Wow. Exactly as I had predicted.
What are the odds of that?

3 primetime games at home this season. Sounds good to me.

Posted by: CPortisRun | April 14, 2009 7:07 PM | Report abuse

first game will be a loss

Posted by: jollybengali | April 14, 2009 7:07 PM | Report abuse

So if Zorn is 1-2 in the team's first 3 games, is he fired?

Posted by: zcezcest1 | April 14, 2009 7:08 PM | Report abuse

We're 5-2 at the bye, finish 8-8. Spund familiar?

Posted by: zcezcest1 | April 14, 2009 7:10 PM | Report abuse

Why are they sending us back to the Giants for our first game?

3 prime time games all at home against division foes. Another tough second half of the schedule.

Posted by: visionof75 | April 14, 2009 7:10 PM | Report abuse

is it my imagination, or is the season starting later this year?

Posted by: zcezcest1 | April 14, 2009 7:12 PM | Report abuse

Sounds familiar, Zcezcest1.

Posted by: CindyBoren | April 14, 2009 7:12 PM | Report abuse

4-3 at the bye, end 9-7 and no playoffs.

Posted by: gre28man72 | April 14, 2009 7:14 PM | Report abuse

Labor day is late next year so the season is starting late.

Posted by: kreitmaster | April 14, 2009 7:14 PM | Report abuse

My early prediction is 9-7.

Posted by: scampbell1975 | April 14, 2009 7:15 PM | Report abuse

Maybe if we use our 1st round pick to help the offensive line, they won't be injured and spent after the 9th game.

And we then we can do better than 8-8, while building for our future, and maps!

when the Skins beat down dallas in the 1972 NFC Championship game (still one the best beatdowns ever) to send them to the Super, it was on New Years eve.

Now the regular season isn't even over until after New Years. Why?

Posted by: zcezcest1 | April 14, 2009 7:15 PM | Report abuse

3 prime time games is not good we stink in prime time games as evidence last year we lost all 3 prime time games not good

Posted by: smooth72510 | April 14, 2009 7:15 PM | Report abuse

Somebody, Please tell me why are we going back to Giants stadium again for the first game??

I think the NFL "hates" the skins...

Posted by: taylormade218 | April 14, 2009 7:16 PM | Report abuse

Would you, the fans, prefer the 'skins play majority of their division games before the bye, or after the bye.

Last year it was like 3 of the first 6, right? This year they'll play FOUR division games after theri bye, two on the road, and will play Dallas twice...

For all the complaining fans did last year as far as the early division games, it doesn't seem that bad now given the 'skins reputation for tanking in the second half of the season.

Posted by: RedDMV | April 14, 2009 7:16 PM | Report abuse

its hard to look at any teams sched, these days, and not come to 8-8! I will always remember winning our last 5 to make the playoffs in '07. As long as you can reach 5-6, you can make a run for it.

I came to 8-8 with themes sched, but I'm going with 10-6 to make the playoffs

We play more games than in 1972, add the bye week, and the fact that the season starts late this year.

Looks like I'll be taking off one Monday and two Tuesdays. At least there aren't any 4pm home games.

Posted by: countystyle | April 14, 2009 7:23 PM | Report abuse

I only see 1 win 6 losses before the break as things stand unless the at least two of the "Kiper trio" steps up, plus Rhinehart. There currently aren't enough draft picks to make a difference. Dan Snyder is going to go get Sanchez which will further cripple the draft.

NO OL. Defense less effective due to diminished talent at LB and DB. Chris Wilson could change this. But can he match MWash? Perhaps. Still the best we could hope for is 3 wins 4 losses at the bye.

Hard to predict what will happen after that.

One year does not a reputation make. Last year we tanked. The year before we won 5 in a row at the end of the year to make the playoffs. We did a similar thing 2 years before that. Most other seasons we sucked all the way through.

Posted by: all_this_bs | April 14, 2009 7:27 PM | Report abuse

I've got us at 9-7 based on the assumption that we will go 3-3 in the division. I think going beyond that requires sweeping one of the NFC East foes. You also have to figure in some ridiculous occurrence like beating TB (someone we probably won't be pick to beat) then losing to Oakland or the Lions.

Posted by: nitrojunkie_20723 | April 14, 2009 7:29 PM | Report abuse

I can't believe they're giving this team 3 prime-time games. What did they show last year to make them a marquee draw? I'd rather see the Texans 3 times (my surprise playoff team for '09) than see the Skins take it in the rear at home 3 times against division opponents.

I see 8-8, folks. Embrace it. Enjoy it. It's what Redskins football is under Dan Snyder.

Posted by: brownwood26 | April 14, 2009 7:31 PM | Report abuse

There are only a few things that can go 'wrong' with a schedule.

1. A lot of short weeks, where the other team has the full week. We have one of those, but are the home team both weeks.

2. Having a bye too early. We're in the middle on that one, no issue there.

3. Lots of Monday & Thursday games so the team is having a lot of odd length prep weeks. No issue there.

The schedule treats us pretty well.

