Who's Going To Walk The Plank?

So, who takes the weight for this latest franchise-wide failure? What do you guys think?

I think it's pretty obvious that Arch Deluxe is gone, and a group of other players will depart as well - lot's of older vets realize this is probably it in DC. But will they do the right thing and reshape the front office? I, for one, think the coaching Big Three - Gibbs, Williams and Saunders - will all be back, but I could see some assistants leaving and maybe some roles changing. I also see Brunell back with a restructured contract more in line with a backup.

As close as he is to Dan, and for as many accolades as he gets tossed his way around here, I could see Vinny being the fall guy. The coaches carry the bulk of the personnel calls in this regime, but Vinny's record here stinks, the drafting beyond the first round has been a disaster and the lesser players signed to fill gaps and provide a modicum of depth have often failed. Steve Jackson is very close with Grilliams, but the collapse of the secondary could leave someone in the cold, beyond AD.

So, what do you think the odds are of the following being seen in these parts in '07:

The Big Three (as presently constructed)

Steve Jackson

Brandon Lloyd (I don't think there's anyway they can him after one season, but figured since he's in the news and all, I'd throw him in here).

The Funky Four

Increasingly Large Globs of Vacant Seats at Dannyland

Pre-Season Super Bowl Rhetoric

TomKat (some blame them for cursing the season during that first Monday Night game, but not me, 'cause Katie Holmes brushed past me in the corridor near the Skins locker room before the game and I found out definitively that I am indeed taller than her man. And as an NFL beat writer, that's all you can really ask for out of a season).

Randoms: Spoke to some agents about what kind of payday Ladell Betts could expect in his new contract, and we all seemed to agree that $6-7 million guaranteed looks like the range. This is likely to be Ladell's one big ca-ching moment - the earning-span for RBs is way short - and it will probably take that much to keep him from testing the free agent waters. They've been talking since the summer and appeared close a few times before, but like I've said I think it gets done before the end of the season ... At the risk of jinxing it, I think Chloe may have finally realized the folly of her ways the past three months with her exclusively chicky nugget/french fry diet. Lately, it has occurred to her that there may be other, at least equally yummy food out there, and maybe all the stuff she sees daddy and mommy munching is worth a shot after all. The other night at Guapo's, after a long flirtation from afar, she bit into my chicken taco. She's discovered that she is indeed half-Italian, and devoured some ziti the other night. When I got home last night and scarfed a turkey burger while playing with her, she ended up chomping it like three times. This qualifies as traffic-stopping news in my house. Now if we can get on the veggies we'll be there. But hey, up here, we take it one food group at a time. I'm sure in no time at all she'll be eating her guts out.
