The Week in TCCLs

BTW, it's TGIF for TCCLs...

172 TCCLs - London Fletcher.
This dude ain't going down without a fight, and I know it's got nothing to do with his consecutive games streak. No one wants to win more badly, and with his career nearing the end, Fletcher knows there may not always be a playoff light at the end of the tunnel. I'd be stunned if he doesn't gut it out again. On Sunday night, try to keep your eyes on the middle of the field, with two middle linebackers out there who just keeping making plays and defying time. Ray Lewis and London Fletcher are two of the very best.

-13 TCCLs - Execution.
For 13 or so weeks now, we've been hearing how sound the scheme is, but without some new wrinkles and unpredictability soon, the meaningful part of this season is gonna expire. Z-Man says he is going to simplify some things, and the flashes of some gadgets from last week (reverse, option pass) might need a renewed emphasis in light of the offensive woes, and the caliber of defense they are facing Sunday night. More passes to Mike Sellers, more rollouts, maybe even Randle El in the Wildcat?

-350 TCCLs - Jason Campbell bashing/ Deification of the backup quarterback.
Progress takes time. The offense is not just about the quarterback. Poor personnel decisions, a sometimes-predictable scheme, mistakes by teammates all play a role. Pain today leads to gain tomorrow, and this kid hasn't even been bad or costing them games. This isn't an instantly-disposable QB situation, though after going through Jeff George and Tony Banks and Shane Matthews, etc. I can see why people might be conditioned to think that way.

-980 TCCLs - Air Vinny.
The Redskins are fourth worst in the NFL in scoring with the league's worst red-zone offense and "Inside The Red Zone With Vinny Cerrato" devolved quickly into open season on the team's executive vice-president for football operations Monday as callers pummeled him. He told Mike Wise back in training camp that his mother was informed not to read Redskins Insider; well, Monday's barrage made anything I've written look strictly G-rated. (They might want to consider a new name for the show...)

10 TCCLs for Jasno.

Even more for Cindy.

4 TCCL's for a playoff push even remotely existing...

I think Jasno was going to give something like -43 TCCLs to Suisham, but I guess they missed wide right

a VP having his own radio show is possibly the worst idea ever...unless you're actually a good VP and your team makes the playoffs consistently. He deserves all the abuse he gets, he's asking for it.

Posted by: Moose33 | December 5, 2008 5:00 PM | Report abuse

lol@ jasno. you go boy! we got your back...that is until the team starts winning and you keep bashing vinny for obscure stuff...

Posted by: dealer1 | December 5, 2008 5:02 PM | Report abuse

I have to be fair though, the Hall signing was good...

Posted by: Moose33 | December 5, 2008 5:02 PM | Report abuse

If JZ simplifies any more, we will be 'blowed' out.....

Posted by: 4thFloor | December 5, 2008 5:02 PM | Report abuse

So, we are not allowed to bash JC17, but are allowed to swing away at Vinny?

That makes sense........

Posted by: 4thFloor | December 5, 2008 5:04 PM | Report abuse

Oh yeah, F Norv for waiting until now to figure out that Darren Sproles is magic with the football. Guy had to sit on my FF bench all year because Norv wouldn't get him touches ... so Norv waits until he's 4-8 before thinking, maybe I oughta let this guy have the ball. 1st time all year Sproles hit double digits in touches. Result? 2TDs.

Norv = Putz.

I'm not mentally ready to embrace Hall as a (or even the) top corner until he is under contract ... right now he's a rental ... playing like its a contract year (which it is) and taking risks that could blow up in his face ... but still, I'm as pleased with the Skins FINALLY getting some picks as anyone up here.

Posted by: dcsween | December 5, 2008 5:06 PM | Report abuse

What does TCCL's even stand for...I feel like a moron for asking this question...

Vinny = evil

That's why.

