Redskins get a look at Tim Tebow

The Redskins' search for a new quarterback took the team brass to Gainesville, Fla., this weekend, where head coach Mike Shanahan got a chance to see Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow in-person.

Tebow had his Pro Day last week, but Shanahan didn't attend, so this was the first chance since the Senior Bowl in January for the Redskins' coach to view Tebow throwing up-close. Also expected to attend the private workout Saturday were General Manager Bruce Allen and Scott Campbell, the team's director of player personnel.

Tebow, who's expected to hear his name called in the second round or later of next month's draft, unveiled a new throwing motion for scouts last week, which received mostly positive reviews. The Redskins are believed to be the first of at least five teams that will hold private workouts with Tebow.

The Redskins were already scheduled to be in the neighborhood this weekend. The NFL's annual owners meetings begin in Orlando, and Shanahan and Allen were both scheduled to be present.

It would seem that Shanahan and Allen would not waste time traveling to Gainesville if they had only minimal interest in the former Gator star.

But Allen is second to none at hiding his true intentions leading to the draft and is adept at the misdirection game, league sources say. What we know for sure is that the Redskins only offered Jason Campbell a first-round tender, so he could become an unrestricted free agent after the 2010 season. We've been told that Shanahan wants to draft a young quarterback and "raise him," and we hear former Oklahoma star Sam Bradford is the guy he likes most.

But Bradford might not be available when the Redskins, who currently hold the fourth overall pick, select, so it makes sense to keep their options open. Former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen is out there as well, but perhaps the Redskins plan to focus on the offensive line with their top pick. In that case, how Tebow fares in his workout might mean a lot to the Redskins.

Good to see Shanahan doing his due diligence. Even better to see Snyder somewhere else.

Anyway, 11:30 on the west coast is 2:30 here. Sounds favorable to me, plus they can catch a flight home that isn't the redeye.

I don't mind the ankle biters -- I just wish I could attract a higher-quality ankle biter, like you. I'm stuck with this one (under his many screen names) and glawrence.

Let's put it this way. It's hard to be witty when you are good and post constantly and when ... . You have Pavlov dog territory where when the name "Kafka" comes up you are compelled to make a stupid comment about a famous novelist that has nothing whatsoever to do with football. If the Redskins pick up Tebow I'm off of them forever. Who is evaluating the QB talent in that organization? Holy smokes... Jason Campbell has a bad throwing motion (starts way to low...gives up fumbles, and is too long), can't throw to receivers in tight spaces, won't throw the ball early in timing routs. Enough said...if they pick up Tebow...I quit.

look at history, this is the same game Shanny played when he moved up and grabbed Cutler.

He never worked him out and he never interviewed him.

Do you really think he wants Tebow?

There is no way in hell

He knows that Buffalo and Cleveland could have interest and he doesn't want them to move up

This is a power move by the skins and a clear indication that they are up to something.

The #4 pick will be Clausen

Once that happens they will need O-line

They will trade Davis to the Patriots to get 2 of the their 3 second rounders and trade Campbell to Buffalo for a high third

That's how we will build our O-line and get a good speed back

Redskins knew Haynesworth wasn't going to stay

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 21, 2010 5:08 PM ET

Albert Haynesworth's brief appearance in Washington last week was expected.

The Redskins were aware the defensive tackle would only attend for a day, according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post. Haynesworth has chosen to work with the same trainer that he did in the 2007 and 2008 offseasons.

By showing up to the first day to hear Mike Shanahan speak, Reid describes Haynesworth as having "met [Mike] Shanahan halfway."

Haynesworth, essentially, can do what he wants during the voluntary programs. He will be at the workouts at some point in the future. Any displeasure between the two sides about Haynesworth's role has been aired, according to Reid.

"There are no secrets between Haynesworth and the Redskins regarding Haynesworth's feelings about the new defense and his role in it," Reid wrote last week.

I care less about Haynesworth's feelings and more about where he truly fits in a 3-4 defense. The Redskins will pay Haynesworth a $21 million option bonus because of his success pushing the pocket and getting quarterbacks.

