Reposted from previous thread...

Hi all, did you manage to clear up all the cliff-jumpers after the Rams game yet? I feel your pain, the Fins weren't able to close the deal with 'previously unvictorious' Houston either. Ugh.

Posted by: Redcoat | October 14, 2008 3:06 PM | Report abuse

it's worth looking into the seattle times and searching 'alexander.' the city wasn't too impressed with him last season, and wasn't too sad seeing him leave either!

Redcoat was back left a message after the beep

RedCoooaaaT! Long time, bruther. I shouted you out a little earlier - talkn' 'bout Oronde & his singing the praises of the Arena League...

Repost from previous thread to follow:

You are all First in my book - notice that I'm not holding my index finger.... [:-|

And I was complaining about Brooks from day one (same finger hoisted...)

I still don't see anyone eatin' crowpie! step toit!

Pacman: I was trying to figure out WHY he would be fighting his bodyguard in the bathroom. Anyone who frequents sleazy dives as much as I have should get a pretty clear picture here. It's similar to Marion Barry, remove one Crack SJK and a hotel room.

.... I got beeped!

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 14, 2008 3:09 PM | Report abuse

I'm all about the retread, when the tread is familiar.

Worst metaphor scrunchup in years. You get the point. Bring back Chris Zorich!

I can only hope for Leigh Bodden and kerry Colbert coming in...and kelly to IR to cheer me up!

Posted by: dbussjd | October 14, 2008 3:10 PM | Report abuse

RC, you only lost once this weekend, while I lost twice. Good to see you posting.

Posted by: Markin21132 | October 14, 2008 3:11 PM | Report abuse

I've been trying to make myself gainfully employed and then have actually been so, such as, like maps, etc.

Anyway, this is just a drive-by, but I hope to be able to drop in more regularly as things settle down in the new business. Unfortunately when you are billable by the hour, it gets much harder to have any time to goof off!

Posted by: Redcoat | October 14, 2008 3:12 PM | Report abuse

wow great post

Red, we have picked up all the bodies, except Dr. Z's... I think we may just leave that one at the bottom of the canyon as a reminder.

"Redcoat was back left a message after the beep

OMG OMG RLY WOW

Posted by: TheTruth11 | October 14, 2008 3:16 PM | Report abuse

Mark!!! I'm really sorry about that. I felt awful about the fantasy matchup - particularly as my team were so poor - and yet you were still too much of a gentleman to beat them!

Congratulations to the Skins on a great start to the season. I haven't seen much of the games, but what I have seen looks night and day to last year. JC looks like he really gets it, Portis is running like a man possessed, even Double-Move doesn't always bite! I wouldn't worry about the Rams game, it was just a blip, and with most of the others losing it made no difference.

Hey, in this economy - we're pulling for ya, RC.

Hail! & Go Phins!

I'm just saying, Brooks goes to IR or is cut and replaced by another punter, Alexander takes either hamilton's or doughty's spot on the roster, that leaves an open spot and a lot of big known names out on the market....I hope we haven't traded for anybody but could something be brewing?

That's what I'm thinking...

Hola TheCindy! You would think, but I have all these 'contractual deliverables' now, so 'no deliverables, no money'. :)

Thanks for the good thoughts and support I've received from you guys, it's much appreciated. Knock on wood, things are going pretty well.

What's going on with Red and Truth - or shouldn't I ask?

red, don't ask. don't tell. that is the policy we have regarding those two. up here on this blog.

Posted by: dealer1 | October 14, 2008 3:24 PM | Report abuse

don't ask. i'll just say he changed names but you can change the name of a rectum, but if it still looks like and smells like one...

and, welcome back.

Posted by: RedDMV | October 14, 2008 3:25 PM | Report abuse

Cindy, please issue an edict, or whatever it is you editors do, and get Jasno to find out what's going on at safety (if Doughty's indeed going on IR). Thanks.

Posted by: freakzilla | October 14, 2008 3:25 PM | Report abuse

Maybe you could ask Shaun Alexander to punt as well? At this point in his career he might have a "will punt for food" sign hanging around his neck....

Posted by: Redcoat | October 14, 2008 3:25 PM | Report abuse

also red, ditto what 4-12 said.

Posted by: dealer1 | October 14, 2008 3:26 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: chrislarry | October 14, 2008 3:27 PM | Report abuse

And anyway, the Fins had a truly sucky (but cheap) rookie punter last year, who turned into an occasionally sucky (but still cheap)punter this year. Who knows, by next year he might have achieved mediocrity?

So why give up on Brooks so soon?

