Dan Snyder and Vinnie Cerrato are the biggest loser combination in the NFL. If they had any pride, any love for the city and the team, they would do the league and the fans a favor and excuse themselves from ever being involved in the NFL in any manner. They are the biggest pair of losers in the league. The Raiders are a better organization. Snyder and Cerrato are solely responsible for this trainwreck.

Zorn is the worst coach in the NFL.

Zorn would have done a lot better if Danny and Vinny, those f*cking knuckleheads, knew how to build a team or if they hired a general manager. Zorn was a rookie head coach who was set up to fail.

doesnt matter if they fire Zorn. Snyder is still at the top of the org chart and that spells failure in any organization.

Hey Dan - you are H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E. You know NOTHING about football and your businesses all suck too (Six Flags, Johnnie Rockets - 2 other orgs that you ruined with your "magical" touch.). Sell this team to someone who cares about the game and the fans and can field a respectible team. You are the WORST OWNER EVER!!

I'm sure Zorn thinks they are getting better.
They are still learning the offense.

Zorn has a bunch of non-players to work with.... very limited on offense. He will lose his job, but unless they do something else w/ the players it doesn't matter who coaches this team.. it may make us feel better, but it's not the right thing to do.

When the Skins brought in the aged, weak O-line they have now, Zorn was set up to fail.

His biggest mistake was failing to say, "Hell no, we can't go into the season with that line."

I thought he was headed in that direction when he yanked Jon Jansen last year and cut him in the offseason.

Posted by: Alan4 | October 11, 2009 4:34 PM | Report abuse

Methinks that Shermin Lewis' eyes suck.

Posted by: sfchil | October 11, 2009 4:35 PM | Report abuse

It is a loss season anyway so why not! Zorn will not know the difference. He will still find the bright side of life in the firing. Let the delusional man go and get on with his flower picking out on the dandelion field. By the way, Vinnie should be totally exposed with the defensive focus in this years draft and free agency. The hiring of Zorn and the choices by Vinnie should all be the owner's fault, but he can't fire himself so it might as well be the coach and EVP. Hail Lord Snyder!

Zorn is not the worst coach in the NFL, he is not good, but not the worst. We could have Steven Hawking calling plays and you still wouldnt have a good team. I HATE to say this but Jimmy Johnson was right, the problems are institutional. Its not just Zorn. Its not Just Campbell, its not just the line. Its the owner, its the GM, it is institutional.

Yes, because at this point he's dead man walking whether or not he's a good coach.

BUT FOR GOD'S SAKE FIRE VINNY FIRST, SO WE CAN ACTUALLY GET A GOOD COACH INTERESTED IN THE POSITION!!!

I am so sick of watching Jason Campbell give us NOTHING at the Qb position. NOTHING! It won't matter how many coaches they bring in, how many extra pair of eyes, the bottom line is he is not MENTALLY capable of playing the position. He scored a 14 on his wonderlic test which means he can barely READ the test let alone score well on it. He is dumber than a box of rocks. I don't think it is a newsflash when I say MORONS don't make good starting QB's

I've seen this before. We have a coach who is not qualified to be a head coach. He is made the coach...by the owner. While the defensive coach is obviously a better candidate.

Spurrier and Lewis. Remember that? The mere fact that you would put Spurrier ahead of Lewis was telling. It tells us that whoever is in charge of hiring coaches is an idiot. In hindsight, can anyone say Spurrier was a good choice??? Heck no! You can state, unequivocally, that was the dumbest move in sports that year.

Well, fast forward a few years and here we are again. The guy who should be made coach is Blache. Plain and Simple. The players respect him - he's been a pro coach for a good while. Zorn should be in PR, not head coaching.

I hope that bringing in Sherman was laying the groundwork for this. If Zorn is here after the bye, Dan Snyder is a blatant idiot.

SHERM already has put a stamp on this offense with the 4 or 5 Slants that were thrown today... Just a really bad bad bad line.

Players make or DON'T make plays.
ORAKPO - Offsides turns into 2 pts
BATISTE - Illegal Procedure - Negates a all important 1st down
DHALL - Doesn't hit Stewart prior to his 2nd effort on the first conversion, and tries to arm tackle a "statue of a QB" that ends the game

Where is Campbell in that mix??? No where.

Kman,

That's insane. Todd Collins is a statue. He can not move around like JC 17 with this crap of an Oline. DID Jason drop the bomb that landed in Devin Thomas's hands? Did the punt muff hit Campbell's foot?
Answer those questions and then tell me Collins would have won the game.

I disagree kman - don't see what an old/imobile Todd Collins would do for us. You are assuming that receivers are open and JC simply isn't hitting them. I'm not convinced that's what's happening though - would be nice if we could get some detailed assessments of what's happening downfield that they don't show on TV.

Posted by: OldManGibbs | October 11, 2009 4:51 PM | Report abuse

Give me a break! You hire a coach for one system... then you pick players that fit a completely different system... the problem is the owner and the GM... wait, we don't have a GM... that's the problem!