That won't be his job in the 3-4 defense, whether he's lining up at tackle or end.

"Tebow....unveiled a new throwing motion for scouts last week, which received mostly positive reviews."

Any above average athlete--and Tebow is one--can fix his mechanics with drills and determination.

But what about his mind?

We present this question as another knock against Heath Shuler, I mean Tim Tebow is, can he read defenses and quickly cipher the coverage schemes NFL secondaries present?

Anyone who has watched the Tebow Era knows he usually had two read--deep, mid-range--and was his own checkdown guy.

He also turned his body towards he wanted to throw--a tendency NFL safeties and corners will readily exploit.

We know he is a leader, and if he's successful in the league, will becomes a star of unprecedented magnitude.

But no one spends millions on a guy hoping him to become a star.

The questions about an NFL quarterback are, can he look off a safety, know a corner is trying to sell him to throw short, but then sense a slot receiver is breaking open across the field, and hit him in stride?

Tony Pike, Sam Bradford, Jimmy Claussen, Colt McCoy, and Jevon Snead--for all their weaknesses/strengths--have shown an ability to do this game in and game out.

But not Tebow.

This is why he's not a second rounder, but a 4th/5th rounder who will have to groomed and given reps just to gauge if he has enough 'it' to outsmart the likes of Sharper and Reed.

Because if he can't, he'll be just another Heisman winning quarterback who came into the NFL and failed because there is no drill to correct a quarterback with a slow mind.

Posted by: MistaMoe | March 21, 2010 5:19 PM | Report abuse

the two second rounders are in the upper half and in this draft, that's equivalent to a late first in any other draft

Hey, id love to get a first and second, but that won't happen

The patriots want/need a quality TE for Brady and remember... we have Cooley and he is one of the best

I can't believe that I can't get any traction on this?

Bottom line is they have no serious interest in Tebow, so why are they there

You can't get the touchdown without shakin' and bakin', even Riggo or Walt Garrison would tell you that, so Tebow very well may be a ploy , as is Bradford, but thats good !! Armanti would be electric with a stout offense around him..

Terps just had to battle back from the well too many times, unfortunately, and Coach Williams ( AND Coach Thompson, wassup) have to be held accountable for a certain amount of lack of initial preparedness...Coming from behind sometimes is fun, but only if you win, and the odds tend to be against it..

Nobody is forcing you to go to games, so don't complain about a choice your making.

Tebow is not going to be drafted by the Skins, this is called throwing our opponets off and never letting them know what you are thinking.

Signing Grossman as a backup was a good idea, there is know other QB that has experience in this offense.

look at history, this is the same game Shanny played when he moved up and grabbed Cutler.

You heard it here first

I've expressed early why I think the Browns will draft Clausen @ #3 leaving the Skins with the opportunity to draft Suh if they desire to. As long as Clausen aces his Pro day, the closer the draft gets Clausen'stock will rise, particularly with as many as 3 other teams in the top looking for a franchise QB. The Browns have a QB in Delhomme to start for them for the next year while Holgram reshapes the team into his vision. In Seneca they have a mentor for Clausen who knows the WCO. In addition that teams has a strong OL already. As far as the Bucs go, they will still be in play to get one of the top three defensive players in the draft but will be getting that player cheaper and acquiring another draft pick or two.

Holmgren on Clausen: "I wish I liked him more"

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 21, 2010 6:33 PM ET

Mike Holmgren has picked up two quarterbacks this offseason, and says he plans to draft another.

Just don't expect Holmgren to select one in the first two rounds. Holmgren never has drafted a quarterback that early before, and he doesn't plan to this year.

"This year it would be pretty hard to use the second [round] pick to get a quarterback. It would be pretty hard for me," Holmgren said to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "Next year might be easier. . . . But I'd have to have another second-round pick [to take a quarterback in the second round]."

Holmgren seems likely to have a chance to take Jimmy Clausen with the seventh overall pick. But that's not going to happen either.

"I wish I liked [Clausen] more," Holmgren said. "You know how you have a type of player that you like? It's not scientific. People like him a lot. He'll go high. But it would be hard for me [to take him]."

