home, but that doesn’t make it true.

Vinny is a terrible judge of talent. THIS was his first year as THE man in charge. No excuses. Let’s go to the scorecard, shall we?
Nine of ten draft picks, and ALL of his UFA’s didn’t play worth a damn this year on an 8-8 team.

The punter he drafted was cut (the incumbent and the new guy suck). He had three tries at receivers and fanned. Weak year at receiver? Not hardly a half dozen guys he passed on contributed significant mionus to other teams, including one that’s playing for the NFC championship Sunday.

His backup lineman couldn’t even get on special teams. His nickel back got lit up more than W.C. Field on St. Paddy’s Day.

His ONE success? A seventh rounder he passed on six times and selected as an afterthought, probably to mollify the coach who recommended him.

FA and TRADES?

He wasted a seventh rounder on James. He wasted a second and sixth rounder on Taylor. He has four picks 9I wont’ blame kenall on him) in a rebuilding years—but then under Vinny, WHAT year isn’t a rebuilding year?

His ONE suceess? DeAngelo Hall. (maybe). ONLY if he can resign him at a decent salary, and ONLY if he proves significantly better than Rogers, who got thrown under the bus.

No, this is a lousy personnel guy. But I agree with you one one thing. He’s a lousy GM, too.

I say let’s see how he does running a chain of burger joints.

++++It was within the Skins' rights to deny him permission. With Greg Blache, Washington's current defensive coordinator, lured out of retirement a year ago and operating year-to-year, blocking Gray's interview makes sense ... with the natural assumption being that should Blache walk next offseason, Gray would be right there for the job.++++---JLC

I'm not Gray's agent, but if I was, I'd be dang sure that was in writing. As Camus, or perhaps it was Sam Goldwyn once said:

"An oral contract isn't worth the paper it's written on."

Every person eligible to enter the NFL Draft should do so.

People say school is more important, and it is, but after your NFL career is over, I'm sure you could afford to take one year off and do nothing but go to school and finish up.

I'd agree with this if it wasn't a possibility of me getting some guaranteed money. If I was expected to go round 3 this year, but possibly top 5 next year then staying isn't such a bad Idea. To bad that didn't work for Lienart I know.

Posted by: po403 | January 15, 2009 9:08 AM

Well, while he gazes at his banner on his wall celebrating 3 Redskins superbowl wins, this Redskins clown laughs his ass off every time he thinks of the loser Eagles' fans and their 0 superbowl wins. I feel certain next year this time that number will still be 0. And your QB is MUCH MUCH too classy for you, the lousiest and most fickle fans in the NFL.

Eagles 0 Super Bowls

Posted by: saltine182 | January 15, 2009 5:07 PM | Report abuse

And the really sad thing for Eagles fans is, their reputation around the league as being the worst in the NFL isn't about how rough they are on opposing teams, it has been earned over the years from how crappy they treat their own players, and how quickly they turn on even their best and classiest players, like McNabb. The funny thing is, I often want to root for the Eagles because I like and respect many of their players and their coach, but just can't do it because of their fans. How sad.
