Does it really matter?

Posted by: michael_b_clegg | October 18, 2009 4:12 PM | Report abuse

I can understand why Zorn pulled JC. He was desperate and looking for something, anything, to spark the offense. And, it did work to some extent, as they did managed to get six points. But Todd Collins is not the answer, and ultimately it's going to make no difference. I don't think having Todd play will win the Redskins more games. I think the Redskins have reached desperation and are going to try anything.

Problem is, the first thing the Redskins need to do to be competitive again is to put together a good offensive line. Firing Zorn, hiring Gruden, firing Vinny...none of it will make the Redskins instant competitors. That won't happen until they have an o-line. Some of the things I mentioned might help, but they won't be the cure.

We can start Antwaan Randle El.

In all seriousness, like michael_b_clegg said, it's not gonna matter cuz we won't win no matter who's the QB.

FIRE ZORN AND DANNY SMITH!!!!!!!!

1. ARE should not be the returner
2. Muff last week's game
3. Blocked punt today
4. Blocked extra point earlier in the year

Why worry about getting your starting WR hurt when you are 2-4?

We are the Rams with a slightly better D, slightly worse offense

Dan Snyder is like Kim Il Jung, a tiny man with a desperate ego and iconic sunglasses.

STUPID POLL!!!

Posted by: ZornInMySide | October 18, 2009 4:20 PM | Report abuse

I really don't see where it makes a difference. I think the play in the 2nd half showed us that QB (while far from perfect) is not the problem with this team.

Time to blow it up. Top to Bottom.

Posted by: keino83 | October 18, 2009 4:20 PM | Report abuse

Do we really have to play next week? We already know the outcome. Actually we know the outcome for the rest of the season. 3-13!!!

The defense as a whole is good enough to win games. Even though some will complain they can't get stops in critical situations, the bottom line is the defense has given up 16 points per game. The offense is the worst in the history of the NFL. 13 points per game!!! unbelievable.

Chiefs might have sealed Zorns fate
Posted by Mike Florio on October 18, 2009 4:13 PM ET
Though a switch from Jason Campbell to Todd Collins at quarterback initially seemed to be the first move for a Redskins team that was trailing the 0-5 Chiefs, it didn't work.

The Redskins lost 14-6 in a game that featured no touchdowns. Instead, the Chiefs scored four field goals and sealed the win with a sack of Collins for a safety with 24 seconds left.

So now the question becomes whether coach Jim Zorn will be fired now or after next Monday night's game against the Eagles.

For the year, the Redskins have barely beaten the 0-6 Rams, helped the Lions end a 19-game losing streak, barely beat the 0-6 Bucs, lost to the previously winless Panthers, and now blew one at home to a team that has lost 28 of 30 games.

Jim, good luck in all your future endeavors.

Of course we need a QB too.

And a running back.

Barno - I feel your pain. Living out here in Ravens country, its twice as bad. At least the terps are kids, and a couple of good recruiting classes and the bad times are in the rearview. With the skins, it is hard to believe that mediocrity will even be achieved right now.

1965 - you got it right. buy no skins trinkets, jerseys (lets face it, that #28 still looks good), tix, etc. Boycott. Seriously, if you already have tix, don't go and pay for parking as well. forget about the team for a moment....as fans has Dan done anything to improve the experience of getting into and out of the stadium? folks will be in traffic for a few hours yet leaving the game.

No cash until philisophical changes occur. The skins still have my heart, but Danny will not get my cash until he changes his overall approach. Because the team will not win until the fundamental approach has changed dramatically.

Regards to all -

against KC, Tampa, Detroit, and StL, our Defense has allowed 3 TDs, with one of those against TAMPA which was an 8 yard drive.
Our Defense is THE REAL DEAL. we can hate on DeAngelo or Rogers all we want. Point is they're ALWAYS put in bad situations against teams with nothing to lose. The Giants would not have had Eli run a bootleg like Delhomme did, and the Giants/Eagles would not have thrown a pass on the most critical 3rd down like Detroit did with Orakpo covering.
Fact is, our Defense is DOING EVERYTHIGN to give our completely inept offense a chance in the 4th quarter of games that should already be out of reach by halftime.

