Turkey Week in TCCLs

It's the Gobble Gobble Edition of TCCLs. Enjoy! (And then take a little nap; thanks, triptophan.)

1992 TCCLs - Loyola Dons football.
They are the mythical Maryland state champs for 2008. Destroyed the MIAA, played probably the toughest schedule in the region and went 11-0, outscoring teams by, like, 400 points even after their star QB suffered a season-ending injury. They finished the season with a 35-0 thumping of Calvert Hall in the Turkey Bowl (oldest annual Catholic high school football rivalry in the country, 89th edition). Go ahead and crown 'em. Well done. Roll, Dons, roll.

158 TCCLs - Lorenzo Alexander
Dude is the unsung hero again this season. He probably gets better penetration than any defensive tackle on the roster, he's a star on special teams, he's the tackle eligible. He had a superior game in Seattle, and without him keeping Matt Hasselbeck from stepping up in the pocket a few times the Redskins might not have won that game. Randy Thomas was openly campaigning for me to write a Lorenzo feature the other day. When starters on one side of the ball are clamoring for more pub for a reserve on the other side of the ball, that's pretty special.

35 TCCLs - Sauerkraut
No Thanksgiving is complete without it. Especially if it's done Polish style, with a little kielbasa thrown in. It's never mentioned with the trinity of turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing, but it's required late November dining in my mind.

20 TCCLs - The Blitz
It was back, at least for last Sunday. I think the Skins need to maintain a more aggressive approach, at least on third down, given the limitations of this offense.

3 TCCLs - NFL Network
Sorry if you don't get it, but three Thanksgiving Day games is mandatory. How did we get by with just two before? Downright un-American. I'm all for this new holiday tradition.

Let's hope for more competitive games in the future. Sauerkraut on Turkey day? I dunno about that.

Have to disagree with you here. Jacobs has 50 lbs and 2 inches on Landry.

Yes, he took the wrong angle, yes he tried to take Jacobs on after BJ had a full steam. However, I guess my point is more along the lines that I wouldn't be leading off my blog by saying Laron is big enough to take on Jacobs. He isn't big enough...he has to be smart enough.

That's foolishness. By that logic Fred Smoot should never be able to make a tackle since RBs are typically over 200 lbs. If you take the right angle and go at the legs you'll make the tackle. Landry went high and that's why he got trucked, not because Jacobs weighs 50 more pounds.

Don't mean to be on the dudes back, but surelt Swish deserves a negative TCCL.

What year was the last time the Skins actually beat the Gints at FedEX? It seems that unlike last year, the Gints have had their closer games away from the Meadowlands (Cinncinati, Cleveland, Pittsburg)

I am of German heritage and we don't do the kraut thing....never have. We do the Midwestern miraculous/mysterious/imaginative/inedible frozen salads with Jello-O, some sort of fruit, cream, cream cheese, nuts and often, cottage cheese.
I like Tom Coughlin Cuddle Lessons better than Tom Cruise Couch Leaps.
