Snow forces Redskins to revise practice schedule

By Jason Reid

Because of the snow, the Redskins are in the process of revising their practice schedule for the second time today.

The poor weather Thursday initially prompted the team to move up its practice time from 12:40 p.m. to 11:45 a.m. Media availability in the locker room, usually scheduled before practice at about 10:45 a.m., was planned for after the team came off the practice field.

The Redskins currently are formulating a new practice plan, which also could change the time for media availability. And based on the worsening weather conditions, the Redskins also may consider moving practice into an off-campus indoor facility.

As Redskins fans are well aware, the team does not have a practice bubble at its complex. Players have been forced to practice in airplane hangars and gymnasiums several times this season.

FIRST order of business this offseason needs to be getting an indoor practice facility. This is ridiculous...

Not trying to be first, just the BEST!

So J Reid, can you ask Danny or someone if they are going to build one in the offseason?

I read something about how Belicheat has the Pats practice outdoors in bad conditions to prepare them for winter-weather games.

But I guess the value of that approach is predicated on your team being in a position to play meaningful winter games.

...which means the Skins might as well build that indoor facility and use it...wouldn't want Genius and Co. to catch the sniffles...

Redskins add linemen to roster and practice squad

....and do you think the draft will be of a similar theme--offensive/defensive lineman added?

Most likely.

...and rather than normal football attire, the players strapped on bright red noses, baggy pants, and oversized floppy shoes.

I really miss Joe Gibbs.

pfunk, I always thought so too...but I think it's important to be able to practice both ways this time of year. You want to get it crisp indoors and then try to take it up a notch in the elements. If you're slippin' and slidin' the whole time, I could see where that would be counterproductive.

We added linemen to the practice squad so that we don't have to draft them.

Now those picks have been freed up to use as trade bait for more 30-year old vets!

Agreed, brownwood.

How many weeks this season has the weather screwed up the practice schedule? At this point I'm ready to say that the lack of an indoor facility has contributed to the team's record. If you play like you practice, and you're unable to practice as normal, that gets you out your rhythm and it shows up on game day.

I'm gonna guess this is the last season without an indoor facility. I can't imagine they cost very much in NFL money. $2-4 million to do it up nicely?

No to Doc Walker - at the beginning of the year dude said on his radio show that he's rather have Santana Moss at WR over Calvin Johnson

Off Season Prediction #2:
Skins find a trading partner and off-load McNabb, then trade for Carson Palmer from the Bengals

Sarcasm? What makes you think that?

Seriously, we can dangle that second round pick to the Browns to get Jake Delhomme now that we've shored up the line with Jeremy Clark.

If Doc said that, I'd like to know the context of the statement.

IMO, Doc provides the most consistently sensible opinions on the Skins in the DMV

C Palmer is a broken toy.

I'll pass.

Thing is, if you're the bengals, maybe you dangle Palmer in the face of the cardinals who may see him as an instant fix for their q-back situation.

Palmer throwing the Fitzgerald?: if I'm AZ, I might make that trade.

I seem to remember hearing something about a practice bubble when Joe 2.0 came back.

Does anyone remember this?

I know we all love to hate Snyder but surely he is not balking at building one due to finances.

I could be way off but I thought that there was some other factor involved with why one had not been built, but at the same time I remember hearing it was supposed to be a priority years ago.

Anyone else remember this?