If someone can step in and change this offense instantaneously after the bye-week, this could be a mildly competitive team.

Only problem is that Zorn isn't cuttin it now.

Welcome to continuing coverage of DEBACLE 09 ®

What did we learn new today?

1. The backup QB isn't the answer
2. DHall can tackle a running QB, sometimes
3. The 2nd rounders are still missing
4. Jim Zorn is having trouble staying medium
5. The OL is important (actually, we knew that, but perhaps the front office is realizing it, too)

Stay tuned for ongoing coverage of DEBACLE 09 ®

Note to O-line: If Danny was under center, could all agree to give him the same treatment Burt Reynolds got in "The Longest Yard?"

Zorn has no spine he bent to pressure playing Todd over Jason now he is out of a job. Todd is like a statue in the pocket and all of you bench Campbell fans knew this!! It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that behind this line Campbell was our best chance of winning !! To even question who should be the starter is pure stupidty !! Toddball has been deflated !!

Your right! You are absolutely right. If faced with two difficult decisions you should always choose the better of the two.
For example:

Big chick v. ugly chick = lights off and ugly chick.

Neither has its benefits and neither pays dividends. The end result is that you wake up on the losing end regardless.

Jim Zorn is the Big Chick and JC is the ugly chick. Sure, you can pick JC, but the end result is still a total loss.

Times are tough, but why settle! You are splitting hairs and comparing poop to urine. Both are a waste product, but maybe if we bring in some real engineers and make the proper decision we can turn waste into fuel and start having fun with hot chick with the lights on once more!

This from a guy some say picked the Skins to win the NFC East.

Campbell sucks. Collins sucked slightly less.

Campbell has had all the first-team snaps in practice over the last two years and has played 21 games. Collins hasn't played a meaningful game in almost 2 years.

The JC ball-sukkers never cease to amaze me; they preach patience and "let JC get into a rhythym" for 21 games, then say Collins is allotted 30 minutes to find a rhythym after a nearly 2 years of not playing.

Brilliant.

Hey Folks....Wow,,,I mean, just....wow. In my first post a few weeks back I remarked on how seamless the transition was from the Nats Journal (and their miserable performance) to the 'Skins. But upon further reflection-I got more hope for the Nats than our beloved 'Skins. The level of frustration and anger and bile-all well deserved-makes the Nats journal seem downright polite!Although the early returns haven't been good, at least the Slow Lerners don't have the long track record of incompetence that Snydlier and his minions do.And listening to the 'Skins players post-game-well, I never heard the Nationals take this many potshots at their co-workers, be they players, coaches OR "bosses".
Ya know, it's sad when the only positive development I could see was the large number of unoccupied seats.
Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful.
I am speechless.
This team/organization- it's as if it's a microcosm of what ails our country's business model!A myopic, overweeningly arrogant owner who is obscenely wealthy. Highly overcompensated minions who, while deploring the sad state of affairs, still take home their hefty bonuses.Tons of spin and media hand wringing over what's not being done (with B. Mitch cast as Matt Taibbi..). And of course, at the bottom-US!!! The ones patiently waiting for someone-anyone-to set aside their pride and prejudice, act like adults and GET SOMETHING DONE!!!! For the people who really care and are the reason for this organizations existence.
Go 'Skins....

I told someone last week that I had a hard time seeing the Skins winning another game this year. Oakland is still on the schedule but after watching this, I'm convinced, this is the worst team I have ever seen and they are not going to win another game this year. Those that went to the TB game saw the last win. This team is worse than the Spurrier teams, The 5-11 Gibbs team. The 4-12 Pettibon team, the 3-13 Norv team, the 6-10 Pardee team. The worst team since I have been a fan, since '75. The bad part is this team is not even in rebuilding mode yet. That comes next year. Pray that they don't get the CBA extended in March because it's going to be a long drawn out process. If the CBA doesn't get signed, I can honestly see 55-60 million of dead wood getting cut in the offseason.

