The postseason possibilities? Let me guess. It is a video of J.Reid squatting in a stall at Redskins park...

My bad...it is the "audio" of J.Reid squatting in a stall at Redskins Park...

So what gives? Are we letting Shuishy off the hook for sailing that 48-yarder, just b/c he hit one from 43 later in the game?

When's Vinny's Radio Show? I hope the callers make him feel line running and hiding.

Zorn has too much on his plate, maybe he should give up the OC hat. I think he still has much to offer, and another coaching change will put us 5 steps back. Bugel should gracefully retire. But I'm sure the FO will screw things up again somehow.

Can we please get some info as to why CP was on the bench yesterday from a real source ie: portis and or zorn

Posted by: drkeller1 | December 8, 2008 10:38 AM | Report abuse

I will just say that hopefully the loss of Samuels and Jansen and the way the defense got bulled over at the end shows Dan and his raquet ball partner that games are won on the lines. We need better players and more depth on those lines. And why would you have Greisenger active when you could have had Fabini active who plays both guard and tackle, if Rabauch got hurt we could have just used Kendall at center. I like Zorn but the longer the season has gone on I am beginning to question some of his decisions. Bottomline is the Redskins are a good team who can occasionally sneak into the playoffs but won't go to the next step until the FO wakes up and smells the coffee and really understands what this team needs in order to take that step.

Posted by: jayandcat | December 8, 2008 10:38 AM | Report abuse

psp - It's different but the same. You are correct that the Redskins send the most 6-man rushes and those numbers are accurate...

It's different because it's a different person calling the plays. It was more different earlier (Blatche ran mor base sets), but because the offense hasn't been scoring, Blatche has become more aggressive to compensate for our scheme-less offense...

-----------

Also, we shouldn't be talking playoffs right now. We need to win a game 1st. We need to have an offensive scheme to score points.....

I honestly believe that we need a change at QB. Not b/c JC is terrible and is finished here in Washington, but b/c the team needs something to change. They simply are not inspired.

Besides, leaving JC in and unprotected is only going to put an early end to his career. If we were truly comitted to making him our franchise QB then why would he be throwing the ball with :26 left on the clock when he has the worst O-line in all of football.

I just want to see how ANY other QB would handle this same situation. I truly believe it would be better. I really truly do. Unfortunately, the coaching staff will not accept that until yet another season has fallen by the wayside b/c this staff and this team much like the fans on this site have adopted the "pass the buck bow the head and avoid responsibility" mentality that stinks of mediocrity and complacency.

I HATE the Cowboys, but at least Romo was the first to shoulder the blame yesterday. What does Zorn and his players do...EXCUSES...they offer excuses.

The capital hill mentality is clearly corrupting this Washington, DC franchise.

Posted by: Soup17 | December 8, 2008 10:41 AM | Report abuse

I wonder whether Zorn would be willing to keep the OC job and take a step back to some other head coach. Seems like it would be kind of demoralizing ... unless it could be pulled off as something other than an exercise in eating crow.

Also, if Portis feels petulant about being pulled for Betts, then I no longer buy the "Portis being Portis" line ... it would be starting to become like "Shockey being Shockey" or "Plaxico being Plaxico" or "T.O. being T.O." Going into the game, I was thinking they should have played Betts for the first half and Portis for the second (kind of like what the Ravens did at the end with McClain).

Finally, now I realize that I should be careful what I wish for, esp. if Samuels has to come out the same night as Jansen does...

That said, I'm still waiting for psp's answer to my "righting the ship" question, he seems to be conviently ignoring that one...

Posted by: VTDuffman

Already answered that one, two posts back. But anyway, here's the long and short of it.

I'm not the head coach. Zorn is. This is why he gets paid what he does. He's the one that has to figure out what's wrong with his offense, not me.

This offense (personnel-wise) is not one that CAN'T produce. It's one that HASN'T produced under Zorn the last 5 games. He can blame the players "execution" all he wants, but like Eddie Jordan for the Wizards, their performance always starts at the top. As if it's Geisinger's fault that Zorn left him on an island against one of the premeir pass-rushers in the NFL.

As I said, Zorn has time to right the ship. I'm not calling for an instantaneous firing. But if he continues on this pace for the last 3 games, there is nothing that will make me believe that Zorn is the right guy for this offense and this team.

All readskins fans take pride in the Oline, thats been true since the 80's. Skins fans know its about the line and loved our Hogs. This has led to 2 things, a state of denial when we need to replace a vet and a state of panic when the line plays poor.

