Sources: Jeremy Jarmon makes the cut

Defensive lineman Jeremy Jarmon has made the final 53-man roster, according to team sources.

Jarmon was a third-round draft pick in the 2009 supplemental draft and though he appeared to struggle some in his transition to the 3-4 defense, the former Kentucky standout is known for his strong work ethic.

After returning from a torn ACL suffered in Week 12 last season, Jarmon initially dropped weight to transition to linebacker this offseason but did not immediately fare well in the new position. He was then asked to put on more weight to play defensive end, where he will be positioned in the new scheme. Jarmon is up to 295 pounds, 20 pounds more than he weighed last season.

Down to the nitty gritty. Figure Wade is gone, Bartel or Beck, a DL, a LB, and that's gotta be getting close to 53.

YES! Good move.

I like JJ, and was hoping he would make the cut. There was a thought that his future would outweigh his lack of performance while he has been recovering from injury.

Remember that KurtShanaman dude from Hawaii that dissapeared from the blog as soon as Colt got cut here? How much do you want to bet he became a Raiders fan as soon as Colt got signed there? I wonder if he's throwing himself into the volcano right about now.

VINIDICATION? Does that have something to do with VINIE?

Hail to the conquering hero. You were right and I was wrong. That's a feeling I'm used to, but you're probably not.

Good call. I never would have thought Shanahan would throw the dice with such poor odds.

Wow, the cult of Colt dopes must be ripping their hair out. I thought he was going to go to Oakland and flourish, lol.

Instead, people with real football knowledge were right again, he's a great guy with no future in the NFL. The UFL could call......

Conditional 7th rounder.

Twitter saying that Darrell Young making the team could spell the end for Mike Sellers. Hmmm

A ham sandwich. Actually, a conditional ham sandwich. Most likely a sixth or a seventh.

So we got a good year out of him last year and, possibly an extra late pick next year. So much for those guys who were saying that he was a complete bust as a 4th round pick. I'd say partial bust is more accurate.

Yea, and for banks who makes every punt look like a greased pig(skin) competition. Austin made plays and got better with more reps; banks wasn't drafted and ain't likely to be picked up by the 31 teams who didn't draft him for his fumbling abilities. I mean what the f'ck? But then again, what the hell do I know.

Awful cynical given how this team has been run for the last forever aren't you? I'll take it compared to what we've had.

Posted by: scampbell1975 | September 4, 2010 4:34 PM | Report abuse

Since A. Bryant made the team, H. Green will be cut.

Since Jarmon made the team, I'm thinking that Holliday will be cut.

Yea, Ill take it too. Sometimes making the players your prison b'tch is good management. Tryon was worth a carton of cigs.

I agree. I'm impressed that they were able to get anything for a guy they were about to release. Must have been a couple of teams who wanted him and Indy thought they couldn't claim him on waivers.

your magnanimity knows no bounds...and the first thing you will agree with is - we should keep/have kept Austin. Are we sure he's been cut?

Posted by: Notorious_LMG | September 4, 2010 4:44 PM | Report abuse

Sellers was awful last year, no doubt Darrell Young could fill his shoes pretty easily.

2 te's & 2 fb's... sellers can play te also... seller and young are extremely good special teamers...

I gotta say "I told you so" to WaPo.

I've been saying for weeks that Jarmon was going to make this team.

Playing time and practice reps just had him toward the bottom rung because they had to bring him back from a shredded knee slowly. And it is not Shanny's style to risk letting that be known and watching a player not push all-out to get back on the field and make the team.

@jimmy_the_crickett

I totally agree with your response to this rumor. Most teams need to have a combination of FBs and TEs that is at least 4 because otherwise you are one injury away from not being able to lineup in a Goalline Formation. Not to mention all the two-TE sets the Skins will have in their game plans this year.