Posted by: freakzilla | December 5, 2008 5:10 PM | Report abuse

Sween - The issue in the coming year will be Hall will get a bigger contract then Rogers. JLaC will be on Rogers side as to how the skins stiffed him and Hall is on his 3rd chance.

But Rogers will only have himself to blame. Though I think Halls contract will be based more of an incentive based type contract, but at the end of the day, Hall will get paid more..........

Enough with the calves. It's like the Hammies of 2zizzle7, only more compartmentalized.

And I keep hearing that Jeff George is still in fantastic shape and has his phone with him at all times. I wonder who would win in a foot race today: George or Collins?

Posted by: MNSkinsFan | December 5, 2008 5:14 PM | Report abuse

I would go so far as to say good and evil, but future and past might be accurate.

For those keeping track at home, I'm pro-Zorn, pro-Campbell, pro-Portis, pro-Springs, and pro-Evans ... also, anti-Jansen ... and anti-septic, anti-bellum, anti-matter, anti-retroviral, anti-regularviral, anti-perspirant, anti-freeze and pro-V (with paba extracts).

Crappy week at work, half a bottle of wine, large scotch and a madeira down, and it's as clear as ever to me. Though tbf, it's been clear for a while. Both lines weak, one or two WRs short, new scheme and coach. Good QB can't overcome that. Couple of years should do it thru draft and FA, tho by that time CP will be racing Stephen Hawking...

Posted by: mikeysuperdons | December 5, 2008 5:18 PM | Report abuse

But I thought Gibbs 2.0 and Gregggg Williams was doing the picking of the players the past 4 years?

And before that, Spurrier for 2 years...

And before that, Marty Ball for 1 year...

And before that, The Danny for 1 year....

So, inconclusion, Isn't this Vinny's 1st REAL year with total control of player personnel? I'm just trying to be fair and balanced.....

-24 TCCLs for Shawn Springs. I remember last week when I saw a guy wearing a Redskins uni with the number 24 on it. Immediately, I wondered, who the hell is that? Then I realized....Springs is playing!

Maybe that's why our secondary couldn't tackle last week. They didn't know who that guy on the field with them was....

4th, if Hall earns all the incentives and escalators, that means massive success for the Skins, so under those circumstances, I hope he does get paid more at the end of the day. I definitely do not want to lose Rogers to free agency. It would be great if they could re-sign both guys.

4th, its very hard to apportion the roles that Gibbs played vs Vinny in player selections. With Gibbs spending a lot of time as coach, I'm sure he had to rely heavily on his personnel guy. My guess, and its only that, is that Gibbs probably had a sizable role in free agency and that Vinny was the point person on college.

4th and balanced, rewind all of that and the remember the common denominator, the guy who signs the paychecks ... and remember which racquetball partner has his ear and has been the constant that whole time. The only difference is that THIS year there are no other names to hide behind. [Still, so far, the only move he's made that I question is releasing Torrence before Tryon ... I'm convinced Tryon would remained untouched on the practice squad all season ... unlike the quality undrafted CB, Richardson, who got snapped up and now has a roster spot.]

We can't possibly believe that Gibbs would've had this kind of draft. 3 pass catchers in the 2nd round? Vinny deserves the rep he has. What's even worst is his attitude towards keeping all of the picks. If Dewayne Walker didn't beg him to take Horton, this would have gone down as the worst draft ever. The draft of Tryon and Brooks alone should get him fired!

Posted by: dcwun | December 5, 2008 5:58 PM | Report abuse

Mac is just v different to a PC. I love how it looks tho. I love how Kelly Brook looks. Bet she doesn't have a right click either. Do you think the Skins should release a kiddies' Christmas book called 'Where's Freddie?'. Would have to make sure no pages had someone asleep in bed tho, too easy. Never knew that's what they meant by a sleeper in the draft...

Posted by: mikeysuperdons | December 5, 2008 5:59 PM | Report abuse

I'll defend Vinny for taking Kelly and Thomas. He properly understood the problem and invested two guys he felt could be a solution.

