Haynesworth, Torain among Skins' inactives

By Rick Maese

The Redskins will be without running back Ryan Torain for a fourth straight week. The team has listed him on the inactive list yet again. Despite its struggling running game, the team will again go with only two running backs, relying solely on Keiland Williams and James Davis.

Also inactive for the Redskins Sunday against the Giants: cornerback Carlos Rogers, safety LaRon Landry, running back Andre Brown, guard Derrick Dockery, defensive end Jeremy Jarmon and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. John Beck is listed as the third quarterback.

The Redskins have activated safety Macho Harris for the first time, and with Landry missing another game, he could see some time on special teams and in the secondary. With Rogers missing the game, Phillip Buchanon and Kevin Barnes are also expected to take on an increased role Sunday.

For the Giants, receivers Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith are both inactive. That means that former Redskin Devin Thomas is active for the first time as a member of the Giants.

New York, which hasn't allowed a sack the past four games, will also be without three starting offensive lineman: Shaun O'Hara, David Diehl and Shawn Andrews.

re-f-ing-diculous!

If we were to have ANY chance of winning this game, Haynesworth blowing up the middle like he did earlier in the season was going to be critical.

If he truly is healthy enough to play, but benched because he missed practice Friday with an illness, then that raises some very serious questions.

I suspect there will be more than one side to this story. I sincerely hope that in a game as important as this against a hated division rival, that petty politics did not play a hand in making this decision.

On a brighter note, I am looking forward to seeing more of Banks and Austin. Let's see what these guys can do.

Posted by: edvar | December 5, 2010 12:00 PM | Report abuse

Haynesworth out again? What a return on that ridiculous Snyderatto signing. If he is on the team again next season, I'm tearing up my club seat tickets. Oh wait a minute. I ditched them forever this season. Thank goodness for that.

Not playing Haynesworth against a team that always crushes us? Stupid, horrible decision...he is going to be so happy when the Redskins finally release him and he can play football again for a normal franchise. Just cut him already so we don't have to deal with anymore pi$$ing contests between two grown men. Either that, or play the guy for f--ks sake.

Who loses here Shanarat? The fans...The ones who have to watch the GINTS KILL US again

Posted by: ocskins | December 5, 2010 12:08 PM | Report abuse

Expect a whole bunch of exotic blitzes today from the Skins. I would guess that the defensive gamplan is that our Dbs can handle their Wrs. Hope coach Has is right.

Posted by: TWISI | December 5, 2010 12:08 PM | Report abuse

Is Ryan Torain actually deceased? I'm starting to have my suspicions.

Posted by: SMACK1 | December 5, 2010 12:08 PM | Report abuse

The guy's like breath on a mirror.

Posted by: SMACK1 | December 5, 2010 12:11 PM | Report abuse

Shanahan, you are something else! Get rid of your ego now!! Play Haynsworth. Snyder, intervene, I have no problem with it.

Posted by: matthewrayman | December 5, 2010 12:16 PM | Report abuse

It's been evident since day one, it's not about what's best for the skins, it's about the EGO.

Posted by: kingpenn1 | December 5, 2010 12:22 PM | Report abuse

jeez... shanny's deactivating AH sends a message to the other players alright: head coach is crazy, capricious, and cares more about his little pissing contest w/AH than winning the next game.... gggrrrr.... that's not the kind of coach i'd respect.

i really really hope there's more to this - like albert did something really awful to deserve this - than AH missed friday practice and/or was sick.

please please let there be more to it...

TheCork is a brainwashed left wing monkey. He totes the party line and Obama's nut sack wherever he goes. That is all.

Posted by: scampbell1975 | December 5, 2010 2:20 AM | Report abuse

Scamp, if you put down your Glen Beck crack pipe (use of the term "brainwashed" is dead give away for a 'droid) and actually tried to lean about the real life Democratic Party, you'd understand that Obama isn't on it's left wing.

Posted by: Pepper5 | December 5, 2010 9:13 AM |

Tell that to your best bud Cork d-bag. If you'd actually pay attention to anything I say you'd realize how much of a moronic statement you just made. But then you'd have to actually have a brain for that so I guess that ain't gonna happen. Stick around, you may learn something.

Posted by: scampbell1975 | December 5, 2010 12:24 PM | Report abuse

Haynesworth is sick and has been most of the week. So what the hell are all of you Shanny haters crying about anyway? Sometimes I think this board is just stocked with drones and mouth breathers.

Posted by: scampbell1975 | December 5, 2010 12:27 PM | Report abuse

Well, AH is gone after this season so they might as well see what else they have.

Yeah, I'm really reaching with that argument but what the heck.

Posted by: SteveMG | December 5, 2010 12:28 PM | Report abuse

I bet Manning cracked a smile of relief when he heard Albert is inactive this game.

W.T.F.O?

We need this dude...especially when playing against an immobile, almost pure pocket passing QB such as Manning.

Posted by: smokeybear2 | December 5, 2010 12:28 PM | Report abuse

Hey look on the bright side Devon Thomas will probably have a career day against us. Wouldn't that be a stick in the old ribs.

Posted by: flyinggoose1 | December 5, 2010 12:28 PM | Report abuse

Is this thing turned on?

Posted by: zornskins2 | December 5, 2010 12:29 PM | Report abuse

Jason Campbell got the shaft!
Devin Thomas never got a chance!
Albert Haynesworth is the target of Shanahan!

Any more ridiculous statements to make?