By the way, for those talking about the "blow it up and rebuild through the draft" approach? As TheCindy how that's working out for the Germ in KC?

Cam Cameron started that approach last year in Miami and what did it get him? 1-15 and a new job.

The Tuna has done a wonderful job getting the Fins competitive this year - mostly through his hiring of a "Bill Jr" in Sparano, but it's a two-year MINIMUM project in that case.

Do any of you guys have the stomach for at least two years of uncompetitive fubbal?

Greg, I didn't have time to read all the comments but I noticed you said something about 9-7 being where people expected you guys to be. I think that's right, but the arc of the season is actually running backwards - that's the problem. Remember last year the Lions got to 6-2 and everyone said "playoffs" - and then their season imploded, and kept going downwards this year. I don't think you guys are the Lions, but if there's just a bit too much denial going on in Ashburn right now, you could become them.

blame goes to personel al around this team. im talking player and coaching and management. the oline, dline and lack of offensive playmakers are the obvious problems, but the coaching problems are just as bad if not worse. I dont know who our wide recievers coach is but he should be gone. Let danny go out and get arizonas WR coach, cuz every reciever they touch turns to gold. I dont want to say fire zorn because that really wont accomplish anything. but something has to change it that regard. The coach and o coordinator have neither called plays ever before and theres a big problem right there. zorns plays and schemes are mindboggling at times and his decisions are awful at others. i agree with whoever said it that punting before the half when we were in bmore territory was retarded. they need a veteran west coast offensive coordinator to come in and help zorn out.

The whole team doesn't need to be blown up and rebuilt, people who are saying that are as silly as those calling to fire the coach and starting our 3rd string QB...

The lines need to be rebuilt, first and foremost. You can't adequately assess *any* other position until those lines are solid.

Posted by: VTDuffman | December 8, 2008 10:55 AM | Report abuse

The capital hill mentality is clearly corrupting this Washington, DC franchise

They say teams take on the identity of their home cities and that's exactly what the Redskins have done in the last 15 years. A lot of turnover, assess blame to the other side(or making excuses) and spinning issues to look more positive than they are. Redskins have become just like our federal government.
No accountability and blame someone else for not doing their job instead at looking directly in the mirror.

In all seriousness, I will never stop watching my Skins but the frustration is that they CAN do better but are not inspired in any way to do so. I believe they have the means with which to win (even though some areas are lacking) but their heads and more importantly, their HEARTS are not in the games. It starts with practice and that absolutely translates to game-day.

No logical argument for rebuttal?

You're the one who wants to fire the 1st year head coach playing a completly different system with his predecessor's personnel because you were naieve enough to believe arguably the worst front office in the NFL when they told you that this team was one or two players from competing for the Division and the Super Bowl...

You didn't present a logical argument to begin with, on what basis are you expecting a logical argument in rebuttal?

Here's another bit of lunacy.

Jim Zorn as HC = Cam Cameron as HC

They are both great guys; a little prone to overanalyzing, and not able to scare the crap out of anyone, let alone the type of guys who play pro football.

Of course it's not only about scaring your team into success, but it IS about them being 'afraid to disappoint you' somehow. Cam had some good schemes, made some good picks (with an okay GM) but lost the locker room long before the end because he couldn't take care of the nasty business that a head coach MUST take care of to be seen as THE leader of the team, not A leader.

Now Cam's just a good offensive coordinator again, no crime in that, it just is who he is. Norv's the same, but for some reason people keeping think he could be more. He must give good interview or something.

sixth: why are you guys talking about draft??????????? do you not know who's picking these players??????? really a f c king moron is picking these players. a f c king monkey would've done a better job the past 10 or so years than this friggin moron! yes, a monkey. a deranged monkey, a monkey with down syndrome monkey!!!! would be better than having VINNY run the draft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The answer is "who knows?"

Until the line is solid, it's impossible to tell.

Greg, I compared the 2008 Skins who are 7-6 to the 2007 Lions, who were 6-2. Again, I don't think it's who you are, but they are who you could become if someone doesn't get a grip over in Ashburn.

The team as an organism is always changing. If it isn't going forwards it's going backwards, because the option to stand still does not exist. I think your front office thought you could mostly stand pat this year and get the job done. Same as the Lions did.

Um, no, RC compared the current Redskins to the 2007 Lions, who started out 6-2 and went on a downward spiral, much like our season has unfolded to this point.

Then he offered this statement:

"I don't think you guys are the Lions, but if there's just a bit too much denial going on in Ashburn right now, you could become them."