Jason Campbell is through with the Skins. He locks onto receivers, will not throw until he sees them get open and even then is inaccurate.

The pass to Devin Thomas in the first half, had it been in bounds would have been a touchdown. JC consistently throws it off the mark.

All said, he looks alright ina uniform, but really doesn't have the talent to be an NFL QB.

He'll be cut at the end of the year.

Round Three: Jeremy Jarmon. (I'm really confident in this one.)
Round Four: Jim Cordle (C, Ohio State)
Round Five: Jarrett Brown, (QB West Virginia)
Round Six: Selvish Capers, (T, West Virginia)

This assumes we have these draft picks and haven't already traded them away. Which would not surprise me in the least.

I'm sorry but no one who watched this game could blame the loss (and the season) on anyone besides the offensive line. Heyer was a revolving door. Campbell and Collins were both under so much blind-side pressure, there was nothing to do besides swing passes to the backs. Just watch the replay of the safety if you want a prime example. And, Mike Williams and Will Montgomery, just awful. Maybe they are good depth but they have been totally exposed as ineffective starters. As long as those guys are lining up, it won't matter who is the starting QB or RB.

Campbell and Collins are six of one, half a dozen of another. Both are very limited. However, it's time to start Collins because the Redskins have nothing more to lose. Let's face it, you're at rock bottom when you can't put up, say, 17 points to beat the Chiefs. Yes, the offensive line is at the core of the problem, but Collins isn't any worse than Campbell, so the change isn't going to hurt and there's an outside chance it will help. You know what you're going to get with Campbell. Too bad, though, that we can't fire the owner, which is where the real problem lies.

Posted by: brianearman | October 18, 2009 5:33 PM | Report abuse

im not ready to say completely blow things up... There are good pieces in place on D at least and for the forseeable future.

Orakpo and Jarmon on the ends, Andre Carter has a couple years left. Daniels is done after this year (love him though). Role guys like Alexander and Wilson are great and they are performing.

Haynesworth and Golston are going to be here for a while..Griff is getting old, maybe 1 more productive year for him. Hopefully we can get like a 5th rounder or something for Montgomery.

McIntosh is performing well, and Fletcher has at least 1 more productive year left. Blades is a good 4th linebacker.

The corners are shaky..We need another starting caliber Corner. Hall and Rogers are pretty solid but nothing spectacular. We need a veteran corner to play nickel and let Barnes develope another year. Landry pisses me off, all the potential in the world but he keeps missing tackles and not making plays, Doughty is solid and so is horton but I feel like we need a Starting caliber Free Safety to move landry to strong safety.

I think we need a beast linebacker because Orakpo needs to be a DE.. and we need a veteran 3rd corner too who is starting caliber. Maybe even snag a free safety in free agency. (all these can be done in free agency).

Offense on the other other hand needs to be handled through the draft. JC17 is done, not all his fault but he is just not that good. Thomas and Kelly blow, the OLine is AWFUL.I hope Samules isnt completely done because then we obviously need 2 new tackles.
2 picks in the first 2 rounds is not enough. If we had a starting qb then you obviously go with a Tackle and a Guard in the first 2 rounds but now we are stuck with having to draft a qb. So I say start making trades, Maybe trade a Santana Moss and see if we can get a 2nd or 3rd rounder, if we arent winning with these guys in their prime why keep them? I dont even think people would be willing to give up a 2nd rounder for Moss but its worth a shot. If Samuels is OK and can be ready for next year then you take a QB in round 1 and Tackle with your 2nd pick and plug him in on the right side. If the moss trade were to work then you take an interior linemen with your other 2nd round pick and then you have a whole new right side of the line. The next year you take another tackle to replace samuels and maybe pick up a center in free agency.

Well i'm sure glad we cut our only QB who could have used his mobility to achieve when the O-line breaks down. I would have liked to seen Chase running the O. Colt is not a future starting QB, TC is a past or present at best, and JC's contract is done. Great!

Does it really matter?

Skins are toast for years due to the stupid draft strategy executed by da-nninny.

