Vick injures his rib on run to the goal line

If the first quarter was a series of bad plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, the second quarter began with some bad news. As the Eagles' kicked a 49-yard field goal and cut the Redskins early lead to 14-3 in the opening seconds of the quarter, Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick walked to the locker room for X-rays.

Vick suffered a rib injury late in the first quarter on a long run to the goal line that was eventually negated due to an offensive holding call. Vick rose to his feet and walked about 20 yards before dropping to a knee. He left the game and was replaced by Kevin Kolb. Vick's return is questionable.

Before his exit, Vick was 5-of-7 passing for 49 yards and a quarterback rating of 90.8. He also had 17 rushing yards on three carries. His best run came with :36 seconds remaining in the quarter and the Eagles facing third-and-six from the Washington 24-yard line. Vick slipped a series of tackles and ran 23 yards before he was tackled just short of the goal line. Guard Max Jean-Gilles was called for holding Albert Haynesworth, though, and the play was called back.

Time for an Eagles turnover!

Posted by: --swb | October 3, 2010 5:19 PM | Report abuse

Need larin shadowing McCoy now. Ridiculous

The eagles have gotta call the most screen passes out of any team in the league. It seems like every time the Skins play them, they run the same stupid screen pass over and over and over.

I just wish the Skins could stop it...

Posted by: --swb | October 3, 2010 5:21 PM | Report abuse

These screens are killing us slowly.

Posted by: MyPostIDisAfake | October 3, 2010 5:21 PM | Report abuse

Need to rattle Kolbs cage... bring some edge pressure and ass plant him once or twice.

Posted by: SkinsfaninKaneohe | October 3, 2010 5:22 PM | Report abuse

Screening the hell out of us. 31 is horrible, next guy cut.

Posted by: Diesel44 | October 3, 2010 5:23 PM | Report abuse

Short passes have killed this defense all year. When will they adjust?

doesn't McCoy make CP26 look awfully slow?

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 3, 2010 5:24 PM | Report abuse

McCoy right knee.

Posted by: SkinsfaninKaneohe | October 3, 2010 5:24 PM | Report abuse

I wouldn't mind if Philadelphia suffers a body bag game. Not at all.

Posted by: beep-beep | October 3, 2010 5:24 PM | Report abuse

Will never understand 3rd and short and only 2 Dlmen on the field.

Posted by: TWISI | October 3, 2010 5:25 PM | Report abuse

RG Artis Hicks is out of the game.
Apparently ill.
Guess Dockery will replace him?

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 3, 2010 5:25 PM | Report abuse

hopefully McCoy is fine but misses the rest of the game. We have no answer for his speed (besides 30).

Posted by: Diesel44 | October 3, 2010 5:26 PM | Report abuse

It's a shame that I have a feeling that the Skins could lose this game.

Posted by: rickyroge | October 3, 2010 5:26 PM | Report abuse

Skins all of a sudden seem to have forgotten how to tackle.

Get it together, guys

Posted by: --swb | October 3, 2010 5:26 PM | Report abuse

Come on goal line stand!

Posted by: MyPostIDisAfake | October 3, 2010 5:30 PM | Report abuse

It's not just his speed Diesel, but dude has some sick moves.

Posted by: Curzon417 | October 3, 2010 5:30 PM | Report abuse

Skins need a play from AH92 on this 4th and goal.
Wouldn't that be great?

"all of a sudden".......seriously?

Posted by: TheDirtySanchez | October 3, 2010 5:31 PM | Report abuse

Vick injured? Oh No. Couldn't have happened to a better sociopath.

I hope he electrocutes himself in the shower for never winning a Super Bowl and for never having heart.

D0uche O Rama.

Vick is a Prick.

Isn't there a rule regarding how long a review can be?
It's obvious it is not an obvious TD!!!

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 3, 2010 5:32 PM | Report abuse

Lamest review ever. If they can't see it on the first glance, it's not there.

Posted by: beep-beep | October 3, 2010 5:33 PM | Report abuse

Yes DirtySanchez, all of a sudden forgetting how to tackle as it relates to this game. The Skins were tackling well and containing for the first 20 minutes of this game

Posted by: --swb | October 3, 2010 5:34 PM | Report abuse

Hey what the hell is with Kareem Moore exchanging pleasantries with that Eagles dude during the review? You gotta stay mean. Come on.

