Hey, you were on vacation. Now, you're a TV star!

Posted by: League-Source | April 27, 2010 9:48 AM | Report abuse

hey i was wondering about that...how do you go about changing your screenname on this?

Posted by: AhsanFamily | April 27, 2010 9:35 AM

Why would you want to change screennames when you already got "AhsanFamily"? My former screen name was a continual object of ridicule.

The way you change is you log out, then log back in. And when you log back in set up a new identity. You might go with something like "SupermanFamily@SupermanFamily.com". It will give you "SupermanFamily" as your new screen name. Easy as pie. But, you may have to delete cookies from your browser to get the new screen name to display automatically. Mine works fine in Internet Exporer, but is a bit of a bother in Firefox.

For more advice ask Chia_Pet. He posts under about 50 screen names.

Capers at right tackle and Williams at left tackle. I like it.
Posted by: 2ndtierfan | April 27, 2010 6:06 AM | Report abuse

Are you saying that the other 31 NFL teams misjudged Capers? Or maybe they knew he was an immediate NFL starter but simply forgot to take him? However, the Skins knew the other teams would forget all about Capers (West Virginia is kind of hard to find). This meant that the Skins had the luxury of waiting until their third and last pick in the 7th and last round, and stole Capers as their starting right tackle?

I like it too.

++++

I really like them picking up Capers in the 7th like that, but I don't think he's a starter yet. He strikes me as the kind of player that can challenge for the starting spot mid-season.

Erik Cook and Ed Williams should push Rabach this year. I don't see him starting next year.

Injuries change everything though....

Good one! That's the real answer no doubt.

I had thought everyone passed over Capers because WV was so hard to find. I know you go west from VA, as the state's name denotes. However, one time years ago I clearly remember getting to WV from MD, which seems like the wrong direction. That must have confused the scouts, at least a little.

Sorry couldn't help it. I really don't want to discuss politics and we ran the course of a good horror movie topic yesterday so we need some new jibba jabba to get us through. I don't know about that. Rock was cut and JC was pretty much put on notice that his future here would be short so it would behoove him to seek employment elsewhere.

Every sack...oh Trent didn't work hard enough

Every failed 3rd and 1...oh Trent should work harder

Every interception...why didn't Trent hit the weight room

God forbid he gets injured...ya see Trent has no commitment

Then @sshats come up here with new names I've never seen before, posting once a month--no doubt they are RI lurkers--just perpetuating division among Redskin fans!

Everytime I read the comments at the end of each thread mofos be coming out the woodwork: debaitor, vincentc, ar652, arizona4, SammyT1 etc. Who the fucc are these people?

Alan4,

I might have missed it, but i've been tryna get your feelings about the draft.

I know ur favorite line here on RI is "it doesn't matter who plays QB if we don't improve the o-line"

so

How ya think we did? Half our picks were devoted to O-linemen. I was quite pleased. No doubt we improved our QB position AND O-line this offseason. Those two facts have me very optimistic. And I didn't even count our new coach and defensive coordinator.

I wouldn't insult standout special team players.

A football team is made up of three units.

And folks forget that you got to have guttsy guys who'll forsake playing on the offense or defense to chasing down punt returners or busting walls of blockers on kick returns.

Rock may have had his issues, but I don't ever remember him not going all out on special teams.

...But Rock? It's gotta be about the money only, because he kind of slammed the organization during his time and at the end......

....Campbell - It was his only choice to get a chance to start, so I geuss he had to roll with it reluctently (sp?), but I don't know if he'll be the starter at the end of the day.....Is his next season money gaurenteed? Kyle Boller and Gratowski seem to be just as much as favorites as Campbell......

Haven't sounded off on it yet, how is it not a miracle we get anything for Jason Campbell. That guy would have been a free agent next year and teams could have waited for his services.

Getting a 4th rounder for him is nothing short of a brilliance. God Bless him and *good luck* in Oakerland.

The Patriots traded a pro bowl DE in 2009 to the Raiders for a 2011 draft pick. So I'm assuming that if the Raiders are gonna bail you out, you must wait for 2 years to receive the benefit. I can live with that.