I don't see how firing Zorn does anything other than alleviate, for a week, fans' frustration.

Limp through the season, clean house and start at square one for next year.

Problem one: they need an entirely new offense. QB, line, WRs. Okay, Cooley stays but where was he today?

He was led into the desert known as Ashburn by Danny boy and Vinny and they cut his throat and the blood has been slowly spewing out since the bye week of 2008. This is a real shame. Zorn is a scapegoat.

The Redskins have a delusional (but personable) head coach, and a mentally deficient (but personable) bumpkin playing QB.

Get rid of them both and let them go be personable somewhere else, and at someone else's expense.

5 games, 4 of them against the dregs of the league, and this team is 2-3 and still hasn't broken the 20 point barrier.

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | October 11, 2009 4:53 PM | Report abuse

...would anyone now debate that Vinnie is the worst GM and evaluator of talent in the entire NFL? When you have the worst front office, it only figures that your QB will then suck, your OLine will then suck, and this makes the rest of your offense and defense eventually suspect and leads to mediocrity. The whole Snyder era has become a joke. I mean when the talking empty heads in the pregame and halftime network shows finally figure it out and start spouting off about how disfunctional your front office is...its way too late.

For me, its been over 35 year rooting for and supporting the Skins, but not a day or penny more. I honestly dont understand how anybody with any self respect would work for Danny...no matter what he pays, how can it be worth it?

The secret to a great offense and points is a good offensive line. I have grown to really appreciate offensive linemen. They are the silent, under-appreciated beasts. They are the reason Peyton has started every game. They are the reason why New England won 3 Super Bowls this decade.

Nothing else matters with this offensive line. You can hire/fire anyone you want, until you get that right this is going to be the norm.

Posted by: themantoyou | October 11, 2009 4:57 PM | Report abuse

My problems with Zorn are many, but my biggest issue is that he doesn't understand what our identity is. We've got a good defense and poor offense. That means you play conservatively. Long field goal or punt? Punt. Decline the penalty or accept? Decline. Go for it on fourth down or punt? Punt. It's not exciting, but if we do those things and we're 4-1, not 2-3. At least 3-2. We're more like the Ravens Superbowl team from a few years ago than the Rams SB team a few years ago. He isn't coaching to the strength of the team, he's undermining it. He's a riverboat gambler without the cards. That is the problem. Cerrato dealt the hand of course, but that's a whole other ball of wax. If the issue is fire Jim Zorn or not, count me in the fire-him-constituency.

Posted by: brianearman | October 11, 2009 4:57 PM | Report abuse

Skins up by 15 in 3rd quarter. Defense just wore down. Terrible play by Cerrato to let that punt hit him on the leg. Very bad defense by Campbell to let the Panthers score so easily to take the lead. Snyder should have knocked down that successfull 2 point conversion (whats wrong with him?) Zorn should have leveled Delhomme on that roll out, doesn't he know how to tackle? Or is it that the majority of these so called expert bloggers just don't know football. Redskins plus 3.5 sent me to the cashier's window.

What kind of a poll is that? It's not a question of whether Zorn should be fired, it's a matter of how many other people should be fired with him.

Posted by: pokerfaceI208 | October 11, 2009 4:57 PM | Report abuse

Problem with the Redskins are:
Zorn is the Mental equivalent of Jason Campbell. Sellers is NOT blocking for Portis now, the TV News team was showing plays where Sellers was SLACKING through out the whole game. Snyder gave you a contract extension?
HE should give you 1 week to cleanup your act or be FIRED...
Did Cooley catch a pass today? JC did have time to throw; but these 5 ft receivers are
really a weakness not an asset, plus they drop the ball MORE times then they catch it. The Redskins could have hired T.O. and another quality over 6ft receiver.

Posted by: digtldesk | October 11, 2009 4:58 PM | Report abuse

Batiste being the best player behind Samuels is not Zorn's fault. Maybe if we were more than 1 player deep at each position we would dominate teams we should.

Instead of a fire Zorn or Cerrato poll, the post needs to generate a damn "Should the whole f-ing Washington Redskins team should be fired now?"

No.

But is there a plan that makes sense to replace Zorn that would make this team better?
I doubt it.

Zorn doesn't play OL and the lack of an OL was the #1 factor in the loss today.

I hate to keep reminding all you rocket surgeons about this but it bears repeating:

FIRING ZORN IS NOT THE ANSWER!!!

And because the team is SO disfunctional management-wise, no head cioach worth a damn will take the job.

Posted by: TheCork | October 11, 2009 5:00 PM | Report abuse

The reason why Ben Roethlisberger was able to become a successful QB after Tommy Maddox got injured is because he was protected behind a solid offensive line. Now obviously Maddox's skills deteriorated, but a big contributing factor to the smooth transition to a rookie QB (I might add) was because of solid protection.

