Yikes! We're Nearly There

The Boren Ultimatum is at hand -- we're at 99.035. Or were when I checked 20 minutes ago. You guys went nutz yesterday and last night. Sure, some of it was silly and in questionable taste, but let's not look back, okay? It's on to 100k! Now that the moment is here, it's tough to find the right inspirational words...I think I'll go with Cotton McKnight: "It's time to separate the wheat from the chaff, the men from the boyz, the awkwardly feminine from the possibly Canadian."

After Antonio Pierce blasted an air horn during an interview, Tiki Barber weighed in Thursday night on Sirius Radio.

"Now that things are struggling, first he runs away from it early in the week and now he's refusing

to answer questions by being completely disrespectful to a group of people who're just trying to do their job," Barber said.

Told of Barber's comments, as well as Shannon Sharpe calling Pierce's behavior childish and trivial, Pierce snapped, "Do they play for the New York Giants? Then I have nothing to say. I'm sorry I scared

everybody."

I had this thought on Thursday while Chris Carter was interviewing Antonio Romo on inside the NF of L.

Romo was our Gus Ferrotte. Think about it.

Please chime in. Remember, Ferrotte took us to a 7-1 1st half of a season......

Seriously, there is no way on earth the Redskins lose to the Gints. I'm not saying the Skins are perfect or that they're gonna knock off those '72 Dolphins (although -- sorry, Redcoat; you know I love you -- I dearly wish someone would), but they aren't gonna lose this game.
Unless....those unis are bad luck. That's the only way they lose.

Fake Cindy! Cindy does not predict wins/losses or use "gonna"....

I'm just sayin'.

If Romo is the cowboys' version of Gus, let us all hope that he headbutts a wall, or better yet, the goal post

Not fake Cindy! Real Cindy! True, I don't usually predict wins/losses. I'll grant you that. But this one is a lock because the Gints are, oh, crazy and bad. Another way to tell is that I never ever type "Giants." And I do use "gonna." It's a throwback to my NYC tabloid daze.

This is going to be one of the most fun weddings I've ever been in. She's a former sorority girl and she and all her friends turn it up to 11 whenever they party. He's my best friend and has approximately twice the personality I do, and twice the partying power. And that's saying a lot. He is also the single worst wingman ever, so him meeting this girl did wonders for my own social life :-)

I threw a little party for them last night after the rehearsal and we had a total blast. Champagne, tequila, and other assorted bottles of booze were in abundance...

Tonight is going to be awesome, and I am so not a fan of weddings.

Posted by: Cindy | September 22, 2007 11:14 AM | Report abuse

I'm all over the place this morning...

I just read Rudy-Judi piece. I am not a fan of the NRA, but Rudi disrespected the SJK out of them. He is basically on a job interview and he let his cell phone ring AND answered it....

""Wait just a second," he told the perplexed crowd. "This is my wife calling, I think."

"Hello, dear," he said in a syrupy voice.

"I'm talking to the members of the NRA right now. Would you like to say hello?" he said to confused chuckles.

"I love you, and I'll give you a call as soon as I'm finished. OK, have a safe trip. Bye-bye. Talk to you later, dear. I love you."

Initially, people thought it was a joke. There was some polite applause and laughter after he hung up.

As Giuliani tucked his phone back into his suit pocket, he told the audience it was better to answer his wife's calls.

"This is one of the great blessings of the modern age. You're always available," he said.

"Or, maybe it isn't."

Lloyd Carr and Russell Crowe? What's next, Joe-Pa and Tom Cruise?? And they say that politics make strange bed fellows...

As for this week being a "must win" - in the dilluted sense of that overused phrase, I guess I agree (i.e., it's pretty darn important) but in the truest sense, no chance this is a do-or-die game. I also am wary of thinking we're going to roll the Giants, even though logic says we should - Tiki's gone, Brandon Jacobs is hurt, Eli sucks, their defense is porous - but it is still a divisional tilt against a wounded team. Desperation can be dangerous, but sounds like the team is in the right frame of mind - confident but still focused, hungry and hopefully a chip still on the shoulder. Skins 23-12 - NO TD'S ALLOWED

Let's not crown Cerrato just yet. These guys have played two great games together. But there is no doubt that he deserves credit for finding Cooley, Rocky, some of these guys on the D-Line who were profiled in today's WashPo, etc.

I have nothing against Vinny or "Mr." Snyder, personally. If they win a Super Bowl, I don't think anyone would have a problem sucking it up and thanking Vinny for his contribution.

