JReid files this update from the practice field:

Clinton Portis is not practicing; Anthony Montgomery, Shawn Springs and Malcolm Kelly are doing individual work.

While we wait for further updates:

Or he is doing individual work because he does not know the offense well enough to practice with the full squad.

Yeah Reid needs to get inside info on Kelly. I hope it just to go over some routes and not because the knee didn't hold up.

BTW I asked via email if the skins will ever build a bubble for practices. Vinny was like, with the economy hurting they don't see anyone building much of anying.

My thoughts; by not building a bubble they only hurt the economy more. The team makes 100's of millions a year, spend that and freeking help everyone out.

I hate the stupid videos and never watch them. What did this one say about the injuries?

It said we are going to lose because of the injuries, and the fact that the great Romo is coming back.

Also since the Cowgirls our desperate for a win, they will win because as you know when a team is desperate they always win.

Probably right, Flounder. Someone else said it last thread, why don't they have him work on about 4 routes used in the red zone. Make sure he knows what he is responsible for doing on the 4 routes. and play him down there, or run those same routes at mid-field occasionally too. Then next week add one more route. I think they only have 9 routes on their "tree", so by Dec he would be able to run all of them.

In English, this is a complex formula that proves that Ladell Betts at 90% is still greater than Shaun Alexander at 100% in Nov 2008. No chance (ingen chans in Swedish) he is close to his 2005 form. Just forget that pipe dream my friend.

Dallas at Home (MUST WIN)
at Seattle (?)
Giants at Home (BRUTAL GAME WIN or LOSE)

So is the trip to SEA a traveling bye week or a trap game?

When did Home on the Range become your favorite tune? (“Where never is heard, a discouraging word?”)

SERIOUSLY, to my mind there are three key elements here, one having to do with the ‘pokes, two with the skins.

The ‘pokes return Romo. Even the rustiest of Romos is better than their backups for him.

The first thing that concerns me about the ‘skins is that Zorn has gotten as conservative in his play selection and play calling as Gibbs was last year.

But the worst news is Portis not playing, or playing ineffectively.

Portis running downhill for 120 or so yards against the cowboys last time out was a key to victory. Sorry, Pollyanna, Betts ain’t no Portis. And with the ‘pokes no longer worried about the run, they can double Moss, and keep everyone else in front of them.

They can be beaten, of course, but it will take a max effort by al hands.

Posted by: Rypien11 | November 14, 2008 11:51 AM | Report abuse

Witten is about 6-7" (I've even heard some on TV say 6'8")HB Blades is 5'10" and Marcus Washington is 6'3"
Height doesn't mean everything in pass coverage but it means a heck of a whole lot. I'm not seeing how this statement makes any sense. If it's a M. Washington health thing, then maybe, but outside of that I can't co-sign on this one.

Cork, your an idiot.

I hope Kelly's knee isn't acting up, but I would think if it did, he just wouldn't be out there. My guess would be that since Zorn said yesterday the Kelly would likely be inactive no matter what, that Zorn is focusing practice with the guys who he expects to actually play Sunday night.

Springs is a legit starting corner...when healthy...which is to say for 6 weeks/season, you'll get a shutdown guy. Above that, it's anyone's guess.

Am I missing something about 24 this week? He's said all week he's playing, regardless of practice time. Has he suffered a setback?

Posted by: Notorious_LMG | November 14, 2008 12:19 PM | Report abuse

History says that Witten should let the Angelo Hall come clean and block a potential game winning field goal, a-la Troy Vincent (who did just that in his first game in a Skins uniform)......not sure if they will have the Angelo playing teams though....

Ive seen the way that they double team Moss. That is exactly what im hoping for. He has consistantly and throughly ripped apart their double teams, and that was with better secondary players, these group of scrubs can trip team 89CK and hell still show them the same thing he does every game, the back of his cleats.

Re Sattle game: I do not view it as a trap game per se. Players will not look past Seattle, their most recent memory is losing badly there. Second, Zorn won't play it up, but players will know how important playing at Seattle will be to Coach Z. They will give max effort; locker room leaders will ensure this occurs.

Biggest drawback to Seattle game is the length of the trip. Flying across hte country twice in 36 hours is not good for the body, and you get home late and therefore start just a tad bit behind in prep for the following week. The trip in and of itself is a physiological "battery drainer".

From the Wash Times:

Cornerback Shawn Springs is practicing for the first time since he reinjured his calf in practice on Oct. 16 and linebacker Marcus Washington also has a helmet for the first time since he sprained a shoulder against Pittsburgh on Nov. 3. That means they might be available for Sunday's big NFC East game with Dallas. Clinton Portis came out to watch practice for the first time this week, but the NFL's No. 2 rusher is still a longshot to be ready for the Cowboys.