JC had no protection whatsoever. I wish I could be hired as GM simply so I could draft and trade O-Linemen and also dip into the free agent market for O-Linemen.

We couldn't have done any worse.

The offense only scored when the D gave them turnovers and placed them near the goal line.

The Redskins must play the BEST secondary every week, because no one is ever open, right?

The reason Cooley didn't catch anything today is because Campbell won't throw to anyone if there's a defender within 6 feet of them. Collins will actually try and make a play; Campbell prefers to play it safe and keep his numbers looking medicore.

Someone - maybe Gibbs, I don't know - gave Campbell a severe phobia about throwing INTs, and it's crippling him.

So would you or me. But that doesn't mean a winning record. And neither does Billick. Unhired coaches are like backup quarterbacks. Optimists always assume they are the answer.

I get, agree and understand the ultimate futility of firing corny zorny......but i'd be lying if i said i wouldn't welcome it. Dude is a silly fool. He almost makes every wrong in game decision and the tem plays soft for him. You can play hard and still not be that good, and i'd rather watch a hard working team lose 10+ games....

Don't just stop with the coach, players lose games. Today a typical example.

Posted by: MHEDRLT | October 11, 2009 5:13 PM | Report abuse

Redskin fans are loyal but not stupid. Zorn is not the problem. Campbell is not the problem. So what is the problem? Ask any one around here and the overwhelming response is ..........SNYDER! I always hated Jimmy Johnson and now I even hate the man even more. The last game he coached the Fins lost to the Jags in a blow out. Right now is the right time to be a Skins fan. 1991 seems like a long time ago. Snyder, Al Davis and Jerry Jones make up the worst owners in professional football, bar none. All these years of losing when will it ever end? Maybe when Snyder croaks?

Posted by: Redskin4Life1 | October 11, 2009 5:14 PM | Report abuse

Before anyone starts comparing this defense to the Ravens please, get a grip. It's not like this defense has been facing really good teams yet, except for the Giants. And if you remember the pre-season you should also remember that the teams they did face, like the Ravens, pretty much man-handled the starting D.

I figured this defense to be somewhere between 15'th and 20'th this year. So far they are right on track. And that range is nowhere good enough to have a conservative, let alone truly bad, offense.

While Zorn doesn't appear to be an above average coach, Snyder and Cerrato are the problems. Unless Snyder is willing to step out of the way and stop running this team as a fantasy team they will continue to be mired in mediocrity. Dan Snyder is one of the worst owners in all of professional sports. As Sally Jenkins said, he is truly a toxic manager.

And, Vinny is certainly the worst GM or whatever he is. Knee jerk trades of high draft choices for Duckett, Taylor, etc. Using three #2's for Davis, Kelly, and Thomas instead of rebuilding the OL. What a joke. Vinny has no idea how to build a team. He and Snyder together are like a couple of keystone cops.

hey Gang....Well....ya know, I'm listening to Jerry Gray talk about "leaders" in the locker room...Much as I love a guy like Doc Walker, his accolades for oh, say, "Caveman",the "Beast" Mike Sellers-when he's talking him up on air-well, he sure ain't shown me much on the field lately. Not to single out Mike, but we give a lot of our players WAY too much credit individually, only to see 'em come up small time and time again on the field. We're the parents who scream at our kids for screwing up and then when they start to cry-hug 'em and tell 'em we love 'em. PLEASE...all these "we gotta try harder,,,,we got heart,,,,we'll stick together...." and all the other platitudes. I'm. done.with. it.
Fact is, we are stuck with an owner who is gonna be here a LONG time. He is an entrepreneur who will MILK this/us til we stop giving him our hard earned money. When WE stop accepting his narcissistic handling of OUR team....well, maybe then we will see change,,,,have a hope of something more than mediocrity at best and utter contempt for the fans of this team at worst.
...Once again, I'm too steamed to write or think in a coherent way,,,,but really...this is just pitiful. And nothing personal, Al Goldy-but at least in years past after another miserable performance we had Joe Jacoby or Riggo and Andy P to listen to. Frank Herzog, too, for that matter. But Dan owns the station now. I'm trying to refrain from ad hominen attacks.....but this is just sad. And how many commercials can they squeeze in on TV?
The end of the (human) world is near-and our Redskins epitomize what is wrong in the world at large.Hubris, stupidity, pride, greed, false humility,,,,on and on and on.
At this point, as I see it, all we can hope for is to have the Ghosts of Football Past, Present and Future pay a visit to Mr Snidley-er and, as happened with Scrooge and his famous visit with the Christmas ghosts-that he see what the TRUE MEANING of the Redskins in this town...and adjust his actions accordingly....
Now Andre Carter is on Comcast talking about heart and how good the guys are and fighting through ....now, for something NEW and INSIGHTFUL...
Go Skins....
p.s.-sorry, Mr Snyder about that "snide', ad hominen bit....and B. Mitch-we LOVE ya', bro!