That said, under Vinny and "Mr." Snyder, the 'Skins have accomplished absolutely nothing.

Don't go giving Vinny credit for this. Vinny is basically just in charge of the scouting department. He dosen't make the picks.

I only credit Vinny fully for getting us 2 1st rounders for Sean Gilbert and drafting TO (49ers). Gibbs 2.4 is now in charge and that's why he brought in Saunders because he was getting stretched thin..

He could've been. Snyder SJK'd it. I lived with Norv during my years of actually playing football and I saw progress, save for holding 4th QTR leads. We got rid of him at the wrong time. We should have either got rid of him in '96/97 or until he stopped making the playoffs and went backwards. He was great OC when the 'Girls used the Skins offense to win the 1st 2 90s SB.....

From Redcoat on 9/20:

A wildlife biologist had been in Africa for many years, studying elephant behaviour. On one trip out into the jungle he had observed an adult elephant limping behind the pack. He watched the elephant with his scope and could see a terrible sore on the elephant's foot with a huge thorn sticking from the oozing hole. The elephant seemed in such pain that the biologist decided to risk his life and remove the thorn.

He mustered his courage and walked up to the beast. Slowly he reached down and grabbed the end of the thorn. With a big yank, he pulled the thorn from the animal's wound. The elephant screamed and spun to face the biologist. He stood there paralyzed with fear as the animal stared him in the eyes. After a moment, the elephant reached out to gently pat him with it's trunk and then disappeared into the jungle.

This touching moment had stayed with the biologist for many years. One day he was visiting a local zoo with his son when a huge elephant rushed through it's exhibit and stopped at the edge of the fence. The animal stared at the biologist and longingly reached it's trunk toward him. As the elephant stared at him, he recalled the tender moment shared with an elephant many years before. "Could this be that very same elephant?....It must be!" he thought. After having the animal stare at him for some time, he was overcome with a tender familiarity and climbed over the fence to get closer to the gentle beast. When he reached the animal, it reached out it's trunk and picked the biologist off the ground by his legs. After killing him by slamming his body on the ground a few times, it bashed him against a tree, then threw his body over the fence and back into the crowd of visitors.

I guess it wasn't the same elephant.

I am a die hard fan and accept what I can't change, like HC of the team. I agree with what has been written about Norv, but I don't think the reasoning was because of him. The organization played a big role......

"In 1958, Van Brocklin joined the Philadelphia Eagles and was given total control of the Philly offense. He slowly improved the Eagles attack, leading them to the 1960 NFL championship game against the Green Bay Packers. In a game dominated by defense, Van Brocklin led a fourth quarter Eagle come back resulting in a 17-13 victory. This was Philadelphia's third and most recent NFL championship.

During his 12-year career, he played on two championship teams in the National Football League: the 1951 Los Angeles Rams and the 1960 Philadelphia Eagles. Following the latter triumph, he retired. As it turned out, his Eagles team would be the only team to defeat the Packers in a championship game during Vince Lombardi's tenure as Green Bay's head coach. Van Brocklin led the NFL in passing three times and in punting twice. On nine occasions, he was selected to the Pro Bowl.

One of the most under reported stats has been that the Redskins' "D" has 5 sacks in 2 games. Kudos to Greg Williams for believing in his young talent to get pressure. I still think they need another speedy playmaker on the line, but I think they deserve credit for not yielding to public and media pressure. They did right by drafting Laron Landry.

Why do we have to look at announcers all of a sudden?! Just tell me what's going on in the game, and get off my tv! How is it possibly good for ratings to have a close up of Verne Lundquist (lsu v sc) at the begining of the half?

Posted by: Chris Larry | September 22, 2007 5:37 PM | Report abuse

Some random, sketchy guy just asked my girlfriend and I for a ride when I was leaving Bloom. The guy was pretty hefty and eating a snickers bar while talking to me, but eating it with his mouth open. I could see all of the happy peanuts soaring over chocolate covered mountains, just like in the commercial (!!), while being mixed with saliva and ground up in his teeth.

Posted by: swb | September 22, 2007 5:38 PM | Report abuse

An offesive lineman named "Hitt" you can't script that SJK..

Posted by: Chris Larry | September 22, 2007 5:39 PM | Report abuse

Anyway, so this guy was pretty hefty and, nothing against hefty guys, but my car's got a joke of a back seat, and I didn't really want to make a potentially awkward situation any more awkward than it needed to be. So, I did what any paranoid citizen would do - I lied. I quickly told him that unfortunately, my car only seated two people.

