over on the Bog a couple days back, there was a 'Skins not in HOF' discussion.

Larry Brown came up, some thought him unworthy. Well, Floyd Little made it, with stats that are not as good as Brown. And for those who want to see how tough a runner Brown was, this clip has several runs where he is shredding tacklers

Some guys were posted retarded runnin's with Brokeback fans. I've got a quick one to add that I saw on the way home. I was headed south on I-5 and I saw 2 cop cars had an SUV pulled over. They had a guy pinned to the ground. He had 14 inches of underware hanging out of his shorts and his head was smashes to the ground while he was obviously resisting. On the back of his SUV as a spare wheel cover was a Brakeback Ballbags wheel cover. He was gettin' what he deserved.

Larry Brown was one bad cat. Too bad George Allen pounded him into the dirt. His last two seasons, he could barely walk. Look at his stats for his first 4 years and you will see the kind of back Larry Brown was.

I always have to wonder how much longer he would have played in this era with better sports medicine and coaches that teach you how to protect yourself when you run. He threw his body around like he had a spare one in the closet.

Says a lot about a person when they have no ties to a certain area and pledge allegiance to a random team.

Here's my teams…Skins, Terps, Caps, O's, Bullets…Can you tell where I'm from. Just like you can't pick your parents, you can't pick a team based on popularity. I'm still convinced that most Cowboy fans are also Yankee fans.

Hey Tampax! Welcome back to the blog. What's the matter? Internet doesn't go all the way back to that Sh!thole you live in in Tex-ass so you gotta hang here.

Gotta be a hollow feeling when you take shots at another team knowing deep down inside your own team has a bourbon soaked wax mannequin for it's owner/GM who is NEVER gonna go away, Porky Pig for the head coach and - well...Tony Romo for QB.

No wonder why you left. Big wonder why you'd go back - oh that's right, your kid sis is waiting in the trailer with that perty little outfit on.

At least tourists have something to look at when they visit our town, unlike that glass-box and cement dump they call Dallas.

I have a theory about QBs -- you can tell very early what it will be all about. I could on Gus Frerotte in the preseason game, and today for Jimmy Clausen - thats an NFL QB. Speaking of someone who is not...

Jason Campbell is who we thought he was. The only thing Al Davis will find is another year of not Jim Plunkett, be simply plunking another year of his winding down life, and some more cash on a team run by Cable. I just get my Internet and TV from Cable and it is a freaking rip-off.

...but I am just a JC17 "hater" right?

Nah...Campbell is what he is and that is an average NFL QB, Clausen would be lucky to be in the same class of a Campbell and a Gus.

Posted by: Diesel44 | August 13, 2010 1:35 AM | Report abuse

Sounds like the same Jason Campbell to me.....THANK GOD WE GOT RID OF HIM!!:

"Oakland's new starting quarterback Jason Campbell never came close to scoring on his four drives. Then again, he was facing a defense that came out with regular-season intensity, with linebackers Bradie James and Keith Brooking treating Campbell as if he was still with the rival Redskins.

Campbell's first two drives went three-and-out. When his final series got rolling, the top nickel unit came back for a fourth-and-1 and Campbell's pass sailed way over his target, tight end Zach Miller.

"It was the first time in a long time that I had some jitters in pregame warmups," said Campbell, who was 7 of 13 for 49 yards. "Once the game started, I was OK. I felt comfortable. I'm just trying to learn my teammates."

Campbell converted only one third down out of six. He was sacked once and didn't have a turnover. He also indoctrinated himself as a Raiders QB by throwing deep twice, once down each sideline; the first was broken up by a rookie free agent, the other was caught out of bounds."

Posted by: GoonieGooGoo | August 13, 2010 2:14 AM | Report abuse

quick note -- Campbell was 1 of 6 in getting a 1st down when passing the ball in 3rd or 4th down. 4 of those 6, he threw the ball short of the 1st down.

he faced (and didn't get)
3rd and
8 (complete for 4yds)
9 (inc, would have been short anyway)
19 (complete for 8 yds)
5 (complete for 4 yds)

He made a 3rd and 3 (7 yds) and missed a 4th and 1

On 3rd and 4th down -- he was 4 of 6 for 23 yds. But only 1 conversion.