Wow. Unless that's a serious misdirection play, Holmgren's candor shows why he wanted to invest so much in veteran quarterbacks this offseason.

I'm aware of this and have posted about it countless times.

He dinked and dunked in 2008 and much as he dinked and dunked in 2009.

Campbell's name spelled backwards is "Checkdown".

To re-iterate, I think Jason Campbell is a nice guy and decent NFL quarterback.

But he's not an accurate deep thrower, despite his great arm strength.

And it appears that he lacks that certain 'something' that separates a guy who is good from a guy who is great.

He'll be traded on draft day for a 3rd or 4th round draft pick if we are lucky.

And that that pick should turn into a guy who blocks for Sam Bradford.

watched the Casserly video before. Campbell completes 3 of 4 passes on that video, 2 that went for 1st downs.

Moss was well covered, Campbell made a reasonable decision not to go that way. ARE was wide open, but so was the RB -- and ARE was in a position to block on the play if the RB cut towards the middle.

The last play to Cooley was the only one that stands out, and we're missing information since we don't know when Campbell's drop back ended. The QB should be stepping up to throw as the receiver is making his cut. Its not clear on the video, but it looks like the timing on that play has Cooley cutting before Campbell finishes his drop

I think Tebow goes in the second. There's just too much hype around him for all the GMs to resist. Take Jacksonville -- they're pining for somebody to fill seats in Florida. And there a lot of committed Christians among NFL coaching staffs. They just love the guy.

But as a QB, Moe is correct, he's a fourth or fifth round selection.

TWISI-

A decision at the quarterback position is key for the Buffalo Bills this offseason. They'll select ninth overall in the first round of the draft, and mocks along the way have projected Jimmy Clausen or Sam Bradford to land in that spot. (The Bills also have been linked to every quarterback under the sun who's either a free agent or on the trade block.) In their dual mock draft published last week, Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay go in different directions: McShay goes with Clausen, while Mel goes with Oklahoma OT Trent Williams.

Kiper's prediction fits nicely with the report from Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News that the Bills likely will give "strong consideration" to taking Williams at No. 9.

We got another option, again via Mark Gaughan: Colt McCoy. It seems unlikely that the Bills don't add at least one quarterback before the season starts (the Trent Edwards-Ryan Fitzpatrick-Brian Brohm triumvirate leaves something to be desired), and there's a decent chance that both Bradford and Clausen will be off the board by the time the Bills pick at No. 9 in the first round. He's not a first-rounder, obviously, but McCoy might make more sense as a second or third-round pick than the player Bills legend Jim Kelly wants, Tim Tebow. McCoy is mobile, which is a plus in Chan Gailey's offense, and he's the type of hardworking, scrappy player who could quickly become a fan favorite in Buffalo. Remember this guy?

Kiper and McShay defend their Buffalo picks down below, but here's NFL Insider Adam Schefter on why Dan Williams (a nose tackle) would make sense:

Adam Schefter
Lots of needs to fill in April
"Both of their lines need help. If there's a defensive lineman that they are enamored with who's available, they'd have no problem going there. Either way, the Bills must hit on the pick."

Mel Kiper Jr.
Time to get started on the O-line
"Dez Bryant could be a temptation here, but a versatile talent like Williams, who has lined up at left and right tackle, would help the Bills immediately. He would aid the run game and help whichever Bills passer is taking snaps stay upright."

Todd McShay
Grab yourselves a new QB
"We think the Bills should go in a different direction, but they need a long-term answer at quarterback, and Clausen is the second-best prospect in this class. Assuming his surgically repaired toe checks out, he likely will be the pick."

Just watched the Casserly clip for the first time. I dunno what the fuss is. We already knew Jason was cautious. The previous season he turned in one of the most turnover-free performances in NFL history. You don't do that by taking risks.

As far as suitability for the WCO, I can't help pointing out that the Skins offense improved measurably once Sherm Lewis got involved in calling plays. Why that is remains a subject for debate. But Sherm had called plays for some of the best WCO teams out there, and I'd want to hear his opinion of Jason in the WCO before pronouncing judgment. How about an interview with Sherm, now that the dust has settled a little?