Most posters here thought that the Skins would go 9-7 or better which tells you all you need to know about the knowledge of football here - they also thought that CP is a great back when he is clearly waaaaay past his prime.

But the BIGGEST IDIOTS are those people who go to the games and line da-nninies pockets with cash each home game. Those people are truely proving that you actually can fool some of the poeple all the time.

jeffco01, I agree, the Skins need a free safety, however, I would not move LL back to SS. He would be the first player I would trade and would bring some value (maybe even a 2nd rd pick).

I am tired of seeing him miss tackles, take bad angles and penalties. Trade LL first.

I agre...Todd may not be the answer, but he does get rid of the ball quickly. And honestly, the deep pass to Thomas, and the seam route to Moss that Campbell threw poorly could have been the difference in the game. Both players were open in space and he missed both throws..no one to blame but himself on those!

Potentially new theory - the awful teams (such as Oakland) make a mini resurgence. When the awful teams (such as Oakland) play the non awful teams (such as Philadelphia) there is not an automatic blowout.

To nutshell it: there's more parity than we thought, afterall, and it's almost a matter of luck who emerges with a winning team (and only after those teams emerge, do the "reasons" for their winning emerge), and once they find themselves with a win, or wins, well THERE'S your motivation to keep on winning. The parity is a parity of talent but also a parity of a lack of motivation in general (too much money, wayyy too much money) and the like.

Snyder is indeed uniquely bad, but the problem is universal in terms of it getting harder and harder to motivate players and build team cohesion.

Mark my words, there will be implosions.

As fans, here is what we can hope for for this upcoming offseason. first and foremost, we have to hope that CBA doesnt get signed, so we can cut some players. according to thewarpath.net, here are the players we can drop next year.

1. Samuels (5M next year, 27M from 2011-15)
2. Moss (6.7M next year, 17 M through 2013)
3. Portis (10M next year, 31M through 2013)
4. Randy Thomas (5.5M next year, 15M through 2013)
5. Todd Collins (3.5 M next year, 10.5 M through 2013)

I think if we drop all of those players this upcoming season and stockup on linemen in the draft and start all over with a QB and a proven coach that can run a quality offensive system, we will be in the right path. Also, if the Skins choose to drop Haynesworth, and take a huge hit there also, I wouldn't mind. I also wouldn't mind if we kept him...he REALLY DOES make a difference on defense.

Okay in my fantasy world Snyder gives Cerrato his walking papers this week. The o-line is so bad I think a bunch of 90 year olds in wheel chairs would do better just by wheeling around and getting in the way.
We know the organization determined the o-line was biggest need last off season and not a thing was done so that is entirely on Cerrato's shoulders. Of course given that Snyder never tells anyone anything I guess we'll never know how he can justify keeping Cerrato. . . even if it is a big ole pile of steaming crap I still want to hear it.

Sheesh my arm is tired from beating this horse.

Cut - JC, Heyer, Tyron, ARE, Betts and MK12
Trade - A. Montgomery, Portis - possibly a 4th for a contending team needing RB depth, Trade Landry, Trade Rogers, Trade Cooley get whatever is the absolute best deal, either young OL, LB, RB, DB or draft picks

Let Daniels, A. Carter, R. Wynn go after season

Hire a real GM and coach in off season...start all over again

Then I would have L Fletcher kick AH and D. Hall in the balls as hard as he can, tell AH to get in shape and become a HOF, tell D. Hall stop being a raging PUss

It does not matter who starts against Philadelphia, the Iggles are going to eat us alive, anyway. That's what happens when you neglect the Offensive Line for so long and have horrible mismanagement in the front offices for 10 years. This is something that has been building up over the past several years.

I used to get really angry about this over the last few years but now it just makes me sad. This franchise has had a storied history and was once a flagship franchise that others strived to be like.

Now, it has become a complete mess. I think this is at the point where someone needs to hit the 'Reset' button. Trade the older veterans for draft picks, keep guys with character and ability and rebuild this team. Hire a GM to revamp the scouting department. The Redskins will go through some tough seasons first but it will pay off if done right... That's the big problem.. IF DONE RIGHT.

