Redskins trail by 7 after first quarter
An early interception that set up a Dallas Cowboys touchdown might have had some worried that there could be a repeat of last week's primetime beatdown at the hands of a division rival, but the Redskins held strong after that and Washington trailed just 7-0 after one quarter on Sunday night.
Washington started with the ball, but quickly winded up on defense when their first drive ended with a Jason Campbell interception.
A heavy dose of Quinton Ganther had moved the Redskins 19 yards to their own 38-yard line, but on third and 3 Campbell looked for Fred Davis as he moved forward in the pocket to avoid the rush and put the ball too far in front of him. Davis tipped the pass and Terence Newman snagged it out of the air, returning it to the Redskins' 36.
Dallas took possession, and on third and 9 Tony Romo found Patrick Crayton for 16 yards to keep the drive alive. Three consecutive runs took the ball down to the four-yard line, and on second and goal Romo scrambled around in the pocket before placing a perfect touch pass to the back corner of the end zone, where Roy Williams had gotten separation from Reed Doughty and the ball floated over the hand of Fred Smoot to Williams for a touchdown to put Dallas up 7-0 with 8:33 to play in the quarter.
Washington started its next drive going right back to Davis for an 18-yard gain, but an offensive pass interference call against Santana Moss on a deep pass down the right sideline pushed the Redskins back 10 yards and the Redskins eventually punted after Campbell was smashed on a third-down sack by Jay Ratliff.
Dallas punted on its next drive after a three and out - Phillip Daniels had a sack on first down and London Fletcher broke up a third down pass with a huge hit on Crayton - and Washington took over with 5:20 to play on its own eight yard line after a holding call on the punt return.
The Redskins took over and started to drive, moving all the way out to the 46 yard line but came up just short on a third and 9 pass to Malcolm Kelly and were forced to punt. Still, the drive had reversed field position going into the second quarter.

pretty ugly so far. Campbell hasn't looked good, the WRs don't seem to be getting open and the OL isn't getting much of a push. Looks like the offense is ready for the offseason.

Thankyou. I was just about to say that. People act like him playing SS and being near the line of scrimmage relegates him from any coverage responsibilites. He obviously sucks at SS too. Oh, what a tremendous call there by the offense on 3rd down, lol.

Campbell is out of here. dont matter anymore. the owner messed him up last summer by trying to shop him for a bum and a rookie. snyder is it. he is toxic waste. remember, they played good for 4 weeks and what does he do - he fires the GM, begins interviewing coaches? don't people know what that does? have you ever worked anyplace where management is fired. it sends people home early to work on their resumes and CVs. it gets them focused on themselves rather than the team (the company) as happy as we were to see Vinny go, it could have waited 4 weeks. look at this team - like night and day. not the same team that almost beat Dallas and the Saints and Eagles. Snyder is the problem. he is a loser, loser, loser.

For the love of God, please the stop the agony. The offensive line is totally borken and the offense has no ability to make big plays. Let Todd Collins play, I've seen enough of Campbell who cannot read the defense and hangs on the ball too long. He has no play making abilities and his Q/B instincts is invariably inept.