If you read an insult in what I said, thats your own baggage dude. I have no problem with special teams guys, I even said they are deserving of their own official roster position with a unique number range. But that does not change the fact that the Cartwright never broke past being a special teams guy, very few do what Brian Mitchell did and make a name for themselves doing that.

Mitchell always seemed to be happy being the great PR/KR man for the team, Rock seemed to hate it consistently commented that he wanted to be contributing more at RB.

"The "fans" are respected around the league, the owner... well thats a different story.
Posted by: skinsfanintampa"

I don't know how you measure fan 'respect' around the League. Back in the first Gibbs era, Washington lived and died with the team; Monday after a loss was always the worst day of the week. Most of that enthusiasm seems to be gone.

For sheer craziness, it's hard to match fans in Buffalo, Green Bay, or Oakland. Bronco fans are devoted beyond reason. But to me, the capital of NFL fandom is Chicago.

Those people are actively psychotic.

Posted by: Samson151 | April 27, 2010 9:46 AM | Report abuse

I think you are confusing fan enthusiasm and fan respect. For instance, when I go to a Bucs game and throw on the Monk or Riggo jersey, Buc fans come up and say nice jersey or I always thought Monk should have been in the HOF years ago. So to a certain extent, from my experience the Skins fans are pretty well respected.

Now try to wear a skins jersey in Philly and not only do you have to watch out for projectile vomit, but also the broke/jobless d-bag ready to start a fight because hey, he has nothing to loose. Clear difference in fan respect from Skins fans to Philly fans.

That being said, I do wish that some of the enthusiasm from RFK and Gibbs 1.0 would come back to life.. I remember going to games with my dad where literally the stadium would be moving because of said enthusiasm (also have been to a few at FedEx where cheering will get you stern looks, and standing is a crime, in club level anyway). When watching the game vs. the Steelers last year (maybe the year before) it was disappointing to see all of the terrible towels waiving around at FedEx. I had to watch the game a the local sports bar with filled with Steelers fans (more than enough here in Tampa) who came up with the nickname "3 Rivers South" for FedEx field. Steelers fan has the enthusiasm, but can we give them a little less respect?

As someone who has watched every one of the Selvish Capers WVU games(albeit with a fuzzy recollection most often) I am happy about this pick, esp where we got him. Capers has only played 3 years on the o-line, as of 2006 he was still seeing limited time at his natural and HS position TE. Mainly due to injuries he was moved to the O-line. Like most Rich Rod recruits he is a proficient run blocker. He has deficiencies in pass protection. His run blocking ability far outweighs his pass blocking deficincies though. In his three years of starting he has blocked for such NFL players as Pat White, Steve Slaton, Owen Schmidt, Deriaus Reynaud, also future a star in Noel Devine. He has been a very productive player for WVU. His senior class is the second winningest class in WV history. He was the feature member of the O-Line his junior and senior seasons playing nearly all snaps.
My assessment form here on out. Selvish right now could be put in the RT spot and run block better then Heyer. he would not pass protect much worse then Heyer. If you can add 20lbs to Capers and teach him to pass protect he can be a good NFL starter.

Now I AM confused. Don't you mean a difference between Tampa fans and Iggles fans?

Philly fans are known far and wide for general assaultiveness. But I'm pretty sure they wouldn't puke on somebody wearing a Bucs jersey with L. Selmon on the back. There's no rivalry.

You are aware that for any of the things you mention here to happen, Rock would've had to have been given significant playing time at running back.

And neither he or Ladell Betts was but for Portis' injuries.

So whereas you have points to make, they can't be made when the guy never had a shot at running back.

And that's his point.

Plus, you really have to wonder about the culture of a team where guys who aren't fit and don't practice get playing time while those who are and do, don't.

It would make anybody whine like Rock did which is why I always liked Ladell Betts' approach to things during his time on the team.

It was obvious a few years ago when Betts get re-upped, he could be a fine running back in the league.

But he was a redskins' practice tackling dummy while Portis chilled on the sidelines.

Ladell kept his mouth shut, practiced hard, and is the kind of guy who'll make a fine coach one day.

And as for Rock, his head will always be hard.