I'll rarely criticize the specific guys if they don't pan out. I do look at the approach. For me, its simple. What are the holes this team will need to fill in two years? Draft to that. If you want to fill something immediately, use free agency. Or live with that weak spot on the roster.

Taking Fred Davis made zero sense. He didn't fill a need. With Brooks, too many punters are chasing too few jobs and so it was a wasted pick. Brennan is a #3 QB for the next 3 years and there are plenty of #3 QBs. All 3 of those picks should have gone to need positions, especially OL.

On the other hand in an one-and-done playoffs like we have anything could happen. Al Zeke, who was the dog by something like 25 points, has already closed half the distance with only one player playing.

One Nate idea: since we don't have anything (FF wise at least) to do in weeks 16/17, can Nate organize a sort of virtual ACC vs. Big10 type tournament between the two leagues? It would require some legwork but could answer for all which was truly the JV league. I'll volunteer to help if needed.

Posted by: dcsween | December 5, 2008 9:16 PM

A brief Google search reveals that Ed Reed has something called a "nerve impingement" in his neck and shoulder. The surgery required to fix it would be career-ending, so it's not on his agenda right now. This info was dated 8/30, so it's not a recent development.

His injury affecting his status for Sunday is a hamstring, which has him listed as questionable, though he's expected to start.

Posted by: freakzilla | December 6, 2008 3:22 AM | Report abuse

freakz, thx ... your brief googling far excels over my intensive interwebtubemapping. I assume the surgery is season ending rather than career ending, but still, seems like the guy remains a liability for the Skins regardless. Maybe he'll get enough nagging on the home front today to tighten up his neck just enough to make it a game time "no" decision ... hammy or no hammy.

I have a new theory re: the increase in venom up here as the season has progress, e.g., venom directed toward the likes of Jasno, Vinny, Springs, Torrence, Campbell, Portis, each other, etc.

Unlike the offseason, when there is no onfield football going on, there is plenty of opportunity for speculation. During the season, none of that is going on. Nothing much changes from week to week. Someone gets injured. Someone screws up a play. Someone plays well. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

In-season blogging is venomous because its the way peeps get less bored about the monotony of not much changing. This blog is not meant for in-season blogging ... in season, what there is are football games. End of story. [Even midweek injury reports inspired nothing but p!ssing and moaning.] Good, old fashioned RI bloggery is best practiced as an off-season, ultimatumy endeavor.

I salute those bloggers who remain committed to the non-hurtful comedic quip tangentially related to football, esp. the Skins.

In a far fetched simile I am starting to wonder if Zorn's close connection to his quarterback was like McClellan's connection to his army in the Civil War. McClellan was afraid of using his army as a effective fighting force because he loved his creation to much. Because Zorn is also a quarterback coach as well as the playcaller one wonders how much he is willing to risk using Campbell. Zorn has invested a good deal of his time and psyche into Campbell, in effect trying to create a Spock mind meld. (I am sure the radio receiver in Campbell's helmet becomes like some inner voice at some point.) In the Civil War Robert E Lee was never afraid of using his army in a bloody way because his only goal was victory. He risked more and gambled with the fate of his entire command on many occasions, but he bested his more timid adversaries. Zorn has to learn to risk his quarterback more in order to better his own odds of winning. Chanllenging JC to do more than he can feel comfortable doing may be completely necessary in order have a playoff chance.

Posted by: driley | December 6, 2008 7:52 AM | Report abuse

Historical comparisons are mad cool driley, but don't forget R.E. Lee lost and McClellen was fired......Hopefully Zorn avoids both these generals fates...

Posted by: chrislarry | December 6, 2008 7:58 AM | Report abuse

Actually to tease out driley's analogy further, F all others...if i could pick a CW general I wish Zorn Star would most resemble it would he of that scortched earth ass kicker T-Sherman! That dude left it all on the field....

