So, here's my plan for taking Desean Jackson out of the game: How about we put Justin Tryon and Chris Horton on him all day? They played him in college so they can turn his lights off at will. And, Desean's only an inch taller than Tryon.

Just a suggestion.

I don't think Tryon has made close to the strides that Jackson has in the past year. The kid is still a special teamer whereas Jackson is exploiting veteran corners already. I don't like it, Talent. That said, I do think Tryon will become a solid corner. He and Kelly need to sit down with Darrell Green and Art Monk and figure out what it takes to be a consumate professional in this league.

JaLaC just had to go there on Friday. I should have known it wouldn't last, he had to take a shot at some point. Even winning doesn't keep him out of this crap. In the same day we see him take the pot shot at Snyder, and bring back the "famous" and mysterious "NFL exec". Why? I guess the lack of "comments" lately have been driving him crazy. Registration alone drove away many of the habitual haters, winning got rid of many more, I guess he's trying to convince them to come back by showing that he hasn't changed, and he's gonna continue to be a Jack@$$ no matter how well Snyder/Cerrato and the team plays. He said if the Skins started winning then it would be time to give some credit to Vinny and Dan, well, where's the credit jerk o f f!

Get on with it, I'm waiting.

LMG,

Tryon is playing behind some pretty good corners, isn't he? Who is Jackson playing behind?

Talent,

Yes he (Tryon) sure is - all the more reason not to put him on their best WR (right now, with Curtis not 100%) this week...sounds like Carlos will get the assignment most of the day. Time to step up 22!!

I didn't listen to the video, but other than the obvious few Philadelphia specific things, this weeks keys are the same as every weeks.

1. Understand what is going on in the game while you are on the field so critical penalties can be avoided.
2. Avoid turnovers.
3. React to the rush, avoid, reload and fire.
4. Win the time of possession battle by establishing the run and not going away from it until you absolutely have to, even though Philadelphia has a good run defense.
5. Put a safety on Westbrook all day even if he is hurt. Make someone else beat you.

Last if Springs can't go we are in trouble. It changes our whole defense when he is there. it allows man coverage so we cover the run and pass rush more effectively. If we can't cover in man and have to play more zone, Donovan will eat us up and their rookie will look like Jerry Rice.

Now just an opinion, is Tryon really so bad that we can't even trust him to catch a punt? He has blazing speed and return experience. Why are we not making this guy earn his pay check?

I was just listening to a video on PFT and they were talking about 4 of the best teams in the NFL. The Redskins were in the segment and Florio made the comment that if we could follow up a victory in Dallas with a win in Philly, then we could possibly be talking about the Redskins being the best team in football. Wow, just wow!

Note to Scampbell1975: I don't think we should be celebrating any rating on the skins ranking, if we continue to win those things will take care of themselves.Sunday is huge because it will put everyone on notice that we are a squad to be reckoned with and put our division foes in chase mode, they will have to come to our house to get even.

just show the team the video of Nov. 12th 1990 (BB game). I HATE PHILLY & THEIR FANS!

I think as afraid as Tyron has looked in coverage (running scared) maybe giving him the ball with 11 guys chasing him might work!

Wow, and some people accuse ME of hating the Redskins...

Oh wait, you mean it''ll be hard for jackson to run fast while laughing?

Horton can take him "out" of the game with a hit. Apparently he knocked a half dozen players out of games with hard hits in college.

But Tryon? Now THAT's funny...

Healthy and now brilliantly coached, this is a VERY fine football team...

Unfortunately, it is notoriously thin at several critical positions. Springs availability is worth seven points, easy. The linebackers MUST stay healthy. Ditto Portis, Campbell, Cooley and Moss. Can't lose another Olineman...

It's like the old saying "As long as you got your health..."

Posted by: Corkczar | October 4, 2008 1:29 PM | Report abuse

scamp, one could easily make the case for us as the best team if we beat Philly...in Week 5. I'd much rather be the best team in Jan/Feb, but this would be a nice start toward that goal. this team has to stay focused and hungry. I don't want them hearing that kind of talk. Zorn strikes me as the type of guy that won't let that happen

I was sitting in a bar in LA a couple of years ago and the person I was with tapped me on the shoulder, pointed behind me and asked "Friend of yours?" I turned, and actually said "Yuck."