But keep on with the denial Greg. This team is moving backwards. Something needs to change.

And IMO, that change has to be either Zorn adjusting his system to fit the team he has and the team he's playing, or Zorn has to go.

Last week it's, "Campbell sucks, put in Collins", this week is "Zorn sucks, get a new HC". These fans remind me of a certain GM who seems to lack the knowledge of putting together a good draft. These fans seem to lack good football knowledge as well. So the season is over even though we have 7 wins and 3 games to go. You need to relax and stop with these crazy rants. You make all the sensible Redskin fans look bad.

I said this after week 1; we haven't drafted a defensive lineman in the 1st round since 1997. We haven't drafted an offensive lineman in the 1st round since 2000. What do you think is going to happen come December and you're playing a top defense? You got it, Campbell has no time to throw the ball and the run game can't get going. On defense the opposing QB has 10 seconds on almost every down to find an open receiver.

No 1st round picks in 03', 06’ and 08'. Don't you think drafting lineman with those picks would help us today? Guess Vinnie and Danny don't. All Zorn can do is play the players that are on his roster. All Campbell can do is throw the ball to the receivers on his team.

I've been watching this team almost every season this decade, give away their draft picks and it's showing today that you need to have depth at every position. Look at what the Giants have done. Vinnie and Danny really need to steal their blueprint on how to build a team. Even if the Skins squeak into the playoffs, these areas need to be addressed ASAP this offseason. Go SKINS!

Rocky went back to the basics and the roots of the sport and regained his focus and fire. I bring this up because the Skins are a circus. Ashburn is a distraction. Go back to Carlisle, live in the dorms, BOND as a team and find the fire and heart we are sorely lacking.

So I have been thinking about the off season options and here is what I think we should see them do.

Cut: a bunch of old guys who can no longer produce if they don't want to sign for cheep try and get close to 30 million in play money. Washington, Springs, Taylor, Doughty... you guys know the list.

Look to trade for some picks: There are some players on this team that we could probably afford to get rid of and maybe get some draft picks for in the end. could we trade Collins, I am sure the Rams would take him for some low picks, I would also put Betts on the block, at this point he is worth more as a trade option if we can get a 2nd or 3rd rounder to me then he is as a no 2 RB which we can draft in the late rounds or pick up via FA.

Use the FA: period to sign a good number of youngish but somewhat proven O and D line guys, guys who became starters or quality backups and are still in their mid 20's

Draft: the Best Available players in the draft again, with a focus on lines LB's and maybe a RB later in the draft.

Use post draft FA: to sign UFA's and more young guys who need to prove themselves.

our d-line is geared to stopping the run and maintain gap integrity.

good thing we dont like freelancers on our team because then someone might actually make a play

"You're the one who wants to fire the 1st year head coach playing a completly different system with his predecessor's personnel because you were naieve enough to believe arguably the worst front office in the NFL when they told you that this team was one or two players from competing for the Division and the Super Bowl..."

No, I'm the one suggesting the POSSIBLE firing of a first-year head coach IF he doesn't get his offense right BECAUSE he has provided little reason to believe he can succeed at this level. He did not inherit a no-talent, weak offensive unit. Don't kid yourself.

And please, cool it with the naivete. I'm not the one naive enough "to believe arguably the worst front office in the NFL" when they told us that a first-year head coach with no experience as a coordinator and on nobody else's radar for even a coordinating position was hands-down the best man for the job. Talk about naivete.

I will declare that my sample of evidence (2 or 3 snaps) is not great data, but what happened with Carter? I kept seeing him stopped at the line of scrimmage or even pushed backwards with ne'er a murmur.

Same for JT, but I'm truly saddened by what's happened to him. What's Carter's excuse, is he injured?

Posted by: Redcoat | December 8, 2008 11:18 AM | Report abuse

And maybe the FO can trade some of the older veterans (Jansen, maybe Samuels? Maybe Andre Carter?) who still have value for draft picks.

Posted by: ga8085 | December 8, 2008 11:13 AM |

None of these guys have value, Jansen could not block my 10 year old daughter. Samuels is old and has had lots of injuries plus his contract is a killer and any team trading for him would have to eat that. Carter can not get anywere near the QB, and you think someone is going to trade for a guy who gets blocked one on one all day and has 1 sack.

As my imperfect memory tells me, we were winning with basically Portis having his best half season in years, which I might add has little to do with the WCO or our fine class of rookie wide receivers. So far this season the WCO has either not been implemented, or has been in existence but because of a stupid draft we have not seen any production from it, or thirdly has been implemented and has found to be a poor fit for this team.

