Only two running backs for Lions game
For the second consecutive week, the Redskins will have only two active running backs.
Third back Chad Simpson, who has primarily worked on special teams, has been dealing with a hamstring injury. During the week, Coach Mike Shanahan said he hoped Simpson, who was listed as limited each day on the team's injury report, would be able to play. On Friday, Shanahan said Simpson was healthy enough to contribute.
Second-year player Ryan Torain and rookie Keiland Williams will be the team's active backs. In addition to Simpson, the Redskins' other inactive players are cornerback Kevin Barnes, running back Clinton Portis, linebacker Perry Riley, guard Derrick Dockery, nose guard Anthony Bryant and defensive end Jeremy Jarmon. John Beck is the third quarterback

That's 2 third rounders in their 2nd year not getting playing time again, y'all.
Who does this?
Posted by: MistaMoe | October 31, 2010 12:08 PM | Report abuse
Coaches interested in putting their best 45 on the sidelines. I actually like this approach.
You can't have it both ways--clamor for more players like Zo and AA and complain when they deactivate or cut high draft picks like DT or Barnes. (not accusing you, Moe)
That said, I'm not sure how Buchanon is still activated over Barnes. I guess MS sees them every day, but Philip has been a liability in the red zone.

2nd to repost..
Kevin Barnes, 3rd rounder
Jeremy Jarmon, 3rd rounder
That's 2 third rounders in their 2nd year not getting playing time again
Moe-
Jarmon has played but I'm not convinced his knee is even 90%.
Barnes has size (6'1) and is a decent tackler, I'm shocked he can't beat out Buchanan for playing time.
And of all days he should have been on the field to see his old buddy J. Best.
Posted by: Diesel44 | October 31, 2010 12:24 PM | Report abuse
Buchanan should have been gone yesterday. He is fast with good hands but he is straight up a wimp. I saw him pull up several times as a corner in Houston rather than deliver the blow. I don't think KB has that problem.

"dumby"?
let's move on.
i was merely suggesting that "mentally unable to process information" was a redundant phrase since "mentally" is the only way humans naturally process information. i should have known it would sail right over your underpowered brain.

We'd better, Lions averaging 38 at home this year.

damn. that's a lot of points! today would be the right day to explode on offense..like McNabb keeps saying will happen.

Kevin Barnes and Jeremy Jarmon were not drafted by Shanahan.
Why is it embarrassing to him to put them on the inactive list?
He's going to put the best 45 players out there on Sunday.
These guys are not among that group currently.
Barnes has no NFL experience and can't beat out Westbrook for the last spot at CB on the active list because he doesn't play special teams.
Jarmon is a 4-3 DE that Shanahan and the staff now have losing 20 pounds after bulking up to play in the 3-4 but finding him ineffective at 285-290.
Both players may be in the team's future but they need work.

Posted by: RoyHobbs4
RH this is the conundrum: can't get experience if they can't get on the field. That's the kind of work most 3rd round picks get.
Posted by: ElYeah | October 31, 2010 12:51 PM | Report abuse
Both players (Jarmon/Barnes) may be in the team's future but they need work.
My point is not that the players aren't worthy, but that the team has been hampered by having so many of it's not picks contributing.
LL, CR22-- 1st rounders, mind you--are putting game time.
But we do have a number of top picks who've been sent packing or not playing.
Our top picks at q-back, 2 wide receivers, a corner, and de aren't contributing, plain and simple.
There is no formula of success there,my friends.
That's my point.

It's ok to have only 2 Running backs active, but they need to give some running plays to Williams, last week he had only one carry.

The bad news is we need to run heavy in this game. Maybe its time to give Big Mike a hand off or five.

lichensteiger was drafted by chairman mao shanahan is he any good? this guy only plays bums that he likes and with his favorite player strategy he has sub standard players starting that can't catch a cold or block period, all you have to do is watch the games and see linemen getting blown off the line of scrimmage regularly wr's catching 3-5 passes in 7 games etc. as for barnes any one can see that buchannon is not solid at his position we may never see k. barnes. the old klansman will make up some kind of idiotic excuse about him not practicing hard or he spends too much time in salons.

Rabach on both plays.

McNabb on the turf all 3 plays and we're not good enough to overcome negative plays.

I was worried when I saw the inury report included Lichenwhatever, Hayer, Brown, and Rabach. They all kind of suck already (except possibly Brown), so I knew it could get pretty ugly if they're all fighting inuries.