Posted by: chrislarry | December 6, 2008 8:00 AM | Report abuse

My analogy was was about someone gambling with their own creation. To further the analogy Grant used his army up knowing that he had more resources, so Zorn has used up Portis but has yet to spend Betts in a similar way. Zorn has more of a detachment with Portis thus he can more easily call on him to sacrafice himself for the goal of winning a game. The next hurdle for Zorn would be to realize that Portis has given his "last full measure" and to let Betts take his turn in the front line.

Chrislarry,

Sherman would be the general who got the "execution" from his Army. His march to the sea was a well orchestrated plan of attack with each part of his army carrying on the offense. In football terms, his results would have been an offense that scored 35 points on 7 sustained drives, averaging 10 yards per play with a qb rating of 125!

I have a new theory re: the increase in venom up here as the season has progress, e.g., venom directed toward the likes of Jasno, Vinny, Springs, Torrence, Campbell, Portis, each other, etc.

I guess I still think it's driven by the 'Skins record: the closer we are to 16-0, the better the mood of the blog and the tighter the focus on next week's game. The closer to 0-16, the worse the mood and the focus shifts to blame, who to cut, who to draft. To me, the blog started angry and hostile this year, mellowed increasingly to a "good fellowship" peak when we were 6-2, and has turned down since.

I also have the sense that there was a "Golden Age" of the blog, sometime before I arrived. It was a smaller, cohesive, and more tolerant group with bloggers like Megskin, Big Fish. Jasno used to read the posts then and, occassionally, comment/debate. At Nate's Shabingus last spring he said he'd quit reading because of all the anger.

On the other hand, since I wasn't reading or posting, I don't know whether this was a true Golden Age or just "the good old days." Sort of like trying to compare the music I grew up with (which I can only hear now on XM 6, "The Sixties") with the music my kids are growing up with.

Thanks to all who participated in my little sociology experiment regarding grief transference. I had become intrigued over the past several months at how 'Skins fans who had never met Mr. Taylor were still deeply stricken months after the tragedy. I had discussed this with my class and we had rightly come to the conclusion that people want so desparately to matter in some way, to be relevant, that they will actually transfer grief or turmoil surrounding national figures or celebrities on to themselves in order to insert themselves into the drama. And by sharing this on a blog, more and more people were being drawn into this web of unreality. When I first tried to talk about this on the blog, I was met with both resistance and denial. When I decided to apply my mock grief attitude in my posts, more people began to realize just what had transpired over the past months. The poem posted last week about Mr. Taylor seemed to be a major tipping point that began to awaken people to the fact that this was becoming very unhealthy and morally questionable to be inserting themselves in a stranger's family grief. You have all been a subject of great discussions in my class and I wish you all well. I also hope you try to maintain a healthy mental balance on life's adversities. God Bless....

Also, before my father converted to a Muslim, his last name was Washington.

U.S. Grant was a drunk, but he did get the presidency (which was horrible ... he was still a drunk).

The good old days involved quite a bit of b!tching about personnel (e.g., Holdman, Jimoh), as well as the FO, plus an odd and angry fascination with Grilliams. Still, those were the community development days ... before the first battle of the blogs. Truthfully, I think Jasno has changed not very much since then, except for the part about not posting below the line (I'm thinking mostly due to the exponential increase in posting, plus one, then two kids, and covering a rainy crappy Super Bowl involving a cockatoo with a bad attitude).

Still, can't we all just get along? In recent weeks, my salute is up for posters still trying hard to work the gag line, e.g., etrod, daggar, others who I'm forgetting. Short, zingy, competitive comedic posts.

Now LET'S GO GIT THEM RAVENS! (in the voice of Nicolas Cage's character prior to re-resolving to recover Nathan Jr./Hi Jr./Ed Jr.)

Now, I am glad I didn't involve myself in these certain discusions you speak of, because that's f'd up. You don't know what other people are going through in their lives.

