Skins Not Expressing Interest in Leroy Hill
Several readers emailed to ask whether the Redskins would be interested in Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill, since Seattle removed the franchise tag and made him an unrestricted free agent recently. Several teams have contacted him in the last day or two, looking to bring him in.
The Redskins have some need at linebacker, and Hill obviously knows a lot of these coaches from their Seahawk ties, but the selection of Brian Orakpo yesterday could address some LB issues, and I would not be surprised if the Skins took a linebacker later in this draft as well. (They like Robert Francois from BC.)
If anything changes on the Hill front, I'll let you guys know.

Riddle me this: why aren't we trading up in the 4th to snag Duke Robinson, Herman Johnson, or Jonathan Luigs?

Maybe with the addition of Barnes, Tryon can become our primary punt returner and server as the 5th corner.

This is one I like, and for all the doubters and OLine wishers, who was available that is better than who we currently have on the roster. We have no real nickel guy.
Barnes is fast, 4.45-40, 3.96 shuttle, he's a little raw but all this "is he physical enough" stuff- look at that film.
That was not his only big one. 6'1" 190.
In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a UMD season ticket holder

I think DC just traded all the rest of this years picks for a long snapper; thus addressing the O line issue once and for all.

Pick 14 in the 5th

At least they are not stubbornly sticking to the notion that Tryon can be a player, I guess. I think any OL selected from this point on is unlikely to be an upgrade to Heyer, considering he is already experienced in the NFL and with the offense.

From the NYT:
"A torn labrum in the shoulder of Andrew Gardner, a 6-foot-7 offensive tackle from Georgia Tech, should no longer be a particular issue. And the meniscus problem in the knee of Cincinnati’s Mike Mickens has not kept him from being a promising defensive back.
But analysis published in the April issue of The American Journal of Sports Medicine indicates that these players and dozens more may be riskier draft picks than most realize. The study, co-written by medical personnel from two N.F.L. teams, found that certain injury histories among players at certain positions — however healed — probably hamper their ability to play in the N.F.L. ...
The doctors asserted that the relationships were strong enough for teams to consider them when making draft picks."

ZORN ON ESPN

Jim Zorn said we weren't ever really close to going after Mark Sanchez. We did talk about it, but he kinda sounded like we talked about a lot of stuff.
Says JC is our QB and he feels fine with him as the QB. Said JC needs to work on getting in a rhythm. His biggest thing to learn this year is "not to fizzle in the second half".

Zorn seems pretty level...GET SOME POINTS, MAN, POINTS!!

btw, anton, let's hope barnes pans out as well as mcintosh as a mid /late 3rd rounder. with his size and speed he's worth the risk on the 3rd that Kelly was not as your high second round pick.

and people before we get too upset with Barnes, Duke Robinson is still available.
If he drops to the 5th, I'd have to think we'd take him...

They need to take Lawrence sidbury and convert this guy to OLB he runs a 4.5 and has impeccable lateral quickness

The fact that we're not looking at Hill is ridiculous. Orakpo is a DE, he cant cover, has stiff hips and is not an OLB period. Therefore we still have no starting caliber SLB on the roster. Not to mention a glaring need at RT and G/C.

Larry Bud - Rocky was a 2nd round pick that we traded up to get. Barnes makes no sense with glaring weaknesses @ olb and OL. Had we not wasted our other picks last yr with Taylor, etc this could be a luxury pick to add depth. The skins are in no postition to be adding depth w/o oline or olb talent on the board.
