Putting the McNabb and Moss conversation aside, is it just me or was the off-sides call on the field goal the tipping point in the game? I felt that by holding them to a field goal we keep momentum.

Philip Daniels knows better. Even if the center moved the ball like they claim.

Posted by: Devo2 | November 1, 2010 3:59 PM | Report abuse

If he clears waivers, they should definitely sign him.

Randy Moss giving the Skins SOMETHING is far better than Joey Galloway giving the Skins NOTHING.

Sign him and cut Galloway so he can have #84.

Shanny is clearly in wrong profession.

Obviously much more suited to the medical profession.

Must have x-ray vision or something.

And healing hands that have been touched by God himself.

Can diagnose injuries that even players themselves don't know about -- and perform medical miracles too.

Witness his continuing support for CP26 -- who is still on the roster, while Shanny assures all that he will play again sometime this year -- maybe late December or early January -- presumably in some sort of combined jock strap and truss contraption.

Randy Moss?

No.

Logan Mankins?

Yes.

When you can't block, you add blockers, not catchers.

And once you have the blocking, it doesn't matter who's does the catching.

Yes...and the Doughty unnecessary block in the back on the ensuing touchdown by banks tipped it even more...I was even deflated...threw out every curse word I know.

At this point he could set fire to the locker room after every practice and Randy Moss would still not be too disruptive to be considered a massive upgrade to our receiving corps.

Not that I imagine Randy would sign for us. He is looking for a Super Bowl ring. I think he might try to get to Indy. What better way to stick it to Brady and the Pats than by pairing up with Peyton Manning and the Colts.

Posted by: WeNeedLinemen | November 1, 2010 4:03 PM | Report abuse

Sure, why not try rolling with Moss and Moss....

Posted by: GAU8A | November 1, 2010 4:03 PM | Report abuse

Highly doubt Moss comes here. Shanahan has his hands full and I'm guessing he knows Moss won't motivate easily. Since its only an 8 week deal, he won't have time to win have a power struggle.

Ideal team for Moss ... Denver.

They throw all day anyway, need the wins and the coach knows him. Otherwise, he goes back to the Pats. Chicago may want him, too.

Nobody's talking about wasting high draft picks in a trade or signing the guy to a long term contract. Randy Moss for eight games for no draft picks in a year with no salary cap might be okay. Surely you don't believe that he would be less helpful than R. Wiliams or Galloway?

I agree that we certainly need blocking. Mankins or someone like him would be great if available.

In the meantime, though, I still think that Moss might be an upgrade over what we have for 8 games since he'd only cost his salary and not draft picks or trade players. Who knows, maybe he's been humbled by his Vikings experience (??). No need to bring him back next year if he's a head case.

The situations for Randy Moss?

Team has to be underachieving, teams playing well won't want to mess with chemistry.

Has to be a strong coach ... or a desperate one. wade ... you can tell jerruh jones here's your chance to get him. At 1-6, what is the downside risk? Other coaches on the hot seat that might want to take that risk:
McDaniels, Lovie Smith

Cincy is another place with a desparate HC, but they're full up on WRs.

I'd put Tennessee in the long shot category since Britt appears to be out and they don't have much in the WR area

The only coach strong enough? The guy in NE.

Posted by: zcezcest1 | November 1, 2010 4:14 PM | Report abuse

At least they're utilizing hayney and who thought we'd be 4-4.

We got schooled by the defense we switched out of.

Shannys showing all these cast offs that wouldn't make any other roster that no one is safe. Shanny will cut everyone until we're a team of no one's, then he'll cut them too.

Before shannys done we'll be starting high schoolers

Funny thing about luck, it tends to even out. What about the sure fire TD pass that bounced off of Zach Miller's facemask?

I don't why we have to pick sides here. Our offense stunk on ice when JC was here. I'm happy for him and like to see him doing well. I cheered for him when laid that block that sprung Jacoby Jones. I also cheer for McNabb. I think the trade was stupid but I don't blame either player for it.

Details Lost in the McNabb Benching Hubbub

---Brandon Banks is a stellar return guy

(Remember when folks complained that he might fumble?)

---Albert Haynesworth played almost as good as N Suh.

(I guess the work from the conditioning drill has kicked in)

---Ryan Torain's hamstring injury continues doubt about his viability as a starter due to his injury history.

(What, there's Quinton Ganther to found to back him up?)

--DeAngelo Hall had another INT

(And Jay Cutler still throwing in his direction no matter what.)