Others may have been involved in a personal tragedy around the same time as the Taylor tragedy and could view this as a paralell if you are a lifelong Redskin fan.

So, if the (hypothetically) President had been shot and killed, I should have no emotion because I didn't know him? That's some stupid SJK.....

This makes no sense. What school do you teach at? What class is this? I hope your students didn't have to agree with you to earn the A they deserved by proving you wrong......

rachel, I think Skins can win this game. Ravens have not faced a team like this before. They've only played good teams and bad teams ... no medium teams. Skins have a secondary like the best of the good teams they've faced. Skins D will keep the Ravens' score low. Unfortunately, Skins O may do the same for the Skins' score. Ravens 6, Skins 9 (OT).

I can 'insert' myself into grief for ST and his fam because I have a heart and look at things like a human. I think of not seeing my son ever again, or my wife.

So yeah, i can see their pain and read into how it feels and have a feeling of what that must be like.

I never ran up to the taylors or garcias speaking as if I knew how they felt... that would be disturbing. But I can damn sure remember what it was like to lose my g-mom and my uncle, and yes, I had heartfelt sympathy for those affected.

You are the reason people need to be reminded that there are things to lose in life, because you go around acting as if nothing would ever affect you. Sure hope that doesnt come to bite you in the @ss.

Speaking from some oldschool-type experience. The halcyon days of any {bbs/chat room/blog/whatever you want to call it} are when it's a narrow, tight community.
When you can have 'notguy' nail almost every commenter within a 15-minute span and make it funny, you have a tight group.
And Jasno and his keyboard: my favorite all-time must be: "It's hard to talk to Joe Bugel and not get a little worked up. The guy has a vest for life and a love of football that is palpable.". God, what I wouldn't do for a little vest for life.
So what changed? like all things that are successful, it got bigger. Some of the personalities conflict, and when you add the occasional pure troll and impersonator, the level of discourse achieves lowest-common-denominator status very quickly.
Add to that a small - but very very passionate - contingent that truly believes that they will get Vinny fired if they just blog hard enough, and here we are.

t_e_, don't kid yourself ... Cindy has a dry erase board next to her desk with one column labeled "me" and another "everyone else on RI". When the going gets tight, she uses her powers to remove hyperzingers to re-level the score ("Emilio, honest to goodness, it was reported as abuse."). Also, t_e_, weren't you a long timer under the handle "kk" (or talkshowhost?) before you started evaluating talent?

Also, I think The Truth had been here for a long time under a different handle.

Back to this Baltimore thing, I had forgotten about how they beat Miami and Philly. I consider those two teams to be medium teams ... maybe their FG kickers were off those days? Also, is Ravens' stadium (UU Net Stadium? PSI Net stadium? some bank Stadium? Hon's Hive Stadium?) regular live turf or is it fake turf?

The other thing about the respective secondaries ... Ravens' starters are out (D. Landry) or more hurt (Reed, Rolle) than the Skins secondary is ... seems like just a matter of getting behind the linebackers ... and remaining upright long enough to get it there ... by which I mean I don't see opportunities for Skins to get the deep ball ... except on a flea flicker or reverse-pass or something like that.

I didn't feel strongly either way about Fassel ... initially, I figured there was insufficient ego capacity for the Skins to carry The Owner, Vinny AND Grilliams, so I figured Grilliams would be gone by the time he got the call back interview and I wanted that Schwartz guy from Tennessee (sheesh, did the Titans' defense turn out to be miserable this season) ... then I thought I might like Mariucci (his head coaching gigs have only ever been to rehab dismal teams ... and he would have wanted Zorn as his OC anyway) ... but now that Fassel is actually grovelling to work for Al Davis, all I can say is "GOOD WORK, BLOGGERS!"

As this was 1st attempt at joining an online community of any kind, I felt bad because I wanted to talk Redskins and this as the place to be to do that(during down time at work).

