Skins Making Another Trade - I Like It

Skins send the 103rd pick to Tennesse for the 124th and 157th picks.

Skins did not previously have a 5th round pick, so now they get one. Guessing they may target a a QB there, now that they have that pick. Gotta think they look DL with the 4th round pick and there's some good ones still on the board.

Strong selection here as Rinehart has great size and potential. The 'Skins are really bolstering their offense this year.

Posted by: [cc] | April 27, 2008 12:04 PM | Report abuse

It's not that they drafted an OL. It's that besides Matt Millen nobody was going to give up a third rounder for the guy. If you have to have him then just trade down.

The trade with the Titans doesn't clearly make enough sense. They should have gotten more in the deal. According to the draft value chart the Skins lost 12 points. They should have gotten to 4's from Tennessee. WTF are they thinking

This draft is not about drafting the best players on the board players we coveted was Thomas Decoud, also Justin King who were previously available. A guard was to be had in latter rounds. Once again great job Vinny Cerrato (oh yeah thats me being sarcastic).

Posted by: Riot905 | April 27, 2008 12:16 PM | Report abuse

I am ok with using a 3rd on this guy. It is a supplemental 3rd round pick so it is kind of like a 4th round pick.

I still don't know about the Davis and Kelly picks.

Any chance they pick offense again with their next pick?

Still DT's Moore and Guion, LB's Henderson and Xavier Abdi, CB Tribbel, SS Barnett.
Lot of talent left.

Posted by: Anonymous | April 27, 2008 12:18 PM | Report abuse

complain they dont draft for the line; complain that they reached on an o-line player; complain that they should trade for more picks; complain that they should have gotten more for the trade. In a perfect world every 4th round trade would get you a 1st round pick

Interesting that you should mention a QB being drafted possibly in the 5th round. Jason Campbell's obviously our guy, and I think we all saw some real potential emerging last year. But then again, you want a back-up that isn't Todd Collins. No disrespect to Todd, but he's old. So, that being said... what if John David Booty falls all the way to 124 or 157 even? Good fit?

Instant draft analysis is folly. It will be possibly several seasons before we will know if this draft was successful. Snyder & Cerrato have remarked that they have changed their focus. Flirting with Chad Johnson did not do much to support that position, but having this many draft picks is a new approach for this team over the past 10+ years. Let's see how the picks pan out during mini-camps and training campe before totally torching the front office - although they do invite the heavy criticism for their past history of knucklehead decisions.

Cowboys | J. Jones wanted to move up in second round for Hardy
Sun, 27 Apr 2008 09:07:47 -0700

Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was seriously trying to get somebody inside the team's draft room on his side to move up in the second round Saturday, April 26, from No. 61 overall. Jones was targeting WR James Hardy, who was picked by the Buffalo Bills at No. 41 overall.

It's draft madness! The yin, the yang; the jibba, the jabba! The Kool-Aid Roulette (two glasses, one has arsenic...). It's what makes the draft fun. No one really knows how 92 percent of these guys will pan out, which is why my corn-fed rule is as good as any.

HEY MIKEY _ HE LIKES IT!

Posted by: Anonymous | April 27, 2008 12:27 PM | Report abuse

next pick should be

Red Bryant
Height: 6-5 | Weight: 328 | Position:DT | College: Texas A&M

Compares To: CASEY HAMPTON-Pittsburgh ... Bryant is bigger, faster and stronger than Hampton, but both play with great anticipation and short-area explosion to dominate vs. the run. Bryant is very good at neutralizing double teams and has few peers when it comers to shutting down the inside running game. He is a tireless worker in the trenches who has not been used much as a pass rusher, but with his speed, lateral agility and strength, he could develop nicely there if a patient coaching staff teaches him proper technique. Whether in a 3-4 as a nose guard or in a 4-3 alignment as a defensive tackle, few blockers at the professional level will have success containing him.

All of you losers who keep saying people need to stop crying must like for our team to be the laughing stock of the league. You must love for us to come up short every year because of poor decisions. Its fantasy league fans like you all that find it ok drafting 3 "reciever types" with our first 3 picks (3 second round picks). Get football 101 and get back to me until then keep playing madden and fantasy league football and shut the h-ell up.

Bucky Brooks of CNNSI.com has liked the Skins draft. Certainly lots of opinions - even Mel Kiper is on board (and what does that mean?)

Posted by: OnTheFence | April 27, 2008 12:29 PM | Report abuse

I admit I was complaining yesterday, but after some thought I can see why they go after the WR's. Moss is injury prone, ARE is getting old, really don't have a solid #3 so I get it. As for today, I like the O-Line pick cause I trust Buges and now we are adressing needs! We should look D-Line with the next pick me thinks!!!!

It aint civility, it's redskins football.

And by the way cerrato and snyder have been shown to be drafting idiots in the past. I HOPE they've changed. I LOVE the receivers individually. But THREE is one too many.

"Kudos to Washington, however, for landing both Thomas (34th) and Kelly (51st) in the second round. The Redskins wanted some big receivers after going for small guys in recent years, and they got two of this draft's better prospects in that department."

Actually getting into the playoffs 2 out of 3 years these days isnt the greatest accomplishment, especially when you get put out by the same team both years. But also look at the bigger pic moron there has been way more inconsistent years than productive. Has nothing to do with common sense its about being a realist. Take a min to stop thinking about what the redskins offense will be rated on madden, pay attention to the game of football, and read "how to stop being a d-ick 101"

+++++The people on RI are never happy with anything the Skins do.

It has a lot to do with the author of the blog and the tone he sets. His vendetta against the Skins is boring and old.

Yet not as boring or old as the Testosterone-free Anonymous cheap shot artists and their Shadenfreude issues.

alex, nfl.com missed the trade... well, they had no problem giving Tenn our pick. They just forgot that we didnt give it to them for free. They still have Tenn picking at 124 and 157. someone at nfl.com isnt doing their job.

I think this could be a possible 7th rounder..local guy

Rudy Hardie
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 270 | Position:DE | College: Howard

Compares To: OSI UMENYIORA-New York Giants ... Yes, Hardie is a raw prospect who still needs to mature physically, but he is a relentless pass rusher. He might lack explosive timed speed, but his balance, body control and sheer determination has helped him reside in the opposition's backfield. Give him a few years under a patient coaching mentor and you could see the second coming of Umenyiora.

If we don't steal Booty, there will be lots of good backup QBs left in Round 7. Maybe Colt Brennan.

God I hope the Skins pick up Demetrius Bell OT (Nortwestern State)....we have the time to develop him to replace Chris Samuel......and with Bugel he would become dominant. He should be available well into the 5th....maybe even 6th or 7th.

I also really like BRYAN MATTISON DE (Iowa) and Zackary Bowman CB (Nebraska)for late round projects.

Apparently Vinny's just not into Booty.

I'm surprised Vinnie and Snyder passed on Rucker/ TE and traded that pick.

They only have 4 now, so am a little concerned about their depth at this make or break a team position.

They need at least 3 more WR's and 2 more TE's to make a run at the SuperBowl.

p.s. I hear they're going to double M.Kelly at LB and DL to help fill those holes, so VInnie's strategy is all making sense to me now...