When Rush Limbaugh made his comments about Donovan McNnabb everyone went crazy, yet do his comments ring true to some extent? I point out the Jason Campbell experience. Here we have a QB that has done absolutely NOTHING in 5 years. Sure he can dink and dunk the ball and pad his completion percentage but when it comes to playing the position he has given us NOTHING. Through all this he has been immune to criticism from the media. We are constantly told about the myriad of systems he has been in(they don't point out that he can't play in any of them). We are constantly told that the offensive line is terrible(they never mention that Todd Collins, a career backup came in when Campbell was hurt and played just fine behind them)
Because we live in such a politically correct society it seems like everyone is scared of criticizing Campbell, afraid they are going to be branded with the dreaded "R" word. Look around the league, Derek Anderson had a phenomenal year a couple of years ago and went to the pro bowl(something Campbell has never done) yet they had no problem yanking him when he was ineffective, we were not subjected to endless counts of how many systems he has been in the last few years. We have never heard about how bad his line is, i.e. people are not afraid to critize him because they don't have to be worried about being branded a racist. With Campbell we see the exact opposite, no matter how bad he plays the media sticks their head in the sand and trots out the same excuses and apologies week in and week out. So far nobody has the courage to take on that lightning rod, criticizing an African American QB.

We should be voting on whether we should fire Cerrato or let the owner go.

When team had meetings in the off season, the O-line was identified as the major problem on offense. So what does the team do, it spends most of the off season trying to get rid of Campbell and beefing up the defense.

Campbell barely had enough time to tie his shoes the last half of last year when he dropped back. He was sacked 5 times today and you say Campbell is the one that sucks. Who put this O-line together?

Who was it that drafted three pass catchers in the second round last year? They still don't have as many catches all together that Art Monk had in his rookie year.

72Redskins - you have the most intelligent post here. JC is not the issue - he actually played pretty well today given the inept-ness of his O Line. I don't care if Vince Lombardi was coaching and Joe Montana was the QB - this team cannot win without skill in the trenches. Right now we have backups starting on the O Line. If you put JC and Portis behind a good O Line, both would be in the running for the Pro Bowl.

All of us loyal fans should stop buying tickets to games, stop buying skins merchandise, stop doing anything that is contributing to Danny's bank account and then maybe Danny will get a clue and get a Bill Polian to come in and run this show. Otherwise we're going to be reading and writing the same posts for the next decade.

Dan Snyder ought to have a press conference tomorrow and say that he is firing his "other set of eyes" and giving Jim Zorn a vote of confidence. He ought to say Zorn is my coach and he will be my coach for at least the length of his current contract.

He should also say that Campbell is the franchise quarterback. The only way he will not be my quarterback is if the head coach comes to me and says I think we can do better.

If he can't do this, then ought to ask himself, "Why is it that no head coach I have ever had has not been truly successful in my organization?" If he gets up in the morning and looks in the mirror, he will find his answer.

I wish you guys will tell the whole story. Collins is a career back up. There is a reason. He is not good. We beat one team with a winning record when we went on the streak 2 years ago. Clinton averaged over a hundred yards a game during that streak. He lost in the playoffs. How many bombs do you think Collins can complete. He is a dink and dunk quarter back too, without the threat to go deep.

CLEGG are you actually Campbell's agent?

Yes there are other problems, but Campbell is a back-up QB at best!

Notice how over the last 3 seasons, Vikins were no.1 in rushing the ball and stopping the run. So a great offensive line, but an average team. Basically, their QB was killing them.

A QB makes or breaks a team. We have one who is not able to make plays for us.

I'm not comparing us to the Ravens. We definitely are not that good or dominate. I'm just saying that we win 17-10. Which means you have to give the defense every chance to succeed. You punt unless it's a field goal within 40 yards. You don't go for it on fourth down. You don't give the opposing team who hasn't been moving the ball all game, the ball at the 40 yard line. Zorn does this ish at LEAST once a game. And it ALWAYS blows up in our face.

Shannahan wants no part of us...we can't find a Head Coach willing to step in. We are in exactly the same place we were in last season except now we are much, much worse as a team!

I am praying for a strike next season. I would love love to see a strike and/or this team sold to any other city. WE ARE A ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A FRANCHISE!!! I have followed this team for years, but I must say that only Washington, DC could destroy something so quickly and in such a horrific fashion.

I would honestly prefer to see any one of you bloggers wearing the headset, sitting as GM or owning this Team. At least we care! At least we want to win. I no longer believe that anyone else within the front offices of this franchise feel the same way.

Instead of of drafting so many pass catchers in the second round last year, he could have used at least one those draft picks on a young offensive lineman. But I guess we can blame Zorn for that.

Posted by: cannontl | October 11, 2009 5:56 PM | Report abuse

crazyhorse, Campbell being a black QB had nothing to do with losing this game. It was him failing to tackle Delhomme on that roll out. Campbell gets lots of criticism. You're showing your ignorance.