Posted by: Redcoat | October 14, 2008 3:27 PM | Report abuse

You are a little late there CL

yeah right, dealer1.

the offer still stands--you have my email address, right?

let me know--anytime you feel you wanna get your face peeled back let me know.

rc, brooks is actually injured.

Posted by: dealer1 | October 14, 2008 3:29 PM | Report abuse

I'm gonna wait another three weeks to announce that Pacman has been suspended, so I can be last.

But then, someone could always do it after me.

Damn.

Thanks CL, how's the little one doing?

And JM, what's with that logon? I never had you figured for a Vanilla Ice fan!

Beep Beep. "Ask and you shall receive," he says to himself.

Posted by: freakzilla | October 14, 2008 3:31 PM | Report abuse

I would hope that if roster decisions are going down...then Jim Zorn and Stump Mitchell are heavily involved. As a QB coach and a running backs coach last season...I would think that they have watched an AWFUL LOT of tape of random players for seattle, and that they could really lend an educated "assist" to the front office...

on second thought...what a dump post. how could I think that vinny would do such a thing? Morocco I feel REALLY sorry for you this afternoon...just remember...no need for a warning when you see the rats running down the hallway...just follow them out the door!

Posted by: dbussjd | October 14, 2008 3:32 PM | Report abuse

Man, I thought talking junk over the internet would be a total waste of time, but the responses I got from these guys made it worth the effort. I'll amend my statement from a previous threat with their input added...
RedDMV seems like the kind of guy who..
a) thought wrestling is real
b)thinks he is a male pornstar
c)doesn't have a girlfriend
d)tints the windows on his maxima to 5 time the legal limit (and has a sweeet exhaust system, dude)
The Truth seems like the kind of guy who..
a)takes beer pong really seriously
b)wears jeans that cost more than his electric bill
c)has a favorite cologne
d)goes to bars that have lines to get in
e)doesn't understand that the above are comments are supposed to be denigrating
And with that I will officially retire from internet smack talking. I'll leave with you with a quote from our guy Sean Taylor (RIP)...
"We get paid a king's ransom to play a kid's game.."
Don't your shorts in a twist over this stuff guys. The skins are about to pay Sean Alexander about 5 times what the average DC public school teacher makes. If anything football related is gonna ruffle your feathers that should be it.

Posted by: chevychasepowhatans | October 14, 2008 3:33 PM | Report abuse

we are flipping out over our backup running back and backup safety.

Look at what the Cowboys are dealing with:
Romo, PacMan, Felix Jones, Punter, Terrence Newman, Roy Williams, some receiver....

it's awesome, isn't it?

Posted by: DreamOutLoud | October 14, 2008 3:33 PM | Report abuse

RC, he's injured. There's one reason. I still wanted Frosty, but that looks like a no-go.

I would definitely consider a 1st rounder for Betts, but who's?

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 14, 2008 3:33 PM | Report abuse

jeeeeez sooooorrrrryyyyy

Posted by: chrislarry | October 14, 2008 3:36 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: dealer1 | October 14, 2008 3:40 PM | Report abuse

from playing fantasy football and watching many many RBS including Alexander. let me sum a typical Alexander run. Plod, plod, plod...look for a place to fall down...fall down. The same can be said for the running style of Cedric Benson. Not that that matters just thought I would add that. Ask any Fantasy Football player, SA is a disaster.

Posted by: rickmort | October 14, 2008 3:48 PM | Report abuse

A ONE YEAR DEAL? OH MY GOD!! SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ALLOW THE GM TO HAVE A RADIO SHOW HE IS A BUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMM PERIOD!!! SERIOUSLY IF HE WAS ANY GOOD HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SIGNED THIS OFFSEASON OR AT LEAST OFFERED A CONTRACT.Pardon my caps this just pi$$!$ me off big time.

Posted by: dargregmag | October 14, 2008 4:02 PM | Report abuse

Relax dargregmag. he's a stop gap and only because he knows the offense. No big deal. 2-4 without betts and I bet Rock sees the majority of the touches to spell portis.

Posted by: rickmort | October 14, 2008 4:23 PM | Report abuse

I'd love to see Shaun Alexander reunited with Chris Samuels.

I know a lot of people are down on him, and maybe his best years have gone by. However, the dude was struggling through a lot of injuries and has had time to rest. Plus, he was running behind a depleted and inconsistent line for the last two years.

Posted by: lordtwang | October 14, 2008 4:50 PM | Report abuse

SA was good but now over the hill. no heart to hit a hole hard just falls on his face or worse. Someone from practice squad would be better