Posted by: SteveMG | December 5, 2010 12:28 PM

The crazy part is that Holliday would be in line for more playing time. That does nothing for the future. Maybe the skins want Bryant (NT) to get some reps.

Posted by: TWISI | December 5, 2010 12:33 PM | Report abuse

A victim of "The EGO of Shanny"

Devin Thomas may have 6 catches, 1 TD and a PR or KR TD.......Why, because the Giants are giving him the chance that Shanny wouldn't.

Posted by: kingpenn1 | December 5, 2010 12:34 PM | Report abuse

Go Skins!!!

Kind of a stupid statement. He MAY also not catch a single pass, get blasted out of his helmet on a kick return, and ride the pine because the Ginas relized what a couple of other lesser teams already have.

See, it could go either way, so to make any argument based on what MAY happen is a fools argument. You're usually better than that penn. Also, let's not be delusional here, the Ginas are giving him a shot because they don't really have much of a choice. You gotta wonder why San Diego didn't.

We'll see at approx. 4pm.....I've been a skins fan for a long time but it's hard to constantly see a team make questionable decisions and consistantly play a conservative offense and a passive defense. Something has to give.............

Posted by: kingpenn1 | December 5, 2010 12:46 PM | Report abuse

AH inactive......

Here we go again. This is getting ridiculous.

Posted by: dcwun | December 5, 2010 12:46 PM | Report abuse

Way premature beep beep

Posted by: scampbell1975 | December 5, 2010 12:47 PM | Report abuse

Well boys, today is the day the season officially ends. We are in for a butt kicking, especially with our only threat of a pass rush against a makeshift Giant o-line is inactive.

After today's shalacking, I hope Shanny stops playing the people he's been phasing out anyway and plays the young guys. It's time to see what we got, and get ready for the combine.

Posted by: clark202 | December 5, 2010 1:02 PM | Report abuse

Again: you can run at the left side of our D with no prob.

Posted by: MistaMoe | December 5, 2010 1:05 PM | Report abuse

The skins should score their usual 3 points in the first half.

Posted by: kingpenn1 | December 5, 2010 1:05 PM | Report abuse

Well, if they can hold them to a FG, that would be a victory.

Posted by: NosferatusCoffin | December 5, 2010 1:06 PM | Report abuse

After the Giants score, at least our D will
be off the field for awhile.

Posted by: DeployedFan | December 5, 2010 1:09 PM | Report abuse

Jesus. What a joke.

I did not know that Brandon Jacobs was actually Barry Sanders.

Posted by: NosferatusCoffin | December 5, 2010 1:09 PM | Report abuse

This is going to be long day...

Posted by: filthy_laugh | December 5, 2010 1:09 PM | Report abuse

Hey skins, way to make me regret benching Jacobs this week.

Posted by: alex35332 | December 5, 2010 1:11 PM | Report abuse

The offseason can't get here fast enough.

Posted by: clark202 | December 5, 2010 1:11 PM | Report abuse

Conservative offense + Passive defense = fill in the fu%$#%^ blank

Posted by: kingpenn1 | December 5, 2010 1:12 PM | Report abuse

Penalty: Check
Sack: Check
Punt: Always

Posted by: NosferatusCoffin | December 5, 2010 1:15 PM | Report abuse

Let's see, the Giants has a 264 pound running back, I got, let deactivate Haynesworth......Brilliant

Posted by: kingpenn1 | December 5, 2010 1:19 PM | Report abuse

You think we can hold 'em to under 35 in the first half?

Posted by: clark202 | December 5, 2010 1:19 PM | Report abuse

They can throw 10 yard outs to Hagan all day, since the Skins DBs never press.

Posted by: NosferatusCoffin | December 5, 2010 1:21 PM | Report abuse

Explain to me why Philip Buchanan is on the field again.

Posted by: MistaMoe | December 5, 2010 1:21 PM | Report abuse

Just pathetic. We should just punt on
first down and get it over with. A punt from our own 40 yard line would at least
put the ball down in bad field position for
the Giants so it will take them a little
longer to score against our so-called
Defense. But, we made a good decision to give AH92 a lesson in discipline. Who cares
about winning?

Posted by: DeployedFan | December 5, 2010 1:21 PM | Report abuse

Can the Dbacks challenge receivers by bumping them within the first 5 yards and not let them run like deer in the open field....PASSIVE DEFENSE

Posted by: kingpenn1 | December 5, 2010 1:22 PM | Report abuse

We're a joke. Two possessions, two easy scores; and tackles our returner on the
kick off so we dont even get near our own
40 so we can punt. Maybe if we dont get a
penalty we can make a 1st down...

Posted by: DeployedFan | December 5, 2010 1:29 PM | Report abuse

Wind missed FG.

Perfect.

Posted by: NosferatusCoffin | December 5, 2010 1:33 PM | Report abuse

So, let me get this straight. A game the Redskins HAD to have to have any shot at the playoffs, and Haynesworth is inactive because he was sick on Friday but is fine now? At some point, don't we lose the training camp rules and say "All hands on deck"? And Manning is running all over the field, the Redskins can't stop him even with half the Giants offensive line MIA.

Posted by: Nemo24601 | December 5, 2010 3:51 PM | Report abuse

As a Cowboys fan I love that Fat Albert is still on the roster.
Truthfully, I feel sorry for the skins and for them having this excuse of a player.
Hey Al - do you really think any team will ever want you after all of this drama?

And on to another note - can't wait til we play the skins again and really hurt some feelings.
