Second Half Starts with a 17-17 Tie
For as good as the Patriots looked at the beginning of the second quarter, the Redskins defense began to establish footing as the quarter progressed and the offense pieced together two quality drives, the second of which ended with a 25-yard field goal by Dave Rayner as time expired, to finish the quarter tied 17-17.
Randy Moss scored on a 27-yard pass on the first play of the second quarter, giving DeAngelo Hall a break and instead embarrassing LaRon Landry as he made the grab falling out of the back of the end zone.
The play capped a nine-play, 84-yard drive that saw Tom Brady operate largely out of the shotgun. As the first-quarter wrapped up, Brady's primary target was Moss, who made three catches on the drive, who was having his way with Hall. The sixth-year cornerback was called for a facemask penalty against Moss. The 15-yard penalty moved the ball into Redskins territory.
Stephen Gronkowski kicked a 43-yard field goal with 9:20 remaining in the quarter to put the Patriots up 17-7. At the end of that series, Brady had already accrued 150 yards passing, completing 12 of his 16 attempts.
Despite Washington's failure to record a first down on its next drive, the Redskins defense forced its first of back-to-back three and outs. That defensive stand included a near interception by parallel-to-the-turf Fred Smoot, as he knocked down a pass intended for Joey Galloway.
Appearing poised to play themselves into another punting situation, the Redskins broke their streak of floundering drives when Campbell lofted a pass to Chris Cooley. The Pro-Bowl tight end rumbled 73-yards, breaking tackles all the way to the six-yard line. Campbell scrambled on third-down from the four-yard line to close the gap to three.
At halftime, Campbell was 11 of 19 for 190 yards while the Redskins gained just 23 yards on the ground.
By halftime, both quarterbacks had taken a beating. Albert Haynesworth fell on Tom Brady, pushing his right shoulder into the ground, and Jason Campbell absorbed a jarring hit on the game-tying drive.

*I'll take a half like that from JC17 any day.
*Not concerned about R.Moss torching our secondary - that's just what he does and he's officially uncoverable.
*Friggin' penalities.
*A little miffed at end of half clock management.
*Would like to see a little more from pass rush
*Nice half from Smoot and Tryon (Did I just write that?)
*I didn't know Suishy was Canadian. That plus his previous affiliation w/Cowboys means he should be cut now, immediately.
*Is it just me or does LL30 seem a step late on alot of plays?
*Keep Mason, cut Rock, let DT11 return kicks.

Campbell looks good, and I hope he has an excellent season and leads us to the playoffs.
Then I hope, when Vinny and Danny want to re-sign him, he walks into Danny's office and takes a dump on his desk and says F U to Snyder and signs somewhere else and becomes successful with another team.

jm220, two things: 1) I'm sorry I don't share your JC love. If he stunk up the joint you would be saying it's only pre-season. I gave him credit for his performance; 2) "Feast or famine" was a reference to the whole offense. The running game wasn't that great and they had three straight three and outs.

Never liked the fade pass in the end zone. But if you're going to run it, you need to teach Kelly how to run it. Last year, he got crowded out in the corner of the end zone. This game, he got crowded out once (the last play before the FG) and didn't turn properly the other time.

No doubt that I'm a Campbell support, but can we stop with this Colt sh*t. No way is he ready. Campbell looked good, but still room for i improvement to get to the next level, but I think he's on his way. Also. can someone get Kelly a DVD of Larry Fitzgerald fade routes. Kelly may not have Fitzgerald's ups, but those fade routes he ran were horrendous. I think the passing game will improve, but I think next year when Kelly, Thoma, and Marko have a full year of reps, this passing game will be nice.

You know, some teams do keep 4 RBs. You can't have all 53 players active each week anyway, so it is possible to keep 4 RBs. Of course, as soon as you have to sign an injury replacement, the 4th RB is the first to get cut.

Had the Redskins not drafted him, he would have never got drafted and we could have signed him as a free agent. Yet, because he made a few plays against 4th team players last year IN THE PRESEASON morons think he should start for this team. Don't cry too hard when he gets cut. I'm sure he'll find a job when the AFL restarts in 2011.

Seriously. He's still in the league. This from Wikipedia:
A restricted free agent in the 2009 offseason, Hamdan was re-signed by the Bills on February 26.

To make room for Mason, cut Yoder and make Lorenzo Alexander your blocking TE.

No need to cut anyone instead of keeping 26 on defense you can keep 25 and there is your extra running back.

Nice to see that Tryon is still out there. I'm sure he's loving all the reps. And, I bet the decent work he put in with the 1st team D only helped to rebuild his confidence a bit

Yeah, Chase but Chase is too small to Big Ben...
Maybe Benny Smalls.
Kevin "Puke" Barnes with the pick!

here is the issue with all of our QB's that I think sums up the last 50 posts:
campbell is going to make it or break it this year
collins is a career back up and can manage the game or a few, not a whole season
if we got to the point where chase or colt were backing up and potentially playing we would be freaking out big time, so even JC were to stay or go, we still need better back ups and I can't see Bradford coming in here as a number pick because our O-line is going to need some revamping next year anyway.

Way too many penalties, Colt realy messed things up. Penalties are killing us. If Colt would have thrown it higher it was a TD, hey we just got another INT, lets get it in the end zone to tie this up. Can't wait to see Chase D.

I think we also need to recognize that it's the first team D versus the second team O-line. Colt is basically under fire every time he drops back. They're going to make him look bad.
That being said, the pick was on him.

And that's what happens with QBs no longer linked to Jessica Simpson.

A lot of people laughed about the draft pick Cody Glenn but he has caused two fumbles in three games and he has made more of an impact than Robert Hanson.