Posted by: VegasJim | October 11, 2009 5:56 PM | Report abuse

Yeah, must be Campbell's fault.

I mean, it CAN'T be the O Line, right?

I mean, they've got D'Anthony Batiste and Biggest Loser Williams instead of Samuels and Thomas.... And we were MAYBE average with the two of them.

And Campbell goes 17 of 23 with one of those a perfectly thrown bomb dropped by Cerrato-Killer Thomas.

And the Defense - way to hold em at the end. Please.

Maybe if Campbell was returning punts, I'd agree with you.

Firing Zorn would just prolong the Redskins' woes. The previous three head coaches did no better.

* As long as Snyder owns the team it will never reach the Super Bowl. An NFL city-by-city poll places him at the bottom of owners. Incompetent, greedy, unlikeable, publicly obnoxious.

* Neither he or his clueless "buddy" Vinnie have the abilities needed to build and maintain a winning franchise. They are not genuine football people. Poor player scouting and selection are THEIR faults, not Zorn's.

* At present, the team has no players of championship caliber, with the possible exceptions of Cooley, DeAngelo Hall, and Orakpo. Former quality players like Chris Samuels and Portis are beat-up and fading. During the Snyder "era," most draft choices and free agents have not panned out and will never produce.

Dear Mr. Snyder,
I have been a Redskin fan all my life and have had blinders on for about the last 10 years thinking great things were to come. I would never even think about changing how I feel about the Redskins but boy have you ruined this franchise. If you are happy with people like me rooting for the laughing stock in not just football but pro sports than I applaud you. I never thought I would be embarrassed to root for such a great franchise. I am tired as a fan of making excuses for every decision that is made thinking that is all we need to make the next step. If you were really a fan like you said you were when you got this franchise I hope you realize things have not been done well at all. Drink the kool-aide and do something about this NOW. FIRE VINNY and ZORN and start from scratch. I have faith things will turn around but I just hope a loyal Redskin fan like me will be here to see it before I am 6 feet under.

What other NFL team is constructed where a couple of injuries happen on their offensive line and they then CAN'T EVEN ATTEMPT to run an NFL offense? As if it was unforseeable that Samuels and Thomas would be injured at some point???? Ridiculous.

We've had the model GM - Bobby Beathard. Hires the right talent to balance the team and stays out of the way otherwise! What a brilliant idea! Imagine that DANNY - leaving personnel decisions to someone who, I don't know, HAS A CLUE!

At least during the Otto Graham years, the losing Redskins were fun (a blast, actually!). Now, they're just sad.

DANNY TWIT -- move on, railroads are immensely more interesting -- think Andrew Carnegie. Endowing libraries - yeah that's a good thing. Hell, wasting your millions in Vegas to the benefit of Bally's and Trump would be a humanitarian gain over what you are doing to this town.

Is it Zorn's fault that a stupid defenseman lines up off sides, which as a result ended up in a safety? Is it Zorn's fault that a defenseman allows himself to be pushed into a punt returner? Is it Zorn's fault that the defense can't tackle?
Is it Zorn/s fault that the secondary allows Little Sisters of the Poor always be 20 yards open? I don't blame Zorn for everything. Blache and his defense coaches deserve most of the blame, along with the owner and upper management. Campbell doesn't stink cooley had to stay in to protect w/batiste because fred davis can't block! he runs routes short of 1st down on crucial 3rd downs. campbell is a victim of two weak route running 2nd yr receivers who are inconsistent at best and can't catch under pressure...if he was missing OPEN receivers today the commentary and film would have shown it. opposing Defenses sit on Santana usually doubled and randle el...cooley a TE is not always there to receive and today he was more valuable as a blocker just like portis does. the reason cp gets his plays is because he is a complete and tough back yes he is getting older but mason can't block and helped jc get sacked twice! If u honestly think todd collins is the answer you r all stupid he super slow and would have starred in someone's WCO by now in his long career. jc just needs a better line so he won't have to worry about getting blown up on every play esp the play action where he is blind. Posted by: VegasJim | October 11, 2009 6:52 PM | Report abuse

If you have been a skins fan since Snyder took over, then you know the game isn't over until it is over. We all know the organization needs to be overhauled. That being said, these guys get paid good money to do the jobs they do. Albert Haynesworth has not earned $100 million yet. Portis runs like a girl. The first defensive line- man that hits him he falls down. Why is Rock Cartwright on the sideline? He runs hard and hits the whole well. The O-line is fine. JC need to let the ball go. You can't hold the ball forever.

Also, Zorn need to call better plays. I knew we would lose the game once we hit 17 points. That's our limit. It is time to be creative on offense. Portis left and Portis right isn't going to cut it any more. Why wait til the end of the game to go no huddle or pick up the pace? Change the game from the onset. Teams will not expect the skins to go no huddle. Peyton is good because he can read a defense. He has his offense ready to go while the defense is still chanding players. Until JC learns to read his opponents, we the fans will suffer. Until this team want to win as a team, we the fans will suffer.