Wahoowa.

UVa runs to 3-1, 3-0 in ACC play, with a big win over Ga Tech today. Oh yes. How sweet it is. Setting me up for crushing disappointment at the end of the season, of course.

Posted by: Nate in the PDX | September 22, 2007 5:40 PM | Report abuse

Speaking of announcers,

F TIKI BARBER.

I guess they are paying him to systematically rip every one of his teammates, one at a time. Are they THAT desperate for ratings??!

sorry dealer...

F Spurrier......worst skins coach eva!

Posted by: Chris Larry | September 22, 2007 5:40 PM | Report abuse

Sensing my lie, the guy asked me what kind of car it was, and even wagered a guess of his own (an old MG, he asked). I quickly blurted out "Oh, no, just a Miata".

I think he still didn't believe me and followed me out into the parking lot. Well, two can play at the "casually-trying-to-catch-you-in-a-lie" game, so I stalled. I decided to go put the shopping cart back before putting the groceries in my car. Sensing defeat (or just deciding that even if I was lying, he was tired of waiting for me to slip up), my hefty friend waddled across the parking lot to stand under a tree near the road.

Sure is a tough, dangerous life out here in the suburbs...

Story broken up into 3 posts to better my effort towards the Ultimatum.

Do you know what it means when the Washington Redskins win their first two games? I did a little research on this, and I didn't even Google it Is Google a verb, by the way? Anyway, I digress. Every Joe Gibbs coached Redskins team that began the season 2-0 went to the playoffs. Every Joe Gibbs coached team that began the season 2-0 also extended that winning streak.

Besides, with global warming, you won't have to worry about the polar bears for much longer.

She used to like Tampa Bay (strangely enough, around the time they won their Super Bowl) but isn't so keen on them any more.

She loves the Pats, Steelers, and Colts...

She recently said "I think I like the Texans."

Whenever the Redskins lose, they're "my boys." Whenever they win but almost lose, they're still "my boys." I'm fine with that for now (both wins this season, in her book were "almost loses"). I'm just wondering what will happen when we finally have those breakaway games I know are in our future.

Oh yeah. They'll be "our boys."

Moses had to leave a lot of cool stuff out of the Pentateuch, too--I bet the Israelites had a lot of motivational targets during their 40 years in the wilderness that didn't make it into the Pentateuch. . .

"All right, come on, everybody! Three more days out here and we'll hit 10,000 days in the wilderness! Let's do it!"

But all we can do is search the archives, translate like hamsters, and see what we turn up.

Just interseting since I did not wear mine for that exact reason.

Well, there were plenty of non natives there. Some look like they could have blood since they are tan. Others look like they have been diluted to almost white. But there were plenty of hippies, bikers, military, myself... so it is a good mix.

THe guy wearing the hat did have an outstanding mullet, the kind that is wavy all the way to his shoulders. Slightly tan, so he may have been.

The little league Redskins lost today :( but that's ok - really - because they lost last weekend too and the big Redskins won anyway. And it's all about the learning and fun for 9 year olds - right?

But! can I tell you all about the hit my boy put on the running back of the other team? The guy was running down the side line and my boy laid him out! he flew probably five feet out of bounds. Then he comes out of the game, I go up to him at the bench and he pulls his helmet off and looks at me and says "that was like Sean Taylor, right Mom?"

That's my boy!

First time I saw the movie, in college, I couldn't talk for like a half hour. I was with a group of other kids and we went out for beer or whatever and chattered away.

I'm going to issue a challenge to everybody who can dedicate a chunk of time to the blog tonight, to do an Hour of Power: starting at 11pm Eastern, post as many comments as you can, for one solid hour.

Thirty comments/hour apiece would be great; fifty comments apiece would be amazing. Trust me, it's harder than it looks to post comment every minute.

(Might be a good idea to have a drink or some of whatever makes the comments flow, but not so much that you lose focus.)

So, who's with me? Who's in? If even ten of us do this, and average a comment each every two minutes, we'll make a huge step forward towards the Ultimatum. And the sooner we get there, the sooner we get our blog back.

It's going to take a really stupid and futile gesture to get there tonight, but I think we have what it takes...

They're doing good. They won their first game last week and lost today. Like I said before, they really don't know any better. It's funny because I've already experienced the overly reactive parent last week when their kid got "tackled". She screamed at the coach and the ref. Fact is her kid took a dive and no one even touched him. The coach gave her the look of death and told her to keep it down. Luckily every parent on our side is pretty cool. His coach happens to be a big skins fan too. I'm finding more and more of them down here in the DFDub.

