Rinehart leaves game on cart

Redskins right guard Chad Rinehart injured his right ankle on the Redskins' first possession of the third quarter, and was taken off the field on a cart. He will not return.

Rinehart, who inherited the starting job after an injury to veteran Mike Williams, was replaced by rookie Edwin Williams, an undrafted free agent out of the University of Maryland who went to DeMatha.

Williams is now seeing his first action in a regular-season NFL game. He becomes the Redskins' 12th offensive lineman to see action this season. His insertion into the lineup might be an indication of how far Will Montgomery, who initially beat out Rinehart for the starting job when veteran Randy Thomas was lost for the season, has fallen out of favor. In addition, Williams, who has missed time with an ankle injury, is active for this game.

I'm not sure if the Skins can win this game if they continue to give away big plays that put them in good field position. I wonder if any of these offensive guys have heard of a slant. It seems that kind of pattern could be effective. It burned the Cowboys last week repeatedly.

How about a poll about Rino and the cart--

What do you think will happen with Rino?

1. Back in the 4th quarter.
2. Starts next week.
3. IR.
4. Gives up football to become a missionary.

Jerry Gray did an EXCELLENT job preparing the secondary today! This is absolutely impressive!

ARE, what a return, breaks 4 tackles for no gain.......

ARE needs to quit that east and west crap and just go North

Posted by: ThrowItToMyTeam | November 22, 2009 3:16 PM | Report abuse

IR.....I think he actually was starting to get a feel for the game speed..

Posted by: cocodc1 | November 22, 2009 3:16 PM | Report abuse

Yeah, that injury only happened like 15 min ago. Skins need to score a TD here!!

Posted by: ga8085 | November 22, 2009 3:16 PM | Report abuse

Does anybody know why Will Montgomery who was supposedly the guy battling Rhino for the starting job is apparently inactive?

Posted by: zjfr2 | November 22, 2009 3:17 PM | Report abuse

According to alot of posters on here, Cartwright and Betts stink and should of been traded for any draft pick offered

Posted by: ga8085 | November 22, 2009 3:12 PM

Two words: Mason, Alridge.

Also, Hunter Smith might be able to carry the ball.

WOW! WHAT HAPPENED TO JASON TODAY!!! HE'S PLAYING GREAT!!

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | November 22, 2009 3:18 PM | Report abuse

All these big plays by the skins and not much to show for it.

Let's go and get a TD here Skins!

Jason finally is making quick decisions!!!!

Posted by: Thundershock | November 22, 2009 3:19 PM | Report abuse

See. Skins get a big play, then crap it all away with a run for a loss and a false start. They're blowing their opportunities today.

"Malcolm made a heck of a play, most teams passed on him due to his surgically repaired knee and history of knee problems"

Damnit, that timeout could hurt us in the 4th

Posted by: Thundershock | November 22, 2009 3:21 PM | Report abuse

that's strange, false start, clock mismanagement, wasted timeout........we're like a broken record.

Posted by: zjfr2 | November 22, 2009 3:21 PM | Report abuse

Come on! Why does this happen every week? They get in the Red Zone, and they have brain freeze!

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | November 22, 2009 3:21 PM | Report abuse

Here we go. Moving right back out of scoring range.

Posted by: ga8085 | November 22, 2009 3:21 PM | Report abuse

And then they call a TO on top of it all. Gotta capitalize. I guess that's why they're 3-6.

Posted by: CDon | November 22, 2009 3:21 PM | Report abuse

How do you run short on the play clock when you had a penalty before it?

Posted by: Thundershock | November 22, 2009 3:21 PM

Not us. We're better than LSU.

~Sigh~ Let's go Suis!

Posted by: MyPostIDisAfake | November 22, 2009 3:22 PM | Report abuse

Wait, I thought we had to kick on third down.

Posted by: Curzon417 | November 22, 2009 3:22 PM | Report abuse

Out of the TO they get a one-yard completion to DT. Needed a TD on this drive.

Posted by: CDon | November 22, 2009 3:22 PM | Report abuse

Great..another dump off on 3rd down. JC's got to keep his perfect 11 for 11 streak on 3rd down going. That's all the matters

Posted by: ga8085 | November 22, 2009 3:23 PM | Report abuse

should be 9-0 and this game is setting the nfl back 10 years.......

Posted by: zjfr2 | November 22, 2009 3:23 PM | Report abuse

How do you run short on the play clock when you had a penalty before it?

Posted by: fan-o-matic | November 22, 2009 3:22 PM

Because of the way the Redskins send in the plays?

Posted by: League-Source | November 22, 2009 3:23 PM | Report abuse

We need another solid defensive stand! I believe!

Posted by: MyPostIDisAfake | November 22, 2009 3:24 PM | Report abuse

league on a roll today - now, let's hold them w/o a touchdown, and all is well - and if anyone told you the 'Skins would be up 6-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter...?

Posted by: JohnDinHouston | November 22, 2009 3:24 PM | Report abuse

Aikman is right. This game should be ALL Redskins, but the inept red zone O may very well be the reason they lose, again.

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | November 22, 2009 3:25 PM | Report abuse

I would ask him whether the stock market is going up or down tomorrow.

Posted by: League-Source | November 22, 2009 3:26 PM | Report abuse

That's the only way Austin can make a play.

Posted by: learnedhand1 | November 22, 2009 3:27 PM | Report abuse

How is it that the Steelers, Colts, Saints can mange to line up and run plays without jumping off sides? Seriously?

Posted by: SkinsfaninKaneohe | November 22, 2009 3:27 PM | Report abuse

@MrRedskin21

The Skins have only been in the red zone once. And yes, the offense was inept. But up to that point, they couldn't even get in the red zone.

And then the Skins give up a big pass play because the D-line gets no rush. Not the way you want to end a quarter.

It can't be so simple can it? Whenever Romo says "kill kill kill, omaha", they do a draw up the middle.

Posted by: SkinsfaninKaneohe | November 22, 2009 3:33 PM | Report abuse

That was HUGE. Defense stepped up big time down there. And a defensive player not named Hall caught the football. Excellent.

That's the Romo I love.

Posted by: League-Source | November 22, 2009 3:36 PM | Report abuse

another timeout gone

Posted by: zjfr2 | November 22, 2009 3:36 PM | Report abuse

was the minus of Rhinehart really a plus?? The Oline is kicking, now.

Posted by: SkinsneedaGM | November 22, 2009 3:36 PM | Report abuse

Zorn didn't need to call a TO there. They had the ball snapped. And at some point, I'd like to see JC become a man and decide to call a play on his own if it's taking too long to get the call in.

Posted by: CDon | November 22, 2009 3:36 PM | Report abuse

Did that fool just call a timeout because he didn't like the play he saw them about to run?

Posted by: learnedhand1 | November 22, 2009 3:37 PM | Report abuse

They won't need the timeouts if they can score a TD here. They'll just need to eat the clock

Posted by: ga8085 | November 22, 2009 3:38 PM | Report abuse

Who's in for Rhino?

Posted by: fan-o-matic | November 22, 2009 3:38 PM | Report abuse

helmet to helmet "no call" to Campbell.

Posted by: SkinsneedaGM | November 22, 2009 3:39 PM | Report abuse

great job zorn, waste a timeout to call a deep drop which haven't been able to protect all season and stop the clock again.....well done.