Last -- when you watch a lot of tape, you tend to focus on the receiver, when you should be focusing on the QB. Because the QB who checks down is often one who can't see downfield because the pocket is collapsing around him.

Actually one could watch all of JC's 21 NFC East losses in career 25 Starts.. but the Casserly breakdown includes great graphics from one of the best NFL GMs.
I'll update the video when Casserly does another national CBS Sports "Jason Campbell is the Problem" segment.
By the way, notice in the segment, Casserly doesnt blame the Offensive Line..

The video breakdown of JC must of really pis-sed off Snyder. CAsserly produced and aired the "JC is the Problem" segment, for CBS, right before the NFL Trading Deadline (the youtube date is the posting date).. And when Casserly speaks, other GMs listen...he is still very relevant.

Casserly's trade deadline timing with the video is more interesting when one recalls the way Snyder abruptly fired Casserly... Charley, who bled burgundy and gold since working for George Allen, wasnt even given time to clean out his office..

LL was brought in to do what he does, stuff the run, and come off the edge to harrass and azz plant the QB while ST21 roamed from sideline to sideline making picks and tea kettling anybody coming over the middle.

Redskins D has been logarithmically worse since he went away. Berry would go a long way toward restoring the natural order. Never be the same as with ST21, but it would be order of magnitude better than it is with LL or Kareem Moore at FS, or Horton or Doughty at SS.

Diesel44 the Bills QB situation is almost as bad as the Skins. I see where Dan Williams makes sense in that the Bills are making the change to a 3-4. However, if the Bills go by the old "grab the franchise QB" motto, they will consider a move up if Clausen's value moves up. All that would be needed is a belief that the Skins or the Browns would draft Clausen before their pick.

Maybe Mickey Mouse can get MD past the 2nd round.

People will point to their comeback in the last 2 minutes, but that was fool's gold.

MSU was undermanned and missing their best player through injury. They were turning the ball over and getting in foul trouble. Instead of MD taking the game by the reins athey totally underwhelmed and it was the Spartans who rose to the occasion. Hit shots and totally dominated the boards.

The fuss is about The Charlie Casserly video is evidence of Campbell getting time to throw the ball and he still can't find an open receiver.

Now i think i deserve some credit for not hammering JC17 lately, the way i did when i first started blogging.

The evidence is not limited to that video, just watch Redskins games.

The point that skinsneedaGM and i are trying to point out is that even if we build a great O-line, JC17 will still be average.

So while we need offensive linemen, we still need a QB. I just want to win. NFL analysts including former coaches and players still concede you need a QB to win in this league! NOT and great offensive line. see Panthers season crumble as Jake Delhomme regresses behind prolly the best O-line in the league with a stud WR and 2 stud RBS.

Sure:

Cleveland (if the team only had a quarterback)

Nawlins (their center and guards keep people out of Brees' face)

Chargers (the fact the LT didn't profit behind good blocking is one fo the reasons he's a goner)

Jints (lest we forget)

Niners (it's more than just Gore, those guys really clear wide lanes for him)

The #4 pick will be Clausen

Once that happens they will need O-line

They will trade Davis to the Patriots to get 2 of the their 3 second rounders and trade Campbell to Buffalo for a high third

That's how we will build our O-line and get a good speed back

You heard it here first

Here's my take:

I have no problem with picking a QB at #4, especially if they keep Campbell for a year. Every coach deserves to have a QB who he thinks is "his guy". Campbell was Gibbs' guy.

If the Redskins pick a QB at #4, I would want to see the rest of the draft to say whether it was a good move. If they pick a LT/RT in the 2nd round, then it's not so bad.

The only way that a QB at #4 is if he has to play right away.

I would love a LT at #4, but the truth of it is that we need a QB that can consistently make plays...not a guy to "hold us over until next year".

While you won't mistake them for the HOGS, we may have some young talent along the Oline.

I am concerned with the CB position.

abxinc.
Maybe you didnt listen to the video?