If you folks want to post alot for the next hour, how about we talk Giant vs. Redskins memories of games played at home in DC?

I'll start.
How about the time Joe Theismann throwing that block on a Giant DB freeing the corner for Joe Washington to score? Theismann later said something to the affect of asking to be called one of the hogs? To which a hog [can't remember whom] said they would consent and call him a "piglet" Great memory; I was there that day.

Rodent update: on a trail walk today in Portland's Forest Park, the little man and I were standing still, just looking around quietly at the beautiful scenery, when out from beneath a fallen tree stepped a chipmunk onto the path, not ten feet from us.

Cute as the dickens he was, the little fellow. A bit shocked to look up and see us there, as you might imagine. It took just a squeal from my three-year-old for the chipmunk to hie himself into the brush on the other side of the trail, but it was great little moment.

Ray, for me the bad memories of Giants games outnumber the good memories.

And even the good memories are interlarded with intense anxiety.

Posted by: farstriker | September 22, 2007 10:29 PM | Report abuse

I don't have a Giants memory really -

I'm a deprived fan - in that aside from preseason games - they only game I've ever been to was the Redskins vs. the Bears. I was young so I can't even say what year this was, but Kilmer was still on the roster. Theisman was the starter and he was not productive so the biggest memory I have is that RFK rocked with "We want Billy" and how the stadium went nuts when Kilmer finally was put in. He made a show of it but we still lost.

My recent memory of Giants-Skins games are the 36-0 shellacking we took after the 49ers blowout in 05...oh..and them sweeping us last year...

with that in mind, I hope our boys remember those events and have vengeance in mind and violence in execution...

Redskin Ray, glad you mentioned "at home." It occurred to me that if this game were being played in New Jersey -- if everything else were the same -- that we would almost certainly lose. But being at home gives me that slight edge of confidence. Slight.

That one was agony as Phil Simms really picked apart our D late with short and mid range passes. So frustrating to watch!

I do recall from memory the 84 game at RFK.
I think it was Vernon Dean picked up a ball and ran it all the way back for a TD!
Skins won easily perhaps someone will look it up, but I think it was something like 31-14.

Goin into halftime, we had just scored a touchdown, and I'm super psyched...I go out to get a beer, and being that the lines were long, I was stuck out in the concourse til the 3rd quarter started. I look up at the tv screen and see f-ing Jeff Hostetler in the game for Frerotte. I hadn't realized how much damage that idiot had done to himself slamming his head into the wall!

And then the 17-17 tie!!! Argh!!!

Ultimate Giants-Skins memory -- Sitting in the end zone watching Gus score to go up 7-0 in a Sunday nighter. Then hearing that Gus had headbutted the wall at my end (which I couldn't see because of the angle) and would be out of the game. That redneck ex-Giant QB Hostetler comes in and does nothing until late, when it's 7-7. Hits Westbrook in field goal territory, and Westbrook gets so excited over actually making a nice play that he rips off his helmet in celebration, prompting a 15-yard penalty pushing the Skins out of field goal range. I'm pretty sure the game ended in a 7-all tie. That was a long night.

My biggest Giants memory was Theisman getting his fibula dislocated.
*****************************************

Oh yes, BF that was the 85 game.
His fibula was not dislocated.
Try a compound break! right through the sock!

Schroeder came in with absolutely no experience and Coach Joe surprised everyone by calling a long pass down the sideline to Art Monk, and of course Art came through! I recall I was feeling so down, and that quickly I was back in the game thinking we have to win this.
I learned something that night, Coach Joe is a gentleman yes, but he is a wise man in leadership, and he knew his team must be shook up, and needed to go after something to get them thinking "on the attack" to win when in life you find you are in a struggle.

Respect (usually), in the main, they've been a good team or a very good team over the years.

I just don't want to beat them, I want to beat them when they're good. And I just don't want to beat them, I want the Skins to really hand it to them, really whoop them, so there is no question who has the better team. I really wanna watch that cocky attitude implode, watch them sitting on the sidelines hanging there heads as the final seconds tick off of the clock.

Don't get me wrong, a win over the Cowboys is always sweet, but beating them when they have a crummy team is kind of like, well, aspartame, I want creme brulee, warm and oozing.

I'm very new here but my favorite thing about this blog is knowing that there are other crazy Redskins fans out there still.

Richmond has become sort of transient, like DC, and while we still are considered Redskin territory (therefore the PeeWee Redskins) it's still hard to find the die-hards out there.