I have no issue with us opening in ny or having a 5 of our last 10 games in the division games.

The only thing that sucks is that its still 5 months until the season starts

You guys are crazy this schedule couldn't be In more of our favor. The giants no plaxico and the defense is upgraded so I will say about 40-60 chance of us beating the giants. Then after that its Tampa, detroit, Kansas city, and the rams we can potentially go 5 and 1. We can beat denver who has no quarter back or a defense, we can beat the eagles who we swept last year and the damn saints who hasn't beaten us in 3 years. And Oakland come on Skins fan we are better then that I will say 10-6 this season easy.

Posted by: Tom_square | April 14, 2009 7:43 PM | Report abuse

While I won't make my prediction until after the draft, I think our record hinges on the play of Campbell and the offense, particularly the receivers. If we can develop an additional offensive weapon, then I think we can have a very good season.

Detroit Lions End 19-Game Losing Streak

Posted by: hisroc | April 14, 2009 7:44 PM | Report abuse

Schedule does look like another 8-8 finish for the Skins.

There are some winnable games (Oakland, KC, Dallas twice, St. Louis, Detroit), but really, you can't tell in the NFL from year to year. Dallas, for instance, may be much better now that they are dumping their Divas & problem players.

Course, you also don't know how long San Diego can hold up under Norv or what Denver will be under a young, 1st year coach.

Posted by: scampbell1975 | April 14, 2009 7:53 PM | Report abuse

Exactly Pabrian is correct we all have to look at these teams who lost key players. Plaxico destroyed us time after time and we did not have an effective pass rush that should change this year. Dallas lost half of their defense and the Eagles lost players on both sides of the ball. This is the redskins year to lose and I had no clue they would have such a simple schedule if anything Xmas came early. Now I believe in campbell and Zorn but if they go 8 and 8 its time for the both of them to go do anybody disagree?

In case anyone has forgotten what happened in that game, the Rams came into it with 1) a sorry defense, and 2) a defensive line that was banged up and starting scrubs.

3) They proceeded to debacle our offensive line.

Any questions?

D. Neither team

Posted by: alex35332 | April 14, 2009 7:57 PM | Report abuse

i could see beating the jints in week 1. They're biggest weapon is running up the middle. Our best player is new and there to stuff up the middle. Their second best option last year was throwing it to plax. plax shot himself in the leg. DOHHHH!!!!

Their defense will still have plenty of talent, including the return of osi, but both teams have defenses that are better than their offenses. Which means it might be a couple of plays that decides it.

ANd who the hell should we draft???

Posted by: Tom_square | April 14, 2009 8:04 PM | Report abuse

A couple of obs about the sched, one neg and one pos.

1. The sched whiffs on tapping into what will be a pre-season hysteria build-up for the 1st AH/AG confrontation. Unfortunately the 1st Skins/Boys game will not be (a) early in the season or (b) on nation TV. By the time they first meat it will all be a distance memory.
2. The sched does however tap into the anticipation that is building up to see what kind of neato 1st play special the Zornster can devise for the start of 2009 against the Jints the way he did in 2008 when the Tuckster broke through the Skins wet paper bag OL, grabbed the Jaseter and threw him to the ground like a ragster doll.

I forgot one other possible sched positive. When the Skins play the Rams in weak 2, if Kendall has resigned with the Skins then there will be a lot pregame build-up of anticipation around who will win round 2 of the OL jerk play of the game derby, him or Richie Incognito. Last season Kendall beat out Incognito by a RCH.

we didn't under estimate the Rams. It was a fluke play.

If Hayney has a good year we can win in the trenches more than in our recent past. This will be the difference especially in the division games.

And it does hinge on J Campbell and the emergence of a new weapon. Tomas and Davis looked pretty good by the END of last seeze.

Well they can't win games in November and they can't win games at night. Looks like another brutal year.

Impossible to predict wins and losses when the status of the team at QB is up in the air.

Anybody remember Norm Snead? Been a fan for a few years and with this management/owner team, the best I see this years overhyped group do is maybe 3 and 13. At least when we had the original over the hill gang, those guys could play. This group is overpaid, under-performing, and I honestly think the team should be blown up and re-started from scratch, primarily with draft picks. It is a total hodgepodge of players from a diverse management concept. The last 10 years of Turner/Schottenheimer/Spurrier/Gibbs/Zorn has produced conflicting philosophical approaches to management and player evaluations/needs. Until a strong General Manager, (ie: Bobby Beathard type) comes into take over, your YES man Cerrato, Boy Snyder and the coach of the moment will founder. Believe it or not, the best move for the team would not be a trade or a draft pick, but the sale of the team to an owner that has a vision to turn the teams management over to a Pro that can do more then say "Yes, Mister Snyder"