Last night I saw the same guy on TV and said "Yippee" as each of the 12 guilty verdicts were announced.

Enjoy your time in the slammer, Orenthal. God know you've earned it.

Now I can go back to that bar again.

I've heard sooo much about Jim Johnson's FIERCE Defense and the 26 blitz packages he has prepared for this game that I almost think we should sit JC so he does not get hurt. I'm kidding but also kind of serious. "They" are saying JC has not seen defense like this and will be on the ground a lot.

Lisa come on now, Soup isn't hidding from anybody! What kind of message would that send? Of course it won't happen but still. We do need to make sure we commit to the run game, even if it doesn't pay immediate dividends, it's vital to keeping JC upright and opening up the deep ball to 'Tana, the intermediate routes to Cooley, ARE, etc, and reverses to Thomas, et al

I like the first video where you can see some guy walking past - when they're supposed to be driving.... lol.

Posted by: cmecyclist | October 4, 2008 2:02 PM | Report abuse

Quite simply, Bugel is no slouch and is a genius. Chances are he'll know the 26 blitz packages, how to recognize them, and how to block for them, and will get that information to his players. No doubt this will be a tough test for JC and the OL, but I believe due to our genius coaches, we'll be fine.

Skins defensive front 4 will have its best game of the season and the RBs as pass rceivers will have their best week.

I'm hoping Betts gets 3 running TDs, mostly because Campbell and Portis is against me in FF this week. But I'd rather see my FF team go down than my Skins go down.

Upon what do you base your opinion? In the two games between ASU and Cal, Jackson scored a TD in each and had his usual numbers.

Maybe Zorn should throw in some acting drills next practice. HBO could cover it. Juilliard Knocks.

Jackson had five catches for 88 yards in one game and four catches for 67 yards in the other. Plus Tryon had an INT in one of the games. If Tryon could do it again Sunday, I'd play him.

Believe me Greg, i wasn't gettin all hepped up on goofballs over what Florio said. I was just amazed that someone in the media, even if it was just Florio, said that we might be the best team out there. When's the last time anyone ever said that, even when we were. The media typically hates us.

So of ESPN's 10 "experts", only former Skin Mark Schlereth picked us...1 out of 10 picked a 3-1 team that just beat Dallas over a banged up Philly squad. This pi$$es me off, but I also love it. Low under the radar...

Vinny was asked earlier this week what he thought of Desean Jackson while scouting him. Vinny said he really liked Jackson and thought he was the most polished (NFL ready) WR in the draft but that he wanted to draft a tall WR to compliment our smaller guys.

I checked the ESPN site and yes, all but Schlereth selected the Iggles to win tomorrow.

Then analysts unlike us are not Skins fans...

I want the Skins as badly as anyone on here, but what do we expect those analysts to do?

They know Iggles lost last week
They know Iggles have been focused after loss
They know Skins are on a high
Skins probably still looking back celebrating

Springs is hurt
Westbrook is back
Skins won't be sneaking up on anyone now
Game is in Philly

So what do we expect analysts to do

But HTTR!

An excerpt from Fox sports page:

Keeping with the Wall Street theme, let's give some quarterly earnings reports for all 32 teams.

Buy, Buy, Buy: Tennessee, New York Giants, Buffalo, Washington, Pittsburgh, Baltimore.

The common thread of these squads? Dominant defenses. The NFL's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 12th-ranked scoring defensive units are represented.

We are not gonna sneak up on anybody anymore. People have taken notice. If we win this weekend we will have the target squarely on our backs. Having said that, I'd rather have the target on our backs rather than us having a target on someone elses.

Clearly we've exhausted every possible angle on this "football" thing happening tomorrow, so we might as well distract ourselves... at least in my case if I think about it too hard I get waaaay too worried about the Iggles.
