Welcome to The Jungle (Not So Much)

Man, this is the NFL? Really?

We are in for an all-time bad atmosphere here for the Bungals/Skins. There is no one here, 15 minutes before kickoff. No one. Empty parking lots. A few groups of people tailgating under the overpass of a major highway.

That's it.

Entire sections are devoid of anything more than just a few brave souls. Might be 20,000 people here. Maybe.

The Skins have no excuses today. Clinton Portis figures to get fed the ball until he begs for mercy. Stick to the ground game, especially with the bookends of Fabini and Heyer. Gut it out. Nothing pretty, just a win.

Sounds like we have more bloggers than there are fans in the stadium.

So how does this game turn?

Man - the radio broadcast hasn't even kicked OFF yet... geez!

Posted by: DikShuttle | December 14, 2008 1:05 PM | Report abuse

Looks like they are starting ineptly as they did against the other teams. Looks like they just fumbled the ball! Typical Deadskins!

Posted by: jiacinto | December 14, 2008 1:06 PM | Report abuse

sonny and sam just said JC couldn't complete a simple pass to a wide open ARE.

Great! Cooley-(overrated) fumbles the ball.

oy vey!!!

Posted by: davebutz | December 14, 2008 1:06 PM | Report abuse

Cooley comes up little again this week.

Posted by: talent_evaluator | December 14, 2008 1:06 PM | Report abuse

I can see from the 'gamecast' that our offense is up to our usual offensiveness..

Posted by: DikShuttle | December 14, 2008 1:06 PM | Report abuse

Looks like the Redskins are going to f!ck up this game. Look for CIN to go up 7-0.

Posted by: jiacinto | December 14, 2008 1:10 PM | Report abuse

I'm sure all the Anti-Zorn types on here will say, Cooley wasn't motivated properly by Zorn, blah, blah, blah...

Sonny and Sam are saying they are pressing, pressing, pressing...

great D today too!

Posted by: lsskinsfan | December 14, 2008 1:10 PM | Report abuse

TD cincy

Posted by: lsskinsfan | December 14, 2008 1:11 PM | Report abuse

CIN ahead 7-0. The humiliation begins. Now, if WAS ends up losing, will Zorn not return next year?

Posted by: jiacinto | December 14, 2008 1:11 PM | Report abuse

Refs suck. Cooley took a helmet to helmet; no call.....
and our de is playing like shti.....down 7-0 already. TO THE BUNGLES

Posted by: dlhaze1 | December 14, 2008 1:11 PM | Report abuse

Wow, words cannot describe...

Posted by: ga8085 | December 14, 2008 1:11 PM | Report abuse

7-0 Bengals....lol

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | December 14, 2008 1:11 PM | Report abuse

Great we already down by 7.

JM220

Posted by: icetotalpackage | December 14, 2008 1:12 PM | Report abuse

Wow you are blaming the Refs for the cooley fumble??? Only thing more pathetic than this game so far, is that comment.

Posted by: skins1110 | December 14, 2008 1:12 PM | Report abuse

I blame Cooley's fumble on Campbell and Zorn and managment

Posted by: austin987654 | December 14, 2008 1:12 PM | Report abuse

36 rushing yards already.....perhaps the defense has decided not to bail out the offense anymore until the offense starts making plays...

Posted by: davebutz | December 14, 2008 1:12 PM | Report abuse

Cooley coughed it up and it led to 7.

Time for Commander Zorn to bench Cooley for the rest of the game.

That'll show 'em!

Posted by: MrRedskin21 | December 14, 2008 1:12 PM | Report abuse

Hope they can shake this off and kick some a$$, but I am not hopeful. I went to get stuff out of my car and we had a turnover when I got back - the gameclock was only at 13:33! See you all later this week, maybe.

Posted by: suzannepdc | December 14, 2008 1:13 PM | Report abuse

Hah on a side note who is at fault for the fact that I have been going through these kind of games for 15+ years yet still come back. Redskins fault for being so inept or my fault for investing hope in a loser? Talk amongst yourselves.

Posted by: mofass79 | December 14, 2008 1:13 PM | Report abuse

dlhaze1

don't blame the refs. The only thing more pathetic than the Skins offense is when the fans start blaming the refs!
I guess the D allowing that TD was Zorn's fault too, right?

Posted by: lsskinsfan | December 14, 2008 1:13 PM | Report abuse

THE ROCK!!!

Posted by: davebutz | December 14, 2008 1:14 PM | Report abuse

Fire everyone

Posted by: Imjustlikemusiq | December 14, 2008 1:14 PM | Report abuse

Not blaming the refs FOR the fumble; it was a fumble. They just ignored the helmet to helmet hit that caused it.

Posted by: dlhaze1 | December 14, 2008 1:14 PM | Report abuse

This is amazing that this team can allow CIN to humiliate them like this.

Posted by: jiacinto | December 14, 2008 1:15 PM | Report abuse

A turnover and then three and out! Wow ,what a great start against a powerhouse AFC team!

Posted by: davebutz | December 14, 2008 1:16 PM | Report abuse

Okay you can blame the refs for that no call. Way to throw short of the marker though.

Posted by: skins1110 | December 14, 2008 1:17 PM | Report abuse

S & S just said that was pass interference.
Good punt.