Hey, no fubball talk, we're reminiscing here!

Eli made a couple of decent throws against a pretty good pass defense last week. Why not hope for the same from Soup?
Looking back at Soup's interceptions, they were all reasonably deep in enemy territory, which lessened their downside. And only one of his four was really a poor decision (Newman's). [I concede that he's made other poor decisions that did not end up as Ints.]

Young white people in Portland really enjoy their Pabst Blue Ribbon. On tap, king cans, whatever... but the stuff is plain nasty, in my opinion.

Heineken is for people who don't realize there are now 800 other foreign beers imported to the US of A, most of them much, much better.

But Heinie was first in that niche, which is the only way to account for its enduring popularity. Well, that and its incredibly bland flavour, which reminds people of their favourite AMerican macrobrews, wrapped in a fancy foreign label...

[Too opaque ... he's playing with the player's Vinny has assembled ... and its a new gig, he brought in coaches who were old pals, and he's still feeling his way around in the dark.] No way I pull the plug on Zorn, not this year, not next. Same with Jason Campbell. The crap and the credit rise and fall with Vinny as far as I'm concerned. Still, I'm still saying this season is creditworthy ... servings of crap will be served depending on these next four games.

rachel, I think Skins can win this game.

Posted by: dcsween | December 6, 2008 10:18 AM | Report abuse

I agree, dc. It will come down to some quirky play, a t/o taken to the house, something like that. Could go either way. However, Ravens have shown more of a propensity to make these plays than the Skins have. Hopefully, we can change that.

Posted by: 4thFloor | December 6, 2008 12:21 PM | Report abuse

frediefritz, we can always count on "luck" (I mean the good version), esp. in officiating.

There was a play against the Saints (maybe the Cards) where Skins were something like 2nd and 22 on about their own 30. Seemed like the play called was 5 guys wide, everyone run to the first down line and turn around. Completion to Cooley (gaining another 3-4 after the catch). They need more of that ... JC in the huddle saying "Screw the play called, everyone go out and get open". Just complete the play.

4th, OK ... maybe if its anti-JZ for the WEEK. I have lots of guys on my short term anti-list. Jansen, however, has made it to my long term anti-list ... for two critical yardage losses on Portis up the middle ... backside tackles by guys Jansen either released or whiffed on completely.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS go for the best talent available in the draft. You fill "holes" with free agency. Why? Look at the Ravens with that nose tackle? Sean Taylor, LaRon Landry ... going for the best talent/athlete available and that is often going to mean defensive backs ... like, well, Darrel Green. Not wide receivers. Not defensive lineman. Often its Linebackers or hybrid lineman / linebackers like LaVar, yes. The best recent drafts featured guys like Champ Bailey and LaVar Arrington. DeMarcus Ware. Suggs, etc. Then running backs. These are guys who can usually athletes that can play many skill positions because of speed and athleticism.

Back in the day they used to draft running wishbone-T QBs as safeties because they knew they were great athletes. Just did not have the arm.

Vinnie traded down and filled in holes and did an extremely poor job. Yeah Horton was drafted below the other safety they drafted. So whoever is responsible for him ought to replace Vinnie. Williams and Gibbs were much better at drafting than Vinnie. He ought to just be in PR and have a radio show.

___________________________________________________________
-----------------------------------------------

I'll rarely criticize the specific guys if they don't pan out. I do look at the approach. For me, its simple. What are the holes this team will need to fill in two years? Draft to that. If you want to fill something immediately, use free agency. Or live with that weak spot on the roster.

Okay, I just got around to reading this post from Jasno, so sorry if I'm repeating what anyone else has said.

In general I think Jasno does a decent job with this blog, providing useful info and commentary that is often insightful, although certainly at times way off base. So I'm neither a Jasno sycophant nor a Jasno basher.