As long as this team continues with the type of management it has had, it's doomed to mediocrity..at best.. It stinks

What Offensive Tackles and Centers are available in next year's draft? Is it conceivable that we could come out of next year's draft with two new starting tackles?

Of course we need a QB too.

And a running back.

And a corner.

And a Center.

In my best Charlie Brown voice "Good Grief"

Posted by: brianearman | October 18, 2009 4:39 PM | Report abuse

It is entirely feasible to get 2 tackles in the first two rounds. We should lose enough to get Russel Okung in the first. Then that Adam Ulatoski from Texas should be there in the second round. The elite left tackles usually go really high and the mauler right tackles should fall to the second.

Posted by: PAskinsfan17 | October 18, 2009 5:56 PM | Report abuse

Am I the only one that noticed Collins was TERRIBLE? If they both stink, I'll at least take the younger one that runs a little better.

Why are we even talking about the QB or the play calling anyway? The fact that Stephanie Heyer and Michelle Williams are starting at BOTH tackle spots says all you need to know about this team. Put Montana back there with Walsh calling plays and they STILL stink.

Posted by: 4seamed | October 18, 2009 5:57 PM | Report abuse

Only games I think we might win would be at the end of the season when teams like Gints who are in the playoffs and don't want to risk injuries so play 2nd stringers against us like we did in '91.

I'd say we might win 1-2 because teams will start to assume the Skins are an automatic W for them but that would presuppose our offense is capable of actually doing something more than 2 times a game.

I have a totally random question. When/why does network choose to show or not show replay of the last play? I notice that our games we don't get as many replays shown . . . is that to keep us on schedule so the real football games can start on time? (I'm so gloomy I have nothing left but these kinds of thoughts.)

NE leads Tennessee 45-0 at half.

436 yards of offense for the Pats in one half including 345 yards passing for Brady.

345 yards? In one half?

Please tell me we don't play NE this year.

Or even Tenn.

So the Ravens have to start a ROOKIE LT against a guy who got 15 sacks last year, and this ROOKIE does a pretty decent job. This ROOKIE the Redskins could have drafted this year, but of course we didn't need offensive linemen in an o-line rich 2009 draft.

Being a WaPo RI reporter, what a great gig! I mean you can sit back hours after the game and report nothing and still have your job. In fact, you can get scooped on every story of substance too. Congress is the only thing better since you get that fat retirement and health care for life. UFB! Only in DC.

Posted by: 1965skinsfan | October 18, 2009 6:12 PM

And only on RI can you get someone hating on the reporters on a day when one of them had to stay home with a sick family member. And the hating dude is a fan of the 1965 skins, a team that went 6-8. Wow. Just wow. Keep bringing your goodness, sunshine.

Posted by: talent_evaluator | October 18, 2009 6:17 PM | Report abuse

Why did zorn not kick the field goal at the end of the half? MK made no play on the ball again.

As you can see Gibbs leaving was not good for the Redskins. Gibbs haters should line up and apologize. He started with a team much worse than this and got it to 2 playoffs out of three 'real' chances.

Colt fans need to crawl under a rock.

I think Vinny is gone gone gone. I am happy I did not give him the benefit of the doubt 2 years ago. But like so many I drank the cool aid months later.

It really doesn't matter who we start, but I answered "Campbell," simply because he's younger and can take more punishment.

Frankly, though, today I thought both guys had enough time to throw most of the time. For whatever reason, guys simply aren't getting open. Or when they are, the ball is off-target. The play-calling is also suspect, to say the least.

Collins definitely gets rid of the ball is little faster than Campbell, but he didn't seem very accurate to me. Maybe he'd be better with more reps with the first team offense, but QB definitely is not the root of the Skins' problems.

We need to draft a new owner.

Can we beat the Eagles? We swept them last year. We weren't very good then either. And right now they are losing to the god awful Raiders.
But the answer is no we will not beat them. They will come back after (possibly) losing this week and torch us 30-0. A close loss would surprise me

In 2007, as a rookie inserted into the starting lineup due to injuries, he held perennial Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan without a sack. Heyer played college ball at Maryland and earned All-ACC honorable mention honors as a senior. (emphasis added).