Now as far as fixing the most basic of all concerns, the offensive line, we have not really taken any steps in what should have been the overriding emphasis this off season. I imagine we will have to wait another 2 years or (in Cerrato terms, one more head coach) to find out if the offensive line can be fixed.

Jason,

I honestly think you are right it is player personal. Here is what the redskins got to do in offseason trade players away to get younger ones. Shawn Springs has to go since it seems that he does not want to play. He only comes for the big games. Griffin needs to go also and i trade him also. These two players are 1st and 2nd round draft quality.

Here is the thing that has pissed me off about the redskins for 5 years. They never draft defensive linemen in early rounds. They have need a big time pass rusher for 5 yrs and big defensive tackle for 5 years also. If i were the redskins defensive coordinator i would switch to a 3-4 and draft another young linebacker like a Clint Sintim from UVA. Terrence Cody from Alabama would fill the role of a nose tackle. I would try to get Brain Orakpo from Texas in DE. One of those three would fill needs on the redskins defensive front seven. The redskins need to draft a younger line in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. We also need a damn kicker!!!!!

You are doing Kiwi and Tuck a diservice by comparing them to Carter and Wilson. Plus Tuck weighs 275 and Kiwi weighs 265 thats bigger then Wilson and Carter. One more thing the Giants had a great outside pass rush which menat they could not double the DT's, we do not have any pass rush so they would be demolished if they played DT.

If you have the right guy, then you stick with him. Problem is determining who is the "right guy." IMO, as of right now, Zorn does not look like that guy.

It's everything about it right now. His scheme lacks effectiveness, his scheme looks unfit for this team, his playcalling is predictable, he's very reluctant to make adjustments, his offense has regressed for 5 weeks, his in-game management seems poor, and he's yet to truly hold himself accountable. In short, he looks in over his head.

Now, I hope that he proves me wrong in the next 3 weeks. Truly, I do. I'd love nothing more than to have a great coach locked up for years to come.

First of all we are all fans.
Second of all we live in the moment and speculate on future success based on the moment. Thats what fans do.

At this moment, we cannot score more than 10 points against decent teams(And that was WITH Samuels in the lineup). Even though mathematically we are still alive its really hard to get excited about the rest of the season.

"Shawn Springs has to go since it seems that he does not want to play. He only comes for the big games. Griffin needs to go also and i trade him also. These two players are 1st and 2nd round draft quality. "

No one in their right mind would trade ANY type of pick for either of these players. The salary is too high and they are on the decline physically. Both of these players have a history of being hurt a lot. I wouldnt plan on getting anything VIA trade this offseason.

Vinny will not go until we fan can figure out a way to make snyder dump him.

Posted by: alex35332 | December 8, 2008 11:53 AM | Report abuse

Well here is the reality of the Redskins coaching situation. Jim Zorn is a used car salesman. Even when he is screwing you over, people still think that he's a "good guy". That's basically how he got the job and that's how he is now running the team into the ground.

His offense did not work. Never. He tried his passing offense in 5 preseason games without success. He tried it in season opener against the Giants. Didn't work there either.

Then he kind of realized that all he got is the running game (Joe Gibbs running game by the way with Portis playing his heart out - as Gibbs would say). He took teams by surprise since they prepared for him by watching Seattle Seahawks game tapes probably. He also had the luxury of playing teams like Saints, Cardinals, Lions that doesn't believe in playing defense.

Meanwhile, Blanche continues to keep his unit playing well enough to win games. That combined with Portis hard running and a couple of timely passes to Moss/Cooley led to wins against below average teams.

Zorn was able to hide his passing game deficiencies. The record gave a false sense of confidence. He also had a different approach with the media...in contrast to Gibbs, he actually seems open and want to talk to the media a lot. So they like him.

Even Sally "I hate the Redskins" Jenkins basically said she wanted to have Zorn's babies after like 4 games and pronounced him the greatest thing ever.

Then the reality sets in. Every team figured out that all Zorn has is the running game. They dared him to throw the ball. They started blitzing him like they used to blitz Steve Spurrier. Campbell started looking more and more like Patrick Ramsey...dropping back and not realizing where the pass is going to come from.