--LaRon Landry is the new "Lights Out".

(And somewhere, Shawn Merriman is getting a tattoo that reads "Been Turned Off")

--the skins are 2-1 against the NFC North

(Yes, but like every other ACC team, they fold when the pressure's on. Maybe we should move to the Big East.)

Dock needs to take Shanny up on his offer and go watch film together to get an explanation how Licks is "helping our football team" more than he could. Licks is the human swinging gate. And next to Rabach, it's just hard to watch them get so consistently dominated.

Posted by: AdamCr | November 1, 2010 4:17 PM | Report abuse

Yeah, signing the top reciever in the league would be insane. Especially when our number 1 reciever would only be a number 2 on any other team. Not to mention not having a solid solid receiver, yeah, totally insane.

I am very surprised that 83% are saying yes....I thought it'd be 50-50....

I am a firm NO.

Boy do I hope Dallas signs him....that would be a sign that Jerral has lost his mind.

Posted by: WaitingGuilty | November 1, 2010 4:19 PM | Report abuse

Apparently Moss is subject to waivers. Since that is based on last year's record we've got a pretty good shot at getting him if Shanny wants him.

I understand that he is not someone to build a team around but, for this year, it is no cost proposition.

It's an uncapped year, we give up no picks and upgrade our receiving corps until the end of the season. Its no different to signing any other street free agent.

Almost everyone wants rid of Joey Galloway. Moss will provide many times the threat that Joey does, and the only cost to the franchise is a hit on Snyder's wallet. This isn't a regression to massive and pointless spending on over-the-hill free agents. It could and should be an 8-game rental.

Anyone who prefers either keeping Galloway, signing someone off the practice squad or some scrub u.f.a. instead of Moss needs to take a long lie down in a darkened room.

Doubt it. The players that don't buy in will be shipped out.

Coaches can lose a locker room. But that's usually when the players have a sense that they will outlast the coach(Wade Phillips, Jim Zorn).

Baloney. The issue with big name players in the past was money and picks. They don't give up any picks in picking up Moss, and they need a receiver with size desperately.

There really isn't anything to lose in picking him up...they can always cut him if he slacks.

hue jackson o-coordinator on raiders coaches campbell NOT cable, jackson appears to allow campbell to do alot with the passing game as zorn went over in the 2years at washington, their team is more healthy and they have young players at rb, wr'(draft picks) who MAKE plays after catching the ball. campbell is doing what he did with washington the 1st half of 2008 before injuries set in. even if campbell is benched when the other qb returns he won't be in there long he's injury prone and his next injury will knock him out for the rest of the year.

Deion wanted to come here when he was releaased and washed up. Jason Taylor danced here near the end of the road. So did Bruce Smith. And Gibbs II. And Marty. And Shanny. And McNabb. And a 99 yr old bingo caller. And Rex.

What do they all have in common?
They were all waaay past their prime and got that last fat check from Dan Dummy before leaving after doing nothing special. Gibbs II also, who lost more games than he won for $10 mill per. Poor ROI: $30 mill for 2 playoff seasons.

Randy is Dan's type of guy:
Popular and well known.
Known for what he used to you elsewhere.
Closed to washed up.

If Dan were the Wiz coach, we'd have Shaq, Stackhouse, Webber, Penny and MJ - in 2010.

For once we can get a high priced talent on the cheap. If ever there were a time to acquire Randy Moss, it's NOW. Santana and Cooley would double their production inside. Anyone see what he did for Percy Harvin and Wes Welker??

SIGN HIM!!

Randy Moss, and Armstrong on the edges, Santana in the slot. I mean, what the hell is the debate.

BTW - If anyone says Randy doesn't give effort, I will point you to Joey Galloway's tape. He has given up on routes consistently this year and appears afraid of contact. I'll take Randy's half ass effort over Galloways anyday.

If they pick up Moss, it will be a clear sign that Snyder is undermining Shanahan's autonomy.

That's not a good sign.

80%????

Last year- "I HATE SNYDER!!!" "SNYDER IS DESTROYING THE FRANCHISE!!!!"

This year- "PLEASE, MR. SNYDER, GO BACK TO DOING WHAT YOU DO!!!! PLEASE!!!!"

Insider-Fans-Allen-Shanniliar,

Regard me. Sign Randy Moss. Do it! Yes.

The answer to the sign Randy/don't sign Randy question is the same as the answer to the following question: Is Randy Moss better than any WR on the Redskins roster?