Casserly's point in the CBS segment was that JC misses open receivers who would provide longer gains and/or scores. Its the reason nearly 80 percent of his 2009 completions were for 10 yards or less. And the reason he is near the bottom of the QBs in NFL history with 900 or more completions for TD efficiency (200th out of 219). Its also the reason he only had 6 INTs in 2008...he plays safe and very short.
As seen in the video, he dumps off to the safe outlets. To use the only example of a QB with the same personnel..
Collins was in for the last 4 plays of the Gints game and went 2 for 4 for 57 yards.. 47 to Moss.. He would of been 3 for 4 but sleepy Davis dropped a 20 yard TD pass (next play was the swinging gate).. Collins nearly exceeded JC's total yardage for the whole half in 2 completions. The point being Collins recognized the longer gains. The same open receivers that Casserly points out, in his video break-down of JC, that JC ignores in his short dump offs.

I think JC was becoming a bonafide starting QB back in 2007 but, he was never the same since the serious season ending knee injury that year. He came back as an overly cautious, dump off QB.
Maybe Shanny can coach confidence and fearlessness, in the pocket, back into JC? It will be interesting.

Why do you keep using that lame 4 plays against the Giants? The Giants did not react immediately to the change in QBs. If you want to see how Collins played with the poor Redskin OL check out the KC game were he played an entire half. It is easy to watch a tape in slow motion and stop and rewind and disect each play but a little harder to do the same during a game. Campbell isn't Manning or Brady but given the right tools he can be effective. I think back to the 6-2 start Zorn's first year when the OL was intact.

dam-n you're right KennyB..ummm... grassy knoll theory..

Gibbs 2.0 is going down in flames in 2007.. JC is in an 0-4 W-L spiral...and the team is 5-7 without hardly a chance to make the playoffs... In the next Chicago game a "certain" player is inserted into the OLine..and eventually Ole' straight to JC's knee.... JC is out and a QB that knows the Offensive Coordinator's Playbook like his wife's arse.. comes in to win the game (Gibbs called it the greatest "QB Off The Bench Win" he had ever seen) and Collins takes the team on a 4-0 W-L run to the playoffs and Gibbs 2.0 legacy is saved. Gibbs quickly retires for family reasons. However, he is seen at the New Hampshire Nascar speedway one week later..??

You might want to review the tape before you blame Campbell only for these loses:

Phi - Redskins ahead 22-13 4th quarter - 45 yd TD pass to brown (22-20), Redskins go up 25-20 - 57 yd TD westbrook, then sack fumble eagles score again

Dallas - 4 TDs by Owens (4, 31, 46, 52). Yes Campbell threw late INT when driving but he did have 348 yds and 2 TDs

Tampa - 19-13 loss, 4 fumbles (1 by Campbell) lead to 16 points. Campbell did have two late INTs when he was driving team and ended up with 301 yds and 1 TD

Buffalo - Campbell had bad game but Redskins still lead 16-14 with 56 seconds left in the game. Defense then lead Bills drive to the Redskin 33, Gibbs called his infamous two TOs in a row and the Bills kicked game winning FG.

Yes Campbell gets his share of the blame to to claim that he choked and lost all 4 games is not accurate.

Speaking of UMD...
last time I went to a UMD BB game as a kid.. I was in the nose bleed section with my friends watching the game.. and there was this guy, smoking a cigar, sitting directly behind us.. We struck up a conversation about BBall...and exchanged beer trips to the concessions..etc. Told him we lived in Georgetown..and he gave us a ride back to foggy bottom in his mercedes..
Halfway back..we started to sober up and realized he was Red Auerbach. He was at the UMD game scouting Len Bias. Great guy.. gave us autographs and such.... But I have always wondered if he slowed down his mercedes when we were getting out, seemed like we rolled more than usual.

Anywho...

I'm not complaining if Tim Tebow falls into Redskin hands.

The young man is focused on his craft.

We certainly could do a lot worse.

Posted by: Chia_Pet | March 21, 2010 11:27 PM

Tebow...much like JC would be another guy that you would eventually say it's too bad that their talent, hard work, and character didn't match their performance.