If it sounds familiar ....

Posted by: zcezcest1 | August 13, 2010 3:13 AM | Report abuse

what I saw with dallas vs the Raiders

remember, it was just 4 days after the HOF game for dallas.

romo got sacked 3 times -- all coming from his right side. Twice, his RT got beaten, 1 was a coverage sack. 1 sack came by an LB, not sure who he beat. romo coughed it up on that one, but a dallas lineman recovered it.

doug free, who looks to win the LT job, played well. When they switched to the 2nd team OL, alex barron, the backup LT got beat and gave up 2 sacks in the 2nd quarter -- both to the same guy that doug free played against.

romo had a few nice throws, but he also nearly got picked -- roy williams made a nice play to knock the ball out of Nnamdi's hands to save the INT. miles austin had a nice catch. only witten and austin looked like threats catching the ball.

romo dropped back 11 times. 3 sacks (w/1 fumble) and 1 near INT. He ran once and completed 4 passes. its early, but nothing impressive.

The 'pukes didn't run effectively in the few carries they had against the OAK starting defense. neither barber or jones looked all that quick.

The 'pukes placekicker boomed his kickoffs -- I think all went for touchbacks. The starting punters seemed to love it indoors.

The pukes starting defense looked fast. Not surprisingly, both defenses were ahead of the offenses.

Of note, Rock had a decent night for OAK, but Michael Bennett, his competition for the 3rd RB spot, had over 100 yds of offense. Colt didn't play. Too bad, that'll cost Al Davis some jersey sales in Hawaii this week.

Campbell didn't look all that good -- he was throwing shorter passes on 3rd and longer. The timing was close on the deep throws -- very good throws would have gotten long gains or TDs. One throw was about a yard under thrown, allowing the defender to get an arm in the way of a catch. One throw was caught, but one foot was out of bounds (due to the throw). The good news, McNabb going deep to Moss is going to be a real threat.

And I just IGNORED Forsythe. I mean, if you thought my nasty rude comments about you and Maese were great, just IMAGINE the knocks I had on Forsythe. I was embarrassed for him within the first 10 seconds. But, he came around.

You guys will be great. No doubt about it. Don't pay me a second's thought. Besides, what else are losers like me supposed to do for fun?

If I could write half as well as you and had the job you have, maybe I wouldn't be such a tool.

Keep it up, Dan. I got confidence in you. You should, too. I know coming up with text is different than conversation, but you're a sharp guy. You'll get it. So, to conclude my belly-scraping apology, I'll leave you with this: you should have told me to shove it up my non-thinkin ass.

Next time.

Some of you guys are real pieces of work...JC is long gone and yet still hating on the guy. How people can hate him more than the likes of Gus Frerotte and Jeff George is beyond me...

Another former Skins QB we burned a 1st rounder on did pretty well last night...Patrick Ramsey looks like he's got the Saints backup QB gig on lockdown.

We're mere hours away from the return of Redskins football, friends. Can't wait...

And preseason is meaningless...

Unless you are Jason Campell, getting your ass handed to you right outta the gate... BEFORE the gate, actually.

Or if you are Colt Brennan and preseason inevitably leads to a hip replacement surgery and another year on IR.

That's your problem, you win a few games in the regular season and you're happy. Try winning in the post-season, at least more than ONE GAME in a decade in a half. Silly little boy lover.

OOOH, Mr. Steinberg, sir! You're such a star and I'm such a little nebish. Can I please have your autograph? Can I get a picture of you and me together so I can put it on Facebook? You're just the greatest.

He was born to be a backup. Spurrier never wanted him. Remember when the 'Skins drafted him -- after trading down twice -- and he held out and we tried to trade his rights to Chicago? We should have taken the ham sandwich while it was fresh.

AHAHAHAHA- Talks junk about Dan Steinberg, DS calls him on it, then he punks down hard.

You're a celebrity Dan, I'm so sorry for being a jerk and saying you sound like a girl. Can I get on my knees for you?