Oh yeah, Getting rid of "Sniper" Snyder wouldn't hurt either.

Posted by: afgotrei | October 11, 2009 6:52 PM | Report abuse

Campbell goes for 17/23 means he wasn't going for it. Just about every throw was inside the 1st down line. Zorn is to blame. He calls the plays. On 4th and 3 they use the same play they called like 5 times already. The last time Moss was mugged by their corner. I knew they'd call it. So predictable. Of course Carolina knew. Sherman Lewis should get back on a plane and call bingo. This is bad for one's sanity.

Cooley did not catch a pass today because they had to keep him in to block due to the injury to Samuels. Thus, one of our major offensive contributors was taken out of the game due to out lack of depth on the O-line. Who responsible for the depth on our offensive line. Of course, some probably think Cooley ought to be fired because he did not catch a pass (or Zorn and Campbell should be fired because they did not win the game).

That left one of our other TE's to catch a few passes - Fred Davis - the most of his career. It is too bad they had little effect on the game. Davis is not known for his blocking. That apparently is why Cooley had to do it. Who drafted Fred Davis anyway?

Heyer - - 40 whacks for impersonating an NFL player

Add all those cane whacks up and the owner should take them all. He is an incompetent meddler and Vinny Cerrato is just collecting a paycheck to be his friend and help run this team into the ground!!! The offensive line is an embarrassment and Joe Bugel should resign based on the fact they gave him nothing to work with. You can't just get guys off the street to play this game or get a consultant who was playing bingo in a retirment home to run this sorry team or a guy who was 400 pounds out of football for over a year and expect him to start!! I am waiting for Snyder to take responsibility for this garbage but since he wont, fans should just stop going to the games until this owner gets the message. Its a shame Zorn is geting castigated because he has potential, but even if you had Mike Shannahan here, you would have the same results. No coach should take this job unless he has a GM to run this team, no Vinny or Dan meddling or he has the right to sue them like the Redskins sue their fans... Marty had the right idea when he took this job and was molding something. Snyder ruined it when he brought a college coach to fleece him for 10 million. Joe Gibbs had already done something great for this city and he took it upon himself to restore some credibility. He did that but its evaporated quickly...I bet Mr. Cooke realizes he made a mistake and should have left the team to his son instead of this jerk...

Then Gibbs said there would be an open compittion for the QB spot in training camp???

But then he got into an argument with Snyderatto on that very topic and decided to retire for good??????

YOu think a former HoF coach knows a bit more than Snyderatto and stupid Campbell supporters in this room??????

Think just MAYBE putting in Collins to throw passes DOWNFIELD might put the Skins in a better position to SCORE TD's??????

I really don't understand why Zorn wont bench Campbell, Portis, and Randle el. I see now that if he is still sticking with Randle el as a punt returner, there is no way in god's green earth that he will bench Campbell and go to Collins.

Either way, why not have the balls to at least make a lineup change and see if it helps. I mean, in baseball, you dont just allow a pitcher to get hammered inning after inning just because you dont want them to lose confidence.

Basically, he needs to have the balls to talk to Campbell, Portis and Randle el, and let them know that he is doing this to try and shake up the team. Nothing personal. If they dont like it, the hell with them.

Either way, I certainly would not lose my job by sticking with the same players. This is his only and last chance at a HC job. Why not give it all you have?

And I understand that the O-line didnt give Campbell alot of time in the pocket, but neither did Delhomme. He sucks, yet he still was able to put TD drives together.

You all are a bunch of little crying babies. Suck it up! All you want to do is let the Witch hunt begin. So glad I'm not a Skins fan.

Where is the FIRE VINNY AND DAN POLL?!?!

"has heard from several people close to the former Denver Broncos coach who say that he has no interest in having Cerrato be the architect of his team."

d@mn straight!

The thread running thru all the frustrating seasons connects to Danny and Vinnie. Fire them both AND ZORN!

Wow the word on the street is if you need a win just play the Deadskins ...poor Jack ...100 million dollar man we could have bought a great offense for that much people like Jon Jansen are laughing as they should maybe this is why the Native Americans are upset with the Redskins name ...in their honor of protest I officially call them the Washington Deadskins ..... use some of that energy thatyou all use in practice to beat one another up in a game so you can win !!

The Redskins are a mess. First, they have Dan Snyder wanting to be the GM. They have a GM that lets the owner runs the show. They have a head coach that wants to be the QB coach, Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach at the same time, yet has no past success as a coach. Their most successful QB over the past 5 years is their backup QB who never plays, and they have no offensive line. They have well known names on the offensive line but they are not getting the job done. And worse but not least, all Redskin fans and media think that the team is better than they really are. Wake up Redskin fans - this team has to unify together to win because they are low on talent. By the way, Dan can fire Zorn but who wants to be the Head Coach? That's why he became the Head Coach to begin with - whoever said earlier that Zorn was doomed to fail was right on the money. Dan was an idiot for not following through on what Joe Gibbs started and should have hired Greg Williams or Al Saunders to be head coach and let them do their jobs.

