Looks like Shanny wasn't willing to give AH away. F titans.

Jeff Fisher says "door is shut" on a trade for Albert Haynesworth

Posted by Mike Florio on April 22, 2010 10:13 PM ET
The Titans made a run at swinging a trade that would have brought defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth back to Nashville.

And it's not gonna happen.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that coach Jeff Fisher said the "door is shut" on a deal with the Redskins.

======
Titan's owner probably didnt want to contribute back half the bonus Snyder paid to AH. Which I believe was part of the asking price.

There is not one NFL owner that wants to ever "bail out" Snyder after he blew up the Coaching salary "unofficial" cap with the Gibbs signing. Its had HUGE negative operational solvency effects on smaller market teams (HC/AC salaries come out of a different cost center).

Thanks, Curz.

"Have you had a chance to meet or talk with Chris Samuels?"

"Yeah, I just got done talking to him. He told me he’s going to do everything in his power to help me become a good pro tackle. That coming from him, he’s one of the best to ever do it, also. I told him I was ready."

Well Chris has him at least until the end of training camp, loving that he's into being this involved.

Obviously the doll as Jon Gruden. Ben Affleck as the intensely boring Steve Young. I need a Tom Jackson.

Feeling like Rodger Saffold

Posted by: dcsween | April 22, 2010 10:47 PM | Report abuse

Here is to hoping I'm wrong. I'm 220 and I can bench 220# 20+ times...Usually measurables don't mean squat especially if I was compared to TW but I thought Okung should have been the pick. I also thought McNabb was the wrong move.

Once again...I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Posted by: Diesel44 | April 22, 2010 10:49 PM | Report abuse

Except he had no off the field issues that could be proven. You never heard he was a bad teammate or had a poor work ethic. You go ahead and take Captain character in Tebow, ill take Bryant lets see who has a better career.

Posted by: KingJoffeJoffer | April 22, 2010 10:23 PM

===============================

He forgot his cleats to his pro day, overslept during one of his interviews with a team and stood up another coach for half a day. Hmmm. Yeah, no thanks. Others have said he wasn't the greatest teammate b/c he was late for meetings, poor work ethic, felt "entitled," etc., so yes I have heard that. And, no, I'm not saying Tebow will be a better pro, but yes, I'd rather have him on my team. It's much easier to find a WR than it is to find someone with Tebow's leadership and work ethic. It deserves a spot on my 53 man roster. And, I'm prolly the LEAST religious person on RI.

I don"t think cash could be exchanged between teams in a trade. AH would have to give back his money. I really think that once the Titians didn't give up the 16th pick, they could only offer a 3rd round pick as they don't have a 2nd rounder. The third was too low w/o something else to add value to the offer.

Diesel440-

Okung is the better player now. I agree Okung has less bust potential and is probably a safer pick,

However, Trent played in our system in college. Oklahoma came to denver training camp a number of years ago and brought back with them the zone blocking scheme. Trent has played in that since his freshman year, and is a better fit for our style of offense. He is less polished for sure, but he also has more upside as well (with that means more bust potential...) However, with Samuels to help and the Shannys working with him, I have faith it'll work out fine.

Colts ... you know, if they had Bob Sanders AND Taylor Mays, that would not be a good thing. But Rodger Saffold awaits and Polian blamed the O-line for the Super Bowl. [Vinny Cerrato also says that the Skins' O line cost him the Super Bowl.]

The Raiders got one helluva player. If we didn't need a LT so bad, he woulda/shoulda been our pick!

I've seen both play (TW & Okung) 10+ times over the last 2 years. Williams has Bruce Campbell type measurables minus the bench press but offers less risk. Okung is a sure LT while IMO TW will be a stretch to play opening day at LT. He may develop into a LT but he will need to get stronger before he is even penciled in at LT.

I would have traded back although I'm sure they tried and were unsuccessful.

========

Hey if a LT had to be picked, I liked Okung, better... And if you read the scouting reports on Trent, alot of them (most) said he had questionable work ethics.. (posted the links earlier).
The Skins already have an overpaid "questionable work ethic" player. Who knows if he'll turn into an AH after his first paycheck..? Especially, if there are problems already identified...
Hope I am wrong.. As profootball weekly showed.. The draft is less than a 50-50 friggn crap shoot.

You're right. My bad. It begins at 6:30, right? Ok, my point being ... The skins have time to tonight, tomorrow and the entire 2nd round (to see who drops to the 3rd round) to swing a deal. I still don't think the Lions are out in terms of acquiring Hanesworth. I think Martin Mayhew (remember him?) is giddy at the idea of putting Suh and AH together at DT. He's seen how effective in can be in Minnesota with the Williams twins, IMO.

AH has gone from the team's "starter" at NT to competing at different positions. Chalk round 1 to AH.

Shanahan: Haynesworth not on trading block
By: John Keim
Examiner Staff Writer

Shortly after Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher told Titans beat writers that "the door is shut" on any potential trade for Albert Haynesworth, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said the defensive tackle is not being shopped.

"We don't have him on the trading block," Shanahan said. "Does that mean we won't listen to anything that would happen? No. But it would be us listening. I would not anticipate him going anywhere unless he doesn't come to our [training] camp. I'm looking forward to him coming in and competing at different positions and seeing how he practices and helps our organization."

If the Redskins did trade Haynesworth, I've heard, like others have, that they'd like to get a second-round pick in return. Or, perhaps, a third-rounder this year and another one next year. This draft is deep in the second and third rounds, so it would make sense that Washington would want to get picks in those rounds. They don't have any now, but Shanahan also told us a couple times that Donovan McNabb is this year's second-round choice (and Jeremy Jarmon is the third rounder).

In my 25 plus years with traveling to and from college and NFL practice fields I have a very good feeling with Trent Williams . By the time TC rolls around TW will have a workout schedule /program that will add 65 + lbs in the areas needed to play LT . The positive side to TW is his hand and foot placement in the "ZONE" which is the most important with the scheme Coach Shannny will use to produce two (2) 1000 yard rushers this coming season. TW shores up the left side of this line by the middle of the game schedule this season . I sopke to TW last evenning in New York while we had a late night snack he is heading back to home to finalize some family stuff and he will be in Middleburg , Va this weekend more then likely sometime Saturday although Mr. Snyder and Coach Shannny have express to him that today late afternoon Redskin 1 will be sitting on the tarmack waiting for him along with his new O-LINE coach & Chris . The one thing we all talk about yesterday morning was once again his foot speed and his timed 40 . This monster is super dooper fast . He will have NO problems with reaching the "WiLL " & Sam backers . Gentleman lets get it on & welcome to the rebirth of the Redskins new top producing offense .
