Samuels Is a Late Scratch

Tackle Chris Samuels was a late scratch with inflammation in the cartilage in his right knee. He participated in warm-ups but was unable to go. Tackle Stephon Heyer is starting in his place.

Safety Chris Horton (ankle) is also out. Mike Green, who has been with the team just a few weeks, is starting in his place. Running back Ladell Betts (knee), corner Shawn Springs (calf), Cornelius Griffin (shoulder) are also out.

QB Colt Brennan, WR Malcolm Kelly, OL Chad Rinehart are healthy scratches.

First?!

Perhaps Campbell will have a better passing day now with Samuels out and the running game suffering? A little worried I am..

Hopefully not MRSA.

Any word on how JTaylor's calf held up in warm-ups?

Sad to see Horton out. I love watching that guy play. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite players.

At first I thought this will be a easy win. Now I think it will be a tight game.

This, friends, is not good. Samuels, Springs, Horton, all core guys. Super smart and all.

The Lions better be who we thought they were, or we are going to lose this game.

We've still got Rodgers on Johnson, with help from LaRon.

We've stll got our run D.

Stay medium, people!

Heyer's been practicing at LT for most of two weeks now, right?

I thought that was the ultimate reason for not being able to switch Jansen and Heyer.

Samuels had a 'personal issue' this week, now a bad knee. Should I start the conspiracy theory bus?

Stating the obvious, but Horton seems like a big loss. Especially considering his replacement is a journeyman who's been here less than two weeks. What happens if Green goes down? Kareem Moore? Ouch...

Well, I'm not scared but, who is the backup tackle now?

Posted by: craig2 | October 26, 2008 12:14 PM | Report abuse

There is no fourth tackle listed, so anybody got a guess who would get the nod at either tackle spot if there is an injury?

Posted by: craig2 | October 26, 2008 12:26 PM | Report abuse

With the Redskins game being played in a roofed stadium today, at least we don't have to worry about the sky falling.

Got to be Fabibi at OT.

Posted by: frediefritz | October 26, 2008 12:29 PM | Report abuse

Rinehart is a healthy scratch, so Fabini and Geisinger are the only OL on the bench.

Yeah Fred, just saw that, now that does concern me a bit.

I guess we'll see just how good the Skins really are today.

There's a lot of this team's leaders and talent on the bench.

They'd prolly switch Springs over to safety if he can go.

Posted by: mattsoundworld | October 26, 2008 12:38 PM | Report abuse

I guess I should have read the post which said Springs is also, eh? Yeah could be bad

Posted by: mattsoundworld | October 26, 2008 12:39 PM | Report abuse

Did Keyshawn Johnson REALLY say that the only healthy playmaker for Detroit is...>"KEVIN Johnson and Shawn Springs is healthy and can shut him down??"

Did I miss something

Folks, lets not underestimate their QB. He looks like a SERIOUS BAMF!!!!!

Springs hasn't been healthy since the Dallas game

Ya know, ordinarily I loathe talkin' babies, but I still heart the e-trade tot. And the commercials are old...so old the kid is probably a juvenile offender now. But I like them nonetheless.

Posted by: Cindy Boren | October 26, 2008 12:43 PM | Report abuse

Right. Samuels is our best OL, Griffin is our best DL, Springs is our best corner, and Horton is rookie of the year. That is a lot of talent to lose. Thankfully we are playing the Lions, but it is going to make it a tough road game.

Good grief, those are alot of late scratches to key players. If I have to deal with another nail biter with a mediocre team...

Breaking News: The e-trade tot has been kidnapped by The BK King.

What is going on with Chad Rinehart? He is always inactive.