In the mean time, Zorn keep saying over and over that the "scheme is perfect" and the flaw is in the execution....well anyone can draw up a scheme that includes Geisenger blocking Suggs one-on-one and dreaming of perfect execution right... if Suggs beat Geisenger and got a sack, it has to be an "execution problem". Or throw a jump pass to the midget "Randle El"...if he doesn't out jump a taller defender like Zorn dreamed it up...it must be an "execution problem".

So where do we stand for next year...

cork/slip, how much did the team bring in through Jersey sales last year?

Posted by: BeantownGreg | December 8, 2008 11:57 AM | Report abuse

So where do we stand for next year...

QB - Collins is pretty much backup for life. No one seriously thinks that Colt is gonna light it up like preseason. Campbell is looking more and more shellshocked and he may have finally suffered the Patrick Ramsey syndrome. So all in all a big question mark.

RB - Portis is a stud and Betts is a capable backup. Provided we can keep Portis healthy

FB - Sellers is it

TE - Cooley is a good player and maybe Davis will eventually learn to set his alarm clock and also learn the offense

WR - Moss is a good reciever provided he's got help so that he's not facing Cover 2 all the time. We are going to have to play Davis/Kelly...at least find out if they can play or not

OL - Samuels is a year older. Jansen is gone. Heyer may just develop into a serviceable OT. Thomas and Kendell are average but at least they hold their own...but they will be even older next year. Rabach is pretty much ready to be replaced. You kind of wonder why they won't spend a 4th or 5th round pick that Ravens spent on Gaither to pick up the kid in supplemental draft...instead they spend it on a player like Tyron or Durant Brooks

DL - Taylor is going to go "dancing with the stars" next year and write a book on "how to earn 8 million dollars to do jumping jacks on the field". To add insult to injury, Parcells will probably draft a player that will be a pro-bowler for the next decade with the pick he got for Taylor. Carter is undersized but at least he plays with heart. Griffin is too old to contribute now. But at least Taylor / Griffin releases should free up money

LB - McKintosh is decent. Fletch is a stud but you kind of hope he can keep playing at this level for another year or two. He's not young anymore. Blades is a capable backup. Washington's release will free up money.

CB - Hall needs to be signed long term to an incentive laded contract. He's a risk but he's the only CB redskins have that can actually catch the ball. They will have to resign Rogers too even with his rock hands. CBs are hard to find in draft/free agency. Springs is gone unless he takes a huge paycut to play FS. Smoot can be a serviceable Nickel CB

Safety - Landry is not Sean Taylor. He never will be. His main strength is playing close to the line. Thats why they got him to play alongside Taylor. But he's doing his best and he's still making his share of plays. Horton is a serviceable SS and can start for Redskins

STeams- Mr.FairCatch Randle El needs to stop returning punts. In fact, they should go out and sign a kick return specialist that can do both KR and PR duties. They need to find a punter...and no NOT IN THE DRAFT this time Vinny. They need competition for SwissCheese legs at Kicker as well.

Coaching wise....hate to say it but might be just best to start over with a new Head Coach and a new QB. 13 games (and 5 preson games) into Zorn's era...there is nothing remotely promising about The Redskins passing game.

Well, that feeds my theory that half the posters on this board actually work for the 'skins, and you have treu inside info. But believe it or not, I THINK The Danny wants to win...(And I freely admit I could be wrong), so I'll still disagree.

I see him as a George Steibnbrenner type. George made his fortune in shipbuilding, and thought that qualified him to be a baseball genius. But eventually he figured it out and hired baseball people and just wrote the checks.

I hold out hope that Danny will "get it" some day soon, too.

I keep preaching it for the same reason preachers preach, to get converts,. Based on what's been posted on the board lately, there have been some serious additions to the flock.

And when the fans know the current GM is clueless, there's hope the Owner will figure it out, too.

Posted by: TheCork | December 8, 2008 11:59 AM | Report abuse

How can JLC state that if Samuels is done for the year the Skins will not win another game this year. Putting Heyer at LT and Fabini at RT cannot be that much of a detriment. Samuels has been playing on one leg and Jansen is done as an every down lineman.

We play the Bungles, an very dangerous Eagles team at home and the now very physical 49ers. I still am not that convinced that this team is done. 5 of the six loses have come to teams with a combined record of 38-14. All those teams are also ranked in the top 5 in defenses.

Those stats seems to get lost in this tailspin. Yes the offense in very disfunctional (Who would of thought we would miss Al Saunders/Joe Gibbs offense). Offense was the major concern coming into the season. The front office did make moves to improve that issue. A rookie WR unless named Boldin or Fitzgerald will not make an impact in this league right away. The Giants are said to have a deep receiving core, but people seem to forget that these receivers have been in the pipeline for years now. Case in point: Steve Smith did not start making an impact until late into his rookie year and Mario Manningham has not really seen the field this year.