First stint with Redskins

Cerrato was hired by the Redskins in 1999. During this time, he acquired older big name stars like Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, Irving Fryar, and Mark Carrier. He was then fired by Marty Schottenheimer in 2001. During his brief hiatus from the Redskins, Cerrato worked for ESPN as a college analyst.

The Skins have hit a low not seen since the latter days of George Preston Marshall and his all white heroes of the south. Awful owners have awful teams. We're facing 2 and 14 this year. Maybe Congress will pass a law allowing Redskin season ticket holders to deduct the cost of tickets and attendance from their taxable incomes. Snyder should hire a few lobbyists to bribe congress accordingly. Shouldn't cost him too much.

EVEN WIKIPEDIA KNOWS HE SUCKS

Second stint with Redskins

Cerrato was subsequently rehired by Daniel Snyder in 2002 as the Director of Player Personnel and was named Vice President of Football Operations in 2008. The Redskins have posted a cumulative 52-65 regular season Win-Loss record during this second stint.

Many Redskins fans are upset with Cerrato's running of the front office. He has ignored offensive and defensive line depth causing the team to fail as the wear and tear of a football season goes on. In the 2008 draft Cerrato drafted 3 pass catchers (2 WR, 1 TE) in the 2nd round and failed to address pressing needs at other positions. The three 2nd round picks have yet to make an impact on the field for the Washington Redskins. Moves like this are causing fans to create online petitions that call for Cerrato’s removal.

The main point I'm trying to make is that we need two tackles, a guard, a center and a QB out of next year's draft. I don't follow College Football enough to know who they should be. I will say that I like WV's quarterback as a pro prospect though. My wife is a big WV fan so I've seen this kid play some and I think he's got what it takes to make it at the next level. If we could steal him in the mid to late rounds, I'd be happy. I think he's a better prospect than Tebow, at least.

First, a disclaimer:
I'm a white male, age 53, who is a professional. I came from a lower-income family and worked my way through medical school.
I am a CONSERVATIVE white male who thinks the US Constitution was a pretty good document before it was shredded...

Further, since the NFL now is a blatantly RACIST entity and you are NOT allowed any ownership if you happen to be white and conservative, I am SURE my opinion counts not.....

I absolutely think that Todd Collins should start. Not because of any brilliant football knowledge, but because the state-run media in our country thinks I'm a RACIST.

So, since Campbell is BLACK he CLEARLY is HORRIBLE and since Collins is WHITE he should start.

There you have it.

The liberal, state-run media and the NFL is so convinced that ALL white, male, conservative professional people are nothing but biggots, I just HAVE to vote for the white guy...

Sigh...

Pretty disgusted. Not only disgusted with the Redskins, but the pathetic NFL and this insanity that has overthrown our wonderful country...

Mr Redskins you're so right about the WTEM commercial structure. that's the main reason why I made the switch to WJFK recently. @ 106.7 they GLADLY extend segments to keep good conversation going, or to squeeze in more calls from the listeners. on 980, some hosts are so damn disrespectful to their listeners (JTII)...only Sheehan's show and Pollin/Czaban are worth listening to.

Vinny plays the creepy, two faced, tattle tale guy. He's only there to relays messages or rat on someone. Snyder's ego--obviously short man's disease--and will is to try and control every aspect.

Snyder is obviously deeply involved and intrusive. No respected football man would be caught dead working for a d bag like this.

Who could blame Vinny though? He had as much a chance at running another team's front office, as Zorn did of becoming a HC. Yet, both guys took the money and chance to prove they could. Except now, Vinny is a TWO TIME LOSER HERE.

Denver Broncos had the best line last year and it's looking like the Ravens have the best line this year.

"Comcast Sportsnet just reported that the lights art still on in the management offices at Redskins' Park and their cars are still in the parking lot."

The lights are on and nobody's home. Maybe that should be the new Redskins fight song.

That's OK. I mostly remember it because Don & Mike made a big deal about it on their radio show for several weeks afterward. It pops up on the Insider occasionally, too.

