Redskins face another top quarterback in Peyton Manning

Tony Romo, Matt Schaub, Michael Vick, Aaron Rodgers. Oh, almost forgot: Sam Bradford, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 draft.

Those are the quarterbacks the Redskins have faced in their first five games. And up next: Peyton Manning, quite possibly the best to ever play the position.

"Everything that a quarterback can do, that a quarterback's good at, he's good at," cornerback Carlos Rogers said earlier this week. "He can read coverages, he can make every throw, he can go from one side of the field to the other side of the field and complete a throw on a dime."

The Redskins are expected to use many nickel and dime packages against Manning and play a lot of zone defense within that framework. And as usual, defensive coordinator Jim Haslett will try to be deceptive with the alignments he calls Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts at FedEx Field.

"We've got to disguise our look, mostly, and try to give him something different," Rogers said. "But once he sees one single safety high, he knows the ball's going to the outside. Two high, he's playing that ball to the inside. So we still have to man-up and cover 'em. He's a great quarterback. There's nothing he hasn't seen."

"Manning has a 6-2 record against Shanahan’s teams. In two playoff demolitions of Shanny’s Broncos, Manning threw 16 TD against only 2 Int."

Fret not...the Colts haven't won in Washington since 1943. That's right...1943. The last meeting here, Peyton the Great came to FedEx on a Sunday night as we celebrated our 70th anniversary with a bunch of the Redskin greats being honored at halftime.

Sound familiar?

Seems to me if Spurrier can beat Dungy on that night, Shanahan can beat Caldwell. Especially when the Colts are dinged coming into this game...and we have McNabb instead of Shane Matthews under center.

God, I hope I didn't just jinx it...

It's amazing how far some people fall. Ryan Leaf on 10 years probation for something a lot of people would be doing a good amount of time for. Tiger now Tigger on the course, much lighter in the wallet, and about to have a sex tape released.

BTW.

In defense of our much-maligned defense for giving up alot of yards -

So far we've faced Dallas, Houston and GB - last season those were some pretty darn good offenses that put up alot of yards on a lot teams.

Aside from getting sucker-punched by St.Louis, one could argue that our low ranking in terms of yards allowed has more to do with the caliber of offensive opponents we've faced and less to with having a crappy defense.

Posted by: p1funk | October 16, 2010 7:04 PM | Report abuse

Who cares about the yrds we give up????

Victories are measured by points.

Ill be happy givving up 500 yrds to manning.... as long as we get a win....

Hey guys, this might help:

If you want to learn how to stop obsessive thoughts, the first step involves understanding exactly what’s happening to you right now. It’s like you’re spinning on a hamster wheel. Like a treadmill that just runs in circles without ever getting anywhere.

Why?

Because you lack TRACTION. You spin because there’s nothing to grab hold of.

I know; it’s obvious.

But it’s important to really let it in: you lack traction. That’s why you can’t stop the obsessive thoughts.

Again, I know; it’s obvious.

You’re thinking about me because you HAVE to think about me You have to think about me because you ARE thinking about me. A catch-22. Can’t stop… can’t stop… can’t stop… those obsessive thoughts.

Spinning away on a hamster wheel…

Look, everybody thinks they’re right. It’s not a question of who’s really right. No. Here’s the true question: do you want to learn how to stop obsessive thoughts, or don’t you?

Which holds greater value? Peace of mind; happiness; resolution; balance; realness? Or spinning in righteousness?

Imagine a hamster wheel spinning in your head. See it spinning and spinning away. Think the agonizing, obsessive thoughts. Then imagine it slowly turns into a sphere of light. Let it slowly sink down to the middle of your body. Feel it sinking down through your head, into your neck, then into your chest and then maybe all the way to your stomach or where ever feels right to you.

Seek out the feelings that come from your BODY. Not the so-called feelings that come out of your head. Focus on your body. And stop focusing all your attention in your head.

All the best,

I can download top notch porn on my phone while waiting at the doctor's office or in a meeting at work.

And no one knows I'm absorbed in nastiness.

They think I'm some tech savvy nerd using the web to solve problems.

They don't know the depth of my pleasure.

Phone porn goes with you everywhere you go with your phone.

My phone is my new girlfriend now that I've loaded all my favorite sex links onto it.

"It's okay, moe," my phone says. "It's not an addiction like blogging is."

"Now, blogging is something you should stop, 'cuz that's true sickness."

"So let's just sit here in the parking lot and watch this porno hottie swallow more than she should before heading off to that meeting about your declining production."