Posted by: fan-o-matic | October 3, 2010 5:34 PM | Report abuse

Delay of Game?
I'm lost, but I'll take it!!!
:)

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 3, 2010 5:35 PM | Report abuse

Delay of game call? Ha ha ha

Posted by: beep-beep | October 3, 2010 5:35 PM | Report abuse

Ha Ha Ha, delay of game. Iggles have to go for three. Come on wind!

Posted by: Curzon417 | October 3, 2010 5:35 PM | Report abuse

Ha!

About time the crap calls go against the Skins opponents.

Booth crew very critical considering that they've got nothing.

Posted by: beep-beep | October 3, 2010 5:38 PM | Report abuse

It must have been a 30 second time out

Eagles SCREWED UP big, so Aikman wants the officials fired.

Posted by: beep-beep | October 3, 2010 5:39 PM | Report abuse

Andy Reid still doesn't understand clock management after all these years.

Posted by: MyPostIDisAfake | October 3, 2010 5:39 PM | Report abuse

Love Perreira (sp?) correcting the ridiculously biased announcing crew.

Pretty clear the refs aren't supposed to wait for the TO-taking team to come back out on the field before starting the play clock.

Posted by: stevie_in_gp | October 3, 2010 5:40 PM | Report abuse

Any of you guys hear Jimmy Johnson in pre-game saying this Redskin team is already showing they are too old??

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 3, 2010 5:41 PM | Report abuse

If not for holding penalties, how many sacks would Okrakpo have this season!!!?????

Posted by: RedskinJim1 | October 3, 2010 5:43 PM | Report abuse

He's not wrong, Ray.

Posted by: stevie_in_gp | October 3, 2010 5:43 PM | Report abuse

That first half was a great birthday present. Thanks Shanahan and Co.

Posted by: swowra | October 3, 2010 5:45 PM | Report abuse

Ok, this is starting to irritate me. Why didn't Shanny start using his TO's when the Eagles had the ball near the goaline? They could of had approximately a minute or so to get into FG range after the Eagles kicked their FG's

Posted by: ga8085 | October 3, 2010 5:46 PM | Report abuse

beep beep

Posted by: Curzon417 | October 3, 2010 5:47 PM | Report abuse

Decent half, should've capitalised on the Armstrong catch though. Why take Clinton out when he's the man from close in to the goal line?

Tackling needs to be better. The 'Skins D would be the greatest CFL D ever, brilliant on three downs!

Troy Aikman+bigger hater than pabrian

Posted by: nflorida1 | October 3, 2010 5:53 PM | Report abuse

Portis playing his best game in 2 years.

As for Buck and Aikman, their anti-Redskin bias is typical of all of the national media. Skins have always been hated by them and that will never change. The only person that ever had nice things to say about them was Madden and that was because he and Gibbs worked together in the 60's with Coryell, as his loving the Hogs.

KEEP RUNNING THE FOOTBALL!!! WTF was that Mcnabb?? Gawd!

Posted by: ga8085 | October 3, 2010 6:03 PM | Report abuse

Typical Vick--running that ball and getting injured and being out 1, 2 or 3 games. Its what happened in ATl and the team went nowhere but down worse year after year. But what could they do..he was the highest paid QB and he was blowing that money with interest in "other" things.

Vick always gets "hype". Does someone pay for this?
In Atl--all you heard was Vick all the time from reporters and NFL--why--he was a lousy player. Went through 3 or more QB coaches cause he only wanted to run the ball and not throw it. The team got nowhere all those years. But everyone said oh what a great QB and he was the highest paid and couldn't get a championship even.

Now Vick comes out in an interview and makes a fool out all those Vick yes people and says while in Atl..he did not practice or work out and no one could tell him nothing and blah blah.. but now he is different.

In my opinion this guy is not different cause he don't have what it takes cause if he did..in his interview he would not have started the good ole blame game which he did so that tells me that Vick don't have the mental stamina to go anywhere.
Any team, after they watch film will beat Vick.

I am just wandering what is wrong with the NFL--they worry more about end zone dances than being able to make an intelligent right and wrong decision.