P.S. Redskins would be defending NFL champions today if they stuck with Marty Schottenheimer.

Have a poll with the question: Should Dan Snyder sell the Redskins? And it would be 100 percent YES! Synder is the real problem.

1.) Campbell has one of the top QB ratings in the league. If that doesn't mean anything then why do his immediate peers have winning records?

2.) If.......If Thomas catches that long bomb that hit him right in his hands it's overtime at the least.

3.) If.......If Davis runs his route 2 yards deeper we sustain a drive that would've broke Carolina's back.

4.) If......If Byron Westbrook, who we only keep around so he can mimic his brother in practice, which never works, was paying attention fumble never happens.

5.) We have the OLDEST starting O-line in football. OLD is only good for WINE.

6.) D-Hall, you can't tackle Jake Delhomme? Not Vince Young, Romo, Vick, or McNabb, but Jake Delhomme.

7.) How does Blache avoid criticism from week to week?

8.)Why isn't Cerrato Director of Food and Beverage or Minister of Keeping Ice Cold?

9.)If prayer works, LET US PRAY THAT SNYDER AND CERRATO DIE IN A FIERY CRASH AND THE TEAM IS BOUGHT BY ROBERT KRAFT!!

Posted by: ApostleOfJudas | October 11, 2009 10:58 PM | Report abuse

Cont.) HOW DOES OUR O-LINE GIVE UP 10 MORE HITS AND HURRIES THAN CAROLINA AND SOMEHOW PEOPLE WANT AN IMMOBILE, NEAR-40, CAREER BACKUP TO BE OUR STARTER?

Snyder and Cerrato are half the problem and IDIOT FANS are the other half!!

Make that 3/4 to 1/4

Posted by: ApostleOfJudas | October 11, 2009 11:08 PM | Report abuse

Somebody needs to fire DeAngelo Hall...never seen a professional more afraid to tackle...even worse than a girl...he's soooo weak.

The biggest problem for the Redskins has been the inability of the front office to evaluate its own talent. For the last 5 or 6 years they have been operating under the assumption that they were a piece or two away from competing for a Super Bowl. This assumption was completely wrong, the two playoff seasons under Gibbs were aberrations, due to great coaching and perfect situations, not a reflection of the "core" talent on this team. So for the last 5 or 6 years the Redskins have ignored roster building and have been chasing that missing piece that was going to put them over the top. They ignored the two most important positions Offensive and Defensive lines. On the offensive line only Dockery is an NFL starter, Randy Thomas is three years past his prime and brittle too boot. Samuels, who has always been overrated is a step slower these days and does not run or pass block very well. Rabach plays on roller-skates, he gets blown up week in and week out. Heyer is what he is, a backup. On the Defensive line only Haynsworth is a NFL starter, Carter is a 3rd down rush end, Daniels is 5 years past his prime, Griffin is a one dimensional player who is brittle as well.
The positives are with Jarmon and Orakpo the Skins might have two future starters, that is if the front office sees what all 31 teams out there see. That Brian Orakpo is a DE, asking him to play LB is insane and once again the front office seems to be out there trying to prove they are smarter than everyone else in the league. I hate to inform you Snyderatto, Matt Millin did a better job as a GM than you two clowns.

The front office: They are who we thought they were!

The o-line: They are who we thought they were!

The draft picks: They are who we thought they were!

Playoffs? Playoffs?!? You wanna talk about playoffs?!?!

LMAO!

1 fool = A set of Season tix

A set of Season tix = $5000

Haynesworth = 20000 fools
Hall = 8000 fools
Coach Zorn = 1200 fools

Nobody in Ashburn is a fool, especially if you do the math...the fools are in the stadium.

Zorn did not lose today's game---neither did Campbell.

The offensive line did: that's on Cerrato.

Get him out of there!

Posted by: watchingfromasia | October 12, 2009 5:38 AM | Report abuse

Firing the coach won't fix the the O line, speed up the aging backfield or improve D. Hall's tackling ability.

Posted by: builder701 | October 12, 2009 7:25 AM | Report abuse

I thought Snyder didn't believe in charity cases, in that case he needs to fire Vinnie who would never work in the NFL again.

Posted by: clintolive2 | October 12, 2009 8:01 AM | Report abuse

It wouldn't matter if Snyder fires Zorn, because no legitimate coach will want to come to Washington to play for Snyder unless he has a huge debt to pay off and just needs the money.

The front office of this team is a joke and has thrown away this teams future for a present that is pretty bad at best; great use of draft pics and signings there Skins!

Matt Millen is available, I hear.

Posted by: Pangraz | October 12, 2009 8:33 AM | Report abuse

Zorn is one of the least effective NFL head coaches I've ever seen. However, as long as Snyder and Cerrato are making the football decisions this team is going to suck. Oh, every once in a while they'll get into the playoffs, but the long-term trend is major suckage.

