First, of all the Redskins need to stop the Eagles this weekend...

Its pretty clear that CP isn't worth the money he makes. The problem is getting rid of him given the cap hit he incurs. The number of cap hits the Redskins have for players who are underachievers, for whatever reason, is ridiculous.

It calls for drastic changes both in personnel and philosophy at the TOP.

The Redskins appear to pulling out all stops for the Eagles. It won't be enough. Betts will probably play most of this game and hopefully, we won't have to hear Mr. Tight Pants Money Bags whining about it. Because they will likely fall behind Westbrook and McNabb.

Can't recall ever hearing that this season. Wow!

Wow. Our club sucks right now. It seems everyone is ready to pack it in and go home......

OMG! Maybe if all the starters practice together, they will execute when it comes down to 3rd down. Both offense and defense has been stinking it up on both ends.

Well the players and the coaches seem to be throwing in the towel.

Did you see JC's comments I posted earlier.

You can't lay an egg like last week and tell me your giving it 100%.

Just happened to read the chat the "pappa smurf" did. One one think that Synder took a picture of himself and jla and posted it on a billboard proving that he really is taller! Bitter, bitter

JLC has brainwashed some of you. Portis is CLEARLY the best player on that team. It's become so bad that people are actually calling for Betts to start. INCREDIBLE!

He is the best player when healthy, he is far from healthy, and has done nothing the last few games.

If one were reading the comments as a Dialog here's what I just read:

ROFL definitely Laugh worthy :D

Yeah really! I tried to post Betts stats earlier but I was rebuffed by WP for bashing JLC.

Since Betts re-signed in 2006: 146 carries for 512 yards for 3.51 ypc, 2 TD and 2 fumbles.

Not exactly starters numbers. They need to cut him, re-sign Marcus Mason and draft a RB late in the draft.

JLC has been drumming for Betts, but all his injuries have caught up to him. When he ran in 2006 for 1100 plus yards, he was running behind a healthy line. Now when the line is having issues, he folds up like a cheap tent.

Thats great listening to JC on 980, he says now that the pressure is off he hopes the team can play loose.

A starting QB in the NFL needs to be able to play loose even when the pressure is on.

I'm starting to think JC lacks the mental toughness that it takes to play QB in this league.

Couple London Fletcher notes.

The sports talk station in the Bay Area (knbr) had their evening guy talk extensively about Fletcher. How deserving he was and how ridiculous that the guy who has more tackles than any other player over a decade never made it to a Pro Bowl. How the people in general and the media more specifically, ignore sustained excellence. And it was especially noteworthy since one of the spots went to SF's Patrick Willis.

Sports Illustrated, which I routinely find reasons to despise, was at it again:

They listed Pro Bowl snubs:

"Derrick Brooks gets all the attention on the Bucs defense, but Ruud leads Tampa in tackles and is sixth in the league with 117."

London Fletcher has 118 tackles ... but no mention.

Flound - That's one of many I am referring to.

* JC's 'We're exhausted' qoute.

*Fletcher's crying to th emedia about getting snubbed again while taking shots at other players and clubhouses

*Zorn saying it's all about a good showing at the end. His defeatist attitude. The 'woo is me. I am the worst coach in the world' qoute (which was big outside of DC).

---------------------

WTF is worng with these guys? We still have a playoff chance. Everyone ahead of us aren't playing cake walk games. You have to atleast project that, even if you don't think that.

To me, all this is laid at the feet of the coach. Plain and simple. The FO can only pick the players and this is basically the same team from the last 3 years....

Betts gets about 4-5 carries a game why would he have starters numbers.

How did he fold up like a cheap tent, if anyone is folding running behind a hurt line it is Portis he has averaged 40 yards a game the last 6 games.

If he is so great he should be able to do more even with a banged up line.

Posted by: Flounder21 | December 18, 2008 1:10 PM | Report abuse

JC is mentally tough enough to play in this league. He's just isn't as accurate as he needs to be which is why press coverage against the Skins tiny receivers has been so successful this season.

I'd like to get a look at Todd Collins-quicker delivery/better accuracy-- running Zorn's system before the season ends. If he performs well in it, why can't the position be up for grabs?

Maybe Campbell needs to watch somebody else run the system he's learning to get better at it. Yes, he's the long term guy, but let Collins get beat up behind that shaky o-line. This strategy worked for Tavaris Jackson this season.

I'm rooting for the Eagles this weekend. A Skins win does us ZERO good. I'd also rather have the Eagles make the dance than the Cowboys.

Posted by: squid1 | December 18, 2008 1:12 PM | Report abuse

Flound, agreed, Betts hasn't been used NEARLY enough, and Portis has been OVER-USED. JZ needs to figure that out so that next season Portis has some gas in the tank at the end of the year. Among the many things JZ needs to figure out.....

Mistamoe,

What makes you think he has the mentality to play QB in this league.

I'm going on what I hear him saying, what are you going on.

Flounder21,

You can't really hate on a guy who's had to play in multiple offensive systems than I can count. Name a top q-back who's had as many changes to deal with Campbell, and if it's more than one, I'll agree with you. But you can't. If he had been in Gibbs/Air Saunders or Zorn's West Coast Flop system all this time and performed the way he does, I'd re-name him Pat Ramsey and send him packing.

Campbell needs Zorn to call the routes a big arm guy throws the best: deep in-cuts, 15 yard square ins, post-corner routes, the skinny post, the seam pass to a tight end out running a slow linebacker. Campbell's got a cannon arm and is throwing hitches, curls, and smoke screen dump offs that are more accuracy related than what he does best.

Plus: they should give Collins some time so Campbell sees how touch is as important as power when it comes to throws.

"Betts gets about 4-5 carries a game why would he have starters numbers." FLounder21

I am talking about 3.51 ypc. Felix Jones has an avg of 8.9 ypc and 3 TDs. He has 23 less carries and almost 100 more yards and 2 more TDs. Just an example of Betts ineffectiveness.

He does fold like a cheap tent because he just goes forward and has no field vision.

And I do think that they need to see what Collins can do in this system... what do they have to lose. Playoffs! Playoffs! What playoffs!