Damn! My great grandpa grew up off Alabama Ave in SE. He moved out in '78. He was literally the last caucasian in the 'hood. He was 92 and a diehard 'Skins fan. He started going to games in the 40s at Griffith. The family has season tix that date from then. We're a big Irish group, though. So I only get one tik per season.

I have not been to FedEx yet, and part of me wants to keep it that way. I mean, 3 superbowl teams and I saw many of the games at RFK.

Besides, my parents got screwed in the transition. Their current seats suck compared to the RFK seats. They complained and got pushed aside. I have a hard time mustering any desire to be in FedEx.

looking forward to the game. If the D really stops the first prolific offense it has seen, it will answer a lot of questions in my mind about how far we can go.
I'm not sure why the Gints offense is so prolific, tho... weak running game, a lot of questions about their oline, good receivers but a TE that doesn't match the hype.

I gotta think the NEXT big wave of stadia will balance the insatiable desire for marketing and promotions and profits with a renewed sense of the importance of the things which added together comprise home field advantage. This is a theory that I haven't refined very much, but I just think that stadia like FedEx sacrifice everything for the almighty dollar, and everyone who visits the stadium feels it. A palpable sense that this place, the 'home' of your team, just isn't right. The team that gets it right by basically building a brand new Arrowhead, an RFK for the 21st century, will be getting so much more for its buck than the team that adds obstructed-view seats by the bushel. I thiknk.

These stadia matter, though. A $110M salary cap doesn't pay itself...
But the cost of the season ticket package is totally out of range for most people... then you wonder why people scalp some weeks to reduce the pain, and further wonder why it's so easy for the enemy-of-the-week to get tickets...

Vince Lombardi only coached the Skins for one year (1969), but he was the guy who realized Larry Brown needed a hearing aid.

Until then Brown couldn't hear the snap count and waited until he saw movement on the line.

What an amazing story that is.

Do you think that the workers in a Hormel corned beef hash factory ever pause and think, "Man, this load of hash I just processed is truly excellent. I nailed it on the spices, the meat byproducs, the little cubed potatoes."

Because if they don't--and I'm thinking they don't--then they feel not unlike me for the past hour or so.

I'm not proud of these posts, I'll tell you that. Hash.

But, on the other hand, I have exceeded quota.

Yeah, it's a little scary how angry I can get watching the Skins.

When Skins won their first Superbowl, I was in college. 20-some years of complete and utter frustration erupted. I went out and woke people up in their dorm rooms and made them sing HTTR. Most complied out of fear. My roommate was a friggin Iggles fan, yet he followed me all night b/c he was afraid of what might happen.

For weeks after that, people would come up to me and say. "you were crazed, out of your mind."

Oh well...I don't really remember much of anything after Riggo broke that 4th and one. I beieve that's where I lost it.

Alas, I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley--just far enough from the heart of Washington to be pestered by sniveling cowpoke fans (fans, I suspect, just because they live in cowboy boots/hats). Also, it wasn't mandatory for me (as a girl) to live and breathe football, and I had no brothers, so my only memories of the glory years were Joe Gibbs (even as a five year old I knew his name and face), and how he never smiled (Daddy, why doesn't he ever look happy, even when they score?), and how it didn't matter that my Dad's absolute favorite team was the Vikings (Vikings #1, Skins #2). The Redskins were my team.

That's the best I can do for old memories.

cosmofla, you want to talk about SJKing bricks... The year my little country (public) school made it to the Virginia State championship game, we had to go to the panhandle to play on their turf.

The football field was wedged into a hollar, with nothing else nearby. Every person from fifty miles around was there, chanting "Welcome to hell." They were twice our size. The field was three inches deep of sloppy mud before the game started--and in freezing conditions, too.

To top it off, the ref was a relative of their star player.

Good times. (yeah, we lost. 21-3 I think)

All this talk of home is making me very nostalgic... well that and the wine. It sucks that I can't afford the old 'hood. I'd love to go back but couldn't even afford the property taxes.

I guess I'm still in the region and will always have my team, though.

NFL Matchup just came on. First thing said,

"Jaws Meryll we all saw the game Monday night, what is wrong with the Philadelphia Eagles?"

Sigh, I could have sworn there was another team at the stink Monday night.

is going to smack all of you in the face tomorrow...start getting the excuses ready and prepare to see the "true redskins" come out tomorrow and for the rest of the season.