The term "Robinskie" has become synonymous with interim football coach for me, since most end up being a footnote in the team's history.

You could always sign up to serve your country, Mr. Disgusted.

I'm going to guess that you will find an excuse, just like your anal-cyst racist drug-addicted sexual-tourist Domincan child-raping buddy Limbaugh did.

I would like to see Todd Collins start the rest of the way. Keep in mind that today's game was a preseason game for him because if memory serves, he didn't take a snap in the preseason and if he did then it was only for several plays. He moved the ball as well as can be expected for not having playing time. Keep Campbell off the field and we will win.

This has to be one of the dumbest posts I've ever read on this site. I'm sad to say this, but a lot of these Skins fans have a football IQ of Cerrato/Snyder. Todd Collins sucks. I'm so happy he played today. Enough of this only if Collins played bulls!!t. He played and looked terrible. If you can't play ball by week 6, then you just can't play. The Chiefs had the worst defense in the league, Collins came in and didn't do s!!t. Campbell should be the starter and I hope he gets the hell out of here when the season is over. Go to a real football organization JC.

I was at the Skins game in Detroit and the same problems exist. The offensive line is the worst in the NFL. Repeat the offensive line is the worst in the NFL. Doesn't matter who the QB or head coach is. Stop blaming Zorn and Campbell for the offense's struggles. I guess Danny boy and Vinnie have some of you still fooled like Flounder and Barno. Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, Fred Davis, and Chad Rinehart have all been busts.

3 losses to 3 previous winless horrible teams shows me that we don't know how to draft quality players. Lots of teams today scored tons of points. Do you know what they all have in common? The have great, good or decent offensive lines. We have no offensive line. If you can't block you won't win ball games. A decade of ignoring the offensive line in the draft has caught up with the Skins.

We will be lucky to win 1 more game this year regardless who the head coach or QB is. Danny boy, will you finally fire Vinny and hire a real GM, or do you want to continue to be the laughing stock of the NFL? Draft nothing but offensive lineman with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks.

To the real Skins fans who know you have to have depth at every position on your team: it's gonna be a long season.

It's nice to hear Barno1 admit mistakes, despite the fact that was such a pr*ck to people that did not agree. Now, where is pabrian2003's mea culpa? Can't say that the Redskins are undefeated at home this season anymore.

Maybe pabrian2003 will now say that we are the best 2-4 team in the league? Can't say that I would even agree with that.

Larry Michael asking Ceratto tough questions? Barno1 admitting being wrong?

Two more signs of the apocalypse.

Play Collins for the rest of the season. Both ARE and Portis would do better at QB than Campbell...

Are you kidding me? Ravens best O-line? Please. The Vikings probably have the best O-line and D-line for that matter. Definitely top combination. If Favre stays healthy, put them in the SB.

They built the team the right way from the lines out.

Hate to tell you guys, but even Samuels has sucked for quite some time. He has been cruising on reputation only for years now.

Sadly, it's somewhat hard to tell if Zorn can coach or if Campbell can be a good quarterback or if Portis can still run not just bc of the O-line, but bc of the organizational dysfunction. I am inclined to say no, no, no, but they are not exactly in an ideal environment. Just saying. I could see Campbell being a very competent QB for the Vikings after Favre retires for the 18th time for instance bc he would have plenty of time to operate.

Per NBC Peter King just said Ceratto and Snyder have asked Jim Zorn to give up his play calling responsibility for next week's game.

I guess this is the "management" decision we have been waiting for.

Zorn ought to quit.

I think Jason Campbell and Todd Collins should do a sick out. It is obvious that no QB can excell in this franchise No O-line and terrible offensive plays. It will be to painful to watch next Monday night.

Are you serious about Zorn not calling plays next week?

Where can I confirm that?

Posted by: Thinker_ | October 18, 2009 8:28 PM | Report abuse

Only if we took Drew Brees a few years back. That would of been pretty cool. 4 TDs a game and over 350 yd. But were stuck with sloppy Cambell. em em BAD!!!

It's about freaking time they brought TC in. Sorry about the loss, but it's hardly surprising with everything else going on.

