...and a Scoreless Second Quarter

Wow, was I wrong. The second quarter was even more difficult to digest than the first.

Again, like last week, special teams mistakes are killing the Redskins (Rock Cartwright is a star again, though, making a huge tackle on a return by Joshua Cribbs that might have been heading to the house).

Shaun Suisham's run of field-goal accuracy is over with that miss from 36 at the half. Jason Campbell still does not look right to me, as evidence on that slip inside the red zone at the end of the half.

Everything about this game is brutal right now, save for the ability of the Redskins to run the ball. Given whatever Campbell is going through, I'd try to ride Portis to an ugly win.

Gee, do you think? Dude, no win is ugly.

Let's ride CP, then give the rock to Rock, and then let's give Alexander a few times!

I agree with JLC, maybe give JC a chance to throw on 2nd and 3rd from time to time but I don't expect much of him. May want to trick play them with El at QB or something.

Okay, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" could be pretty funny.

Posted by: CindyBoren | October 19, 2008 5:43 PM | Report abuse

I don't like this at all. I think the holding by the punter was off for the FG. Anyone see anything about that?

Posted by: alex35332 | October 19, 2008 5:44 PM | Report abuse

We should have kept Brooks!

fingers crossed pray to football gods.

Ian Eagle aka Dan Snyder

Still think that most of this is about play calling. Zorn should have gone for it on 4th down on the first series.

Is Campbell injured or just inept today? What's going on?

Posted by: austin987654 | October 19, 2008 5:45 PM | Report abuse

Would a 75 yard TD drive be too much to ask for?

Posted by: skins1110 | October 19, 2008 5:46 PM | Report abuse

Man we got to get something going.

D might need to get a score here since the Offense is unwilling to do that.

Posted by: skins1110 | October 19, 2008 5:50 PM | Report abuse

Can that be right, that the Skins haven't been scoreless in the first half since 1981? Nation, is it so?

Looks like it. This offense is a work in progress and it seems to have taken a step back today.

Dallas game where Moss has 2 TD's 2005. Scoreless til 2 mins left

Posted by: skins1110 | October 19, 2008 5:52 PM | Report abuse

Can they throw the ball down the field for crying out loud!

Posted by: ga8085 | October 19, 2008 5:52 PM | Report abuse

If JC is hurting in that groin area from 1st quarter then JZ should put TC or Colt in there.

Posted by: alex35332 | October 19, 2008 5:52 PM | Report abuse

Second drive killed by a holding penalty.

Posted by: freakzilla | October 19, 2008 5:52 PM | Report abuse

Okay, they said the last scoreless first half of a Skins game was 1981. That seems reasonable.

Posted by: CindyBoren | October 19, 2008 5:52 PM | Report abuse

He didn't pin them deep even though he had the wind in his face, and now he punts very short.

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 19, 2008 4:41 PM | Report abuse
JC seemed to strain a groin or hammy. He's looking OK. Shaun Rogers nose tackle, is putting a lot of pressure up the middle.

Posted by: frediefritz | October 19, 2008 5:53 PM | Report abuse

Ah yes Cindy, that makes more sense.

Posted by: skins1110 | October 19, 2008 5:54 PM | Report abuse

Two Redskins having career years: Carlos Rogers and Clinton Portis. They just keep making plays.

Posted by: talent_evaluator | October 19, 2008 5:55 PM | Report abuse

I say just launch it deep if JC can.

Posted by: alex35332 | October 19, 2008 5:55 PM | Report abuse

Almost makes me yearn for the scorefest that was the Ravens-Fins game.

Posted by: skins1110 | October 19, 2008 5:55 PM | Report abuse

If Double Move could hold on to INTs, he would get Asante Sameuls money by next year........

Posted by: 4thFloor | October 19, 2008 5:56 PM | Report abuse

How are we not winning this game? CP has more yard than Browns total yard.

Moss is a baller.

Heh. I said "baller."

Posted by: freakzilla | October 19, 2008 5:58 PM | Report abuse

Here we go, let's get the ever elusive TD!

It's not easy to gather the Moss, my friends.

Posted by: alex35332 | October 19, 2008 5:59 PM | Report abuse

in 1981 Gibbs 1.0 second game Giants and Skins played a thrilling first half that ended 0-0.

NYG won 17-7
You recall Gibbs 1.0 lost his first five games and said he wondered if he would finish the season, because he had never been a head coach before that season.

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 19, 2008 5:59 PM | Report abuse

We have run more than 100 yards. When that happens we win most of the games. The key on this drive is to at least get three points.

TD portis!

Posted by: alex35332 | October 19, 2008 6:03 PM | Report abuse

JC seems to be setting up and pushing off well. Injury doesn't seem to be bothering him.

It's about time! WOO HOO CP!

Posted by: suzannepdc | October 19, 2008 6:03 PM | Report abuse

CP: 19 carries, 100 yards and (most important) a TD.

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | October 19, 2008 6:03 PM | Report abuse

Their defense isn't going to hold up in the 4th quarter. We're leading in time of possession, 20:15 to 12:53.

Posted by: talent_evaluator | October 19, 2008 6:04 PM | Report abuse

That's what I am talking about! CP Baby

All that man does is score TD's.

Posted by: skins1110 | October 19, 2008 6:04 PM | Report abuse

I hate to say this, but I think we caught a break on that last TD. I saw the replay twice and didn't see Portis cross the goal line.

Posted by: 4thFloor | October 19, 2008 6:08 PM | Report abuse

We need a long drive that gets at least a FG. But we need a TD.
