Russ Grimm to receive Hall of Fame ring at halftime Sunday

We won't know the status of players like Trent Williams and Jammal Brown until much later this week, but the Redskins already have announced the names of at least a few guys who will be at Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Larry Brown, Pat Fischer, Russ Grimm, Joe Jacoby and Doug Williams head the list of 50 former Redskins who are returning to town.

In their latest effort to re-connect the team with its rich tradition and history, the Redskins have dubbed this weekend's contest the homecoming game. It's the "first annual," so presumably, the team is starting a new tradition here.

Parking lots at FedEx Field will open early -- at 2 p.m. -- and the team has a variety of activities planned for the day.

The Arizona Cardinals have a bye week, so Grimm will be in town. He will receive his Hall of Fame ring during a halftime ceremony with Joe Bugel and several members of the Hogs. Prior to the game, all of the former players and coaches in attendance will be introduced on the field.

The team also has announced that it is helping to sponsor the NFL "Fit for You" 5k walk/run at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13. The registration fee is $5 and proceeds will support the NFL PLAY 60 Challenge, a joint program of the NFL and the American Heart Association. Click here for more information.

I know they're struggling right now, but I'm sure Trent Williams and Jammal Brown will be back in no time.

What about Dex?!?!?!

We know 'Riggo won't be at any such "Homecoming" event unless there's a check in it for him.

will Riggo be there? or is he holding out for money?

What does Devin Thomas think about all of this?

I hope they invite DeAngelo Hall, to make up for his not being invited to that homecoming the Falcons just threw.

F the Cowboys, and may they hire another clown after they fire the current clown.

cowboy player 1: I'm sooo glad they fired the last clwon that was our coach.

cowboy player 2: You mean the mime?

Whateva happened to him?

cowboy player 1: He got stuck in an invisible box and couldn't get out because no one heard his screams for help.

He still was better than that other clown they hired.

That guy spent most of his time juggling his own balls.

Jeff George will be there.

If anyone asks him for his invitation, he can respond, "That invitation stuff, that's all overrated."

It would be nice if they brought Sean Taylor's dad in to represent him.

Story on Rotoworld is that the Colts also put in a claim for Devin Thomas. Devin's wishing now that the stupid Panthers hadn't claimed him first.

the best era in reskins football minus Slingin' Sammy was the era of The Hogs

i'm sure bruce knows, but take a hint and we'll start winning championships when we have the Hogs back and as far as i can see we have 1 Hog, the rookie left tackle

im glad we r 3-2 and we r 2-0 v the east

but, LG, C, RG and RT need some help esp C

Didn't Cerato teach you that those positions aren't important?

Posted by: iH8dallas | October 12, 2010 3:04 PM | Report abuse

o yes, cerrato tried to teach me that when you are in desperate need of oline, you spend 3 2nd round picks on pass catchers who dont do a good job of catching passes and making plays

but i taught cerrato that playmakers cant make plays unless you have Hogs up front protecting the qb, rb who allow the pass catchers to playmake

but it's all good both of us are just fans now and as great of a fan as i am, i cant teach that bama how to be a Skins fan, he's just not worthy

"I need to fill up the Optimism Bus with high octane Kool-Aid."

Please give it enough to where the occasional 2 score win occurs.

These close wins/losses are rougher than sandpaper toilet paper.

Funny you should say this... but yes, Riggo won't come unless they pay him. I got sources & know this to be absolute fact. I wouldn't want him there if I was Dan Snyder anyway, the way he trashed him last year.

I'm not your source but I assume if I already know that, everyone does; thus eliminating the need for sources to leak that athletes are all about money. I can't believe that got out. Is nothing sacred?

That's brilliant. Snyder should pay Riggo for calling him out last year. Moreover, if Snyder really has changed, he should be happy to turn the other cheek and try to reconcile with Riggo -- and there's nothing like a nice big check to get things off on the right foot.

I can't see that happening. You mean throwing money at a problem? Assuming that paying a high profile individual is going to solve all perceived issues? I can't ever remember Snyder doing something like THAT.

So Grimmy gets his ring at halftime and suits up for the second half!

Awesome.

can chris samuels come out of retirement if we're making a push for the playoffs? surely a few more quarters of football won't kill him... we need him! lol

We sure could use Russ Grimm and Joe Jacoby right about now!!