Heck Ben deserves the big house for having no class... hittin' it in the bathroom. He's a professional athlete with oodles of cash spilling out everywhere. The least he could of done was drag her outside and smack that azz behind the dumpster.

For anyone complaining about how the front office is boring and won't sign anyone: Haynesworth is what you get when you rush into things with the checkbook open.

Posted by: lordtwang

Just because the idiot prior administration vastly overpaid for Fat Albert Haynesworth doesn't mean you can't sign FAs this year without risking "another Haynesworth."

The team has 5 draft picks, In addition to needs all over the OL, they are refurbishing the defense (again) too. Where do you suppose they get the bodies?

I don't claim to know, but five picks ain't gonna git it done.

More reason to

1.Trade down from 4 overall if at all possible.

2. Hold off on revamping the defense.

Good to see Shanahan doing his due diligence. Even better to see Snyder somewhere else.

Posted by: League-Source

I whined a lot last year that the Counter-Tray had dropped the lil jab step opposite of where the play went, and hence made blocking that much harder.

I agree League, if by Due-Diligence you mean this is a misdirection play to enable Shanahan to acquire more picks when someone fear's he'll take him w/#37.

They're NFL quarterbacks, and wannabe NFL quarterbacks. They're all hard workers. Its what gets them in the door.

Except for Jamarcus.

Gee thanks for remembering me, Moe!

How about Brando quotes applied to Redskins

Jim Zorn:
You don't understand! I could've had class. I could've been a contender.

Dan Snyder on free agency:
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse.

Vinny the Rat on the press:
You think you're too good for me? Nobody's too good for me. Anybody thinks they're too good for me, I make sure I knock 'em over sometime.

Bruce Allen on last season:
The horror. The horror.

Watch Casserly's video on Jason.. Open WRs deep, and JC takes the safe dump off.

Posted by: SkinsneedaGM

You'd be taking more dumps than patrons at a bad chili parlor if you had to try to go deep behind that pathetic Oline.

I have two thoughts on Redskins receivers "open deep."

1. Photoshop.

2. When a QB is used to a micro-second of protection, he starts looking for the safe short throw immediately.

last time I went to a UMD BB game as a kid..

Posted by: SkinsneedaGM | March 21, 2010 10:19 PM | Report

I can vouch for the Mercedes part. I saw him in a red topless model frequently while walking to work downtown in the late 80s. He was chawing on that stogie at 8am and very overtly being Red Auerbach.

I give and I give and I give on this blog, and now you want me to run the front office too? Okay...

Chad Clifton might have been a good start. And if they are serious about going to a 3-4, mebbe a linebacker, so Lo Alexander doesn't have to play LB, Mac doesn't have to move inside and their two best pass rushers last year don't have to play pass defense this year.

Also dammit, the 3-4 put Fat Albert in a snit! And that's just not right.

As for who they should NOT have signed under Cerrato--don't get me started.

Posted by: TheCork | March 22, 2010 12:04 AM | Report abuse

My biggest beef with JC?

He never once said F' it and ran an audible or changed the protection scheme when the called play was doomed from the get go.

He could have and should have on numerous occasions, and then when Zorn got in his face, he should of told him to shut the F up and call better plays if he didn't want them audibled away from at the line.

The entire team was yearning for one of the team "leaders" with the fancy C on their uni to do something like that. They never did. JC kept dumping it off to keep his stats respectable... because that is what they told him he had to do to earn a big paycheck a year ago. High completions, no fumbles, no picks.

The other great team leader talked about his team mates and took dirty laundry to jreid's text inbox. And we all can see where that got rock.

Shanny cut rock, and hasn't said shinola about JC other than "he'll be here". Not what I would cal la ringing endorsement.

CP got called out and had expectations listed... twice. If I'm JC, I'd be at the park 12 hours a day learning the offense and working on my accuracy down the field.

I bet Colt is.

From the main posting:

"We've been told that Shanahan wants to draft a young quarterback and 'raise him,' and we hear former Oklahoma star Sam Bradford is the guy he likes most."

