The Legend of Choo Choo

By now this is probably all over the internets, but Portis is back in costume. He was quite, hmm, flamboyant, in his attire and mannerisms, donning a Calypso type, multi-colored shirt, a black wig and some huge shades the type I have rarely if ever seen on a man. (Huge, oversized circular shades).

Anyway, Choo Choo has chatted with Southeast Jerome from the dead and says he is doing fine. Choo Choo is here to teach Portis to dance when he gets back in the end zone. As we all recall, Portis started adopting characters when he met the media on Thursdays in the 2005 season and stuck with it; Redskins end up winning 5 in a row to get the playoffs.

In full disclosure, I think Coach Janky Spanky was my favorite persona of all time.

We all knew something was up when Portis entered Redskins Park after practice through a side door - he got changed in the locker room then greeted up outside as Choo Choo.

"My message for the Washington Redskins is, 'Go out and have fun.'"

Well, who can argue with that. Coach Joe's eyes bugged out when he saw the scene, but it worked in 2005 and Joe is a creature of habit. We'll see if it becomes and every week thing.

Randoms: Would not be surprised if there is a good bit of zone blitzing against McNabb Sunday. He's completing just 50 percent of his passes against pressure and the Eagles have had some O line problems ... Will be interested to see how many plays they get out of Smoot. I think Torrence might be called into more duty ... Chris Wilson and Lorenzo Alexander - the two young longshot D Linemen to crack the roster - continue to earn rave reviews. Alexander is becoming very effective playing offense, defense and special teams, while Wilson is adding swim moves and more power rushes to his arsenal and looking like more than just a speed guy. Throw in Montgomery and Golston and you can see the making of a good deep unit. Pretty stunnign considering the shape of the D Line, say, last November, and how the future looked bleak ...

This is it for the blog this week for me. I am taking a personal day tomorrow to take care of some family stuff and will not be on-line all day. Hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll check in with the inactives Sunday. Also, there is a chance I can do a blog-night-out drink-a-thon Saturday night - Lauren and the kids will be out of town - so if I get enough emails maybe I'll post something and we'll imbibe together.
Cheers.