I woke up the other morning, watched a couple of hot sex clips on my CrackBerry, and then turned to mrsmoe for some luvin'.

"I see you and know what you do," she said, yawning.

"You don't want to f!ck me."

"You want to f!ck your phone."

"So if you tryin' to get some from me, buddy, you got the wrong number."

"And so, I suggest you go in the bathroom, get some lotion, reach out, and touch yourself."

Anthony Gonzalez, Donald Brown don't travel with the Colts
Posted by Mike Florio on October 16, 2010 6:09 PM ET
The Colts have three receivers and three running backs listed a questionable for Sunday's game against the Redskins.

One player from each position has not made the trip to Washington for Sunday night's game against the Redskins.

The team announced that running back Donald Brown (hamstring) and receiver Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) have stayed home, and that they have been downgraded to out.

Running backs Joseph Addai (neck) and Mike Hart (hip) remain questionable, as do receiver Austin Collie (foot) and Pierre Garcon (hamstring).

I've read about Haslett praising Peyton Manning but seriously we know Peyton is no scrambler. It'll be the defense's job to SACK, harass, manhandle, trip, and even block Manning today! No doubt, he's going to complete his passes. The focus is for our secondaries to send their receivers to the hospital. NO JOKE. We gotta make them FUMBLE after the reception, folks! Note to DHall23: Be vigilant!

All I want to see tonight is Peyton Manning picking himself up off of the turf at FedEx field. I want to see his uniform dirty as hell. Hell, bloody too if need be.

Once a Colt receiver catches the ball I want to see him smashed like a rag doll.

I want to see us run the ball and control the time of possession. Peyton can't do jack if he's on the sideline.

I'd like to see Banks return one to the house for his first NFL regular season TD.

That's my wish list for tonight. Can't wait! HTTR!!

God, Irvin gives me a splitting headache. Bye bye NFLN.

I'd like to see AH on the field but I get the reasoning for benching him. Gotta stay consistent, and it doesn't have to be a knock on Albert. "C'mon, big fella. Take the time to do this right, make sure your head is right, make sure you're in top physical condition to get it done. Wait till next week."

Cause Peyton will see him out there and go no huddle to wear his azz out.

But the fan in me wants Albert out there when his head ISN'T right, do some real damage. But it just isn't good for sticking with D scheme (can anyone say "draw"?)

Good gameday morning folks. It's another beautiful football Sunday in the DC area.

I successfully predicted two wins in two gameday morning. I predict a third. The O-line and Torain will have a big day rushing the ball, and Peyton will have an unusually bad game. Although Peyton will still throw two TDs, he will also throw two INTs, including one caught (finally) by Carlos Rogers.

It will be another close game with a final score of 24-21, but it certainly won't feel that way. The Skins will finally play a dominant game and control the clock.

It would be completely nonsensical to inactivate Haynesworth today. It's not 60 snaps or nothing. If you don't think he's fit to play a full game, then play him in a reserve role in crucial situations.

Although Kemoeatu had his first moderately successful game for the Skins last week, he's still not close to AH.

As WALTHU19 would say..Mike ShanaKLAN is a moron starting that slow/unathletic white weakling lictensteiger and not starting Haynesworth..and i agree.

No doubt, a little bit of Haynesworth would be better than none. None of our DL are his equal when he's on. Looked to me like he was coming on against the Eagles.

Hope he plays tonight.

When you are done searching and come up empty, please come back on here and let us all know exactly what you found.

Barno, I'm not searching or googling anything. This really doesn't interest me. You've posted on this board a long time and that's the impression you've given me. You don't agree? Fine. Agree to disagree.

For all the out of town skins fans up here...

This was advertised on hogshaven as a place to catch the skins game online. Don't know if it's free, but check it out:

I'd like to drink 12 beers and take Palin out for a steak dinner and then never call her again.

RE Haynesworth: He practiced Thurs and Fri and if they are waiting for him to get in shape to play then they might as well make him inactive for the rest of the season. PLAY him 25-35 snaps and it will be hard for Peyton to run a hurry up if he's lying on his back.

Skins 27
Colts 24

Can we get an official word on whose active/inactive, any other current gameday info? This post has cobwebs on it.!

I don't think you should expect any "official word" until the deadline -- about four hours before game time (I think). Until then, we only have each other.

Beep, that's fine. But it's just silly to call me a Palin supporting libertarian--when I am not either. I am a lifelong conservative, but that doesn't mean I support Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin and that doesn't make me a libertarian. I know it must seem strange to you, but not all conservatives think alike.