Shanahan must have a lot of confidence he'll be in Washington long enough to raise anybody.

But what if Tebone sucks like everybody predicts?

THEN WHAT?!?

Draft O Line. After that, draft O Line. After that, draft O Line.

It's not brain surgery. We have needs. The draft can easily fix them. We don't need Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen OR Tim Tebow. We need O FREAKIN' LINEMEN.

DONT MAKE THIS HARDER THAN IT IS.

DO YOUR JOBS, YOU OVERPAID MORONS.

FIX THE PROBLEM.

Yeah, so if Shanny wants to bag an 18 year old Ukrainian chick with mammoth breasts, doesn't mean it's part of his job description.

I'm not interested in his love of young men.

Draft O LINE.

Anything else is up for suspicion. DRAFT O LINE, YOU WEIRD MFS. I DON'T CARE IF YOU WANT AN APPRENTICE, PAY FOR THAT ON YOUR OWN TIME.

WE NEED AN O LINE TO BLOCK FOR OUR RBS AND QBS.

DON'T GET PAID TO PLAY DADDY.

DO YOUR JOBS!!!!!!

Agreed on both points 1 & 2

But its tough to trade down from a high pick and Shanahan is gonna do what he's gonna do.

Please....JUST SAY NO TO TEBOW!!

I'm sorry.....there is no way you can put a virgin in the most important position for your NFL Team.

NFL Stardom brings to much temptation and lavish lifestyle.

Can you imagine putting a guy who has never had sex in as a QB for the REDSKINS???

I'm sorry...any red-blooded male would not be able to resist the amount of hot females and focus on football.....

Wow, thanks to Moe for the blog love last night, calling me an "RI celebrity". Although, if this blog is what I'm famous for, perhaps I need to reevaluate my career path...

Anyways, pass on Tebow. Love his intangibles, but it's the tangibles that concern me. I'm not convinced you can change your mechanics overnight and I'd rather see someone else take the risk.

I can't emphasize enough the need for this team to focus on building the O-line this year. Everything I've heard is about how great and deep this draft is for O-line and how next year will have a better crop of QBs. If that's the case, I'd rather see this team load up on O-line help NOW and pick up that "QB of the future" in 2011.

Hopefully, Bruce Allen already has this plan in place and is just disguising his intentions.

Really? THAT'S your concern? Not his throwing motion, not his ability to transition from a spread offense to a WCO, not his ability to get the ball from center, but you worry that he hasn't been LAID?

A.C. Green was a pretty good basketball player back in the day and played for the LAKERS! Last time I checked, that's just a slightly bigger deal than playing for the Redskins, even in our hey-day. If Green can stay off the poon as a key player in L.A., certainly Tebow can do it as a backup in D.C.

I can't even believe I'm addressing this. Wow. Just wow...

I wouldn't say that, Cutler had probowl numbers with Shan. The D was the down fall of his team over his last few years in Denver

Posted by: pikedawg | March 22, 2010 8:04 AM | Report abuse

In a normal year, I would think trading down might be a good idea. This year..we have lost our pro bowl left tackle. He was a #3 overall pick. We need to draft the best O tackle available..forget the rest until the other rounds.
Guys like Tony Pike will be available, and history shows that quite a few top NFL QB`s have not come from the first round.
How do we know JC can`t do the job with a good O line and some more productive running? Considering his O line and running backs..he put up decent numbers.
PUT A ROOKIE BEHIND THE SKIN`S O LINE AND HE WILL WET HIS PANTS.

Tebow's now being talked about as a 2nd or 3rd round pick as a QB. You have to be impressed w/ this kid. Last year no one thought that w/ his mechanics he would even be drafted as a QB. He's put himself into the conversation by working his as* off. You could do worse than spending a 2nd round pick on him, he's a winner....

Posted by: randysbailin | March 22, 2010 9:31 AM | Report abuse

Tebow will be good, but is a bad fit for us; we would ruin him with our shotty O-Line. That is why you draft O-Line. Stick with Campbell, Grossman, and Brennan at QB for now, see how it works out; it's not like any of us are expecting to make noise next year.
