Redskins Not Sharp in 1st Quarter
Neither starting unit for the Redskins looked sharp in the first quarter, with the Redskins' offense punting on both of its drives and the starting defense giving up a 13-play, 67-yard drive - though they did hold on to limit Baltimore to just a field goal.
Perhaps the most worrisome fact, other than the misspelled Ladell Betts jersey, is that Justin Tryon has given up two huge gains on slants in the latest drive. Playing with a huge cushion, Joe Flacco has been able to hit a quick drop on the slant with gains of 16- and 15-yards, respectively.
The Ravens right now are picking on Tryon, which doesn't bode well as he looks to get more playing time this season.
Other quickie observations: Smoot lining up at free safety, no big plays by rookie Brian Orakpo, quarterback Jason Campbell taking a few hits.

That's not exactly how it went down. the WR dropped a pass that hit him in the chest. Not great D IMO. The D was lucky to escape with giving up 3.
I know no game planning, starters missing etc... same for Ravens though and the way the D is getting handled shows how pathetic our O is, again only in my opinion.

The Ravens don't have all their starters either and they've managed to march up and down the field on the 'Skins (granted they only got fg's) and their D has managed to keep the 'Skins off the scoreboard. So what's that about missing starters again?
As for Glenn Beck, I'm more of a Hannity guy. Dude keeps it real.

If you want to evaluate the upcoming season based on this game go ahead but i do believe there's a hearty amount of statistics that prove the preseason means little in predicting the outcome of a season's outcome. Remember Spurrier's first season with skins? We had Shane matthews and Danny Wuerfell looking like Joe Montana...

I'm not predicting a season based on the first preseason game, but it is the first for the Ravens too right? I'm just saying the Skins look too much like last year on O and I guess we all should expect that given the relative lack of attention in the off season. @Poop
Just saying. Lions went 4-0, so we can have some perspective during this game tonight. I think the third preseason game is when you can start making some more educated judgments about teams. That game is a little more predictive than the first, second or fourth games. Now, how the Skins perform in that game won't be a 100-percent accurate portrayal of how they'll play during the season. But because starters get extended minutes, you get a better sense of how the offensive and defensive units will perform.

Not impressed with the defense in this one. If that's supposed to be the stouter of the two unites, I was hoping to see more from them, even with Haynesworth and Rogers on the sidelines.
Can't say the lack of offense surprised me, though. Collins moved the ball well against the second unit.

It makes sense for Philly to sign Vick. McNabb probably won't make it through 16 games without an injury.

it was barnes...and a first half review is that we can't seem to make a play on offense and tryon sucks, and barnes doesn't look much better

===========================================
Are you trying to say we shouldn't all slit our wrists after being down at the half of the first preseason game?
You don't really care about the Skins, do you.

Cindy, what position is Lorenzo Alexander playing? And did you ever get an answer re your inquiry about moving him to the O-Line? Thanks.

"Where would Vick play in his debut Week 7? FedEx Field, on Monday Night Football, Oct. 26."
I can't wait.
Not.

Radio guys said Kevin Barnes was beat on the TD?
Anyone know?

Barnes fell for the ole double move. however Doughty was SLOW getting over the top..as usual.

At least where I live The Simpsons are on. Something to take my mind off the 'Skins.
Of course, the Redskins may provide more laughs than Abe Simpson and Hans Moleman.

Leinhart looks good against the Steelers.. Maybe we can trade for him.

You can change it to "Redskins Not Sharp in 1st half."

HA, t_e! At 6-2, 200 pounds I'd get mauled at LB. But with you "LB" probably means some classic wacked t_e stuff...
That was Kevin "Oooo, he made a dude puke" Barnes, that got cooked on that TD.
ittdgy, I always suggest a vile of cyanide. A lot more cleaner.

Where, you might ask, would Vick play in his debut Week 7? FedEx Field, on Monday Night Football, Oct. 26.
Posted by: CindyBoren | August 13, 2009 8:59 PM
Possibly but not necessarily. Goodell said he would make a decision BY week six. That means he could decide sooner.

"Tyron is getting roasted..."
Tyron is getting Toasted...
C'mon people, alliteration is your friend.
Flacco flinging freely in front of faint D.
Collins courageously competitive.
Hunter the punter shanks it short.
Davis drops for double trouble.
Deaf Doughty dominates deep.
Bud light ads bore beyond belief.
O-line oblivious to oncoming pressure.
If you must, resort to haiku.
Offense three and out
I want so much to believe
What season is this?
Hail

Wake up and smell the cutting block.

And with all the Eagle-love out there, plus the blessing of Saint Dungy, it won't be any time at all before Vick's playing.

so what did we learn?
Tryon is gone, Fred Davis should be in trouble and Barnes is going to need to pick up the pace.
The O isn't ready for prime time and it'd be nice if Kelly stays healthy. And Orakpo looks like the real deal, even if Sam Huff can't pronounce his name (last time, it was Orakipo). Though maybe the same guy that added the extra 'i' to Betts jersey added an extra 'i' to Huff's cheat sheet

I'm not down on Fred Davis. To fumble you have to firt have possession. He can run and he can catch it. He can be coached up on how to hold on to the ball.

Bird play? Anyone? Anyone?

For those who like to scream about starting Colt Brennan like rabid Republicans trying to shout down town hall meetings, tonight's Colt performance should make you sit down and quiet your mouths.
Please, just stop with Colt. He is far from being even Considered for starting a game in the NFL.
Colt's line:
2/7, 28%completion, 28 yards, no TDs, 1 Int

Here comes Marcus Mason, the preseason All-Star. I like the guy, but I don't know if this team has room for him.
