Taylor With First Team; Betts Gets Crunched
The morning practice update, from Jason La Canfora and Jason Reid, at Redskins Park:
The Redskins are back in full pads and this is turning into a physical practice with some real hitting going on. The team is running lots of short yardage plays -- which means there are pileups at the line (you know, the stuff you live for). In short, as Jasno just texted me, "all the good stuff."
Jason Taylor is working with the first-team defense in 11-on-11 drills; Cornelius Griffin missed a few plays -- Lorenzo Alexander was in his spot. Reed Doughty and Vernon Fox are at safety with LaRon Landry and Kareem Moore out. Moore, the rookie who's recovering from knee surgery, is not in uniform. Landry, who has a minor hamstring pull (a tweak), is in pads, but is on the sidelines not doing much
Ladell Betts just took a hard hit. He limped to the sidelines slowly but seemed to be walking it off. He was hunched over, but seemed to be fine.
Rookie wide receiver Devin Thomas is back on the field after a workout (riding a stationary bike and lifting, among other likely things). However, he will not be participating in practice. DE Chris Wilson (mild calf strain) is not in pads. Landry, Wilson and DE Erasmus James are working with trainers.
