Redskins Take a Lead into 4th Quarter
The Redskins opened the second half with exactly what they needed -- a big play, of any kind. After the Buccaneers took the opening kickoff, quarterback Josh Johnson unwisely threw into double coverage down the right sideline. Cornerback DeAngelo Hall picked it off and returned it 22 yards to the Tampa Bay 41, the Redskins' first forced turnover of the day.
From there, though, Jason Campbell's struggles continued. Though he scrambled for a nine-yard pickup on third and seven, he had all day to throw on an ensuing third-and-four play from the Tampa 23. But after checking down to wide receiver Santana Moss in the flat, Campbell threw well wide, and the drive stalled. The Redskins settled for Shaun Suisham's 42-yard field goal, cutting the deficit to 10-3 while Campbell's passer rating for the day fell to 16.7.
But after a three-and-out from the Tampa Bay offense, Campbell and the offense put together their best drive of the day. Sparked by a 17-yard pass to tight end Chris Cooley, the Redskins got rolling. Zorn went for it on fourth and one from the Bucs' 36, and Campbell rolled right and found Cooley again, this time for 12 yards. From there, Campbell saved the drive again by scrambling for 13 yards on third and 11, getting the ball to the Buccaneers' 12.
Though Moss was called for a false start, pushing the ball back to the 17, Campbell began to put behind his struggles by finding Cooley on a post pattern on the very next play. The 17-yard touchdown pass with 3:38 left in the quarter looked as if it would tie the game, but Tampa Bay veteran Ronde Barber came off the right edge and blocked Suisham's extra point attempt. Thus, the Redskins trailed 10-9.
The saving grace: Tampa Bay's first three offensive possessions of the second half yielded a total of 14 yards and not a single first down, so the Redskins got the ball back quickly. And from his own 41 yard line, Zorn went for it all. Campbell looked for Moss down the right side, where he faced single coverage from cornerback Aqib Talib, who already had two interceptions on the day. But Moss used a double move to beat him, and Campbell hit Moss in stride, a one-play, seven-second, 59-yard touchdown drive that set off the first true FedEx celebration of the season. The extra point, this time, was good, and with 1:22 left in the quarter, the Redskins took a 16-10 lead -- an advantage they took into the final quarter.

seriously....if a qb is responsible for 3 turnovers, that's more than enough to be benched. It worked that way back in the day for Sonny J and Billy K, or Doug W and Jay S (cough). Campbell is at best an average qb. He needs to sit, even if it's just for a game. It would send a message from the coach. But our coach, for some reason, isn't seeing what a lot of us fans are seeing.

Bringing in anyone at this point in the season won't make much sense unless the missing ingredient is pep talks. It just takes a while to install a new system and a new culture and a new system and culture isn't going to fix the underlying personnel problems on this team.

Even though JC didnt have a terrible 1st half, But had a great 2nd half and those of you that argued last week he cant EVER lead a team from behind. 10-0 in 1st half. Skins win 16-13 off of JC passing touchdowns.

Are you serious?
The best Skin player was Tampa Bay's field goal kicker along with the wind. He makes those two FG and this team is 1-3. JC makes one good throw and you are ready saying he led this team to a win? Give us a break.

Yes, I'm serious. That's why I posted it. You misunderstand me if you think I'm saying he deserves to play. But when was the last time you heard about a qb being benched after a win?

Furthermore, whether you like it or not, he did lead the team to a win by virtue of two TD passes. A pretty win? No. An awful performance? Yes. But unless you can find someone else on the Skins who led this team to a win, it was JC, as bizarre as that sounds.
