Torrence Finds Spot in New Orleans

From Jason La Canfora:

Recently released cornerback Leigh Torrence was claimed off waivers by the Saints and Vikings, according to sources. He was awarded to New Orleans based on fact that they have a worse record.

Among the teams that expressed interest in having him visit had he become a free agent were the Patriots, Bears, Eagles and Ravens.

Of course Clinton Portis is going to play.

You young whippersnappers ain't been around long enough to realize that Jim Zorn not only appropriated George Allen's old-school "hip, hip, hooray," but has also adopted Allen's penchant for chicanery during Dallas week.

Let the Cowgirls think Portis may not play.

That's just what we WANT them to think!

PS: All the best to Leigh Torrence. Glad he found a spot fast.

Remind me what day of the week we can talk about the draft. I wanna talk about these guys, punt returners (like mid round picks).

yes! Giants and Eagles beat out to Torrence's signature, thanks N.O.!

sween, shame on you! Don't you know that we can only linemen this year?

Good for Torrence. Saints lost starters Tracy Porter and Mike McKenzie for the season due to injury, so he's in a good place for him.

Posted by: dcsween | November 10, 2008 5:10 PM | Report abuse

sorry, we can only DRAFT linemen. Leave it to me to screw up a zinger with poor grammar.

"Zorn spent Saturday and Sunday biking with President George W. Bush, something that he has done with more regularity. Bush took him to school, Zorn said. "He rode me into the ground," Zorn said. "He's in fantastic shape.""

There you go all you conspiracy theorist. Torrence was a BIG VOCAL OBAMA supportter. While our last head coach spoke at the RNC Convention and JZ regularly bike rides with the 'Hated' one AKA #43.

So, the FO and head coach was so mad they picked up Hall just so they could cut Torrence by the time JZ made it for his afternoon Bike Ride with the prez. Then they laughed all the way to the bank.....

That makes complete sense.....

As always, I used CAPS in the definition #2 aspect. (NOT NUMBER ONE SUCH AS MAPS I AM DOING NOW.)

While I understand the affinity for Leigh Torrence, it's not like he won't find work. Dude went to Stanford and interned on the Hill.

Love the signing of Hall, only 24, and will play with something to prove. May allow Skins to finally part ways with the cap stifling and seemingly always hurt #24.

Hate to say it....but Vinny is not doing that bad of job.

I actually feel sorry for Leigh Torrence.

I mean to go from playoff contenders to playoff pretenders is the worse.

He pulled a REVERSE DHall. I would be mad as SJK..

Wow...You know the rest......

So what is the over/under on how many more posts we will get from JLa about disgruntlement over Torrence's release? I say that it is mentioned in at least 4 more posts. After all, this is JLa's forte - identify an FO decision that will displease people, get as many negative quotes as possible.

Does that always happen? when players get released and several teams want him then he goes to the team with the worst record? i never knew that before.

I'm not a Jasno basher, and I don't agree at all with releasing Torrence given the other players that could have been released, BUT...I hope this is the last post on Torrence. Come on, Jasno, give it a break. It's really not a big deal.

How did we get distracted from talking about grilled cheese sandwiches?

Posted by: dcsween | November 10, 2008 5:27 PM | Report abuse

Instead of towels, they should give out lanyards. Terrible lanyards. Maybe add whistles. Everyone loves whistles. Yes, terrible whistle lanyards. Make it so.

Posted by: dcsween | November 10, 2008 3:18 PM

Actually, i think this is a great idea... we could all whistle and wave our lanyards..

Haven't heard the grilled cheese with bacon. American cheese, couple slices of tomatoes, and as much bacon as your bread will hold. Can never have enough bacon!

The cowgirl blog is reporting JC went on vacation to Disney World over the bye week and trying to compare it to Romo's little jaunt to Mexico with that retard girlfriend of his...they must be getting desperate to find motivation over there.

New Orleans and Minnesota? Pitiful.

If they'd released Tryon, he would have been claimed by Patriots, Giants, Cardinals, Baltimore, Indianapolis, and Green Bay. Good thing we kept Tryon.

Good to see Torrence land somewhere where he can get PT.

Still skeptical about Hall coming and Torrence going, but no question about the talent upgrade.

Would have liked to see Vinny get through a year without going after potential character issue guys. But he pursued Ocho Cinco, so I'm not surprised about Hall.

Was a bit surprised they haven't told Hall that he is the punt returner.

It's amazing how much love a nickel corner is getting!!!!

Leigh Torrence is a servicable CB...PLEASE LET'S MOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!!

Hall is:
24 years old
former pro bowl CB
can return punts
a potential cancer (doubt it with Blache, Fletcher, etc.)