Congratulations on getting your 100,000 posts losers. 100,000 stupid declarations of going 14-2 or Jason Campbell being a pro bowler or sean taylor and landry being the greatest 1-2 combo in the history of sports....real impressive

Congratulations on achieving the Ultimatum - nice work!

Sometimes the best trades are the ones that are never made.

Case in point: At the annual league meetings at Phoenix in March, officials from the Washington Redskins proposed a deal that would have netted them Chicago Bears franchise weakside linebacker Lance Briggs.
At the time, Briggs was balking at signing the one-year qualifying offer for a franchise player and Chicago was steadfast in not offering him a multi-year deal. The standout four-year veteran and two-time Pro Bowl performer threatened to never suit up for the Bears again. And so the Redskins offered to swap spots in the first round, allowing Chicago to move up to the sixth spot overall from its perch at No. 31, in exchange for the then-disgruntled linebacker.

The Bears mulled the offer for a few days and made a counter-proposal, requesting that Washington include a player in its trade package. That player was second-year linebacker Rocky McIntosh, a second-round choice in the 2006 draft who had made just two starts as a rookie and recorded only 28 tackles. Despite the difference in experience, and the perceived disparity in their talent levels, the Redskins refused to include McIntosh in the deal. While the discussions were revisited on draft weekend, the trade was never consummated.

And now, two games into the regular season, both teams might be thrilled it wasn't.

McIntosh, only 24, has been nothing short of terrific for the Redskins in their two victories. The former University of Miami standout has 20 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one pass defensed. Anyone who watched last Monday night's win at Philadelphia couldn't miss McIntosh's explosive burst to the ball and pursuit skills. As impressive as rookie strong safety Laron Landry was -- the first-round draft choice from LSU sealed the win by knocking away a fourth-down pass from Eagles wide receiver Kevin Curtis -- McIntosh was arguably Washington's most impressive young defender.

It's very early in the season, but it certainly appears the Redskins have developed a viable playmaker at weakside linebacker, and for a very affordable price. The 35th prospect chosen overall, McIntosh signed a four-year, $3.4 million contract that included a signing bonus of $1.82 million. But his base salary for this season is just the second-year minimum of $360,000.

Had the Redskins made the trade for Briggs, they were prepared to reward him with a deal that included $20 million in guarantees, and already had agreed in principle to that contract. Instead, they'll pay McIntosh less than 20 percent of that and, for such a modest investment, appear to have a superb young player.

Of all the 32 teams Jason, bubba you are the worst beat reporter by far. Your colleagues who cover their teams for their papers are far superior beat reporters. You suck its that simple. I have read them all for the last 6mos and you are simply the worst. The WP should either fire your sorry butt or move you to home section where you can write about dollies! Would be fitting for a mtero sexual like you.

Of course there would be controversy with the 100K extravaganza! I love it.
Look for me a the game... section 407 with the white Cooley jersey... no, not that guy. No, not him either... I think that's a woman. Too ugly... too fat... way too skinny... that guy is black... come to think of it, nevermind. I'll check in with ya'll later.

Kill the gints.
May our victory be as epic as the tale of Jason by our brother farstriker.

Honestly, I love 4th like a brother, but the claim that Norv was turning a corner after over a hundred games of... ugh, I can't even think of it...

That marble-mouthed ba$tard took advantage of an ownership shabingus to overstay his welcome by at least four years. He was who we thought he was, and if you want to crown his a$$, [you know the rest]

Posted by: cload and daggar | September 23, 2007 12:01 AM

Cload and Dagger - I was kind of saying the same thing as you. All I am saying it wasn't completely Norv's fault. It was partly Ownership's.

We should have got rid him back in '96. '99 wasn't the right time is all I am saying. It took the team about 4 years to recover from that. And a whole bunch of $$ wasted......

But, I do not like Norv. I was just talaking about the timing. Please don't call me a Norbet Lover....

LOL etrod, great pull.

kost52, great article thanks....isn't it get a great talent on the cheap for a change?? I LOVE Rocky Mac, think he's really primed to be a pernennial Pro Bowler. And LaRon - he'll battle Okoye for Def Rook of Yr....

Congrats all hard core bloggers on the 100K milestone. Glad a dilettante like myslef could come along for the ride.

I am calling today's game as Campbell's official coming out party. Sure, he's turned a few heads with his poise and work ethic, but I think come 8pm tonight, the Primetime guys will be talking about him as not just "the future" but also the present. Projected Soup stat line: 20-29, 290 yds, 3 TD's, 1 rush TD
