Kelly Is Active, Davis Is Not

Rookie WR Malcolm Kelly is active for the first time in weeks, as expected, with rookie TE Fred Davis getting scratched.

The rest of the Redskins' inactives are no surprise -- LB Marcus Washington (ankle) and DT Anthony Montgomery (Achilles') are hurt. OL Chad Rinehart, OL Jason Fabini, DE Erasmus James, DE Rob Jackson are scratched. Rookie Colt Brennan is the third QB.

Seattle placed DE Patrick Kerney on the injured reserve list this week, and top corner Marcus Trufant is playing after suffering an injury last week. The Seahawks have scratched K Brandon Coutu, S C.J. Wallace, G Mike Wahle, DT Red Bryant, WR Jordan Kent, TE Jeb Putzier and DE Brandon Miller.

One rookie at a time, or at most two, I suppose.

I was thinking that for the last few games, that third w.r. spot was doing nothing for us. We would have been better off playing Cooley and Yoder, and having two more big guys who can block in there.

Sure it would have been the opposite of the Left Coast Offense, but life deals you cards, and you play them.

We wasted our draft. It is incredible to me that a second round pick, a TE nonetheless, is inactive again. What a waste. So upsetting to me.

Another twisted move by the fron office. They won't davis on the field b/c he's better than cooley. These are the same people who took money from LAVAR. What a joke,Oh Cindy I'm black and proud. Looking foward for my comments to some how get deleted.

I saw Kelly at the first open training camp practice, and he was a monster. Size, speed, and great hands. I hope he gets a few balls thrown his way.

Can this Eagles/Ravens game end now? It is so boring, I've resorted to beer. Mmmm....beer.

I've never heard of any of these guys, and all of the Redskins scratches are like second or third in the pro-bowl balloting at their positions. Something's wrong.

Posted by: talent_evaluator | November 23, 2008 3:19 PM | Report abuse

Obviously, we're saving Erasmus James for the playoffs... at which time, we'll release the fiercest pass rush in the NFL!!!

But none of this will matter if the O-line doesn't help the team put 3 TDs up every game. So I'm not sure what we're saving Chad Rinehart for.

Based on what the NFL said a few weeks back, we will likely miss the beginning of the Skins game if Philly goes over time. Wait, what happens if you go over time?

Wow, Kolb is just as bad as McNabb. Kolb just threw and INT and the camera showed McNabb clapping...

Posted by: Cindy Boren | November 23, 2008 3:37 PM | Report abuse

Umm..I'm assuming Portis is a go? And going back to the drafting of Davis, they defended the pick by saying, "He was the best available player on the board." So by that logic, if a QB would have been the best player on the board at that point, would they have taken a QB?" That pick will irritate me for a long time..

I could be wrong, but it just looked bad because McNabb was by himself wearing the 2008 version of a Starter jacket and he wasn't going up to his teammates trying to pump them up.

No need to tell us about how portis looked in warm ups. Certianly no point in talking about if our offense needs Davis in the Red Zone more than Alexander on the bench.

Just tell us about your dinner last night...that is the quality of redskins reporting we have come to expect from you!

Last week, I pointed out that McNabb had a higher number of pass attempts (58) than his QB rating (50.9).

He's going to do it again this week, but even more emphatically bad (18 attempts, 13.2 QB rating).

Posted by: Alan4 | November 23, 2008 4:06 PM | Report abuse

Do you think he would want to go back in, Cindy?

This stuff gets ugly with a good pass rushing defense and offense that's down big in the 4th.

Posted by: chrislarry | November 23, 2008 4:33 PM | Report abuse

I've lived in this area my whole life. I'm just sick of always getting my hopes up and watching the team lose games that it should win. The last 16 years it's been the same old cr#p. Stupid plays, penalties, dropped balls, miscues, and turnovers that turn games that were winnable into losses. The difficult part is that the team has had the talent to win. In many of the losses over the last 16 years, in many of the games, they were in a position to win, only to blow it. It's the same old cr#p that frustrates me.

Posted by: jiacinto | November 23, 2008 4:34 PM | Report abuse

We went three and out twice and JC got sacked twice or three times on our first two possessions when we played Dallas IN Dallas, so it's still early.

Would like to see some good turnovers today though.

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | November 23, 2008 4:56 PM | Report abuse

this is the last series all over again. Pick up a long third down, drive down the field, stall at around the 30 and try the long field goal

Posted by: Moose33 | November 23, 2008 4:57 PM | Report abuse

Just think if we didn't have Portis! Nevermind, I couldn't stand the pain!

I agree that everybody has the right to whine and cry like little babies, even here in the first quarter.

But is this really the image you want to present?

Because I'll tell you right now, it's no fun to read.

f-in ell we have douglas bader and steven hawking kicking for us today

Posted by: mikeysuperdons | November 23, 2008 5:03 PM | Report abuse

Can we all say "Jason Campbell Suck"??? He isn't a good QB and never will be. Why can't people see that?

Posted by: dailo2008 | November 23, 2008 5:03 PM | Report abuse

First of all, Elizabeth Hasselbeck is not a b!tch or a right wing nut. She is a nice person who just disagrees with liberalism which is pretty much a mental disorder if you ask me.
Second, we should look into signing K Jay Feely after he is replaced by Nike Nugent.
Third, our first 3 draft picks have done nothing so far.
Had we not traded and stayed where we were, we could have drafted:

(34)CB Brandon Flowers
(48)DE Calais Campbell
(51)WR Limas Sweed

Had we done this, we would not have had to trade for Jason Taylor, we would have had additional depth at CB and we would still have a red zone threat at WR.