I really like the fact that the Cowboys offensive line smelled like doo-doo last night. Trouble in the red zone, anemic running game, and giving up sacks on the quarterback all suggest the big guys up front aren't getting it done. Now, Mr. Haslett, are you paying attention?

Posted by: RedSkinHead | August 13, 2010 7:31 AM | Report abuse

Cowpies are overrated...they'll be lucky to get 10 wins. It's laughable to me that "experts" can keep picking them this year when they clearly have a decidedly average head coach, an offensive coordinator who thinks he's calling plays for the Saints, a much tougher schedule from last year and a roster that is clearly worse than the one they had last year. All I need is Romo on IR and 6-10 is all theirs...

1 string Dallas O has ZERO TDs in two preseason games. Keep on pumping them up, they will disappoint gloriously this year. With their TEs going down their one Witten injury away from being in real trouble.

Doug Dutch look pretty bad last night very happy with that trade. Mt Cody got a false start??? but also looked good against the run game, him and Haloti could be a force for them.

Re: Thinker v. Steinberg

Got turned around quicker than Alex Barron in a preseason game. Dude, how sissy was that?

Re: 'Girls

I said it weeks ago. For all the broo-ha over their skill positions, the 'Pukes have taken a step back on their Oline, which means disaster for pig-eyed Romo. And since they have no coaching to adjust, it's going to be a very up-n-down season for the Brokebacks.

Re: Jason Shambles

I said that when he finally got traded, I would not continue to track his mediocrity from afar - and I won't. We saw 50+ starts from the guy. We know who he is. We know what he's made of. A move to the Raiders will not transform him into Doug Williams. All I want is a mea culpa from the now defunct JC Defense Union...

T Cody did indeed look pretty good going against Carolina's A-Team.

And it looks like the ravens might just finally have an offense.

Speaking of having an offense, I just can't wait to see what the skins put on the field tonite.

One long scoring drive out of the 1st team offense (7 points, not 3) is all I want to see.

I think he left it all on the field in practice last week. Those Ravens practices will take it out of you. (Assuming it was ever in you.)

Posted by: beep-beep | August 13, 2010 8:09 AM | Report abuse

I feel good that the players Shanahan and Allen have parted with really are the duds they thought they were: Dough Dutch doesn't set the world on fire in Baltimore, Campbell shows the same deficiencies in Oakland that he had in Redskins land, and Marko Mitchell can't find a home. My point? Well, finally we have a front office that can distinguish between studs and duds, and clearly Vinny didn't have that gift (need I invoke the specter of Jeremy Bridges to highlight my point?). This makes me feel a little better that when this staff demotes Devin Thomas to 3rd string, there is a darned good reason for it.

I'm a little greedier Moe. I'd like to see McNabb have time in the pocket, the running game in high gear (100+ yards by all backs), and I want to see some turnovers by Haslett's revamped defense (give me two: 1 int and 1 fum rec) - as well as that long scoring drive you mentioned (6-8 minutes topped with a TD).

Posted by: RedSkinHead | August 13, 2010 8:16 AM | Report abuse

Yeah Dallas looked pretty mortal, and JC 17 looked anemic, but it's only round one of the preseason, so let's not bury anybody yet.

Oh, who am I kidding...

If the Dallas O line can't get it together, the wheels are gonna come off that bucket.

Waiting with great anticipation.

Things I want to see tonight:

- Trent Williams lock it down on the left
- The interior O line controlling the line of scrimmage and creating lanes
- Portis finding some speed again
- A WR besides 'tana making plays
- 7 points form the starting O
- Cooke and Capeers in action!
- D line stuffing the run
- Andre Carter vs Alexander battle
- PRESSURE!
- Banks busting a big return on ST's

Things I don't want to see:

- A bunch of 3 and out's in the first Q
- Injuries
- Moss tweaking a hammie
- Heyer helping McNabb straighten out his helmet
- Double moves cooking our DB's.

Do I ask for too much?

I could barely hear the audio on this recording. I had the player volume cranked to 100% and my speakers cranked to 100%, and had to lean close to my laptop to hear what they were saying. Videos on other sites can be heard just fine.