That said, I'm really getting annoyed at the stupidly simplistic way he's been dealing with the subject of Jason Campbell's performance, and the condescending tone he takes with anyone who doesn't agree with Jasno.

The biggest thing, is that Jasno is cutting down straw men with his arguments. Typical is the view that criticism of JC amounts to "Jason Campbell bashing/ Deification of the backup quarterback".

Is it possible to be critical of Campbell's performance and skeptical of whether he is the ultimate solution for the franchise at QB without being a "Campbell basher?" Also, can one be crtical and skeptical of JC without "deifying the backup"? I certainly don't think Collins is the answer. And there's too little information to be able to evaluate Colt Brennan at this point either. Certainly Campbell is the only choice for starter for the rest of this season.

The point that I and others have been trying to make is that we're not convinced that JC is the long-term solution. That doesn't mean that Collins (definitely not) or Colt (no way to know) are the answer. It also doesn't mean that we aren't taking into account the old, banged-up line, and the lack of options at receiver. However, even given all that, there have been many games where Campbell has shown a lack of basic football awareness and pocket presence, that intangible quality that separates outstanding QBs from average ones.

Again, I'm not saying that I'm 100% sure that Campbell will never turn out to be an outstanding, even elite QB. However, if I had to lay money on it from what I've seen up till now, I would bet against it. That still doesn't provide the answer for what to do at the QB position long term, but I think it's a fair opinion to have at this point.

So instead of this black-and-white, either JC's the bomb or you're a basher and a hater (I mean, haven't we had enough of that Manichean-type mentality the last eight years????!!!), I would like to see some more intelligent, sophisticated analysis that is able to deal with complexity and uncertainty rather than trying to make everything seem simple and black and white.

There are a few defenders on Navy that would look good in a Skins uniform, but the service academy guys have pre-existing job commitments. I understand college football, even for guys who have no prayer of getting drafted or picked up as free agents (mostly the scholarship part of that deal), but its not quite the same for Army or Navy college football b/c those guys already don't have to pay for the education ... plus they are one of two of the best candidates for the respective academy in their home states. I don't understand the motivation of why those guys would want to play football. For those not watching at home, Navy is crushed (maybe crushed by now) Army.

sween, i think you're being sarcastic but just in case you aren't. first of all cabbies who drop people off in NW mansions aren't dc cabbies. deffinitely you won't see many cabs go into mansions rather "cars".

drop offs in NW mansions are mostly airport cabbies either dulles flyer or national or bwi cabbies. most of the NW business is well either 9-5 K street type or hotels (again read tourists and business folks) or at night clubbers...so not much NW mansion fairs there...plus the high rollers even most K st. lawyers like to roll in the "cars" not cabs.

at the end of the day NW has it's perks but just not my cup of tea.

Sween--Plebe class at Naval Academy is 1200, so that's an average of 25 from each state. But the guys play football because they love the game. And it no doubt gets them out of some other stuff that isn't as much fun as football. I'd also guess that if you're good at it, you get your career off to a faster start than guys on the chess or fencing teams. I believe that there is a requirement that all midshipmen and cadets participate in some sort of organized athletic activity even if it's only at the intramural level. However, I am sure that those who play football do so for the love of the game.

Navy also participates in Sprint Football (http://navysports.cstv.com/sports/m-sprintfb/navy-m-sprintfb-body.html) with several other universities. It used to be known as 150 pound football at my alma mater, which still participates in Sprint Football.

Fortunately for Marion Barber, his pinkie toe didn’t have to be reattached after being severed by a street sweeper and then transported in a Cracker Jack box by a hipster doofis who fended off a busjacking while still making all scheduled stops.

But, that said, the appendage is sufficiently injured to keep Barber from playing at Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Characterized in media reports as a game-time decision, the decision has been made; the Cowboys went to Pennsylvania without him.

Tashard Choice is expected to start in Barber’s place. And after watching this clip, we’re confident you’ll feel the same way about Tashard Choice as we now do.
