T.J. Duckett Update

A buddy tells me TJ left Detroit today without a deal. Set to visit the Jets on Wednesday and Seattle later this week. Might not make a final decision until visiting all three places. Will let you know once I hear more. He was a great guy in a bad situation here and I wish him all the best.

I have a bunch of contract info regarding recent Redskins signings as well, but I'm unsure whether to post it all up here or save it for the paper. We'll see what Cyn Cyty says.

JLa, give it up here so we can say we had it first before it's reposted on ESPN.com, with no attribution to you.

Pretty please?

Jason,

You're a beast. I think I'd actually pay for this kind of coverage/analysis - IN March, no less.

Jason, you need an agent to show you the money, baby!

Or as TK would say, "back the truck up, Jason wants the CASH!"

Cheers,

Adam

Cyn Cyty, if its just going to be about Ade Jimoh, feel free to save it for the print edition. If its about the travel itineraries of FA blocking tight ends, offensive linemen, or defensive tackles, PLEASE FEED THE COKED UP HAMSTERHOOD OF REDSKINS INSIDER!

I agree,

I wish there was a way to hang on to T.J. Duckett.

Posted by: Cheyenne, WY | March 6, 2007 5:39 PM | Report abuse

Ducket goes to Denver and somehow they get our 6th round pick, too.

Doesnt sound like a great market for TJ...

Jets have Henry and two young promising backs, detroit looking to make a bigger RB splash plus who knows maybe Jones will heal, and go back up S. Alexander AND M Morris and Seattle....

With the glut of FA and trade bait backs its a bad time to be TJ

I'm interested to know more about the police escort that took London Fletcher and the skins brass to the Wiz game on Friday. And we wonder why DC is in a crime emergency.

I mean Jets have Thomas Jones...its all...so...confusing...

Posted by: Chris Larry | March 6, 2007 5:45 PM | Report abuse

More than likely this is a dumb question but I am going to ask it anyway...

Would it be feasible and, what would it cost us, to try and keep TJ just for depth?

Posted by: Cheyenne, WY | March 6, 2007 5:46 PM | Report abuse

TJ Ducket. What a class guy. Never complained about his role. This guy, in the right system, will be a great addition to any team, both on and off the field. I wish him nothing but the best.

Cheyenne,

Keeping TJ would be feasable for us, but not for TJ.

I could see him ending up in NE or Oakland or maybe SF backing up Gore.

Since terms of deals aren't disclosed by the redskins, how do you know so much about them. Are you kin to Scooter Libby?

Posted by: Denesh | March 6, 2007 5:52 PM | Report abuse

Maybe Green Bay will consider TJ after losing A. Green. Or Arizona. Or Tennessee.

Posted by: DCdangerous | March 6, 2007 5:52 PM | Report abuse

But with CP coming off injury, wouldn't it make sense to have someone there to back up Betts (assuming Betts is not dealt before hand).

J-La, keep it coming, buddy. Our appetite for thy insider knowledge is insatiable. Thank you.

Blog peeps, I'm on the road in NYC and hope to catch up with all the action tonight. No shenanigans, actually working (*gasp*). I miss youse guys.

By the way, "Devner" is pure gold.

I hear Bill Polina loves Devner.

Nate in the NYC doing "work". Does that mean you can expense those $20 martinis later tonight before drunk blogging?

Posted by: 4-12 | March 6, 2007 5:59 PM | Report abuse

Of all the rumors I heard, I think the one about trading Betts is totally butkus. With someone of equal if not better running power as CP as your backup ther is no WAY you would lose him. And Rock Cartwright is a good #3 guy and KR, which is why it is unlikely the Redskins will take TJ back.

we rolled out the nice weather for you Nate!

SKINNYS I HAVE NEVER SEEN A GROUP OF BOZOS SO CONCERNED ABOUT A PLAYER WHO YOU WONT RESIGN YOU SKINNY CLOWNS ARE TOO OBSESED WIT A SOORY LOSING TEAM

HEHEHEHEHEHEHE

I still think lots of teams need a #2 back, which is the kind of role that fits best for T.J. based on his accomplishments to date.

He would be a good #2 back in Buffalo, either behind McGahee (unless they trade him) or Dominick Rhodes (who is there today). If Rhodes leaves Indy, Duckett would do great for himself with Addai. Bears need a #2 behind Cedric Benson. Ideally for the Skins, he doesn't go to Chicago (b/c the are a regular season rival). He'll do fine. That's just what Michigan State grads do.

Posted by: dcsween | March 6, 2007 6:07 PM | Report abuse

skins should just shut up already with this we want to trade down talk. just let the whole thing unfold on draft day and make the team that has to have player x pay for the privilage.

TJ was (and still is) a class act. I hope he gets a wonderful deal somewhere.

What about Baltimore? They released Jamal Lewis.

Posted by: Lisa | March 6, 2007 6:12 PM | Report abuse

another post up.

Lisa, if its any consolation, Jason guessed that Baltimore could be a trade partner for Springs. B-more is much closer than other places.

As I understand it Denver also has Teyo Johnson TE. According to EA Sports Madden NFL that dude has some speed but with some work could be a good no 2 too Mr. Cool...ey. Can we get him thrown into a megga crazy super fun traid?

Posted by: 35332 | March 6, 2007 6:43 PM | Report abuse

AHHHHHH!!!! I come home and there are hundreds of posts and its all starting to blur together...I wish I was a guy and had this stuff ingrained in my DNA!

I do think though there should be a permanent moratorium on doing any deals with Denver or any of the New York Teams! (a la Jetskins from a few years ago, though I love Randy Thomas!)

Posted by: heath1030 | March 6, 2007 8:15 PM | Report abuse

I still can't believe we gave up a 3rd rounder to Denver for this guy, and now where considering a trade to get that pick back!

That trade for Duckett was the panic move of the year, possibly the decade.