Posted by: kemp13 | October 12, 2009 8:51 AM | Report abuse

I read alot of these post, and I agree with everyone who said getting rid of Synder is not a option. He owns the team, and thats it. If he wants to run it into the ground , he can. Nothing anybody can do about it. We can whine, wear bags on our heads, whatever you can think of. But Synder is not going to sell the team, ever! Only way is to stop going to games. I have season tickets, but I cant just throw them away. I would sell them, and someone would buy them. Synder bought this team for 800 million dollars, now its worth 1.6 billion. Hes doubled his money in 10 years with losing teams. Why would he sell? Hes a business man, and a very good one. Thats were he got the money to buy this team in the first place.

As far as Zorn, there are lots of reasons he should be fired now. But if you fire him now, no one good is coming here. Mike Shanonhan, Mike Holgrem, Bill Cowher, no way! We're gonna have to ride this one out. It sucks I know. Lets hope for we get a high draft pick, and get a quarterback, and some O line. Or we can trade it all away for Big Ben, because you know there gonna franchise tag him. So there goes to 2 first round draft picks, but it makes a perfect fit for Cowher.

Posted by: wm_mulholland | October 12, 2009 8:57 AM | Report abuse

Zorn certainly has questions to answer, but come on guys? The players suck! They had the Panthers beat at half time only to show up dead in the second half. Get rid of Campbell, fix the O-line, and get a few playmakers (a new RB!).

Posted by: RB1019 | October 12, 2009 9:04 AM | Report abuse

This is Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder's mess. No one would be successful in this situation. Zorn is a scapegoat. Cerrato is the man responsible for this year's failings. How could Cerrato not draft or sign an offensive lineman? Too bad Cerrato and Snyder are butt buddies...

Posted by: adamReston | October 12, 2009 9:20 AM | Report abuse

Fire Zorn? Are you kidding? The problem with the skins is not Zorn. It isn't Campbell. It is the fact that the team has no GM and an owner who doesn't know how to own a team successfully.

Grow an offensive line and this team can win. Until then, forget it.

Posted by: JoelB8 | October 12, 2009 10:02 AM | Report abuse

Instead of firing another good coach - like Gibbs and Suppier How about getting a GOOD quarterback - Jason Campbell is not a franchise QB - he's one dimensional and cant lead a 2:00 drill to save his life. I've said for 3 yrs that this team is hopeless until it drafts the right qb. So lets hope we lose lose lose and get a great draft pick.

Posted by: espnfan | October 12, 2009 10:13 AM | Report abuse

Would that we could fire the whole front office!

Posted by: Geezer4 | October 12, 2009 10:57 AM | Report abuse

Give Todd Collins a chance, particularly now that their line is so porous. He deserves it. He leads a team to the playoffs and gets benched again by Zorn. He sees the field better than J.C. and could change the whole offense. Firing Zorn wouldn't help anything. Dan Snyder doing the impossible and exhibiting enough humility to fire his real chosen one, Vinny Cerrato would help a lot.

Posted by: curtb | October 12, 2009 11:00 AM | Report abuse

The only reason to fire Zorn is to put him out of his misery and to replace him with someone else who can be miserable. A great coach MIGHt save the season but Memo to Skins lovers--NO GREAT COACH WANTS THIS JOB. So you would be replacing him with ahhhh . . . what. In reply to Campbell haters--he is at best an average QB--no average QB can do ANYTHING with that O-line. Put Collins out there to be massacred--good idea, particulary since he too will have only ONE WR who should be in the NFL--oh yeah and a tight end. See great pass yesterday to one of the Skins who call themselves a WR but that are not. If you fire Zorn and send Portis to a "Fountain of Youth" and get hime an ACTUAL blocking backup, RB things will be great. Oh yeah, find 800 or 900 million dollars and buy the team.

Posted by: TAGZ | October 12, 2009 11:05 AM | Report abuse

Dan Snyder is the problem. He does not know how to run a team. He spends big bucks on players without thinking about how they will mesh as a team. Therefore he has individual players but no team. He will also take a players side over a coaches.. that just leads to players disrespecting the coach. Individual players, disrespecting the coach equals NO TEAM

Posted by: A62k | October 12, 2009 11:13 AM | Report abuse

Mr. Snyder and Vinny are the problem. A knucklehead owner trying to spend his way out the problem. Plus, Jason Campbell is not a franchise QB..No way...

Posted by: goarmy89 | October 12, 2009 11:28 AM | Report abuse

Collins does not have to be mobile. he gets the pass off right away. With JC, if we ever run the Statue of Liberty play, we half half of it covered. We have Campbell, the statue. And to those who think JC is more mobile, what does that matter when he will not take off and run? Last week was an aberration. He should have run several times yesterday after he failed to GET RID OF THE BALL.