Let's not get embroiled in a QB controversy this week. Just give Collins his snaps with the first team during practice this week -- and keep Campbell's backside firmly planted on the pines.

Maybe Sherm Lewis can even develop or call a few plays specifically for TC's skillset.

Is Jeff Garcia still available?

"I worked my way through medical school"

Lie.

STFU. No, you didn't you moron. Maybe you had a job at the time, but you didn't pay for school, food, rent, utilities at the same time.

Not without your rich white cosigner, you pompous a55.

At 53 I guess I can understand why you think Campbell Collins is a race question. It isn't. Was race the reason Collins was a backup for 10 years behind white QBs?

At 53, one would think you'd have grown up a bit, and with your medical school education that you'd have some modicum of critical thinking.

To lay it out for your old brain:

Premise:
"Collins backing up Campbell is a racist conspiracy"

Refutation of Premise:
"Collins backed up white QBs for 10 years"

Premise Fail.

See how hard that was? Aside from your erred thinking, all you've left was a racist rant.

Best of luck to your patients of color, if you have any - and why not? Their money is as green as your thinking skills.

Football is complicated but if your not grounded in common sense you get these type of results. I dont know how much control Zorn has but someone is a f'n idiot. Common sense says that if someone is not performing PUT HIM ON THE BENCH. And Zorn your almighty scheme is some garbage, evident in the fact that we've won 4 of our last 14 games. F your goddamn scheme!!! This is the NFC East so why are we trying to run the West coast anyway. JC no were close to Joe Montana or even McNabb status. It's rediculous. Campbell throws a nice midrange ball but for all the talk about him having a great arm whats the point if his deep ball is mostly inaccurate? His footwork is terrible which I find odd considering he played college basketball. Awkward, no rhythem I've seen white boys dance better. And running out the stadium like a punk when they benched him shows he's a spoild brat. He should be grateful for his chance here. Any other coach(including Gibbs) would of benched him along time ago. Go hard or go home. Put up our shut up. Stuff like that. Collins isn't the answer either but at least he's not a complete spaz.
The rest of the retardation I see is (1)the fact that ARE is still returning punts. If Moss doesnt want to do it put D Hall back there(who in my opinion is only worth his contract when he has the ball in his hand, as he cant consistantly cover) let him earn some of his money. (2)They wont play Marco Mitchell. Why because Clark, Monk, and Sanders are all on a 1000 yard pace again? I have no beef with ARE(his a good possession reciever even thow his legs are gone) or Moss(when he decides to show up) but if Kelly or Thomas cant get open or catch or if JC just doesnt like throwing to them(whatever the problem is) TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. What do we have to lose?
(3)Keeping Cooley(your #1 reciever) in to block last week was retarded. Yoder could of played that role.
(4) Of course the play calling sucks but so does our time managment. JC always wastes time outs in the 3rd quarter because he to confused or retarded toget the right play in and then we look stupid after the two minute warning. If its not JC its freaking Zorn trying to challenge plays that anyone could see would clearly not be overturned (and yeah he almost did it today when we definatly needed all three time outs).
I respect Portis(even though he is a brown nosing, not practicing, backstabbing punk). If it wasn't for him we wouldn,t of made the playoffs those last two times, but we nedd some speed or at least a double threat third down back.
My last thought is what no one else is saying: Cerrato is not completly worthless(I dont think). If he had anything to do with recruiting our defensive coaches and players since he's been here I would have to say he's done an overall good job on that side of the ball.

Thinkin about next year cause this season is done all of us know it,but there is a brightside to this with pain comes pleasure even DANNY will see this vinny won't be here next year,TIME FO A CHANGE ASK OBAMA.Look I have thought the whole season JC should have been given A chance and that he has with a OLIINE or no line it really doesen't appear to make a difference he locks in on the same targets game in and game out TC is not going to be any better,we are a proud franchise reduced to the joke of the NFL we have to and will tend to the matters at hand and that's our team cause you see this will sooner than later affect DANNY boy's pockets, theres nothing wrong with spending money as long as it's done WISELY.
