Trade for J. Taylor? Not Interested

From Jason Reid:

J La is headed to the Comcast SportsNet studio to appear as a guest on Washington Post Live, so he asked me to put the word out on the Redskins rebuffing Miami's overtures to trade defensive end Jason Taylor, according to league sources.

Miami is seeking draft picks in exchange for the NFL's 2006 defensive player of the year, but the Redskins, who are actively trying to trade out of the 21st pick in the two-day draft that starts tomorrow, are not interested in Taylor, 33. Although Taylor, an 11-year veteran, had a typically productive performance in 2007 (56 tackles, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles and one interception), the Redskins do not see him as a good long-term fit with what they are trying to accomplish, sources said, and their stance is not expected to change.

5 TCCLs to Jason La Canfora for being right all along about the Skins' interest in making a plash in general and in trading for Chad Johnson in particular.

Jasno has taken a lot of heat up here for the CJ stuff and the plash criticism, but I think he's been proven right.

Just sayin'... happy Friday, everybody.

First! Maybe Danny Boy and Vinny have finally learned their lesson. Take Merling in the first round and Nelson in the second round.

Also, really, REALLY gratified to see us pass on Jason Taylor. The guy is better than Bruce Smith was when we signed him, but I would have seen this as Bruce Smith 2.0, and I was not a fan of the 1.0 version.

Also, F Parcells. Sorry, Redcoat, had to get that one in there.

I'm glad the CJ trade didn't work out.

I think they should draft a pass-rusher - the best available at 21, and forget about adding CJ, a guy who's shown that it's all about HIM, and not the team he's on.

Also, I really believe Anthony Mix might be a productive WR in this league yet, if given the opportunity.

btw, I haven't been on since the end of the season, so I was surprised that I didn't have to log-in to post today.

They dropped that feature already, huh?

Strange.

Posted by: dan | April 25, 2008 4:49 PM | Report abuse

No worries. They only trade for old guys when they're rep'd by Drew.

dan, drop me a line at nateinthepdx at gmail dot com. There are a few good places, and a regular gang of idiots who try to watch together when we can. Also, welcome to Portland!

MrRedskin, the registration/login for comments is broken, should be back on in the next week or two.

From 2 thread ago G if you are still reading.

I do actually reside within the city limits of SF. The winter here is the equivalent of mid-fall in mid-Atlantic. Breezy and turning towards chilly although can get cold if fog rolls in unexpectedly.

Does rain but usually not really till Jan/Feb.

And because it is Cali you can have spectacular sunny days at 60+.

Can't understand why someone would say stay away unless they live in the Sahara and fear anything less than 80.

From a strict name standpoint and given the proclivities and talents of the coked up hamsters to come up with names obviously Limas Sweed is #1 but Jordy Nelson . . . well being a bunch of geeks we'll simply feast for days.

Been away a while...has there been any sort of "no doubt about it" for the Skins' first pick?