The Skins could very well finish 9-7 or 10-6 and still miss the playoffs. Not much more could have been expected with a rookie head coach coming in. I am still proud of my Skins and believe that Danny and Vinny have laid the groundwork for a successful franchise. Two 9 win seasons in a row is a lot better than the Skins have put together since the late 80s/early 90s.

Flunder.

I agree the team could go and win 1 game in 2 years and Danny would still keep Vinny.
Sadly I think one of the best guys we could get for a GM would never do it I dont think. To me Marty Shotinhimmer would be a great WC GM for 5-10 years.

lisa, i am doing (as if me wishing bad on this team would have any affect but for the fun of it i'll pretend it can!!!!) this for you. you deserve better. better than this. i want people like you to be loyal to a product that you deserve. you don't deserve this. you can do better. so demand better. tell danny to fire vinny and remove that larry michael chooch off of the tv.

Lisa - Thanks for the back up, but I actually have season tickets (this is my second season), which will have to be pried out of my cold dead hands before I give them up. I am not dumb enough to think that giving up my tickets will change the way that anyone makes draft or personnel decisions. Guess I also give Danny some slack - he bought the team when he was only a year older than I am now - and ran it like a fan and not like an owner and then like someone just trying to make a buck. With the exception of Vinny, I really think that he has matured in the last few years and is starting to run things the way he should. I would take him over Art Shell, Art Modell (honestly, that guy would move the team to the highest bidder) or Jerry Jones (who decided that Pacman would play on defense and not just special teams yesterday).

I'll be there at the Philly game, pounding my seat with my empty Miller Lite bottle when Philly has the ball - and cheering FOR my team!

JZ Presser in 20 mins.

No need to watch I'll give you the highlights RIGHT NOW:

* The offensive trouble was mainly based on lack of execution on a few key plays.

* BMore has a great defense.

* We had problems AGAIN communicating. I had to yell so he could hear me.

* If we execute the plays properly, we should be fine. Too many offensive penalties.

Posted by: dcsween | December 8, 2008 12:17 PM | Report abuse

I just listened to the unrestricted tape of Jason Reid for the first time ever, and now I know why I haven't listened to it before. First of all, he did NOT "break down the post season possibilities" in any way, shape, or form. That's just false advertising. It would have been nice if he did let the blog readers know the truth, but he didn't so I will.

THIS IS THE TRUTH ABOUT THE REDSKINS: WE ARE STILL VERY MUCH ALIVE IN THE PLAYOFF HUNT, WHETHER YOU WANT TO BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

The Skins WILL beat Cincy next sunday and have a very good chance at winning their remaining games to get to 10-6. And if they do, they will need only 1 loss from Dallas and 1 loss from Atlanta for us to squeak in on the tiebreaker (conference record).

I was the only one on here last year telling you people that we'd win our last 4 games and make the playoffs. Many of you laughed at the notion then and are probably laughing at the notion now.

Beat Cincy, and go from there. This thing aint over yet.

Playoffs? Playoffs? Playoffs? Are you kidding me? This team does not deserve to go to the playoffs. Even if they win out and go to the playoffs do you really think they are good enough to make a run. This is a bad football team period. I just want to thank vinny for failing to draft offenslve linemen. They have no depth and it showed last night. This team is so far away from contending that is the cold hard truth. I am a die hard fan but reality has hit me right in the mouth and, reality tells me this team is awful.

Barno,

I love that you are knowledgeable of the statistical chances of us reaching the playoffs, but I would not put good money on that chance. Our offense, even when healthy has failed to show up in too many games now. With both tackles out we have just lost any chance of having an effective passing game. Our defense has been the one factor giving us a chance to look competitive and how long can that be counted on? Last year Collins was the wildcard that no one knew we had in the hole. I do not see us holding any hole cards now that are worth going all in on.

Or as 70Chip might say, reality for a Skins fan is perception wrapped in a narcissistic ethos.

suzannepdc, growing up in Cleveland, I hate Art Modell as much as the anybody who has ever uttered the name, but somehow, he's a semi-finalist for the HoF ... and in handing over ownership to the next guy, he held the guy's hand for a few seasons to show him how to be an owner ... unlike late JKC (and his estate) who put it up for the highest bidder, which essentially was a non-hostile hostile takeover by a childhood fan ... wrapped in a narcissistic ethos.