Posted by: lsskinsfan | December 14, 2008 1:17 PM | Report abuse

Hey guys could someone please tell me what happened on first and second downs of washingtons first series

Posted by: dealer1 | December 14, 2008 1:17 PM | Report abuse

How could a team that beat PHL and DAL, start 6-2, and still find a way to lose to CIN.

Posted by: jiacinto | December 14, 2008 1:17 PM | Report abuse

It's so hard to watch a team melt down right before your eyes.

Zorn is gone at the end of the year. The players look uninspired, and for the first time this year the defense looks like they simply don't give a damn or just are overmatched.

I'm ready for the season to be done with.

Thank god for the Jets/Bills.

Posted by: RedDMV | December 14, 2008 1:18 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: talent_evaluator | December 14, 2008 1:17 PM

When your playing like a JV team, you don't deserve to get any calls.

Do something to earn the respect of the refs, instead of fumbling or three and outs.

Is it so much to put another dude besides ARE back there.

He's terrible.

F&*K!!!!!!!!

Posted by: RedDMV | December 14, 2008 1:21 PM | Report abuse

We need a fumble by Betts to really get us in our usual form...

Posted by: davebutz | December 14, 2008 1:22 PM | Report abuse

Can we ever have a punt returner in his early 20's?

Sonny and Sam are killing me! All they do is whine. I'm here in San Diego listening on Sirius.

Posted by: strom1 | December 14, 2008 1:22 PM | Report abuse

wow that was one of the worst punt returns i have ever seen. ARE needs to stop returning these punts. Danny Smith may need to be the one to go in the off-season. Our special teams units are terrible.

Posted by: JMSinCHeights | December 14, 2008 1:22 PM | Report abuse

Can we please pull El off punt return? Damn he gives us nothing.

Posted by: icetotalpackage | December 14, 2008 1:22 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: az_david | December 14, 2008 1:22 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: jiacinto | December 14, 2008 1:22 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: skins1110 | December 14, 2008 1:23 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: dc4mckinney | December 14, 2008 1:25 PM | Report abuse

lol...and the comedy continues.
if it was up to me, i'd trade campbell, cooley, randel el, betts, jason taylor, carlos rogers, and laron landry before their stocks fall any lower than that. use the draft picks to select young players for the OL and the DL. we should go after a proven veteran kicker and punter, and also after a proven WR.
while we are at it if we could trade the owner and his cousin, and the coach too for the management of the pittsburgh steelers and cowler, that would be ok with me too.
finally this team deserves to be in dc to represent the heart and soul of the city instead of the upper class people of the maryland suburbs that you now see in the stadium.
would you move the detroit lions, the philadelphia eagles for the suburbs of these cities?

Posted by: davebutz | December 14, 2008 1:26 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: TWISI | December 14, 2008 1:39 PM | Report abuse

Serious question about Portis and you people dissing him. If we're tearing our hair out over this offense, and let's just say for grins there's a player or two who honestly cares about winning....what is he doing wrong?

I'm glad *someone* on this piece of crap offense at least realizes all is not well. JC isn't a leader - he looks like he's on valium half the time.

Clinton is da man! Leave him alone :)

Am I the only Skins fan here hoping we would lose 51-0?! I think it would only be fitting that we would lose by that much to the worst offense in the nfl.
by the way, cooley is one of the biggest overated players on this team. i am still surprised as to why he wasn't arrested for posting a pic of his "you know what" for all to see, including kids. at least that way we would have had a sighting of davis, the high draft pick of my cousin vinny to see what he can do.

I think that ultimately the owner is at fault here. He has not backed up Zorn. The only theory that I have is that the owner has privately given up on Zorn and used Portis to drive a wedge.

Posted by: jiacinto | December 14, 2008 1:53 PM | Report abuse

wouldn't it be hilarious if our defense gave up like 30 against the bengals??? THE BENGALS??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's true. JC is like a walking advertisement for Xanax.

Oh, well, Zorn can always yell at some ball boys and throw a clipboard or two.

Anything to avoid owning his actions.

He and his buddy GW Bush have that in common.

Posted by: SDMDTSU | December 14, 2008 1:51 PM

This is a compromise. Zorn wanted pass, pass, pass. Portis wanted run, run, run. The owner split the difference, in Portis's favor because he love Portis.

Posted by: KShark28 | December 14, 2008 1:55 PM | Report abuse

The main problem is that the owner has not backed up Zorn up. He has allowed players to undermine the coach. And that is what Portis is doing. Portis is intentionally undermining the team. I don't want to say that they're throwing the game, but I also think that they're not giving their best.

Posted by: jiacinto | December 14, 2008 1:55 PM | Report abuse

This is so pathetic I could care less if the whole team suffered career ending injuries. They have completely quit on Zorn and that is about as damning as can be for a coach. He will be fired and should be. Illegal formations, horrible play calling and no fire shown from team. This is like the team in 2000 that was 6-2 and fell apart and quit on Terry Robiskie.

It's only the second quarter. You would expect them to be calm if they're confident they can still win the game. What you're expecting is "panic" not urgency.

Posted by: talent_evaluator | December 14, 2008 2:03 PM | Report abuse

Throw in Colt Brennan, just for kicks. We're not going to win and Zorn won't be here next year anyway.

Posted by: periculum

I think you got it backward. If CP, Moss, and Fletcher are smart, they will find a way to get out of town quickly like others before them who are now pro-bowlers who couldn't wait to leave. Antonio Pierce and Champ Bailey are notables.
This team is a cancer with Snyder and his cousin at the helm.
