Unrestricted and the Linemen

Topic 1 for the week figures to be the offensive line and Jason Reid kicks off the discussion.

Over at the Bog, Dan "Oooooh, it's not 85 and sunny here like it was in Miami last weekend on vacation and I still have sand in my shoe...." Steinberg kills time does a little reporting while he waits for Clinton Portis' appearance on John Thompson's radio show.

We are not "set" at QB. I want to see what JC can do with another year and a better line. Then we can talk about being set.

How come you've gone Audio. Has Larry Craig claimed your stall?

Mmmm. Heyer out of position and the Fabster at ORT? Mr. Campbell? Your insurance agent called to cancel your policy....

Something very interesting just reported on the scout.com site.

JOE GIBBS WAS THINKING ABOUT BENCHING CAMPBELL BEFORE HE GOT HURT.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN OPEN QB COMPETITION HAD GIBBS RETURNED AS COACH.

Is Phillip Daniels on schedule to return next season. We really missed him this year.

Grab some video of the first half of the season. See what campbell can do with a healthy OLine, a healthy RB and a healthy Moss.

Does everyone on this blog have the attention span of a puppy?

hmmm, Reid's question, can this team with the patchwork personnel its left with (but several fringe players who might be good in a few years) put it together and push into the playoffs?

In a word, No.

GEICO is cancelling Candle? Go figure. We may be better off if he gets concussed because Heyer "Can't get left" and whatever clown is on the right will be blitzed like crazy and JC can't get rid of the ball fast enough. He looks like Jim Palmer in his wind-up.

Cork, he was not impressive, Portis carried the team on his now broken back.

No way the Redskins reach the playoffs. Winning even two games might be a severe test.

I just hope Campbell remains healthy for the rest of the season. With these two tackles we may be satisfying some of the desires of some bloggers and see the #2 and #3 quarterbacks play this season. This is the kind of line that can get a quarterback killed.

I disagree with Wilbon 90% of the time, but on the issue of Campbell he is correct.

JC was doing well early in the season when he had time to set his feet (these days, he usually has someone breathing on him before he even finishes dropping back).

It's the line. And I hope they don't trade for some big name OL or pay Colombo or some other FA big $$$ in the off-season. They should just draft two tackles and two guards and bring them in and let them compete for jobs.

If they are going to address anything via free agency, I'd suggest the D-line (DE specifically). I think the interior is OK, but the Redskins are getting no rush from either DE this year.

Jason,
We made it to the playoffs last year with a patched up OL. Why not this year?

I'll tell you why not. Because all of the bad luck is coming at the end of the season and teams are fighting it out to make the playoffs. Oh, and we can't score on a team that has any kind of defense at all.
